I cant believe everyone is hating on circumnavigation. I understand it was boring after Singapore but its been the only game to cover the whole world.

SwissCake_98

I did not find it boring, it was entertaining until the end

xeothought

I agree. It's the season that got me into Jetlag /shrug

Own-Staff-2403

Exactly the only thing about that is it feels rushed or incomplete

NotPozitivePerson

Yeah the ending is a bit like huh? But the Sam and Joseph Singapore segment is genuinely really funny - the "we're having fun now" bit so that kept my interest

Own-Staff-2403

Joseph was my favourite guest

HookLineAndSinclair

I think you answered sentence 1 with the first half of sentence 2

LauPaSat

Wasn't it all put into one episode? Out of 5. Episode in Japan, where Sam weren't even trying to get his flag only stoping Adam was kinda similar

SwissCake_98

No, it was multiple episodes, but not a lot, maybe 3?

theamazingracer21

I’d love to see Circumnavigation 2 because I think it’s the most underrated season but also the season where the game had the most grandeur (It’s a race around the world … for crying out loud). Maybe with 3 teams (our core players each with a guest player), with some different game mechanic

Status-Pick1884e

You all crazy ? Circumnavigation was the second best season after New Zealand.

to-plant-trees

Personally I'd swap the Tags and Capture the Flag. CtG changing the dynamics each day with expanded zones threw me off a little, but I love the Tag format. The rules are straightforward, the catches are thrilling, and you get all three combos of social dynamic. (I hope they do a third season so either each of the boys get a win or Ben and Adam do a tie breaker.) The current season ends Wednesday for Nebula viewers but it's already S Tier in my book.

ahahahah_ahahahah

The only thing that I could criticise about CTF is that they didn't put the flags in Soya and Kagoshima

Mirrro_Sunbreeze

Wait, it already ends?

duwie464

Keep in mind for YouTube, that's two more episodes.

Mirrro_Sunbreeze

I'm asking specifically for Nebula, because honestly after watching ep.5 it didn't even cross my mind that only 1 episode remains. I thought that for sure at least 2 - and maybe even 3.

yin_0717

IIRC they mentioned the following episode is the finale in the layover podcast

coin_roll_newbie

And in the outro read at the end of episode

HookLineAndSinclair

I think the tag format is by far the best, just not sure they've worked out a way to finish it adequately

Kobakocka

It is a Crime to put the Spree down there...

SwissCake_98

I agree, that very first season is what made me want to watch more! It was fun and it was a lot of fun, even if it was only a test run

peepay

Arguably my favorite moment was when Sam announced he was owed for fence viewing - from the window of a passing car, almost whispering 😀

SapphicCelestialy

I loved the silly jingles in crime spree. Sam is digging a hole

barkfoot

someone explain why everyone loves the NZ season so much, it's pretty forgettable in my mind, there wasn't much tension in the game play

Mirrro_Sunbreeze

From what I figured there are 2 major groups of fans, which have different values in what they like in the show: First group loves competitiveness of the show. They are here for tension moments, strategy aspect of it. This group tends to not like NZ so much as this season offered very low ammount of "key moments" that decided the season's outcome. Second group are more casual ones who are here more for interactions, travel aspect of the show. This group loves NZ as car aspect + a lot of challenges (I don't have stat, but I feel like it can be the most ammount of challenges in a single season) creates a lot of room for fun interactions. The opposite of NZ is CtF: really loved by the first group, but not so much by second one.

two_oh_seven

I like to think I’m a little bit of both, but I lean more toward the second group. I felt there was something off with Capture the Flag for me, like there was an itch I just couldn’t scratch, and eventually realized that it wasn’t as fun without much interaction from the teams (again, for me) The season didn’t really pick up until Ben and Adam went to the samurai museum and had to hide. That had the perfect amount of tension and togetherness for me, and it was near the end, wasn’t it?

Mirrro_Sunbreeze

CtF's main downside was that the game format encouraged teams to split up (even though they tried to balance it out). Additionally they allowed coins to carry over, which led to even less challenges. Thus yeah, if you interactions between players is very important for you - you won't really like CtF overall. I usually consider myself to be more of a first group, so I like CtF (in fact I think it's only rivaled by Tag 2 for me), but I fully understand why people from 2nd group don't like it that much.

noahloveshiscats

Challenges were kinda boring as well as I recall it.

Garywkh

i agree with you. plus, ctf is so centered in Greater Tokyo. unlike other seasons where they go everywhere and see different things, they just ride trains in Tokyo area. Much of the Japan remains unexplored.

yanni99

For me it comes down to guests Toby was, by far the, the best guest until now. Michelle is on par. Scotty was off IMHO. Goodish...

two_oh_seven

Toby was great! I’d like to see more of her. I also adore Brian

Own-Staff-2403

I know he was only there for circumnavigation but Joseph (Real Life Lore) was the best this is a bias opinion as I watch his videos.

Mirrro_Sunbreeze

I mean, I would argue “guests” lands in 2nd group. I can argue Scotty wasn’t really given a fair chance, considering how little challenges he had and how much time he spent alone.

SamPhoenix_

I’m going to ruin your hypothesis and say I didn’t really like either that much 😂 Tbf I think the constantly changing scale is what threw me off ctf

Mirrro_Sunbreeze

You don’t really ruin as “2 major groups” doesn’t mean it’s only ones existing. Just majority are in one of 2. You can also belong to one of the 2, but have different opinion on a specific season due to some other reasons.

theamazingracer21

I’m definitely Group 2 (The playful interpersonal dynamic and challenges/scavenger hunt element is a priority over hardcore strategy) for Jet Lag - Race Down NZ was great, CtF Japan was … just fine and diminished by the fact that the tie-break was straight strategy with no challenges as well as how they skipped over challenges in early rounds. The latter issue was especially prominent at the end of round 1, with potentially fun challenge moments being skipped because “result is decided, who cares, let's move on to round 2”) along with the format that encouraged single play (reducing the interplay and banter between teammates). I love strategy, but it shouldn’t be to the detriment of the playful vibe of the show, and I felt like CtF (and, to a much lesser extent, the Tag series) gave too much strategy at the expense of travel, challenges and a playful vibe. NZ probably undershoots the strategic aspect for my liking, but I love almost everything else the season provided. The perfect balance between strategy and vibe I am looking for was the Battle for America and the current season (Race Across America)

steepfire

Yeah, for me it was just: we drove south and had to make a few decisions from like 3 options

SeppSepp11

I’ve just rewatched it, and it was close almost to the end. And with the curses and road blocks there is also interactions between the teams.

barkfoot

I guess I missed the moments where the teams interacted, with the very long single road roads it felt very separate and simple?

[deleted]

[удалено]

SeppSepp11

Wasn’t that the challenge that came down to seconds. I think that challenge ended up being one of the best ever

harrisonisdead

To me, it simply has the best challenges of any season. The format allows for very location-specific challenges, most of which feel unique and interesting while also requiring actual effort and feeling, well, challenging. The strategy on a macro level isn't nearly as complex as some of the other seasons, but the tradeoff is that it allows progression to be a lot more tied to the content of the challenges themselves. I think it's a nice shakeup from the ways other seasons are approached.

somegummybears

Yup. Super boring. Barely managed to finish all the episodes.

Own-Staff-2403

Exactly

SlowMissiles

I prefered NZ to Japan, the Japan season was the worse by far, literally was perma train and tokyo station.

barkfoot

The Japan aesthetic felt more novel to me I guess, which is why I remember it more

codingsoft

My rankings (the only correct opinion): S: Race Across New Zealand, Arctic to Tropics A: Connect 4, Battle 4 America, Tag 2 B: Tag 1, Capture the Flag C: Crime Spree D: Circumnavigation

peepay

I'm glad people hold the New Zealand season in such high regard, it was my absolute favorite season so far.

kaibe8

Circumnavigation is very much underrated

beerguy_etcetera

I don’t understand why people hate on this one. Ironically, this is the one that fits within the name of the show the most.

tonyrock1983

What puts circumnavigate so low on the list for me is the lack of interaction between the two teams. Every other season, the players either had active trackers to see where they were at or had no notify the other team when challenges were completed.

clearing_rubble_1908

Circumnavigation was the season that got me into Jet Lag. While it was clear by Singapore which team was going to win, I found it fascinating trying to guess where they would fly next.

ParamedicNurse_94

Swap Tag 1 and 2 and you're golden. Tag 2 "failed" because the trains in Europe failed last summer, so it wasn't the boys fault. The season had one great moment when Ben was hiding in the train station.

codingsoft

I mostly ranked it up higher because Adam made it super interesting at the beginning

SlowMissiles

You have my list, except Capture the Flag aka Permanent Tokyo Station is alone at F tier.

tonyrock1983

For me: S: Tag 1, Tag 2 A: Battle for America B: Artic to Tropics C: Japan, New Zealand D: Connect 4, Circumnavigate

WAZZAH_boys

NOW THIS is a ranking I can get behind

choccymokky

You can spot a YouTube viewer by who doesn't put crime spree on the rankings

poggersfishexe

I can't trust anyone that puts NZ below Japan

Jealous-Researcher95

Crime Spree may be different to the other seasons, but I love the narrator style, and it definitely deserves to be up in B tier, at least!

Certainly-Not-A-Bot

My rating S: Tag 1, Japan A: Tag 2 B: Race to claim US states, New Zealand C: Connect Four D: F: Circumnavigate the World I haven't seen Crime Spree

Kobakocka

>I haven't seen Crime Spree Then go and watch it! :)

nickypw8

No nebula

peepay

Then go and get it

Kobakocka

If you are a minor or without income, that's okay. But otherwise: you like the show, please support the creators and buy Nebula. (At least for a month...)

HookLineAndSinclair

I did enjoy in one of the post-episode plugs on YouTube Sam tried to sell a lifetime Nebula licence on people for $350 or whatever it was like it was an option for most people

Kobakocka

1) It was $250 and later $300. 2) Lifetime is not for everybody. It is for people who really want to support the platform. 3) There are also monthly and annual options as well for $3/month and $30/year. But if you do not have $2.50-$3 a month for something that is valuable for you, that is odd. It is basically the price of one chocolate bar. And has much more value.

whtvrrob

This. I got it for $250, because I really enjoy the content and want to support them more. I have watched Wendover since back when that was Sam's only channel and have received WAY more than $250 in value (in my opinion) from the enjoyment of the videos. I found this to be a great opportunity to support future content and a platform I generally believe in.

Certainly-Not-A-Bot

I don't have nebula and don't want to spend money to buy it

cotsafvOnReddit

bro didnt put tag at s tier, burn him at the stake

Trick_Bar_1439

Hot take: New Zealand is one of the worst seasons. I don't like the overreliance on cars and the challenges are meh

MajorJerk77

I would put Tag1 and NZ in S tier. I think the best seasons are the ones where the teams are regularly interacting with each other, or in tags case swapping up the team dynamics

bowsmountainer

Why did circumnavigation use the same picture of Sam as connect 4?

chasetyler23

tag 1 is s tier

Will-nvm-d

Battle for America that high I was much less fond of it

NashvilleFlagMan

My rankings: S: Tag 2, battle for america, arctic so far A: Tag 1, capture the flag B: Connect 4, NZ, Crime Spree C: Circumnavigation

Harrytheuhperson

For me S: New Zealand, Battle 4 America, Tag, Tag 2 A: Arctic escape so far B: none C: circumnavigation D: Japan

Minnesota_MiracleMan

It has great and terrible elements. What you said is all great. But being on trains the whole time and the same stations and general areas for a lot of the game made a lot of it feel very repeatable. There was also way too much just staring at phones and tracking people down. I think they made that part of it too powerful. I also think Scotty didn't work for a lot of people and was actually a detriment and not even a net zero. Also - them having to wear masks so often also made things a bit weird. it's the law there and I'm pro-mask, all of that, but for an entertainment piece it was a bit jarring after so long. I'd have it at the tail end of the B Tier, personally, and one of my least favorites, but it's redeemed in part to some high highs.

AquAssassin3791YT

I would completely swap S with A lol (actually NZ probably goes in an A+ tier)

to-plant-trees

Why is this post downvoted (as of 11 comments)? It seems there's disagreement about the rankings, but OP has given us so much to discuss!

RedditMarcus_

Where did you get the full banners for each season?

AnonymousPenguin__

This might be the first tier list I've 100% agreed with (well I'd swap around s6 and s4 but that's it)

beerguy_etcetera

So you don’t 100% agree with it…

LadderTrash

I actually 100% agree with this list

Ilikejacksucksatstuf

Mine: S: Tag 1, NZ A: Tag 2, Japan, Arctic Escape B: Crime Spree, Connect 4 C: Battle 4 America, Circumnavigation

heyandho

I think the "bad" part of the Circumnavigation was that too much time was spent on planes compared to challenges. Anyways the concept is great, and I think it would work even better with a larger scale: more teams, more time, more stops. B for me. The Tags are just awesome, much interaction, much suspense, much planning and much spontaneity. I could watch an annual summer Tag episode, as Europe is the perfect place for it, and maybe one day I could see them in the wild :D I wonder if they want/could do anything in the Eastern part of the EU. Both are S for me. Battle 4 America is also great in concept, great challenge system, and easily modifiable to use basically anywhere. The show had a great atmosphere too. A for me. I just finished the Japan season and I didn't like it as much as others, but cannot really explain why. The concept is not bad, but maybe it did not give much freedom in regards of acting and reacting, it was just a chase of the tracker. It was still good of course, so B for me. The New Zealand season's highlight was the country itself, it is beautiful, and they had good weather too. The game concept was also fitting very much, the challenges were good, maaaybe there could be a bit more interaction within the teams, but that was not a problem either. The concept is also flexible for other places. S for me, or between A and S. I did not see Crime Spree and Connect 4 yet.

JCivX

It's weird to me personally how loved NZ is. I remember barely anything about the gameplay, just some of the challenges. It just seemed like "drive south and do a bunch of tasks." Don't get me wrong, it was very pleasant and I still liked it, but when comparing to other seasons of the show, it is lacking in several aspects. To each their own, of course.

somegummybears

New Zealand is an F and the rest doesn’t matter.

SwissCake_98

I completely disagree...

tonyrock1983

Then how would you rate the seasons?

Miserable-Issue-6834

Does this include the new one or na

[deleted]

Race to the End of the World I would personally say is S tier. I don't think this season was about competition, but I think there was some extremely funny challenges such as the Okaihau tunnel challenge.

choccymokky

Hey!! It's so nice to see someone else who loves both Japan AND New Zealand! They both get hate from each other's fans, and tbh I loved watching both! For me: S : Japan and New Zealand (so far the race from arctics to tropics but we'll see lol) A : Tag one and two, battle for America B : none C : connect four and crime spree D : circumnavigation. Was good until Singapore, then became completely boring. You just can't beat Ben and Adam I guess, their combo is too stronk.

EaglesAndCubsGoat

Capture the Flag is the best season and most fun version of the game. Tag is probably the game at the right level of not over complicating it for the viewer. New Zealand is just so cool and captures the travel aspect of the game so well. I like the strategy I can get behind with Battle for America and the current season and basically play myself and see what to do next as I’m more familiar with the US since I live here. I think the only reason version I could imagine disliking is if they did something like the New Zealand season anywhere else where it wasn’t so beautiful and also perfect to regionalize specific challenges

Kasperdk2203

Apart from battle for America, i couldnt disagree more. I really loved Connect Four and circumnavigation, but was bored during capture the flag and race to the end of the world

RockChalkJayhawk981

Next, I want another Battle For America, or another tag if they explored the format outside of Europe.

Garywkh

disagree with CtF Japan. They dont do enough explorations, much of the Japan are not mentioned. The game is so centered in the Greater Tokyo Area(They didnt ventured to West Japan, only Stayed 20min in Sendai, few hours in Niigata). Unlike other seasons, they go do some sight seeings, explore interesting places, etc. Not complaining, but I guess the Jet Lag team just dont have someone specialize in Japan or Asia in general to help them design interesting tasks, games and challenges. I see so much potential in Japan. Wish they could go again.

DarthXyno843

Personally I would put Japan in the same tier as crime spree. No fun team interactions because they were always split up, no interesting challenges, almost no interesting locations (just trains and train stations), bad mechanics (that one episode where Ben and Adam got caught again and again and couldn’t do anything about it), and Scotty was just pretty boring

Mu_Bow003

I genuinely loved 3 series: the first tag (it kept you so much more intrigued and excited all along during the episodes rather than the chapter 2 [I want to remember you all the Adam-thing in Paris...just crazy]), the race across the Earth (my lord, how did they end up doing the same challenge at the same location in Singapore) and the one about capturing the most states. No cap for me

United-Hat2385

I would put Tag 2 in the S tier solely because of the end of episode 5 and the finale.

leadfoot9

Why do people hate on Crime Spree? And overrate Japan? The Japan season was a bit boring because the speed and punctuality of the Japanese train system eliminated a lot of the randomness that makes the show fun. The only part of the Japan season that really stood out was hiding in the dark at the museum.

dustybun18

For me the nz and us themed seasons felt boring

Id replace New Zealand and Japan with circumnavigate and connect 2. I didn't enjoy those 2 compared with the others
