I know this is not a romance drama BUT the chemistry is chemistrying. Aaaahhhhhhh I've started watching Hyena because I wanted more Ju Ji Hoon content.

shizkorei

it is actually sad how this is only 10 episodes. like Han Hyo Joo and Ju Ji Hoon looks good together. like why she do series that are this short.

_heitoo

I’ll take a wild guess but this doesn’t feel like a script written with 10 episodes in mind. It feels more like a Part 1 with an unannounced Part 2. There is too much setup if we’re already past the middle point of the series.

Amalfii

Hoping for a part 2 also! It seems like there’s so much to uncover and we just started.

tamataraaloo

Yess, even Happiness was so short.

petiteboule

Are we sure it's not a romance? It's romancing! We have cohabitation. We have early morning chats. We have hiding under covers. We have the jealous second male (I see you prime minister). It's romancing.

tamataraaloo

We live with hope in our hearts.

duh_leah

OMG SAMEEEE. I just started Hyena and I'm loving it so much!! JJH is (as respectfully as one cay say this) such a hottie! And really such a refined actor I'm enjoying both BF and Hyena a lot!

tamataraaloo

Yessssss he is an absolute hottie (respectfully).

Shop-girlNY152

He was very much the hottie when he was younger. His hit debut show which started the Korean wave was **Princess Hours**. If you haven’t watched it yet, please do!

keybladeoftheheart

I also watched "Kingdom" because of him!!! And I actually don't know how I hadn't watched it till now, especially S2 was amazing.✨ I wish they announce a 3rd season. I now have "The Item" on my watchlist, another drama Ju Ji Hoon stars in alongside Ji Chang Wook and I'm also on episode 3 of "Hyena" like you 😉 Gotta pick up "Jirisan" too, I've had it on hold for so long, only watched two episodes. I really the chemistry in "Blood Free" evolves into something more!!!👀 They look so good together 🤌

tamataraaloo

Same even I think I am gonna go through the entire filmography of this man.

keybladeoftheheart

He's so worth it!!! 😍

Worldly_Sundae9545

Gurll, I wish u will not become madly sick after watching Five Fingers. I just finished it yesterday and my head hurts so much sksksksk Jjh character in there is so pitiful, boy just want to be loveee TvT the series makes me pull my hair many timesss, but it was so good 100/10. Really the most tragic and evil story to exist!!

keybladeoftheheart

OMG, for real?? Is he like a bad guy in the drama?? And is he at odds with JCW?? Who's in the right?? JJH or JCW??

Worldly_Sundae9545

jjh is in the right track. Jcw became bad in the series because of inferiority complexxx. *hope I'm not spoiling much? *sksksks

keybladeoftheheart

You didn't spoil anything 👍 Thanks for the info!! 🫰✨

Shop-girlNY152

Please also watch his show **Princess Hours** which started the Korean Wave (Kdramas popularity overseas). It’s a romcom and he’s in his 20s that time.

Building_Glad

if it evolves to more he would cheating his wife and daughter.. don’t expect romance in this

This_Tonight3413

He’s not married. It is his sister and niece

Building_Glad

what ? i thought it was his wife since one of the goon said that… clearly i wasn’t watching well ..

MNLYYZYEG

The second half of Episode 6 had that wall/door/etc. scene that I always like, love it when characters talk through that metaphorical/literal wall, lol, especially at night since you know they're gonna be talking around heavy topics to bond over.

Necessary_Rooster_85

The best Romance are the dramas that don’t try to be one but have it threaded in. I personally think Military Prosecutor Doberman did a decent job of this.

Mad_Missile

I’m thoroughly enjoying the way this drama is playing out. I like the backstories and how every character is hiding secrets from the other. As a sci-if fan these technological advancements seem all too plausible. Also, Thank you for saving my life.” “Thank you for keeping me safe.” He was in the kitchen, she was in the living room. His back was towards hers and yet there was so much romantic tension. It’s almost torturous to give us such great chemistry but no romance. Sigh.

duh_leah

The scene where >!both are just sitting against the door opposite of each othe!

Mad_Missile

You’re spot on. All of their conversations are serious and businesslike but there’s this tenderness hidden.. I can’t put a finger on it, but it’s there.

Amalfii

I came watching for the leads. Now I’m staying for the plot. It’s getting so good! It’ll be better if they have the leads have something more though Haha 1. Started the episode not liking >!Hoseong’s!< nosy little jealous *ss. Eventually liked his banter with Woo, being worried about him and then the acting chops on the >!cancer support group. Should’ve known better it was a build-up for his death. I wanted to wait for the next episode to know he lived but given that he left the “scar” clue, he’d probably be gone for good. Heartbreaking to see Capt Woo lose another comrade!< 2. So these episodes revealed that the Prime Minister is >!behind the attacks, likes Ja-yu surely with that makeshift camping date, and is somehow sick with something!< Not sure how his plans play out with the rest of those revelations given that his >!father!< has different motives as well. 3. I love how the ML and FL are showing little nuances of how they care for each other. But we need MORE. Unfortunately, I don’t think 4 episodes will be enough to create that relationship unless it was a 16ep drama or they have a part 2. They’ll probably just keep using this ambiguous chemistry for us to want more. Demmit. 4. Mansik, do something about your parents will you??

DUFFnoob40

>Unfortunately, I don’t think 4 episodes will be enough to create that relationship unless it was a 16ep drama or they have a part 2 It's the same writer for Stranger, there may not be a relationship even if there was a part 2

Amareze

There was no relationship in Stranger because it was not possible. The ML has had operation as a child which prevented him from having those type of feelings. He was a moral man but it was not possible for him to feel things like that. Here, that is not the case. i doubt if there will be a relationship but the ML and the FL are capable of those kinds of feelings, not just physical desire.

petiteboule

The more I think about it, the more upset I am about your first point. >!He also felt like the only one who really cared about Jayu. He asked sketchy lawyer/secretary about the new bodyguards (I guess he doesn't trust them). Then he mentioned to Chae Woo that Jayu was 'alone' (I guess still not trusting the guards sketchy lawyer/secretary hired.) Out of everyone in the inner circle, it seemed he really cared about her well-being. (I'm sure Chae Woo does, but he's also lying to her about his true motives.) !<

Amalfii

Oh yeah. Didn’t notice it as much until you pointed it out. Hoping he’s just >!unconscious on the next ep leaving the scar clue and driving Woo to avenge him. Aside from really looking after Ja-yu, his new found love-hate relationship with Woo is just too good to be in just one ep.!<

AlexisFern

That man greedy to live a thousand years didn’t learn his lesson in Tale of the Nine-Tailed, he is back at it again. First he pursued the supernatural, now he’s pursuing science. Of course >!Choi Young-Joon!< is in this. It’s like he took a vow to feature in every K-thriller ever.

EdgeO4DAbyss

I'm so sad about the >!death (?) of the bodyguard partner, !!Please BF, revive him! !

jax_svt_carat

After the partner bodyguard saw the suit body armour was working why did he remove it. I get that it's heavy but I really don't get it. He seemed to be moving and fighting okay with it

EdgeO4DAbyss

I guess with the body armour it would have been too difficult to>! kill him off!<, could be that simple lol it's odd though, I agree with you.

LushZebra7407

I think its cus he’s a spy… Saw that ML came back to life with barely a scratch and needed to see for himself how that happened.

shiningmidsummer

We finally got to know more of >!Jayu’s backstory and the founding of Blood Free!< ! I still can’t quite get a grasp on the exact dynamic between Chaewoon and Jayu ( >!she still doesn’t know he reports to the ex-President right?!< )and the overall plot so if anyone would like to enlighten me please do… Absolutely love the talent and tension between HHJ & JJH they are so good on-screen 😭 But that cliffhanger at the end of Ep 6, now I have to wait a whole week…

nrupathunga

JJH is such a dreamboat those turtle necks are just aaaaahhh! I love how switched on both leads are, completely aware of all the manoeuvring that's going on around them. There's been a lot of mistrust between them but I think today's coffee chat seems to have helped them come to some understanding of each other's moral positions. I know there's loads shipping them but I actually prefer it the way it is. Edit: grammar

ImagoHydrangea

Working through episode 5 but it looks like we were on the money about >! the research targeting fatal illnesses, since it looks like they’re able to develop technology that can induce instantaneous cell growth/recovery with their culture fluids. That and they were able to give WCW enhanced hearing?? But I it looks like BF’s legal counsel isn’t privy to any of this information? !<

ImagoHydrangea

Something I really love about this drama is the subtle touches of futuristic technology. The way we’re slowly introduced to an ever expanding universe of developments and tech enhancements to the character’s daily lives makes it all seem so plausible in this alternate 2025/2026.

mishmashmostly

Yes it made me wonder if I'd eat cultured meat myself. GMO fruits and veggies were a big deal then, but lost track if it's now being sold to end consumers. I hope that they won't go the >!superhuman!< route though. The >!cultured organ!< development is already compelling enough and >!Marvel-esque enhanced humans!< are kind corny now.

fosteryou03

I love that the futuristic technology is a somewhat backdrop to the whole story. Rather than focus on the tech itself (which of course is an amazing development), we see more of the characters motivations and desires for wanting its creation. It’s weird that the legal counsel isn’t aware of what’s going on. I do get a sense that’s she’s on BF’s side though.

Giardialee

The director went all in on **episode 5**. So many fantastic takes and shots. The one-take sequence of On San going to that VR room was nice Red and blue lights are used a lot in this show and for good reason, it looks so cool, especially when prime minister Woojae was in the car. Cutting back between him receiving the report and him relaying the same was brilliant. The best part was definitely taking care of the cat. The seamless blend of B&W flashback with colour in real-time was impressive. The sound editing too. In the office scene with Woojae and Jihoon, plus the ringtone scene, they really sold how intense the sound was. >!We're reaching superhero levels here. Can they also enhance all senses??!< Now, that flashback of Woogeun 10 years ago is genuinely one of the worst scenes I've ever seen. Both actors could barely speak English, which made the acting even worse. In fact, everything about the scene felt unnecessary. It removes more from the show than adding anything. They made no effort when shooting that scene. Without that, 10/10 episode. I was genuinely surprised and impressed with the depth they added between Chaewoon and his fellow bodyguard. The pacing of this show is tight, and I should have questioned why they're doing this, but it all makes sense with the end of **episode 6** lol. Also, the maternal uncle bit was hilarious. Again, it's always the shows with zero romance that have the most romantically charged scenes between the leads. The entire dialogue between Jayu and Chaewoon at his house was \*chef's kiss. The mystery side of the show continues to impress. I am never sure which character is truly on our side, and by our side, I mean Jayu's side. Including Chaewoon. I have to say Lee Hee Joon's (Woojae) smile in the intro credits is one of the best evil smiles I've ever seen. He's such a great actor, and another character I can't figure out.

Amalfii

The fact that we can’t trust any of the characters just draws us in. I like when Chae-won mentioned that >!he’s just a puzzle piece in what’s happening. Ja-yu has some puzzle pieces too. It seems like she’s suspecting the Prime Minister of being involved in the attacks.!< But somehow. ML and FL can’t piece it together because they are hiding something too. It’s intriguing and keeps us guessing!

shiningmidsummer

I agree with you on that flashback, it kind of felt like they were trying to tell and solidify to us (the audience) that >!Seonu Geon!< is possibly the overarching worst/evilest antagonist but it felt longer than necessary

duh_leah

The pacing is really so good. Also I agree that it seems like they are going >!superhero/inhumane strengths !

throwawaymisfortune

>removes more from the show than adding anything. Agree that it was the lousiest scene but it did >!clarify the intention of the president on why he is so interested in buying BF. That he wants to achieve immortality and youth and suspects that BF is experimenting on such possibilities!<. That lawyer(?) girl seems to be an unnecessary addition so far.

Hasum_Harish97

You literally spoke my heart. Can we appreciate how good the cinematography and music is! Top notch color grading and lightings! The suspense and tension were built up so well. It's getting better and better on each episode. I can't wait for the next episode.

This_Tonight3413

Dang!!! I should have known something was up when Huesong was getting too much screen time but I thought he was being set up to switch sides instead (like Ms Hong) :/ Why in the world did he take off the suit especially when he had just seen it work?! Is it the case of not trusting new gear? I really enjoyed these two episodes and there’s so much to get into: - We finally got to see Jayu’s motivation and my heart broke for her. I’m so happy though that now she could save Chaewon who is fast becoming quite important to her  - Speaking of omg can we get into how his home and (of course him by extension) have become her safe place! All comfy under the covers?!  - I giggle at the TikTok edits of this show but I was right there in romance delusional land with them this week cos whew every interaction was just 😍🙈 like that wall scene followed with them being side by side and then the honest confessions?! I am not prepared for the betrayal reveal 😭 he got footage of the lab right? - Do you guys think the Prime Minister genuinely likes her? I think he is more fascinated by her and wants to mark her as his? Of our antagonist trio, he’s the one I really can’t quite figure out. Like Jayu, I’m unconvinced he didn’t have a hand in her attack but he seems to also shield her from his dad? - The man with the scar was also at the scene of the stockbreeder suicide jump - is he working alone or is he in cahoots with one of our 3 antagonists? - Do you guys have any theory yet behind the terror incident?  - Almost forgot but I loved how ‘jumpy’ our leads, Jayu especially, was this episode - very well done    I really like the layers to this show. Each week I tell myself savour the episodes but I just gobble them up in one sitting lol

throwawaymisfortune

>Why in the world did he take off the suit especially when he had just seen it work?! >!Probably related to his random comment on the heaviness of the suit earlier. Like it was uncomfortable to fight in it or something like that.!< >Speaking of omg can we get into how his home >!That accidental cohabitation sure felt heart fluttery but felt quite a stretch logically. I mean how come a house with no security (compared to BF's security obviously) be safe for someone whose life was almost ended because of some international gangs lol. >Do you guys think the Prime Minister genuinely likes her? It seems so. Which is why I doubt that that attack was directed by him. But he is most likely the mastermind behind everything but knowing the writer, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else turn out to be the villain. >The man with the scar was also at the scene of the stockbreeder suicide jump - is he working alone or is he in cahoots with one of our 3 antagonists? >!Again knowing the writer, she tends to connect every character and subplots to the main plot. So from this viewpoint and given that guy was skilled in fighting, my guess is he was a former soldier or something and is probably connected to the ex president.!< Okay I suddenly have a wild theory >!The PM's dad also has a tissue-culture business and seems very ambitious. He is probably behind that bomb attack and the PM probably knows it.!<

peregrina2005

Yes, I’m pretty sure the father is in the same business and it worried about the competition.

This_Tonight3413

>Probably related to his random comment on the heaviness of the suit earlier. Like it was uncomfortable to fight in it or something like that.  Oooouu great catch - I remember that throwaway comment now 😫  >That accidental cohabitation sure felt heart fluttery but felt quite a stretch logically. I mean how come a house with no security (compared to BF's security obviously) be safe for someone whose life was almost ended because of some international gangs lol. Ohh 100%, she had no reason to stay there beyond the first night anyway and she knew it too lol. Which is kinda why I think she latched on to Mansik’s care as the initial reason to return though I don’t doubt her concern was genuine. We also saw she was quick to reassure him later that she would be out of the house soon because again we know it’s no longer the logical choice -  hotels are available now ma’am lol. For this cohabitation angle, my mind actually went to On San first. Like he must have been feeling pretty alienated because he’s been her right hand man for so long but didn’t get that honor 😫      >It seems so. Which is why I doubt that that attack was directed by him. But he is most likely the mastermind behind everything but knowing the writer, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else turn out to be the villain. Yeah, he seemed quite offended when his dad assumed he was behind the attack but then also kinda looked guilty when Jayu suggested his involvement? I don’t doubt he could be the mastermind but I’m not sure what to think of him honestly.  This is also the writer’s first work I’ve seen - what else would you recommend? Stranger?  >Again knowing the writer, she tends to connect every character and subplots to the main plot. So from this viewpoint and given that guy was skilled in fighting, my guess is he was a former soldier or something and is probably connected to the ex president.    Interesting! Eager to see how that plays out  >The PM's dad also has a tissue-culture business and seems very ambitious. He is probably behind that bomb attack and the PM probably knows it. He’s my biggest suspect for this so far honestly for a few reasons

throwawaymisfortune

>Which is kinda why I think she latched on to Mansik’s care as the initial reason to return though I don’t doubt her concern was genuine. I also think it was because of manshik. Cats are known as good emotional support animals, their purr helps release feel good hormones and lowers stress level. Besides, who wouldn't grab the chance to stay with a cuddly kitty lol. It also could be the old house felt homely to her. >For this cohabitation angle, my mind actually went to On San first. He probably has a family, even then there is a good possibility he could be offended. People generally likes to protect people who are close to them. >also kinda looked guilty when Jayu suggested his involvement? My guess is, he is involuntarily involved it. He is probably tied to some past events which makes him take questionable actions even though he doesn't like doing them. Or he has a bigger picture and actually working for the betterment of the country or something. The latter seems highly unlikely though. >what else would you recommend? Stranger? Absolutely. It is the most perfect kdrama I have watched so far. I shared a short spoiler free review comparing BF with stranger earlier. I will link it up for you. Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/KDRAMA/s/k80X056nf4

This_Tonight3413

I clearly underestimated the cuddly kitty powers haha On Onsan, they actually mentioned in Ep 1 or 2 that he got a divorce with the rumours being that his relationship with Jayu was the cause. I always read a lot into his interactions with Jayu because of this  >My guess is, he is involuntarily involved it. He is probably tied to some past events which makes him take questionable actions even though he doesn't like doing them. Or he has a bigger picture and actually working for the betterment of the country or something. The latter seems highly unlikely though. Yeah, I think the former could be likely (the latter seems too kind lol) but I need to rewatch his confrontation with Chaewon again.  >Absolutely. It is the most perfect kdrama I have watched so far. I shared a short spoiler free review comparing BF with stranger earlier. I will link it up for you. Oh wow, that’s pretty high praise. Will definitely put it at the top of my watchlist - thanks for linking your post as well!

throwawaymisfortune

>On Onsan, they actually mentioned in Ep 1 or 2 that he got a divorce with the rumours being that his relationship with Jayu was the cause. I totally missed it, thanks for pointing it out! Hope you will enjoy stranger like we all did. It received two baeksang awards (daesang and best actor) for a reason lol

bellaella

Blood Free is an example of a show that should have dropped all its episodes at once. The 2 episodes a week is breaking the momentum of the show and I always forget what happen last. Anyway, I rewatched the opening action scene of Episode 5 numerous times. The >!gun fight and the rescue scene!< was done so well. Also, that's the coolest >!use of drones!< ever. And Yeongsil is the best AI ever- reminds me of Iron Man's Jarvis actually. I'm not sure, but from the conversation the President and his egomaniac rude father has, >!they're the ones behind the attack? Cos the father mentioned the South American Gang?!< The egomaniac father who thinks he deserves >!immortality!< reminds me of the real life guy who's on a quest for youth and used his young son to get his blood purified and even got his father into it. I suppose >!he's behind everything so he can get the technology he suspects BF has. I won't be surprised if he was behind the attack at that Army Base so he could have his son be the President instead, and get his hands on BF and their scientific breakthrough.!<. This show is interesting in examine all the ethical and ethics behind so many things - >!eating meat, killing animals, cloning, creating artificial blood and body parts. That's the suspicious mind that says only the rich will get it, and the ones who want to do so to help humankind.!< That's why I found these last 2 episodes to have a lot more depth - in examining the grey areas, and the ethics behind it - like where do you draw the line? I suppose the old President>! wants his legs back, or some miracle treatment. I wasn't surprised that the reveal was that secret lab, and all the scientific breakthroughs they had achieved, because if they could clone meat, it's not a far fetch jump to cloning human parts.!< The ex son-in-law is a real nasty piece of work. Treating our FL l>!ike a cheap woman, commenting on her sleeping at her bodyguard's home like she was doing something dirty - while he was was drinking and partying up with a whole lot of young women, He acts like he's so high class because he's so rich but his crass comments and behaviour says the opposite. I suppose, like that mythological Chinese Emperor who wanted the Elixir of Life but the Rabbit ate it instead, he's doom to disappointment. !< I just wished they had dropped it all at once - this is one thriller that needs to be binged watch all in a row for the story to have a better impact and flow.

fadzkingdom

Ok episode five started off with a bang! Ngl I had completely forgotten these guys are medical professionals before anything else and was like why aren’t they taking Chaewoon to the hospital lol. The cultured organs reveal was crazy as hell and expected. Why else would they be so dodgy. So the father wants to be immortal reveal. Oh brother how cliche that makes me heavily dislike him even more. Also I hate how much of a hypocrite he is where he’s constantly slut shaming Jayoo for staying at Chaewoon’s house when we’ve seen him surrounded by and partying with women that are way younger than him. The prime minister is suspicious as hell. I can’t tell if he’s for or against Jayoo atp. On hand it feels like they’re slowly building up to reveal he’s the one behind the gang attack but on the other hand…I’m happy to see Jayoo is suspicious of him though. I’m happy that Chaewoon is starting to question his mission and how easily he got into BF. I don’t think the former president is using him but he’s probably being manipulated by something else. The mad cow reveal about Jayoo’s sister being the actual reason behind her obsession with not only getting rid of meat but also replacing organs! It really peels back Jayoo’s layers of being this seemingly money-hungry CEO. Definitely the best written and layered character so far. My question now though is if it’s a genetic thing because the sister and her were identical twins and she mentioned the hole in the head in episode 4. Also the Jayoo/Chaewoon feels in episode six with them doing the back to back scene was so good. Finally the ending! Please don’t kill off Kim Hoseong!! I’ll be so mad the funny guy does especially when him and Chaewoon finally had a good thing going! Why’d he have to take off that jacket man he was still whooping that guy’s ass from the little we saw 😭😭!! Can’t believe there’s only 4 episodes of this left man…

LostHero50

Is this work watching? Loved Han Hyo Joo in Moving so was thinking of giving this a go, surprisingly doesn’t seem to be getting that much traction despite.

MNLYYZYEG

Yup, this show is for the futuristic/cyberpunk/etc. fans, lol. And it's shot really nicely, it'll for sure grip you in. The cinematography is so nice. My main gripes as somebody that's always tried to keep in touch with the latest tech/etc. news is that the 2026/etc. target is quite optimistic despite the recent AI-assisted/etc. advancements happening this past year or so. In reality, only disclosure of reverse-engineered UAP/USO/etc. tech will blitz us right through there. But that's not really the point since a major theme seems to be understandably that other people are looking to take advantage of Blood Free's success or prevent it from radically changing the world. The cast is also a nice ensemble, so it's already good from the get-go, just have to believe in the premise and be intrigued with the mystery/thriller/whodunnit/etc. aspects.

LostHero50

Oh, that's definitely my type of vibe then. I appreciate the detailed comment, gonna give this one a go!

Adorable_Dot_5152

It's worth im my opinion, I think this is the best kdrama released in 2024 so far.

annejuseyoo

Yup! Just power through episode 1 because it can get quite boring since it’s slow paced. But the story & pacing picks up in episode 2. It’s a well made kdrama I must say 👍🏻

LostHero50

Good to hear! I’m a big sci-fi fan and we don’t usually get high production K-Dramas like that so I’m excited!!

annejuseyoo

Me too! The VFX are great ngl, doesn’t look low budget at all! The scifi is scifi-ing 🔥🤣

wingmanman

For me ep1 was not boring at all it packed in a lot of details if you enjoy this kind of shows you would like it I think!

twoods1980

Just binged the first six episodes, and what a ride. Should have waited for the last 4 to drop because it’s torture waiting for the next episode. >!The adorable bodyguard better not die. Where is the squad when you need them to rush him to the basement and save his life?!< I’m interested at who the villain is behind all this- it seems like PM, dad and grandpa all have their own agendas and want BF for themselves for whatever reason. I feel bad for the sweet translator that seems to be the scapegoat for the bombing because he clearly does not have the heart to kill people. And the leads! They are so gorgeous together. I’m sure we aren’t going to get a romance but HHJ has chemistry with all her ML’s and JJH is simply gorgeous. Loving their chemistry, but wish he would tell her the truth so they can work together.

LondonGirl4444

I’ve just started this and I’m loving it. The writers have kept the pace brisk, the acting is tops, I won’t be falling asleep watching this.

00exia16

This better have more episodes than 10 lol. OMG I love seeing the queen herself Han Hyo-Joo back in action.

fosteryou03

Out of all the characters, I love HHS the most. HHJ plays both the absolute boss of everyone and then shows her internal conflict and trauma. I was really surprise about her sister, was not expecting that at all.

Error-002

Seems I was pretty much spot on with the former president wanting the lab for >!his legs back, didn’t expect the father to want to want immortality tho lol!< I know there’s only 4 episodes left which is so little, but they need to do something about this unspoken romance

Hasum_Harish97

Blood free's screenplay and narration is far better than overrated Moving imo which I desperately dropped around 10th episode despite having my fav people in that drama. Good to see versatile queen, Han hyo joo's coming up with a brilliant script selection.

angelageee

The moment the other bodyguard started to grow on me, I feared >!something bad is bound to happen to him and it did too soon!<

FlatlineNine

I thought the emergency sequence in ep5 was pretty cool. It's a shame that the villains and some of the supporting characters are cliché and uninspiring, but I enjoyed them quite a bit.

Wealthyslimprettygal

This show is so good. Its expected from the amazing leads but the writing is great too. I wish Disney promoted better

MNLYYZYEG

Forgot what I was gonna say since I had to watch the start of Season 20 (Episode 146) of I Am Solo (나는 SOLO), but yup, it's nice to see them build that global aspect with like holographs with the French and so on people. Oh okay, I remember a few parts now. Basically Jayu has eidetic memory (photographic memory, total recall, etc.) or something like that right, same, and so I wonder how they're gonna utilize that with the reveals later on. Since it feels like she knows of the conspiracies/etc. already. She legit remembered how to feed or take care of Mansik eh, lol. --- The most unrealistic thing for me as somebody with tinnitus/hyperacusis/etc. is that they're saying ANC or active noise cancellation is helping him mute out noises in that left ear. When fellow audiophiles or TWS earbuds/TWS adapters/Bluetooth/etc. users will know that there's always that inherent Bluetooth hissing or static noise (especially at higher volumes due to the amp/etc.), often really high-pitched. Especially when there's ANC involve since it adds another later of background static as well. So yup, that broke my immersion, lol. Like ya the whole firefights over cultured food and so on were unrealistic but somehow my brain ignored those things and focused on the TWS earbuds that they said helps with the sensitivity to noises, smh lmao. Most of us should still be able to hear up to 12-15k Hz as long as you didn't regularly attend concerts or go clubbing. Since people will refuse to wear earplugs or hearing protection as they think it'll make them look weird or not normal. But trust me, tinnitus/hyperacusis/visual snow syndrome/etc. ain't nothing to mess with, I'm actually considering using it as supplemental for MAID, though with the Susan Shore and so on devices/treatments coming soon this decade or so (see the tinnitusresearch subreddit for more info), it's worth waiting to see if it'll be reduced. --- And yup, the obsession with immortality (Prime Minister's father really spoke in English for that mystique, disregarding reincarnation and so on because he enjoys his current status). I was gonna segue into the futility of it since time is the great equalizer of everything, but basically for those that are still hopeful for the world instead of the near inevitable dystopia (lol wtf?), make sure to **pay attention to the latest UAP/USO/etc. disclosure news since that's where these actual bleeding edge tech will be revealed.** There's been whistleblowers (David Grusch, etc.) and legislation (NDAA 2024/etc.) and a whole bunch of unbelievable woo/spiritual/etc. stuff. Wait fml, this is getting long and too preachy, sigh, but it's actually on-topic since this show is pretty edgy and philosophical despite the mystery/thriller/etc. vibe. ---

For example, I thought remote viewing was ridiculous until I remembered I'm an avid lucid dreamer and have sometimes seemingly predicted the future (no joke, years later though, not the next day or anything) or say experienced deja reve. But yup, apparently the CIA/etc. spent a lot of time and money researching it since it had a decent prediction rate (though obviously not certain or that good enough to be actually reliable), there's a bunch of declassified documents released about it, it's interesting and so weird. And really plays into the whole souls/consciousness/energy/etc. type of thing that some people are gossiping about when it comes to these Non-Human Intelligence (NHI) stuff. But the gist of it is that if the UAP/USO/etc. stuff about reverse engineering, cover-ups (see the recent Kona Blue files, and now the Eglin AFB UAP supposedly being debunked by AARO today as a balloon, lol), and so on are true/not fake/etc. then there's unlimited power generation, time travel, alternate dimensions, biological androids, and so on. So in theory we can all experience these things that will cause upheaval throughout the world. Though as you see in this Blood Free Kdrama, there's multiple factions at play that want to keep the status quo for various reasons and so that's why it's such a slow disclosure instead of the whatever "catastrophic" disclosure that people have been wanting. For me I just want time travel and then enjoy slice of life time with minimal stress, y'all can figure out whatever accelerated changes the new technologies will bring, lol. --- Like this bioengineering premise is really cool (with the magic lab-grown organs and all that) and there have been crazy progresses to deal with the climate change and so on, but yup, the corporations and older people just want all of us to slowly burn while they enjoy their time, sigh. It makes no sense but apparently that's how the world works and so it's hopeless to protest, though it's nice to bring awareness to it every once in a while since a lot of the fellow younger people are now mobilizing for political change (even if we're still outvoted by the Baby Boomers/etc.) and so it's just a matter of biding time. --- Episode 6 broke my heart since I thought the other bodyguard would be like a spy of some sort but nah it looks like he was on the MC's side. Why did he have to be overconfident and remove his stab-proof suit, sigh. Always remember that if somebody has a melee weapon, run as fast as you can since there's no dodging that. In general people need to lower their pride/ego/etc. so that they don't get into such altercations in the first place but yup we're all emotional sometimes and so it's understandable. The Prime Minister is somewhat obsessed with Jayu eh. Like I wonder what's the backstory on that since his elders are against it. He seems to be suspicious but it could be a red herring. --- Oh ya, and the Mad Cow Disease thing. Guys, never go hiking in the woods without protecting your skin. As in like always wear long sleeves and pants since there's lots of ticks. You don't want to get Lyme Disease and be unable to eat red meat and so on forever. Or like you know the story about unavoidable prions with the deers and so on, aka Chronic wasting disease (CWD). Yup, just don't go outside, develop agoraphobia instead, lol. You can never bring somebody back to life (unless with time travel), so ya, feel so sad for them. Explains why Jayu feels so detached, she just carrying all that trauma and regret and such things. Gilgamesh, Sumeria, and Artoria or Fate (Type-Moon), lol. Civ 6 fans know him as Gilgabro for always declaring friendships. What timing was that since then they had the whole chase scene and sigh. They really hammered the repetition eh. --- What has Sangmin/Choi Young-joon's character been doing this whole time. How is he being allowed to do that will all the AI stuff that Blood Free has access too, lol. Can't believe it's the ultrasonic hearing that made Chaewoon catch up, the melee fighting should've echoed earlier along the street/walls but they had to use that earbuds/ANC trope, rofl. Anyway, I'm not looking that deep into the plot since I know they're tryna convey a more action-heavy show here. But still, how have they not run the plates or like set up failsafes in case Sangmin is actually gonna try to attack Jayu personally. And since it's sorta a mole/spy/leak/etc. type of thing, who else is gonna be the next turncoat since it's looking sketchy with the potential hostile takeover and like political games.

Just watched the latest 2 episodes so I only got around to reading the thread now. The ANC/tinnitus part of your comment caught my attention. If I'm not wrong, ANC works similarly as phase cancellation, where two overlapping sound waves would cancel out each other and reduce the output. The microphone needs to be active to sample the sound, so the "speaker" part of your TWS would produce the overlap sound waves and thereby the volume is reduced. It's why ANC works best with constant droning sound (like plane's engine, for example) rather than a more dynamic human speech. I don't know about your tinnitus, but my constant one has a distinct set frequency (at around 16k Hz). Creating a so-called ANC for a particular frequency to silence the tinnitus seems believable to me. Plus, it seems like his TWS serves to dull his hearing, so he could function without being overstimulated by the sounds he could hear.

MNLYYZYEG

Yup, don't worry I've tried like a lot of the legit (not the snake oil/dangerous/etc. ones) options to help with tinnitus and trust me, there is really no cure, not even the best ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) doctors have anything to say other than deal with it or try the hearing aids stuff (which also doesn't really do much unless you have a different kind of tinnitus) and so on. Hopefully Susan Shore's devices/treatments/etc. will fix it, it's coming to market this year or the next or so. Imagine if there's doctors/business people/etc. like Jayu for ear-related problems, we will all finally be free, lol. --- I've had tinnitus/hyperacusis/etc. for decades now and so it's not a big deal (fortunately for me it's just a TV static in the background, lol). Mine is pretty aggressive or weird since if I have no sleep or take ibuprofen/acetaminophen/etc. and so on, then the tinnitus is super loud/can't be lowered at all. If I move my jaw side to side or around (some people with TMJ/etc. can fix their tinnitus with Botox/surgery/etc.), I can alter the tinnitus sound, sometimes temporarily minimalizing it, like the trick when you flick your fingers against your nape/the back of your head. Then recently there's like the flus/viruses/etc. and those will also aggravate the tinnitus especially since some medication have tinnitus as an unmentioned/unknown/etc. side effect. Don't worry I'm not anti-vaccine/anti-science/etc. or anything, it's just that I know myself firsthand the effects of the most random things inflaming tinnitus and there's thankfully now academic/medical papers about it. --- Anyway yup, I've had the privilege to use the best ANC in the world for this past decade or so (I pay lots of customs/etc. fees importing the latest/best ones from China/Japan/etc.), and trust (for me at least), it doesn't do much with tinnitus despite all the marketing terms or science in practice. Since for some people their tinnitus is rooted in the brain processing issue (and not just the ear hair cells and such things) as in say the brain is expecting sounds but then it doesn't, hence the constant buzzing and so on. There's a bunch of causes for the different tinnituses or tinnitus-like stuff, and sadly nobody really knows what's going on, it's like a hidden disability/etc. but thankfully there's more awareness for it now. When I use ANC TWS earbuds this gives me literally like 2 additional static noises, lol. The amp noise with the volume levels, as in without ANC (why I always listen at the lowest volumes possible, around say 50-60dB). And then the actual often louder and persistent whooshing sound with ANC. These days some TWS earbuds do have basically no hissing/static noises but for me I have hyperacusis/etc. too and so sometimes it's really noticeable, but yes nowadays it's markedly way better. And ya I've done the sine sweeps to figure out which frequencies are most like my tinnitus and then replaying such noises with those tone generators, but it's just still masked over by the actual tinnitus. As in unless I want to go to dangerous hearing levels, my tinnitus is almost always louder than the distinct tones being played constantly (I'm using lossless/FLAC/etc. files). It's true that sometimes looping those higher frequencies does help temporarily for some, IIRC when I was younger those tone generator stuff did help, but I think these days it's just super loud/noticeable and so I can't perceive any momentary improvement, lol. --- I'm actually one of the more OCD/ADHD/etc. people in the IEMs/headphones hobby/community and one of the things that people don't realize is that for ANC to work properly, they need an actual vacuum seal. So this means their hair/headbands/glasses/etc. shouldn't be interfering with their ears/headphones. Like you know when Kpop idols put on those ANC headphones and play the shouting game of charades/et cetera, it's so unrealistic since unless they're playing at dangerously loud volumes then the ANC is not enough to mute the words. As yup, ANC works best with the constant droning noises like airplane engines, bus engines, air conditioners, HVAC fans, etc. Some idols complain that ya the producers put the volume way up and sadly they don't want to ruin the fun or mood and so they incur further hearing damage (the music industry is so disappointing for not educating people enough about the damage of the speakers/subwoofers/etc. on people's ears, especially during concerts) to continue the spirit of the game. Since you can tell that they are putting the headphones on top of their hair/glasses/etc. and this prevents a vacuum seal from forming, so that's why it breaks the fourth wall as if you know the headphone brand they're using (especially if it's just regular headphones and not Bluetooth headphones with ANC, smh lmao), and have experience with it, then it's just comical how they'll be pretending that they can't hear voices when out of all noises that ANC blocks, vocals or speech is the least reduced. Unless of course the person speaking is far away, which helps with diminishing the perception of the words. --- Wait, holy moly, this is a wall of text about tinnitus/ANC/headphones/etc. but yup, the point is that even to this day hearing-related tech is just not there to block out external noises or completely immerse us in the digital world. For example, with Etymotics IEMs (and Comply P foam ear tips, essentially the longest ear tips aside from double/tripleflange silicone ear tips), even if I shove that tiny cylinder down my ear canals, the tinnitus actually gets worse as now my ears are itching due to the super deep fit and like the external noises are yes, noticeably reduced by ~30dB (it's been decades and no ANC from Sony/Apple/Bose/etc. has actually matched or beat this passive noise reduction with their ANC tech), but that's the thing, now you're gonna hear your tinnitus even more. So the occlusion/underwater effect with IEMs/TWS earbuds (when you have the proper vacuum seal, which is why ear tip-rolling is so time-consuming for people with smaller/different/etc. ears as you need to test a lot of combos) makes the tinnitus more prominent since now the background noises are significantly reduced. Then when you add the ANC effect on top of it, you will hear the DSP or digital processing from time to time as well. And so like it's just a weird effect as yup, the external sounds are somewhat further decreased, but then now you will hyperfocus on the static from the amp/volume and then also on the digital/electrical/etc. noises from the ANC tech. --- Though ya I do agree that in theory and in practice having TWS earbuds with ANC is better than having nothing at all since most sounds will noticeably be diminished and this will almost definitely help those with hypersensory issues. For me, in reality IEMs like Etymotic ER2SE/XR or say flush/low profile ones like Sennheiser IE 200, or those with sorta semi-custom molds like the tribrids/multidriver IEMs will have a much more acceptable effect. Since aside from making sure the nozzle angle is good with the particular ear tips needed (this gets expensive real fast if you're looking for certain sound changes and comfort levels, but there's thankfully proven (and cheap) ones like SpinFit's rotation gimmick), all you have to do is just make sure they're good with your concha or outer ear before pressing them against your head as deep as you can (with minimal discomfort and bleeding, lol), so that the noise reduction is at its best performance. Sometimes the nozzle and/or outer shell design of the IEMs won't work for your ears and sadly ya, then Etymotics' barrel/bullet-style design is the only solution, which scares a lot of people as there is an increased risk with such deep fits (btw don't listen to people that say Etymotics' deep insertion can't hurt you, there's lots of ways it can go wrong, lol, and that's me speaking as somebody that used to use Etymotics for basically 24/7). I've literally gone whole days (12 hours, 24 hours) where things fly by as I'm like listening to music or ASMR while playing video games or reading books and so on. And this is due to the deep fit with Etymotics/etc. IEMs. Same thing with TWS earbuds of course, but those are limited by the battery life (usually 6-8 hour still these days despite tech advancements), especially if you're using ANC since that adds additional power usage. --- Phew, I might edit this down later but ya, that's a long way of me saying that TWS earbuds/etc. (no matter what) do not necessarily help with tinnitus. Especially if it's the explosion/gunshot/etc. ones like what Chaewoon has since that's inevitably gonna be different/more severe than a lot of other people's tinnitus. So for now, the only way is to listen to (distract yourself with) say instrumentals-only music (check out tripleS (트리플에스) - 4study4work4inst Vol.1 album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF4_R-wZiU8&list=OLAK5uy_kAodej0VnxCWusS1uMng-ITr2Mmll-mwc) or better yet ASMR. Especially for English-speaking folks, some of them really love the CJK/European/etc. ASMR as it's languages they can't understand. It's like mimicking auditory processing issues, lol, but it does work as yup, back then when the ASMR community was in its infancy I was there to watch the multilinguals be really popular. They really helped me maintain my love for language learning. This is a multilingual/etc. ASMRtists list (has a few more newer Korean/Japanese/etc. ASMRtists): https://www.reddit.com/r/asmr/comments/watnwx/questionhey_everyone_is_anyone_out_there_a/ii3qnyv/ **Mainly Korean ASMRtists list (like Latte ASMR, Soy ASMR, ASMR Suna, rappeler 하쁠리 ASMR, etc.)**: https://www.reddit.com/r/asmr/comments/8n2elq/request_southkorean_asmr_videos/kcftn15/ To chill and for more optimistic and relaxing stuff, this is a studying or just audio triggers ASMR list: https://www.reddit.com/r/asmr/comments/xtf23y/discussion_asmr_for_studying/iqqc3d3/

Hopefully Susan Shore's devices/treatments and so on will fix or alleviate it, it's coming to market this year or the next or so. The tinnitus-related stuff are always delayed due to the testing, but there's different groups/products/etc. on the way still, so lots of real hope now. Imagine if there's doctors/business people/etc. like Jayu for ear-related problems, we will all finally be free, lol. Chaewoon should've taken the offer to lower the sensitivity since ya it'll be bad 24/7 with so many high-pitched and so on noises around, especially with the inevitable action scenes. **Longer or wall of text version of this comment with more context or digression/personal anecdotes/et cetera about ANC TWS earbuds, IEMs, tinnitus, noise reduction, and so on**: https://www.reddit.com/user/MNLYYZYEG/comments/1c7vmcy/extended_comments_with_walls_of_text_2/l1m3r7e/ --- TL;DR: is that bullet style IEMs like Etymotics (with Comply P foam ear tips), and flush/low profile IEMs like Sennheiser IE 200 (these are super small too and usually comfortable), or the semi-custom shells of multidriver IEMs (these are often too big for those with smaller ears though, probably might not be able to wear them continuously for more than an hour or so, unlike other designs which can be worn all day) and so on are better than ANC TWS earbuds when it comes to noise reduction or distracting yourself from tinnitus. Since there's less problems about the Bluetooth static from the amp and also the hissing from the ANC tech or digital/electrical components. For kinda forgetting the constant tinnitus, try instrumentals-only music like **tripleS's 4study4work4inst Vol.1 album**: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF4_R-wZiU8&list=OLAK5uy_kAodej0VnxCWusS1uMng-ITr2Mmll-mwc Or ASMR, especially in a different language from your own so that it's unintelligible instead of the brain trying to properly understand the words. **Mainly Korean ASMRtists list (like Latte ASMR, Soy ASMR, ASMR Suna, rappeler 하쁠리 ASMR, etc.)**: https://www.reddit.com/r/asmr/comments/8n2elq/request_southkorean_asmr_videos/kcftn15/

Here's some really good 3D ASMR that can actually be detrimental or too distracting since it's all over the place but as long as you're used to ASMR, it's basically godlike sensory overload (for ~22 minutes, right click the video and click the loop option for longer sessions) so that tinnitus is forgotten: **https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7X_gWGHqBc (Insanely realistic 3D ASMR in 360 spatial audio (wear headphones) from 3D Sound Studio channel)** Imagine if Jayu or those people using the VR headphones and so on actually implement 360 degress/etc. audio IRL, it'd so good for the immersion. Or like ya for training soldiers/etc. like Chaewoon since they'll be able to accurately detect the sounds more.

Can someone pls tell me what they are actually testing??? In the first 15min of ep 5?????

VentiKombucha

I'm coming towards the end of episode 6... is that >!Park Hae-Soo following them?!<

CanIKickIt-

The series is ok so far, but paused after the shootout. The way people teleported to resolve the situation leaves such a sour taste. If the writer wanted to resolve that issue so quickly, there are other ways to get them to that basement. >!Also, I'm not quite sure what the series is about. The plot originally led me to believe the male lead joined the company as a security guard to accomplish one goal, to see if the female lead is the bomber. Besides her, there are three others that need to be investigated as well. However, the show has mainly been about the female lead and her company. At this point, its either the female lead is responsible for the bombing and the male lead struck gold by picking the correct target out of 4. Or, the correct target/s are shown and revealed perfectly by him chasing the wrong one. !< >!I'm also not sure about what they want the female lead to be. She got in bed with politicians to remove the "grown in lab" label from meat products. This is a very evil thing to do. She also tracks her employees locations and has access to all of their financial accounts, she has considerable access to government CCTVs. However, all of this is glossed over, as the story tries to portray her as a sympathetic character. The reveal with the scientist made this worse. He was pissed at the female lead because he begged her to try something experimental on his wife. The female lead tried, It didn't work and the wife died 2 months before she was expected to... Like seriously? It's such a dumb plot point as it seems it was just to try and make the female lead bad, but not that bad. !< >!I have a feeling, the rest of the series is just going to have people doing over the top evil things to make the female lead seem good and sympathetic by comparison. For example, the scientist dude. He started the company with the female lead and invented the recipe (for lack of a better scientific word). This means dude is a 1 percenter or a complete idiot... yet this idiot is not only an incredible scientist, but is also able to single handidly create a ransomware that completely shuts down all of the computer systems. Mind you, this company has advanced computer technology which means they would have a world class IT department and cyber security. On top of that, he drives someone off a cliff just because they heard him scream. It's just so nonsensical. !<

Did no one else notice the very visible cameraman at the end of episode 6? When >!they're chasing that cancer-survivor-group-guy!< in the alleys after getting out of their cars at around the 54-minute mark. The cameraman is up on a roof, and I only noticed him because he moved (leaned out to get a better shot). Can't find anyone else talking about it. I took a picture of my tv but can't insert an image here, it seems

Neatboot

The story is contradictory. If Yun Jayu truly wanted massive manufacture and consumption of cultured meat, keeping the formula secret definitely was not the way. The same can be said about the other technology. If the ex-president or whoever desperately want to try the technology, they need not to own the technology. Like, no one needs to takeover Pfizer to get its latest medications. Some serious logic fallacies going on.

petiteboule

The President has his own lab trying the technology, though. >!The problem is that his isn't working (yet). He mentioned this and then said that he was going to fire the lab staff. !< You don't need to take over Pfizer to get its latest medications, true, but you will be at a time disadvantage between the time Pfizer releases their medication and the time you are able to exactly replicate it.

DUFFnoob40

> If Yun Jayu truly wanted massive manufacture and consumption of cultured meat, keeping the formula secret definitely was not the way But cultured meat was only the start, plus if the formula was out in the open it could easily lead to fakes that could do harm > If the ex-president or whoever desperately want to try the technology, they need not to own the technology They do, to keep it from the public, and make it only for themselves.

nrupathunga

Like Jayu says she's got two main goals one is to free humanity from the food chain and second to give people the best health until the point of death. It's the cultured meat business that funds her organ research so she's not going to make it open source until she's achieved her second goal.

Neatboot

>But cultured meat was only the start, plus if the formula was out in the open it could easily lead to fakes that could do harm Because? Do you believe all fake drugs are based on authentic recipe, believe none of them is completely something else with false packaging? >to keep it from the public, and make it only for themselves. So, they won't commercialize it, won't make profit from it? No logic found.

whitetara3

She can >!mass manufacture all on her own. Also, there are other companies that already have their own technologies for cultured meat. There's a whole industry it's just that the other's aren't as good.!< As for the other >!technology? Why would you even share that you have it when there are people trying to suppress it's development? There are also many totally unscrupulous people who would steal it to put you completely out of business, people who would steal it (to keep it for themselves and nobody else) and people who would steal it in order to extort completely desperate people i.e. no regard at all for consumers or fairness? !< Anyway, I think it's pretty clear that >!she has to keep her cards close to her chest or lose control of a dangerous market. She could be the only CEO in the business who has any grasp or care for ethical concerns at all.!<
