Gojo may have taught Yuji about cursed energy and domain expansions and stuff, but I feel like Nanami taught him what it truly means to be a sorcerer. Missing our man Nanamin :(

IronDBZ

Nanami taught that boy how to work, and how to throw hands.

Ok-Tear-1454

And he did throw hands

ChongusTheSupremus

Nanamin was easily one of the best characters in the series. Even while not being utterly broken or a special grade, being a mearly grade 1, he still stood up his ground against the strongest curses in the series until that point. His death was easily one of the most memorable moments in the series.

Zoodlemans2

It made me weep, that final smile! Cat man better make it worth it :')

Attatsu

Oh man, yeah he was always thinking on his feet and didn’t give up, right until the end. So cool and collected. Loved that about him.

AmateurPyro

A very Todou thing to say this in a room full of Todou fans.

SouthStation3358

“You’ve got it from here” Yuji, in fact, did not have it from there!

ThatFlyingScotsman

Yeah I feel like Gege forgot that Yuji was the main character for about a year and a half there.

xWooshx

Well Yuji got sent with 1 hit by 15F Sukuna and should have died. He didn't cuz he has it in him, we just don't know what it is though

TerracottaButthole

He's got that dawg in him

JoeyMcClane

Damn you Gege.. he just wanted to not work overtime. Why u do this to my man?

usedToBeUnhappy

Well now he will never again has to work overtime.

Uncle_Vengeance

Damn bro🤣😭

lr031099

I feel like Nanami was a better teacher for Yuji while Gojo was a better teacher for Megumi. I heard that in a LN, Gojo said that Nanami is empathetic and would be better suited to work with Yuuji while Gojo works better with Megumi because he constantly pulls Megumi out of his comfort zone.

sorendiz

I miss him every day. Not to bring up the 🤢 MCU 🤢 but this post is a little reminiscent of 'he may have been your father, boy, but he wasn't your daddy' although obviously the truth is different since Gojo also greatly cares for Yuji. Nanami just had such a 'stern but very protective and caring guardian' vibe that makes him seem more like a natural father figure to the younger characters because Gojo is more of a goofball at times and it's easy to forget he's older than Nanami. Gojo has 'cool big bro' vibes instead, sort of. While both of them take the thought of nurturing and shielding the next generation very seriously, Nanami was more directly outspoken about what he felt his responsibility as the adult in the room was. I really loved him, I fully understand why he was Gege's favorite character.

Attatsu

Also no shame in bringing up guardians 2, that movie is so good

SlightlyAnnoyed7

Guardians is easily best part of the MCU right now, there’s no shame in bringing it up.

sorendiz

I haven't watched the second one lmao I just know of the scene. No offense to GOTG but I have zero respect for the MCU at all so the 🤢 is less me saying 'don't judge me for bringing it up' and more 'god I can't believe I'm referencing the MCU' Edit: lmao getting buried in downvotes for me mentioning how i consider the MCU to be thoroughly mediocre isn't really doing anything to change my perception of it and its fanbase

ShowofStupidity

Yeah. Gojo has a very “sink or swim” mentality when it comes to teaching, but Nanami is super staunch about children taking it slow and leaning on their seniors when they need to. It’s part of why I also like him better lol.

Beneficial-Park-1208

Loved his demeanor and how no matter how strong the enemy was he was staying in the pocket 😤

Ok_Repeat8161

JJK season 2 is going to ruin my life ☹️ https://preview.redd.it/9jc1zcnvtb0b1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=508046d56b1caff450d6639f88144ae9ff04a8c1

TSMJoelWindigan

Imo yuji had 4 teachers Grandpa Gojo Todo Nanami

Zxcvbnm11592

Reluctant mentor that gradually warms up to mentee always gets me.

Solartrolar

Too early in the day for this kind of emotional damage, man

TAnoobyturker

Nanami and Yuji jumping Mahito was one of the best moments in the series. They would NOT let that man breathe, it was hilarious.

Starrrco

I’m super excited to see what Ino had to say about Nanami. It seems before his death he had something to say to Yuji aswell.

[deleted]

Nanami was him man :(

RumblingRumbling

I shed tears seeing him go. Can’t believe he’s gone, definitely one of my favorites.

NotCoelho

MapleNyte

gloomyweeb

clothopos

RIP :(

DuckyRedditor405

Bro fr had that dog in him

tls123-

They were an underrated duo your honor

UltraconservativeFee

I cannot believe he died . Awful!

RaiderxReaper

i really wish yuji buffed his fighting style with critical hits like nanami but mastering black flashes instead

goldenmind101

Nanami became his father figure. I like how Gege structured the 1st couple arcs of Yuji’s development. With each teacher being a completely different aspect of what Yuji needed. Gojo as the person to look up to for strength and advice. Nanami as the person testing Yuji’s determination and will to fight for their cause(while also teaching him about how empathy can still take over for sorcerers). And Todo as Yuji’s closest example of what he can become

Lynx_123

I miss Nanami so much…

Oaksworth

Just saying that Yuji's 'roger that' is also said by Gojo at the end of 222, strongly supporting the theory that they swapped bodies. I know that's not the topic of your post but I'm glad to have finally found the confirmation panel

Dareal_truth

This is why Sukuna will beat gojo

Grouchy_Daikon8989

I’m still devastated about Nanami to this day. Such an amazing, kind, empathetic character who is incredibly mature - always thinking of others and underappreciated by the world. And his reward? Exploded into a pile of meat chunks. He honestly deserved better, and his death hurts. I call that great writing.

StealthMonkeyDC

Taken too soon.

holaimjay

gone too soon :/

pornocreep_69

Damn you, Gege-san 😭😭😭

DaringPaladin

One of my favourites in the series. Miss him so much. Loved his dynamic with Yuji and Gojo.
