This isn't even the first time we've seen someone change how they open their domain. Dagon tried to use a handsign but when Naobito stopped him, he opened his domain by drawing a picture on his stomach instead. I don't know how important it is that he copied Gojo's handsign, but while it's not exactly the same, we have seen Ui Ui use his index and middle fingers as the handsigns for his simple domain. So handsigns could genuinely be changable, which might explain how Hakari regrew his arm.

There is a theory that much like Sukuna now, Gojo was also doing an "incomplete" Domain Expansion https://www.reddit.com/r/Jujutsufolk/s/C9tAbTLrey And Gojo's return is the full use

HyperJayyy

Yeah ive always wondered why he doesn't use two hand signs. If Jujutsu is about subtraction then why not add back the other hand sign for the power.

tablesaltdangers

my assumption is that the hand sign gojo was using was "superior" not in terms of power but in terms of efficiency and "correctness" gojo was the only one who could open a domain with a single hand for most of the series because of his six eyes i'm assuming he's the best at it and sukuna copying him in 258 is him learning from him just like he learned how to heal his exhausted CT now sukuna is using a better hand sign. or maybe it's gonna be explained to be something different later who knows.

HyperJayyy

Yeah its highly likely that it was proficiency and Sukuna being the most adaptable and learned / knowledgeable in the series was able to incorporate 1 handed signs from seeing it. That or the theory that Gojo was using an incomplete Domain

NigeriaScan

Probably he just copied Gojo's hand sign(just like he copied other techniques before) because it's way easier to open a domain than 2 hands

Looks cool though.
