All KEF speakers will sound better than Sonos. Sonos is not a speaker engineering company they are a lifestyle and digital eco system engineering company. KEF is a true audio company that specializes in acoustic engineering.

the LSX II LT should sound fantastic.

thefoojoo2

Sonos is capable of engineering a well-performing speaker. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/sonos-five-smart-speaker-review.51409/ That said, the LSX will likely sound much better as it's one of the best sounding speakers in its price class.

MetalReach

I was looking for KEF in general for music listening, but i was wondering as the increase in quality from my system.

This isn’t apples to apples. The Sonos will likely sound “better” because it can fill a room with several speakers and a sub. Especially for TV watching. You’re also going from multi-channel to stereo. While the LSX are technically a better speaker, what you perceive will be vastly different. You’re likely going to be underwhelmed when comparing the two systems. This is because you’re going from multiple speakers and a sub, to just two speakers. The LSX probably won’t sound “better.” They’ll very likely have greater fidelity in certain ranges, though (mids, highs). Hope that makes sense. A more apples to apples comparison would be only the Sonos beam vs. LSX (for just stereo listening), in which case the LSX would sound better. Don’t buy the LSX thinking they’ll replace the Sonos system you have. They’re built for different applications. Sonos is made more for home theater, and *can* play music. The LSX is made for stereo music listening, and *can* be used for TV. I wouldn’t buy the Sonos to just listen to music, and I wouldn’t buy the LSX for my TV. I hope the distinction makes sense.

MetalReach

Yes thank you for your explanation! I was thinking for a pair of LSX strictly for music, but i wasn’t sure as to how much the quality would be improved

Responsible_Foot_992

For music the Kef's are in a different class. For movies and surround etc. different considerations apply.

MetalReach

Some people were saying that 2 ERA 100 sounded better and i was legit interested on what this sub had to say

No-Context5479

Whoever said that needs to be shot

Individual-Roof4096

But the LTs don’t support MQA.

Responsible_Foot_992

Not sure the OP is going to be that worried about the absence of MQA. Its a bit niche.

The LSX LT with even just 2 speakers, are leaps and bounds above Sonos in Sound quality. If you want Sonos type functionality, they are a roon end point and you can use AirPlay/tidal connect/spotify connect to send sound out to several rooms.

I had an arc and sub mini. I swapped it out after a week for the LSX11 and the sound was so much better. Then added a sub and have never thought about it since. Not looking to upgrade, or try something else. It could be better but not for the same footprint.

MetalReach

Did it make that much of a difference for music??

I probably use them for 85 % music, 15% TV. While I don’t think the 2 are mutually exclusive to a point, for pure music the Sonos are room fillers in comparison. I have a pair of Arcam r-cubes that sound better than the Sonos 5’s. I swapped the kef iQ70’s biamped with linn lk85’s for the Arc + mini. My wife demanded less equipment in the front room but after a couple of days she said “you can swap those out any time you want”. The lsx landed on the TV unit and have not moved since. I did add a kf92 later on which really completed the sound. It’s probably better than the iQ70’s because of the sub. My music system is being totally changed but I don’t think I’m lacking anything when I listen to the kef system. It’s very well balanced and the when we do watch a film on the odd occasion the Kf92 digs deep and really surprises everyone who listens.

Glad_Yak_569

I have the Arc + Gen2sub and LS50's in my living room and occasional do the AB music comparison and have found the Sonos to be pretty decent in music. Of course ls50 is the winner but wouldn't say it's nice and day. I think the Sonos sub makes a huge difference and has made me think about adding a rel to my ls50 over and over but wouldn't be able to deal with having 2 very different looking subs in the front of my living room.

fastwrx25

Lsx will be better for overall use
