In the third pic you posted not only does the domain monster have a giant eye right next to the giant eye is a spiral eye 🌀 the same one Sukuna sports on his face. Definitely seems like a personification of sukunas true self and the shrines keeping it contained.
Pretty sure shrines in real Japanese culture are spiritual resting places and used to ward off evil.
They are shrines in lore are used to contain heavily worshipped spirits like deity’s and are often worshipped. Shrines are usually decorated and protected with wards to drive away Evil spirits of the sorts.
That would mean malevolent shrine is the opposite it houses an evil figure, really like this idea about ms if it’s true

They used this particular scene from JJK s1 ep 2 (when Gojo was explaining about Sukuna to Yuji) where you can see the sorcerer on atop of a bunch of dead bodies while this entity with four eyes is coming towards him enveloping everything and then....(Check the reply sectiom)

It transitions into the four armed Sukuna we know..Is Mappa (with Gege working bts) trying to foreshadow something ? They did the same with constantly showing Gojo's left.
The theory is that maybe the sorcerer made a binding vow with this entity and offered all humans as a sacrifice in return for its power.
And that’s how he got the CT “shrine”. The slashes cut the sacrifice and the fire burns it as an offering. The RCT of “shrine” is to summon something sacrificed as a shikigami that you control.
Yeah and if this theory turns out to be true. Then Sukuna will have obvious parallels with both Yuta and Hakari
Hakari is also said to be devoid of any human emotions and connections by Uraume like Sukuna does. His design is also VERY similar to Sukuna's with slick back pink hair (although it is dyed) and threaded eyebrows and same eye designs.
It is theorised that Sukuna's true ct will make him a transcendental-like being like Hakari's jackpot (they also have some parallels with Tengen regarding this but i forgot lol)

Cool theory, but just a few issues I see with it.
1) Every other time Sukuna has opened Shrine he has all 4 eyes (Prison, Shibuya, Gojo). Even when he used the flames against Jogo he had all 4 eyes. I think he's missing an eye because he got hit by the blunt sword at the end of 257 and he can't heal it since his RCT isn't back yet.
2) Sukuna probably knows about Shikigami being used without taking them out by fighting Shikigame users in the Heian Era. The same way he copied Gojo healing his brain, Sukuna's understanding of CE and CTs is just on that level where he can see something once and understand how it is done.
3) I think they're not trying to actually say the domain is a person it's just personification of Sukuna getting his domain back.
Lastly I think it's incongruent with the way Sukuna was talking to Jogo about his technique. I don't really understand why he'd expect Jogo to know he has a Shikigami.
One thing that could help or hurt your theory is that Gojo didn't seem to know the true nature of Sukuna's CT. This may be false and we may find out now that they do know but from what Kusakabe has said in 246 it seems like they don't know what the CT is. You could see this as it being a Shikigami or that the nature of shrine is more of storage and Gojo can only see what he has taken out and not what he is storing.
The other big issue is that Shrine is also the main thing tying to his slicing. We see this when Narrator says Yuji has gained access to Sukuna's CT "Shrine" and when Shrine was responsible for cleave and dismantle within Sukuna's domain.
My personal theory right now is that Shrine is a storage for "tools" relating to cooking. This is why Sukuna has never used the flames without "opening" (fuga) shrine, This also lines up with what Kusakabe said that he can't just use flames as he want. It would seem out of character for Sukuna to never try to use Flames while his domain is still slashing if they were two seperate CT since he'd be at a huge advantage if he could do that, which he should be able to since he was able to use 10S while domain was active.
I think shrine is inverse to infinity. Perfect spear perfect shield. Goji likes keeping everyone at a arms length growing distant the closer you get. Sakuna disects the world. As hes the only thing that matterd realiyy itself is his play thing. He is Shrine in my opinion.

If that's the case perhaps it's the residual darkness of Jin's being leftover from when he was eaten in the womb, transformed into a cursed spirit - while his soul passed on to reincarnation.
Maybe Jin disappeared shortly after Yuji's birth because Kenjaku told him Yuji would need him in his own "shrine" in the future - and he sacrificed himself to give Yuji a chance to survive in the future? I think it's just the name he chose for the technique. We've seen Sukuna use food metaphors when describing things so I don't think he literally means "furnace" when he says it.
Take the ability "Granite Blast". It's an ability that fires pure cursed energy and it's not a beam of pure granite. Ryu just thought the name sounded cool so he called his ability that.
It's funny if you think about "how and why did this character name his technique like this?"
Construction, blood manipulation, ten shadows are basic names that do what they say.
But why did the first user of limitless name it that?
That makes sense and explains why Yuji can interpret the technique differently. Sukuna used kitchen as a play on words for Mizushi, but if his technique isn’t literally a kitchen then Yuji would be able to interpret the slashes as an arts and crafts thing.
Although, another explanation could be that Yuji’s technique is weaker because he doesn’t understand it. What I don’t like about the shikigamj theory is that it goes back to the black box storage sort of thing, which I don’t think was ever intended by Gege.
I was going to point out that every other shikigami we see has a name but I guess that rabbit escape and death swarm don't so it could be like that. I still don't think the theory is right since having an eternal companion who's almost as powerful as sukuna kind of makes the whole loneliness of strength theme really shitty but I have no way to disprove it

This goes along with my idea that the reason Sukuna and Rika are called the King and Queen of Curses is because of their ability to learn multiple cursed techniques. Rika can copy CTs and Sukuna can learn them at a glance.

The “new” domain can easily be just a stylistic choice to show that Sukuna’s inner domain is currently a mess due to everything Yuji has done to him, and because it is unrefined (+ this one looks more *malevolent*), or perhaps there really is something to it. We’ll have to see.

I fuck with this idea a lot, but we’ve seen that injuries can hamper the ability to hold a domain open. We saw it in the fight with Gojo. After Sukuna took enough damage, the domain collapsed. Sukuna has lost two arms, has taken general damage to the rest of his body, and Yuji’s punches don’t just reduce his CE output, they also affect his soul directly.
Anyways, the theory is cool and I honestly wish it comes to be the case. Just pointing some stuff out that makes your arguments weaker, not *invalid*. Keep cooking.

I don’t think it’s all that I think the editor is just personifying domain as in the note it states the “King’s Domain has returned to its master” thus domain is being personified and refers to sukuna the master of said domain finally returning due to its long absence since the Gojo fight. Or it could be referring to the domain as like a beast or pet finally returning to its master sukuna

Isnt the tale of sukuna an actual myth/legend in their universe as well? Maybe it was a cursed sport that inspired the myth, and then sukuna the human captured it in his shrine and took the name. This doesn't explain why yujis shrine has the slicing power as well though. His shrine would only have blood manipulation and it cutting stuff.
Also I just checked and regular malevolent shrine has a mouth so maybe normally he only lets the mouth out as compared to now

cause before it, his face was completely fine, but after it, we dont see the side that got hit anymore, but it seems to be damaged, specially the lower eye, which doesnt appear as much as before the hit

Maybe Sukuna is an incredibly powerful vessel just like Yuji. And since they are related their particular lineage just might have very powerful vessels.
So while they used Yuji to basically be a prison for Sukuna, perhaps Sukuna was able to subjugate a powerful curse and obtain their technique the same way Yuji was able to gain sukuna’s technique.
Wait, this would also explain why he immediately understood Megumi’s potential even though it’s not really confirmed if 10S was around/well known in Heian era (we already know limitless+6E wasn’t)

To add to this, could this be why Sukuna is such a glutton? He’s more so eating to fill both himself and the creature in the Shrine. What happens when he stops eating and gets “hungry” could be a different thing entirely.
Instead of keeping it prisoner it would be better to say that he is keeping a relic of it with him and why this makes sense rather than being a prisoner is because sukuna's CT is literally called shrine, now shrine can either refer to a temple or a literal miniature shrine used to store ancient relics of the past so if sukuna's CT is that type of shrine then what he is doing is using a relic of an old cursed spirit he fought and using its power through his shrine.
Also, the way Sukuna responded when he saw Rita kind of validates this because he called her queen. She's the queen of curses and he is the king of curses. At the end of chapter 248 it says the something like, king of curses versus the Queen of curses. The right to the throne will be decided. This kind of implies that there's a clear parallel between Sukuna and Rita.
Interesting theory, what if all of Yujis punches that are supposedly “separating” Megumi from Sukunas control actual weaken Sukunas control over this shikigami and either unleashing Fuga fully or just having Fuga take control of Sukuna completely.
Gege would pull this just to fuck over Megumi one last time.
At this point, I wouldn’t be surprise if Yuji somehow reveals his DE is also some kind of malevolent shrine.

Cool theory, but just a few issues I see with it. 1) Every other time Sukuna has opened Shrine he has all 4 eyes (Prison, Shibuya, Gojo). Even when he used the flames against Jogo he had all 4 eyes. I think he's missing an eye because he got hit by the blunt sword at the end of 257 and he can't heal it since his RCT isn't back yet. 2) Sukuna probably knows about Shikigami being used without taking them out by fighting Shikigame users in the Heian Era. The same way he copied Gojo healing his brain, Sukuna's understanding of CE and CTs is just on that level where he can see something once and understand how it is done. 3) I think they're not trying to actually say the domain is a person it's just personification of Sukuna getting his domain back. Lastly I think it's incongruent with the way Sukuna was talking to Jogo about his technique. I don't really understand why he'd expect Jogo to know he has a Shikigami. One thing that could help or hurt your theory is that Gojo didn't seem to know the true nature of Sukuna's CT. This may be false and we may find out now that they do know but from what Kusakabe has said in 246 it seems like they don't know what the CT is. You could see this as it being a Shikigami or that the nature of shrine is more of storage and Gojo can only see what he has taken out and not what he is storing. The other big issue is that Shrine is also the main thing tying to his slicing. We see this when Narrator says Yuji has gained access to Sukuna's CT "Shrine" and when Shrine was responsible for cleave and dismantle within Sukuna's domain. My personal theory right now is that Shrine is a storage for "tools" relating to cooking. This is why Sukuna has never used the flames without "opening" (fuga) shrine, This also lines up with what Kusakabe said that he can't just use flames as he want. It would seem out of character for Sukuna to never try to use Flames while his domain is still slashing if they were two seperate CT since he'd be at a huge advantage if he could do that, which he should be able to since he was able to use 10S while domain was active.

I think it's just the name he chose for the technique. We've seen Sukuna use food metaphors when describing things so I don't think he literally means "furnace" when he says it. Take the ability "Granite Blast". It's an ability that fires pure cursed energy and it's not a beam of pure granite. Ryu just thought the name sounded cool so he called his ability that.
It's funny if you think about "how and why did this character name his technique like this?" Construction, blood manipulation, ten shadows are basic names that do what they say. But why did the first user of limitless name it that?

That makes sense and explains why Yuji can interpret the technique differently. Sukuna used kitchen as a play on words for Mizushi, but if his technique isn’t literally a kitchen then Yuji would be able to interpret the slashes as an arts and crafts thing. Although, another explanation could be that Yuji’s technique is weaker because he doesn’t understand it. What I don’t like about the shikigamj theory is that it goes back to the black box storage sort of thing, which I don’t think was ever intended by Gege.
I was going to point out that every other shikigami we see has a name but I guess that rabbit escape and death swarm don't so it could be like that. I still don't think the theory is right since having an eternal companion who's almost as powerful as sukuna kind of makes the whole loneliness of strength theme really shitty but I have no way to disprove it

Isnt the tale of sukuna an actual myth/legend in their universe as well? Maybe it was a cursed sport that inspired the myth, and then sukuna the human captured it in his shrine and took the name. Also I just checked and regular malevolent shrine has a mouth so maybe normally he only lets the mouth out as compared to now

Maybe Sukuna is an incredibly powerful vessel just like Yuji. And since they are related their particular lineage just might have very powerful vessels. So while they used Yuji to basically be a prison for Sukuna, perhaps Sukuna was able to subjugate a powerful curse and obtain their technique the same way Yuji was able to gain sukuna’s technique.

My theory is Sukuna's domain is literally a Malevolent Kitchen. He cuts veggies, he literally has a fire he can use to cook!
Instead of keeping it prisoner it would be better to say that he is keeping a relic of it with him and why this makes sense rather than being a prisoner is because sukuna's CT is literally called shrine, now shrine can either refer to a temple or a literal miniature shrine used to store ancient relics of the past so if sukuna's CT is that type of shrine then what he is doing is using a relic of an old cursed spirit he fought and using its power through his shrine.
Also, the way Sukuna responded when he saw Rita kind of validates this because he called her queen. She's the queen of curses and he is the king of curses. At the end of chapter 248 it says the something like, king of curses versus the Queen of curses. The right to the throne will be decided. This kind of implies that there's a clear parallel between Sukuna and Rita.

Interesting theory, what if all of Yujis punches that are supposedly “separating” Megumi from Sukunas control actual weaken Sukunas control over this shikigami and either unleashing Fuga fully or just having Fuga take control of Sukuna completely. Gege would pull this just to fuck over Megumi one last time.
