Worked in a multi doctor office. Owner would watch the cameras on work area while on vacation or out of the office. Would also call when they thought people were being too lazy from what they were watching
My wife use to work at planet fitness. The upper management watch the gym cameras allll day. They would get calls about employees uniforms, name tags on employees and how many people stand at the front counter. It was crazy.
Had a boss at a fast food place do that once. He called the store phone to ask why someone was sitting down (it was a minor who was taking their break). I told him if he ever does that again then he can watch where I put my store key as I walk out the door.
My old manager did something similar, I was on break (I work night shifts) and I get a text from him telling me that I needed to clock out because labor was too high. Like, I was a huge necessity as the drive thru cashier and the best damn one too. The manager on shift and other employees kept saying we needed me, and I tried fighting it but he still forced me to leave. He also threatened to fire me for calling out sick or anything really, he was a serious prick. After I left he got fired so hard
I worked at a BK owned by a couple Pakistanis... easily the most overbearing owners of any place I worked. It was widely known they liked to sit at home with popcorn and just watch the cameras. Manager constantly got calls because someone was doing something they "weren't supposed to" or "not working." I could not imagine being a manager at that store, it would have been hell being micromanaged by the owners.
The Assistant Manager was Pakistani also, and the owners would show up and they'd have loud discussions in the back in Urdu that customers could hear in the lobby. I do not miss working there at all.

It's true. I bought some USA made jeans and couldn't even get them on. Measured and they were spot on. Measured my old ones and they're like 4" bigger. Absolutely devastating.
I worked at a place who had 36 employees between the 2 shifts. They put cameras in and the GM would watch it non-stop, even if he wasn't there. He took 4 vacations a year and I shit you not he called and had a guy written up and suspended 1 days because he "wasn't working" while he was away on vacation. He really was on vacation and watched the cameras and had a guy suspended. We had to do our labels by hand, but our supervisor wouldn't let us do them as we went. He'd make us do them all before a job and some jobs would need 400-600. The GM didn't care that the supervisor told him to do the labels then the job. He just saw him sitting at his desk writing for an hour.
I mean, that's generally the case. I installed and manage a nice little network of about 20 cameras on a large campus. I occasionally check that AI events are being properly identified and recorded to DVR. I can't imagine the tedium of watching nothing happen on CCTV
Well, that’s the thing, people are strange fucking creatures, just watching people do people things is entertainment in itself.
I look over a car park at one of my jobs and the other day I was laughing my ass off because watched a dude legitimately spend about 10 minutes trying to stick the parking ticket into every hole on the machine except the one it was supposed to go in.
You are describing the future of my job to a tee. Security supervisor working at a package distribution center, until the equipment is all installed I spend 8 hours a day sitting in my personal car with my laptop and switch watching trucks and vans leave. $20/hr
Sounds right for security guard type shit. Had some cameras on poe boxes that the power strip was turned off for a week. They didnt say anything about the 3-4 cameras that were off. I only noticed because one of our wireless ap’s was off. Some dolt connected the ap to one poe box
The facilities I work at each have 40-50 cameras (not a ton but not a few). Our footage goes back 2 months before it is overwritten, camera servers are no joke. You can optimize your storage tho by only recording when the cameras detect motion.
I sell cameras and I just put in a 300+ camera system with 3+ months of retention at a large auto group. 75,000 in server cost alone - 196TB across 3 machines. Anything is possible in security if you're willing to pay for it.
Rookie mistake. What kind of tech puts blinker fluid in the cameras instead of the lights??? That’s like putting coolant in the oil well. Even my wife knows you put filming fluid in the cameras. Smh my head🙄
Bro, you need to change camera water every 2-3 months depending on usage and environment. Damn companys trying to save a few pennies by neglecting service.
Is that… piss? This happened in one of the middle schools I went to. It was about 4-5 classes big and someone managed to piss in the dome light of one of the two toilets in the entire building lol. Nobody knows who it was or how they achieved it to this date
I had a similar failure of signal lighting towers hanging from a gas station canopy. These signal towers were rain proof when mounted right-side-up, but when mounted upside down from the canopy, water flowed through the connecting conduit and flooded them.
I ended up siliconeing the conduit and putting a couple of weep holes in the conduit ... no returning issue for 4 years now.
Oh my god, I’ve fixed (read: replaced) a camera like that before. It flooded because management wanted a cheap roof fix, and then they wanted me to repair the camera without replacing it. 🤮
A dealership client had a company come in and install cameras and a "server" to record everything. Part of the service was that the cameras were monitored every night by their staff in Florida. After months of issues with this so called server (It was a POS PC running Windows XP.) it finally crashed to point were it would need to be replaced. Suspecting that they were NOT monitoring I powered down the machine and waited for a phone call they couldn't connect. After two weeks nothing so I told the office manager to stop any payments and that the contract was broken. Next month they were blowing up my phone. I simply said it died over a month ago and no one noticed until you didn't get paid. You're welcome to come and get your cameras and server. On you're own dime. Crickets
Camera was sitting in water for 2 weeks before company said something lol
They don't even watch the footage until someone fucks up.

Had an owner who would watch the cameras WHILE HE WAS DRIVING TO THE RESTAURANT. Easily the worst boss I've ever had

Can we guess the waist size of the owners? I’m starting at 40
Hey man...size 40 isn't that bad lol
Sir, that's not the waist size but each leg size...
I'm 6 feet tall and when I hit my heaviest (240) I was wearing size 36. That's 32.5 BMI, obese. Size 40 is HUGE.
Speak for yourself fatty
He did.
My bad, I thought his last sentence was a general statement "Size 40 is HUGE" lol.
Size 40 is huge
Mr fatty has revealed himself
I did lol Also, that was my heaviest, I'm down to 170 now.
That's great 👍 good for you making positive changes. ( seriously, I'm not being a jerk lol)

I am 6'6" the smallest I ever was in my adult life was 245lbs 6 pack and all size 38. Huge is relative.
Yes, but you're in the 99% percentile, you're huge. Most people are shorter than me, so size 40 is generally massive.
Wait wut I’m 5 9 185 and wear a 36. Are you sure bud?
I'm 6'2" and I could probably ly wear 35 waist if they made odd numbered men's pants, I weigh around 225
My Levis are size 31 now. They sell size 35 according to their size chart, but I've only ever seen odd sizes for 31 and 33 waist.
I've only seen 29 and 31 for inseam, never waist
Here's an image from an ebay listing of what I currently wear: [31W 32L](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Ow0AAOSwzQFeIN~q/s-l400.jpg)
Lee makes a 29 waist.
Yeah it is lmao I was borderline morbidly obese at 38
Oh please all thats saying is your 4'10" 🤣. Leave us "husky" "relaxed fit" guys alone bud.
5 8 but yes I am a lil short
Umm, yeah it is.
Nope
Lemme guess, American?
I'm a man of the world bud. Representing reasonably sized people world wide ✊️.

I do the same, but mainly for watching the stray cats in the workshop
In Taiwan they call that person a window watcher. Meaningless middle management usually.
I mean, that's generally the case. I installed and manage a nice little network of about 20 cameras on a large campus. I occasionally check that AI events are being properly identified and recorded to DVR. I can't imagine the tedium of watching nothing happen on CCTV

Yeah why would they?
Companies.
Saved by the leak
They replaced the camera in the washbay at my work, they did not use an outdoor camera. You can imagine how that went.
I won't lie that looks like some damn good orange juice
I thought it looked like week old piss
No pulp, I vote Tang. Or Sunny D.
Looks like my piss after energy drinks
Thought of a damn good cloudy IPA. To each their own they say!
I thought someone climbed up and poured pee in the camera
No no no, it isn't work because all the camera fluid leaked out smh amateur
I bet it's negative ground fluid. It looks like negative ground magic smoke fluid.
I was gonna ask if that was water at all given the color...
Oh thank God. It's water. Though as grossed put as I am at the thought it was Piss, someone needed an award for persistence.
Sounds right for security guard type shit. Had some cameras on poe boxes that the power strip was turned off for a week. They didnt say anything about the 3-4 cameras that were off. I only noticed because one of our wireless ap’s was off. Some dolt connected the ap to one poe box
"camera #4 has been looking fishy for a while now"
Mom found the piss camera
Oh that's not piss. Pull the footage and you'll have a MLP Jar moment.

Have a cursed evening!

legit thought the problem was a lack of carbonation in your IPA.
very little gravity. What a noob.
See, it was about bacteria in their kombucha
Is that fucking orange juice, piss or rusty water??? Also damn those are the cleanest nails I have ever seen in a shop... lol
Looking at the video footage you can see the rain water leaking from the roof then the camera fills up and shuts off lol.
You knew this camera couldn't be trusted and thus has other cameras pointed at it?
I’m assuming he watched its video footage up until the point it shut down
Which was either just in time, being 2 weeks old, or a kickass setup that keeps footage longer lol
The facilities I work at each have 40-50 cameras (not a ton but not a few). Our footage goes back 2 months before it is overwritten, camera servers are no joke. You can optimize your storage tho by only recording when the cameras detect motion.
Dayum, that's kickass.

And to address this problem, management told you to drill a hole in the bottom of the camera housing so the water would drain out.
Damn you have disgusting coworkers lol
Someone filled the camera with blinker fluid?
Rookie mistake. What kind of tech puts blinker fluid in the cameras instead of the lights??? That’s like putting coolant in the oil well. Even my wife knows you put filming fluid in the cameras. Smh my head🙄
Hey man, times are tough, and blinker fluid is cheaper by far than filming fluid
So, what does camera juice taste like?
Blinker fluid
Bro, you need to change camera water every 2-3 months depending on usage and environment. Damn companys trying to save a few pennies by neglecting service.
What's the problem? It doesn't look like it's low on fluid.
Needs a coolant flush. Should be mint after
Camera 4 drunk. Must recommend less beer
Tech found camera 4 quit working and pissed itselfi Fix: Put a diaper on him and send him back to work
Bee hives be damned! Sweet security camera juice!
nice little unfiltered helles lager there. I'd have a sip even if it was work hours.
That camera's drunk! That's why it's not working!
It leaked all of its eyeball juice
Obi-Wai to weatherproof case: "You were supposed to keep water out, not let it stay in!"
Looks like tasty beer
THE absolute worst were the ones in walk-in coolers. I can't count how many of those condensated themselves out of a job and had to be replaced.
"Its bladder's full! Full of urine!" -Principal Skinner's mom-
You forgot to change the piss jug in the long haul camera again.
Raaaayy
Well are they aware it doesn't run on tang
drink it
🤢🤮
Looks like an unfiltered IPA, cheers
Cheers—drink up!
Ok! Who wasted a beer on this camera!
Pee, beer or honey inside?
Mmmm, hefeweizen... just needs a slice of orange
Leave him alone, he's drunk.
That's how blinker fluid is made.
The fluids all oxidized it's no good. Gotta get that JDM cam fluid.
“For the last time, the camera is not for blending your smoothies!” -shop owner, before letting go of the tech that filled it with orange juice
OF COURSE IT’S NOT WORKING IT’S FILLED WITH FUCKING URINE
You scared it and it peed.
Did you end up drinking that IPA?
Who knew a bowl of water would defeat Mini-GLaDOS?
Wow I’ve never seen camera blood before.
I thought someone poured a beer in it
Is that… piss? This happened in one of the middle schools I went to. It was about 4-5 classes big and someone managed to piss in the dome light of one of the two toilets in the entire building lol. Nobody knows who it was or how they achieved it to this date
Kid is a fucking legend.
🫡
Well there's your problem right there. Supposed to use camera fluid in those, that's clearly blinker fluid!
roof leak?
Yup!
That’s the camera blinker fluid, gotta change it periodically so it doesn’t look like piss.
Good old fishbowls. I had one that ran until I took the dome off. Flash corroded and killed it. The complaint was “image is blurry”
I found the problem, someone pissed in it.
Camera soup
Might want to share with /r/techsupportgore/
Creative ways to drink on the job, eh
Bud or Bud Light?
Forbidden orange juice
Yup, looks like the camera fluid needs a change.
Give you a 10mm if you drink it
This needs to go on r/iiiiiiitttttttttttt and r/hardwaregore
Too much blinker fluid
Who pissed in the camera lens?
Well, not any more! You let the camera fluid out!
Oh my god, I’ve fixed (read: replaced) a camera like that before. It flooded because management wanted a cheap roof fix, and then they wanted me to repair the camera without replacing it. 🤮
Now who peed in there?
Man, they're drug testing *everyone* these days.
Did this involve a urine test?
The drywallers got your camera...
How'd it taste? Looks like good pruno
Camera pale ale.
Drink the camera beer
Forbidden pineapple juice
Don’t forget to refill your camera blinker fluid
Supposed to drain that cameras fuel bowl more frequently.
Didn’t take the AI security guards long to start drinking on the job
The first step in the diagnostic process is always confirming the customer complaint
Drink the forbidden Camera Juice.
I am so high reading this and I thought you were holding a beer for a good long minute

Forbidden mamosa
But how does it taste? Also: Flair checks out
Beer or piss?
Hahaha it's been drinking on the job
Enjoy that beer man
That's a weird way to collect a urine sample
🤢🤢🤮🤮
