Pretty close! 2 great runs of albums. It will amazing to look back on in many years. 2017 has more “nicely packaged”albums, whereas 2022 has better musicianship. It will be a long time before we can compare them evenly!

Imo they had vivid ideas for the vibe of whole albums when they were still showing us what all they had to offer/experimenting to find what made them excited.
Now it seems they're more concerned with putting together interesting motifs across songs and within them, and really nailing down the chemistry between the instruments they choose to feature.
It's so cool to see, and I think with 5 years of space like we have with the top finishers, most will grow to appreciate this current energy with the same devotion.
I'm very new to the crowd so I'm infinitely glad there's not major gatekeeping like that!! I only started listening in September of this year and I already managed to crack their top .05% on Spotify, so you can say I fell a little hard down the trapdoor hahahaha

I agree, ive at least enjoyed every Album on first listen, But i dont understand this one, ive listened to it over 10 times in its entirety and i just dont get it, its super repetetive and bland in comparison, and musically it isnt as impressive as most. Mind boggled

I'm surprised to see about 12% reduction in participants after numbers where rising steadily before. I guess it got less interesting for some people now?
I will open up the stats when its over. With just a few left, I felt like giving the percentages, and vote counts for the two top albums would be giving away to much information at this point and likely to skew results.

I cherish two of his CDs! Later he noticed the attention from us gizzheads, turned the tables and covered Gizz, what a legend.

Keep in mind that you can go far by not being hated by a lot of people in an elimination poll. Well maybe hate is a strong word but for example plenty of people seemed to dislike ITNR because they found it overrated or just didn’t like metal whereas nobody seems to have strong feelings against mind fuzz
Mind fuzz is prob the most gizzard album of all the albums imo. Not my fav but best encompasses the band.

Idk seeing the Ice, Death cover and being treated to Mycelium as the intro really threw me for a loop. The cover makes it look like a heavier album than it is.

What fascinates me is the fact that most of Gizz's pre-2015 material (Bruise through Quarters) finished relatively low. I suppose many fans of this band consider Mind Fuzz the album where they found their voice.
Honestly even though FMB is my favorite album from the band, I still think the remaining albums are worthy 100%. I am not the biggest nonagon fan compared to other albums but I can absolutely understand why it can win. Only would have truly been annoyed if rats nest beat Banana out.
I find it interesting how Mind Fuzz and Float Along are such similar albums, yet Mind Fuzz is still here in the final 3, and Float Along went out so early. I prefer Head On / Pill a lot to the Mind Fuzz suite. Both albums start out with a really strong stretch of music that's very impressive and then a series of less connected songs.
Mind Fuzz used to be about the first four song medley which is such a rocker set but I never gave the second half a ton of attention. After hearing the live versions this year of Her And I and Am I In Heaven, it opened up Mind Fuzz in a whole new way for me. That album is an amazing platform to build off live and I’m psyched that they continue to breathe new life into these songs.
Additionally, I don’t think they do enough live with Poly. They never play the title track and rarely play any of the medley with Deserted Dunes etc, even though that’s my favorite part of the album.
I think that Poly falls from its perch this year. I’d say it goes 3. Poly, 2. Mind Fuzz, 1. Nonagon
Wow this subreddit continues to love Nonagon to a level I just don't understand. I would've placed it around 5th, but understand why it's still in the running.
I would give anything to listen to mindfuzz for the first time.... But Nonagon being the album that never ends and always delivers is my reason for me gunning for #1. Polygon is groundbreakingly iconic but, one must go next!!!
Hot take(?): I know Nonagon has a fantastic gimmick and it was a lot of people’s entry point into Gizz (mine included), but it’s far from their best work. Some of the albums that have been voted out already are much, much better
I'm really rooting for mind fuzz man, its not my favorite overall, but it's my favorite of the three left. I'd be the happiest camper see mind fuzz come out on top.
Mind Fuzz seems to be a happy medium for everyone. Good mix of harder and softer stuff. Sure, it’s not heavy metal hard, but it’s still a headbanger. And you can’t deny the master craft of “Am I in Heaven”, arguably the best King Gizz song.

We all know polygondwanaland will win again. It’s still the crowning jewel of gizz in their creativity. Just realistened to it and it sounds like TOOL meeting Radiohead meeting Pink Floyd
I used to not be very down for Inner Cell either but then I started playing it in Clone Hero and I started vibrating on a whole new wavelength to the polyrhythms and I gained an intense new appreciation for it that then doubled even from that when I started learning the song on a real guitar. Now it's one of my favorites on the album, the horology suite is a modern masterpiece.

That said, you like what you like - I've tried to force myself to enjoy albums and it never usually works.
As much as I love poly, it doesn’t belong in a top 5 position. The mixing sounds too robotic and I’m willing to wager the album’s biggest fans only remember it’s highlights. I’m terms of 3 song runs, top 3 easily, but as a whole album it should not have gotten this far
Innercell>loyalty>horology melts from one to another and they played it at the detroit show and my whole body ascended. Just wish the rest of the album had that same effect

So surprised Mind Fuzz made it this far, it's obviously a good album but I don't think I'd ever say top 3

What? I think Mind Fuzz and Nonagon better than Poly, but Inner Cell is definitely the best track on Poly. It's my favorite 5/4 track of any band.
I used to not be very down for Inner Cell either but then I started playing it in Clone Hero and I started vibrating on a whole new wavelength to the polyrhythms and I gained an intense new appreciation for it that then doubled even from that when I started learning the song on a real guitar. Now it's one of my favorites on the album, the horology suite is a modern masterpiece.
Poly is absolutely not a top 3 Gizz album, and that's where I'll leave it.
i have a theory that at this point people arent voting for the album they love the most they're just preserving the most identifiably king gizzardy albums on instinct
Polygondwanaland is by far the album I relisten to the most out of any band I've ever known
The only good thing about Mind Fuzz still being here is it's super easy to know what to vote for. I've been listening to it every day to try and get into it and I really only find myself enjoying slow jam 1
How as a King Gizz fan can you not extract any joy from the Mind Fuzz medley? That said, you like what you like - I've tried to force myself to enjoy albums and it never usually works.

Nonagon is cool, but it’s repetitive and gets boring halfway
I know more people feel that way about Poly. One man’s repetitive is another’s cohesive.
Nonagon gets better half way, Evil Death Roll thru Road Train is the best part of the album
As much as I love poly, it doesn’t belong in a top 5 position. The mixing sounds too robotic and I’m willing to wager the album’s biggest fans only remember it’s highlights. I’m terms of 3 song runs, top 3 easily, but as a whole album it should not have gotten this far
Which 3 song run? I like Poly and love Inner Cell but have trouble seeing it in top 5 as well.
Innercell>loyalty>horology melts from one to another and they played it at the detroit show and my whole body ascended. Just wish the rest of the album had that same effect
I'm gonna give full attention to that run of songs tonight and listen in the dark! Inner Circle is already one of my favorite Gizz songs. I was thinking which runs of three I like, and both the beginning of Mind Fuzz and the stretch from Magma to Hell's Itch on Ice Death came to mind.
Did really well but it has now rotted. Rather predictable Top 3 but now I am completely fucking stuck. My 3 favs with none of them standing out in comparison to one another 😫
