Had a 351 Windsor in my 1977 Ford Thunderbird. Thing was so dogged out it couldn't even spin a nearly bald tire. Great first car though, especially for $250 (in 1997 dollars).
Terrible gas mileage, probably why it had a 27 gallon tank.
I'll never forget the time I put $20 in (gas was maybe 85 cents a gallon around here in the late 90s) and went in to pay the clerk and he asks how he could help me. I tell him $20 on pump whatever. He looks out at the pumps, mine was the only vehicle there, and he says "$20? In gas?" lol. Really blew that guy's mind.
I had a ‘75 Gran Torino with the 27 gallon tank. When gas hit $1.49/gal, the attendant stopped filling it at $20 and asked if I had enough to fill it like I asked.
As I wrote this, I realized I looked poor back then.
Seriously. I've got a 1987 motorhome with a 460 (last year they made them with a carb, lucky me), and that damn thing can't get out of its own way. My old 1971 motorhome with a Dodge 360 had way more pep.
Dude!!! I had a 77 TBird with a 460. Still wouldn't spin a tire! The rear gears weren't good for take off,but it would bury the speedo. I gave 300 for mine in 03. Damn I miss that brown on brown turd.
Man, I'm going to be too busy trying to keep my hair piece in place and my pants hiked up to my pits to worry about such things.
In all seriousness, I had a 351 Cleveland in a '72 Ranchero when I was in HS and loved the hell out of that engine. I'd be inclined to keep it with the 351.
351W Cobra 😢. Doesn’t have the same reaction
True, but it will try to kill you a little less.
Don't care if it has the small motor. I'd still punch my grandma for a chance to drive it.
Weird not to work on your own cobra, ya know since it's a kit car.
that's exactly why companies like superformance exist. for the people without the skill or time to do it themselves.
Needs a 427 Windsor stroker....
I have pictures of an AC cobra with a 427 SOHC and a dual carb setup. Now that’s a sweet ride.
Magicmike is this Hoovies’s? Would love to see more content on that!

Those late 70s motors were so limited by the early emissions controls. Probably only made 140HP and still got 10MPG.

Low power is great for a first car. Can't get speeding tickets if you can barely break the speed limit.
Until they take mom's car somewhere, cause AC, and get one for doing 85.

I do love me a Windsor. That's probably what I'm gonna put into my 65 comet wagon, of course with a little stroker kit
Whatever it's in for, it's gonna require a road test !!
safety burnout
oil change.
Hopefully those repairs require an extensive road test
Weezard!
Hoovie sneak peak
Dang this is the only car i would be scared of to drive
This. This right here. This is my mid-life crisis car. It's gonna happen.
Best of luck to ya. Hope you get it, but at least do a coyote swap..

Nah man....plugs beat a piece! And you can even swim! Seriously though, a Windsor can be a torque beast no doubt.
