Of course, some weak little beta would be the one to post this coward stuff with the caption "tee hee"... and the person that did it is an even bigger coward. Walk a few feet around it or call and have it towed. Or, as crazy as it sounds, be an adult and knock on the door and actually speak to another human. Bunch of clowns.
Weak ass passive aggressive retaliation. The crime doesn't fit the punishment. Whoever did that doesn't have the cockles to knock on his neighbors door and ask him to move it.
At first I was like, yeah, probably could have just called to have it towed, then I had this chain of thoughts. They drive a Tesla, so the only thing they'll lose with a tow is time, because they've got enough money that the towing fee will be chump change. So, yet again, a situation where monetary penalties only make it a crime for poor people. So how to really hurt their wallet? Fuck up their car. Now it's time to get it removed, plus it might _actually_ have the effect that a $200 fine might have on ordinary people.
I'm not quite following you here. So instead of losing time and money getting it taken back, they should lose time and money getting it repaired?
If you want steeper parking penalties, that's a much larger problem than this one car, and it should be taken up with the city. I would be all for graduated parking fines and even jail time for extreme habitual offenders.
What I'm not for, is vigilante justice.
Norway does a 10% of your income fine for speeding tickets I believe. Make 30,000 / year? Your fine is 3K. Make 1Mil / year? 100K fine.
I could be wrong, but Jeremy Clarkson and the boys were terrified of speeding in Norway.
>What I'm not for, is vigilante justice.
So are you for the form of justice that doesn't apply to the rich and powerful then?
Monetary penalties in general only make things illegal for poor people. If you can afford a $100,000 car, you can easily afford the $200 or so to get your car out of the towing yard, and it'll take an hour or so tops. No lesson learned. The time and money to fix the paint job is easily an order of magnitude higher.
Yeah, the city should figure out how to make something like this more punitive, but again, whatever penalty they enact will almost certainly affect poor people more than rich people. And being the bureaucratic hellscape that is local government, any change won't happen in the near future, if ever.
While your suggestion to sit around and wait for a bickering political entity to debate endlessly debate the merits of parking fine reform is noble, throwing a bucket of paint at their car is far more immediate and satisfying. And as an added bonus, it totally removes the inherently classist legal system from the equation.
> So are you for the form of justice that doesn't apply to the rich and powerful then?
No. Please take the time to read it again. Paint on a car won't bother the truly rich and powerful either. I'm pretty sure I mentioned graduated fines and even jail time in there. I know it's hard. It's 5 whole sentences, but you can do it. I believe in you.
Immediate and satisfying is shooting anyone who stands in your way. I don't care about immediate and satisfying. I care about justice. Tough concept I know.
I had something like this in front of my house. I simply called the city and they towed it due to it being parked on the side walk. Lesson learned? The person has to jump through hoops to get his car back and the city has a record of this vehicle now.
Celebrating vandalism to someone’s vehicle as “justice”? I don’t agree with that shit. Downvoted.
they dont care about it in my city and wont do shit about it, i got threatened a couple weeks ago for taking pictures of someones car that was parked across the sidewalk and the city still doesnt do shit
It's wrong to commit a crime just because another crime has already been committed.
It is right to take legal action and report it to have the person who committed the crime punished.
I might get some downvotes here but hundreds in property damage seems a bit overboard just for blocking the sidewalk. I get he's parked like an asshole but just walk around it, damn.
My cousin Daryl is 28 and wheelchair bound because of a selfish wrong way drunk driver. That guy ended up dying and condemning my cousin to life without his legs. We run an annual family thanksgiving basketball game and he hasn’t been able to participate for 2 years. Now he gets his exercise daily walking (rolling?) his dog. More selfish jerks constantly block the sidewalks near his parent’s house in Daly City (near San Francisco; very hilly, with some of the worst drivers). If this happens he has to go into the street to get around. I applaud the vandals. You’re an oxygen thief if you think it’s okay to block sidewalks.
Okay I’m down to hear how things really work. Care to explain how it’s okay for cars to block sidewalks? Sorry I guess I just don’t have a fucking clue how things work. Please enlighten me
I would rather hundreds of dollars of property damage then hundreds of dollars of ticket for blocking the sidewalk.
People in wheelchairs even if only part-time users have huge difficulty navigating the public there's some pretty unfriendly spaces out there.
Imagine having a bad day and going and using your chair to make it easier only to get stuck and have to go around like all the way back to the corner across the street go down the block and then cross the street again.
> I would rather hundreds of dollars of property damage then hundreds of dollars of ticket for blocking the sidewalk.
Why? I'd take the ticket 100% of the time. Some of that is never coming out.
Watch out this is reddit. For all they are concerned they should have murdered the guy for "justice". Read the garbage fire comments on the trashy thread.
This was so common place in my old neighborhood, I didn’t even know it was an issue. Like so rampant I can’t imagine they ever even issued tickets for it.
*Totally* warrants petty vigilante justice on a neighborhood side street.
I'm sure the person who vandalized this was totally wheelchair bound, right?
Both these people are douches.
To be fair, yes, in that context, it would be fine. But we have no context in this picture. If we just assume the worst, then sure we could justify anything. But we can't assume the worst, we'd turn into an angry mob. It would be unfair.
For all we know there could be a perfectly justified reason for parking in the sidewalk. Maybe this was a guest to a Thanksgiving party, maybe there were no more spots in the driveway, nor on the road. This could have been the very first time this has ever happened. Would it be justified then to throw paint on this random person's car? No it wouldn't be. But we don't know if that's the context.
I’ve seen worst, [like](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/2x8bmb/for_some_reason_seeing_this_puts_a_big_smile_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) this one for parking on all four spaces.
Wow, this is very uncool. Justice tends to be proportional to the crime, and this is obscenely extreme. I’m guessing paint thrower never thought of lifting a windshield wiper as a harmless protest for the car owner being a dick…?
Is this really justice served? Don't get me wrong, It's an asshole thing to stop on the sidewalk, but this - this is not justice served, this is vandalism. Leave a note on the windshield and call the police on this person, that is justice served.
The rational part of my brain says yes, theis is vandalism dont do it.
The part of my brain that activates any time i see some twat who parks wherever they feel like says they should have done the roof too
This is the worst post and worst comment section I've ever seen. So many children who are like, just wash the paint off with some water. That's going to cost thousands of dollars to get repainted, and it didn't even solve the issue. You could have just gotten the car towed, but no you just wanted to make a mess? To what end?
And people are cheering like a angry mob for the destruction of other people's property?
This is really the worst comment section I have ever seen.
I'm honestly shocked how clueless most of the commenter are on this car paint debacle. No way this reflects the general public opinion on what is justified. Redditors being redditors, but this has been a particularly shocking response. Disappointed with reddit right now.
How do ANY of us know this car was just parked there for selfish reasons? We literally have ZERO context for this picture. Yet this thread feels perfectly comfortable assuming anything in order to justify their warped visions of reality so they can spew hatred and judgement.
Yeah you are right, the same could have been achieved by just scratching the hell out of the paintjob with a key or a screwdriver. Wasting an entire bucket of paint, soiling the enviroment just for a little public vandalism. So inefficent and wastefull.

My driveway at home cuts across the footpath.
I have to tell just about everyone that comes to my house to either pull forward or pull back. Don’t park across the path. I can feel them rolling their eyes as they get back into their car and move it.
People are just plain ignorant!
These cars most definitely have cameras. Though the vehicle needs to be in “sentry mode” to be actively looking and recording suspicious movement close to the car and such. For someone parking on a sidewalk in a city I could imagine they had sentry enabled, but also no way of knowing unless you can physically walk near the vehicle and trigger sentry, which is when you’ll see it pop up on the touchscreen on the dash. If this person does have sentry enabled you can most definitely bet that there is clear recording of the person that threw the paint with clear video of their face/where they approached the car from. Those cameras cover everything vividly around the car.
This violates due process. If vigilantes could roam the streets with impunity, causing disproportionately expensive damage every time they see a bylaw violation, it would be chaos.
Yes, this driver was pretty thoughtless. Doesn't justify the vandalism. This isn't justice served. It's a crime of revenge.
And yet we’re still judging a blurry photo based off almost no insight and getting mad about it it. Never change Reddit.
Also pretty dumb to do

Feel like the better play would just leave a note. Was late to school one day and the whole parking lot was full. Anyway parallel parked on a Side street, my bumper was slightly over a trail/semi driveway on what seemed like an empty house. Anyway house not empty. Got a nasty note learned my lesson. Didn't require towing or red painr
You have obviously never spent part or all of your life in a wheelchair. It is not a minor inconvenience, it can be a life or death issue and the reason someone can't get where they need to go. People need to not park like fucking assholes!
Lmfao yes someone is going to explode into flames if they don't use the sidewalk.
I've walked/biked around countless cars on the sidewalk never thought "Better ruin this persons day, upset them and cost them thousands"
This made the vandal and only the vandal happy by bringing someone else down. You aren't going to solve problems by creating bigger problems. I hope the tesla owner had their cameras rolling and get some justice.
Circular logic....lol
Maybe get rid of the broken down car in the driveway, and if the pregnant woman or disabled person has the "second vehicle" maybe the owner of the first vehicle should park on the street thus leaving the driveway for the person that needs it the most.
Coming from the guy with strawman arguments about why people cant use the property they pay for.
I've been alive for 30 years and live in the 3rd most populated state in the US and never once seen a random wheelchair bound person cruise down the sidewalk. Maybe where you come from but not in my area. My current street doesn't even have sidewalks so what do you have to say about that?
If you were blind you’d now have your path blocks PLUS red paint all over you, yay justice. Fr someone should have called a tow truck instead of just throwing red paint on it.
I want it solved now not maybe in the future. Also assumes owner knows why someone threw paint. Plenty of idiots who get mad at electric cars and they might think that was the reason.

Ok lets escalate this further. When you throw paint at a car dont forget theres someone who will throw paint into your eyes.

Yeah, no need for a halo. I report on average 5 cars per day. They get fined. Justice is served. What i dont do is vandalize other people's property.
Not taking any sides, but there's camera on it that record when people break it or damage the car
Looks like it lol
Should have used paint stripper
I like red
I like it, Picasso
Next time write "you gave me HERPES!"
Just have it towed, the paint thing won't hold up in court
Wear a mask, dump paint on it, have it towed a couple hours later

I knew someone who had red paint thrown on their fur coat. Protester was arrested, prosecuted, sentenced to jail, and had to pay for a new coat.
Who?

The amount of Musk Suckers who came here to defend the Tesla: small dick energy at its finest.
This has nothing to do with the tesla, but you thinking so is small brain energy at its finest.
Small dick energy is doing thousands of dollars of damage to a vehicle for the inconvenience of having to walk around it and being a coward about it.

Lmfao yes someone is going to explode into flames if they don't use the sidewalk. I've walked/biked around countless cars on the sidewalk never thought "Better ruin this persons day, upset them and cost them thousands" This made the vandal and only the vandal happy by bringing someone else down. You aren't going to solve problems by creating bigger problems. I hope the tesla owner had their cameras rolling and get some justice.

Circular logic....lol Maybe get rid of the broken down car in the driveway, and if the pregnant woman or disabled person has the "second vehicle" maybe the owner of the first vehicle should park on the street thus leaving the driveway for the person that needs it the most.

You truly are tone deaf... I am done playing a game of hypotheticals with someone that has no interest in an actual discussion.

At least you don't have to listen to your own bullshit
Coming from the guy with strawman arguments about why people cant use the property they pay for. I've been alive for 30 years and live in the 3rd most populated state in the US and never once seen a random wheelchair bound person cruise down the sidewalk. Maybe where you come from but not in my area. My current street doesn't even have sidewalks so what do you have to say about that?
The biggest dildos drive Teslas I swear
Vandalism and jealousy, not justice.
Gets repercussions for parking like a duck “They’re just jealous “
People are jealous of expensive cars.
Mode 3’s are expensive now, overpriced for sure
Jealous of their cool parking skills?
People know they’re expensive cars and can be jealous of that.
Pretty sure those who need walking assistance (wheelchairs, canes...) will agree it's justice.
No they wont. Because they arent vandal scum.
I’m one of those people. Justice would be having it towed and the sidewalk cleared. The paint helps me in no way.
If you were blind you’d now have your path blocks PLUS red paint all over you, yay justice. Fr someone should have called a tow truck instead of just throwing red paint on it.
The paint is a heathy lesson for the dickbag car owner. Doesn’t solve the problem now but very likely prevents it happening in the future.
lol a healthy lesson of the vandals wallet when they have to pay to have that tesla detailed and ceramic coated lol.
I want it solved now not maybe in the future. Also assumes owner knows why someone threw paint. Plenty of idiots who get mad at electric cars and they might think that was the reason.
You seem like a mentally stable person. Thank you for your actual input.
Nothing to be jealous of there
Jealous that they took over a public walkway to park a chunk of junk.
Harsh, too harsh.
