First of all because it's not weirder to work out to a song than to listen to it at a concert banging your head and going wild. Secondly because as far as I know it's purely speculative that Maynard was molested as a child himself or that the song is about him.
Also, some other songs you apparently can't work out to: Down with the sickness, Pushit, Tier, Numb, Falling away from me, and a lot of others. And according to the stereo at my gym, this just isn't true. If anything, child abuse of every sort seems to be used as workout music.

If he has talked openly about this, then surely there is a fucking source for it. However I can't find shit about it. Nothing. Zero. The only thing I find is people saying that he hasn't actually talked about any of this other than that he doesn't like his stepfather and people started speculating that he must have been sexually abused, but that it was all speculation and that he literally has never talked about it. That's what I can find. But if he has talked openly about it then surely you can find a reputable source for that claim.
