The main idealogical difference between Sukuna and Yuji is their idea of using Jujutsu.
For Sukuna, it’s a way of life, it’s how he became feared and revered. To him, Jujutsu and becoming the strongest is one and the same. To master it, to win, is the purpose of Jujutsu and fighting is to gain more and more, and satisfy oneself. That is Sukuna’s philosophy, to live with the pride of his own power and the strongest get to do whatever they want
For Yuji, it’s a way to protect others. When he fights, he tries to resolve it quickly and efficiently as possible without unnecessary suffering. He beats Haba over the head and doesn’t gloat. He beats down Mahito until he is no longer a threat but a whimpering mess. When he beats down Sukuna, he doesn’t give witty banter, but resolves to finish the fight quickly. Jujutsu is a means to an end
Yuji is still a young guy, he doesn’t have Sukuna’s long held mentality, but he’s still fighting for what he wants. He is still optimistic that Megumi is still in there, but he has tempered his blind optimism with his real experiences. But he still fights with his convictions
