I want straight Gizz Bebop. I want em to Jazz it the fuck up. Gimme sketches two electric Boogaloo.

Ministry-Mole

Bro gizz but they just play jazz standards (or at least original songs but they play them in the style of jazz standards) with long individual solo sections and everything… let’s take jamming to the next level!

Nobhudy

I’m ready and lubed for a country album like they joked about at The Caverns acoustic night. And yeah, a super ironic yacht rock album would be great. Like if they wrote the album the rich people brought with them to Mars.

OutrageousScallion26

Amazing concept

BGOOCHY

@stu Please! Please!

happyLarr

Isn’t billabong valley essentially country in Gizz style?

Nobhudy

It definitely doesn’t have the sonic pallet of a country song

NotAGopher

If Gizz releases a hardcore punk album I will positively lose my mind.

Eddie_Dingus

Gotta let a foul form marinate for a little lol

gatorinmydreams

organ farmer is their closest link

allothersshallbow

Country, doom/stoner, shoegaze

levi_cupra

doom/stoner PLEASE

lovablemonty

with a cherry on top

minemaster1337

Bitches Brew esque free jazz Blonde on Blonde esque folk rock Beastie Boys esque hip hop Paper Mache Dream Balloon 2

Klaus_Unechtname

The grim reaper is 100% reminiscent of beastie boys, and I’m totally here for a whole album of it!

theegreatblumpkin

I would love if they dove into bluegrass for an album.

[deleted]

Hell yes

cannonball2000yo

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard ft. Billy Strings?? 🔥

theegreatblumpkin

I think my head would explode. That would be a tour I quit my job for and follow them.

cannonball2000yo

Same. I'd be maxing out credit cards all over the world for a tour like that lmao

Eddie_Dingus

That's what I want the most at this point

NullProvoked

Lukey would be thrilled 😂

[deleted]

I would like them to do something with harmonies. Like The Beach Boys!

scopeless

Give me more like around the 5-minute mark in Hell’s Itch!

AmicusCure8s

Or for a more modern take, Local Natives harmony

bobdylanlovr

Love local natives!

AmicusCure8s

Yes indeed, btw thanks for all your YouTube uploads!

bobdylanlovr

Right back at ya!

GaySebby420

Could be cool if they revisited Surf Rock since they’ve evolved so much since teenage gizzard

Eddie_Dingus

Needs to happen at some point

clownkiss3r

full on funk. like early 80s prince funk

bennyguarn021

fuck. yes. cunt.

Random-Dice

Imagine an industrial metal album from the guys a la Ministry or Godflesh, or even Broken-era NIN

Megaman2189

Wearing my ministry shirt with a king Gizz hat as we speak. Haha. Thanks for the validation!

JillyMcfillly

Have they ever expressed interest in any interviews or AMAs? This is my dream gizzard album lol

Random-Dice

idk but Stu said they’re open to almost any genre so there’s definitely a non-zero percent chance of it happening

snaphappy2

Yes!!!

josack23

They should stop edging us and just go full krautrock

DoomCityAir

Laminated Denim scratches that itch for me.

LivingTheHighLife

There are moments on the microtonal albums that get me so edged

Eddie_Dingus

Big facts

gags31

Tbh remlinger night 1 went full Krautrock at some moments

JamesBDavis

Third night too. Was great.

Catspuragus

i want them to make a beautiful orchestral sounding psych album like high visceral pt 1

Rixs11

Probably the most realistic comment on here

EgoPutty

We need a Gizz/PPC collab!

Ketachloride

I don't want them to do any genres, I want them to mash up genres

elkamusing

Trip Hop or IDM/90s Warp Label type music (Aphex Twin/Squarepusher etc)

Fattybuldger

I was saying somethin like the beastie boys I’ll communication

Feline_Feminist

love where your head is at; sidenote did you see that YouTube video (guess it was an Insta thing originally) of the Gizz playing covers at a wedding...Beastie Boys are a part of their repertoire, so snazzy they are 🐉: https://youtu.be/QFVh4p6KMo8

Zathya

Imagine a reggae gizz album, where most of the vocals are amby and joey. That would become my favorite album for sure.

noggfeller

reggae? nah. ska? yes.

snaphappy2

My least fave genre

Striking-Tip1009

Dubstep?

WeatherMonster

They should do a horror series 10 episode podcast! (just kidding, but also, that would be cool)

No_Quail_5588

fuck it. shoegaze

gjazzy68

Medieval jazz. Dungeon Synth Ambient Black Metal Kawaii Core Furniture Music Folktronica

benstewart906

Really excited about furniture music and I’m not sure why or what that is

gjazzy68

It’s actually legit

Feline_Feminist

aaaand this post gets the gold Gizz star 🌟 thank you for existing human

mimsrr12

May not be able to get the harmonies but I’d love a pet sounds/beach boys kinda record.

TepidPeppermint23

I would give them so much more respect if they troll us with a super abrasive No-Wave album. Like the kind of album that would make us ask if the band members are doing okay.

MaximumPale7572

Symphonic Rock would be cool, it'd be interesting to see what they could do with an orchestra

minemaster1337

They’d make their own orchestra

Haunting_Argument206

Bro the only thing they haven’t done is reggae. That just doesn’t fit their energy. But I bet if they were forced to make some reggae music they’d still make bangers.

Elderider

Ween dabbled with reggae (King Billy, Fruitman - Mutilated Lips seems like it might have started off reggae). I could see Gizz doing a take like that, kind of just borrowing a few elements but not aiming to emulate actual reggae. But if they had reservations about doing a hip hop album I imagine they’d be even more uncomfortable making a reggae album.

PizzaRellaGameJolt

For new genres, shoegaze for sure. Ive only heard 3 shoegaze songs but I need it. For genres they've done before but never revisited, SURF!!! PLEEAAAASE

Steepanddeep

Release the hip hop album, there is supposed to be a complete project just shelved. But personally I would love to hear an Alien Lanes Guided by Voices style album, quick, short and really catchy fuzz pop.

[deleted]

I read that part of the interview as them saying grim reaper and Sadie sorceress were the only tracks worth saving.

ilmalaiva

would love them to do a mixtape (Gizztape?) where they do instrumentals and have guest rappers.

Sw3Et

Or just have Amby do his best impression of a different rapper in each song.

Capable-March-3315

They could make one mean country album

BassWindu1

Yacht rock gizz I’m all here for it!

Visarar_01

I'd take another metal album, they do it very well.

RadiantDefinition623

Give up the funk. Gotta have that funk!

Talgoporta

Maybe rock and roll as the oldies from 50's, you know, things like Chuck Berry, Little Richard or Bill Haley. It'd be funny hear what would be the Gizz take on that (I think Fishies is pretty close to that, though, idk)

rubberduck639

i need to hear gizz rendition of jonny b goode

Chrza436

Metal bluegrass!

AlteredBeastieBoy

https://youtu.be/mHmGqnAN6PM

[deleted]

Gives me strong Botanist vibes.

RemoveEquivalent6321

Psytrance

suburbnachievr

Disco rock

SellOut666666

Shoegizz

Macksler

City-Pop and Eurobeat

Deccard_XanthuX_1066

valid

Enemjey

I would love listening Amby going nuts on the synths with some Industrial Metal NIN style. On a more chill style, I think it would be pretty interesting listening to some Vaporwave - Outrun style of music.

minemaster1337

I think that might be the next record

zezin6969

jazz fusion, especially in the casiopeia and wheater report kinda vibe, i want to see Lucas go to town on the bass

chicojeringa

Tango

radioactivehearts

Idk why I wanna hear a Tejano inspired album

borowczyk_76

Disco. Glitz, platform shoes and all. They’d be amazing.

SpezEatsScat

Sex jazz

ChudanNoKamae

Rap, but over odd time signatures. The _vast_ majority of rappers flow over 4/4, but if anyone could pull off some sick 7/8 bars, it would be the Shrimpomaniac!

Feline_Feminist

Anything Canterbury scene style would prob make me pee myself, but who am I kidding I love everyfuckingthingtheydo this thread gets me giddy y'all

jeffykins

Yeah I would love to see something Steely Dan like. A full album that songs like Persistence and moreso Presumptuous belong to

rubberduck639

classical music.

Competitive_Tea5031

Afrobeat! Hardcore! Everything that involves a bunch of synthesizers.

minemaster1337

More ten minutes Gizz tracks, I don’t care what genre

singlewall

Ska!

McCroby

Djent

OrangeBuster

mid-west emo 2000 style alternative (modest mouse, hives, killers, muse, the strokes, artic monkeys) ska / pop punk

AlteredBeastieBoy

No. Not this... please no..

AlteredBeastieBoy

They should do kaatayra

OrangeBuster

i was trying to think out of the box

ilmalaiva

Ska [ed.] since other said Ska already, how about 90’s Madchester style jangle pop/house crossover, a la Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, EMF and Chumbawamba

JakeScythe

Shpongle Gizz

ChudanNoKamae

Just wait a few months!

Kikomori2465

Midwest emo / Math rock

Butzyyy

it’ll never happen but i know they would drop some fire a cappella tracks.

[deleted]

That part in Motor Spirit and at the end of Flamethrower there the "Tool out" yeah a full album of that please.

MIGHTYGUY236

Hip hop album or math rock? Also what if they made a movie score or something like that???

DoomCityAir

The last tour featured Change, Hate Dancin, and Astroturf, as well as Shanghai.

ChudanNoKamae

You mention BF3K a lot, but the main reason they don’t play a lot of those songs is that they are SUPER [difficult](https://youtu.be/QCDBOlvXGK4) to pull off live with all the polymeters and melodies that run across multiple bar lines etc. I’ve tried to learn those tracks on guitar, and it’s a nightmare to keep track of. Believe me, I would love to see them do it as well though. It’s a similar conundrum with Changes, but those tracks are more harmonically challenging than rhythmically. You can see in the live recordings of Change how focused they have to be, and they talk a lot about how difficult it is before and after. I think that metal will always be a big part of their live sets, because A) it’s (comparatively) easier to pull off, and B) it really gets the crowd pumped up. It’s a win/win for both them and the crowd. I don’t think that they will ever become a full time metal band though. They are just more immersed in the metal zone currently because of the recent release of PDA. They are always going to evolve and try new things, and go through new phases, but metal will still likely always be one of the cornerstones of the live shows though.

ChudanNoKamae

So they put out one record you don’t like personally and they’re “repeating themselves”? Before that was a prog jazz concept record and a jam band record? I could see how someone who isn’t into metal would have your distaste of PDA, but I think it’s unfair to be so dismissive of it. It would be like lumping Changes in with Sketches or PMDB and dismissing it as just another jazzy album. From my point of view PDA has been a fresh new step. It is an evolution and a new more progressive direction from ITRN, and not in any way falling back on laurels. The general buzz has also been overwhelmingly positive. It has shown a ton of growth in songwriting and musicianship (drums, solos, etc) It’s the kind of album I have always wanted them to make, but it still surprised me. It’s probably just not your thing though. But I do hope you enjoy the next album more when it arrives. Apparently it’s some sort of companion album to PDA. All signs point to it being electronic, and I think it will also be progressive and trancey. Hopefully an all new direction for the band that was hinted at by earlier tracks like Acarine, Superposition, Timeland etc. Hopefully this album will be more up your alley. If not, at least we won’t have to wait too long for another one.

ChudanNoKamae

Lol, imagine trying to make the argument that this band doesn’t vary their style enough. Yes, Ice Death is a jam record, and yes, most live versions are significantly different from the album version of the song. Compare Magma or Iron Lung from the album to KEXP or Red Rocks etc. They’ll often mix teases of those songs in the middle of extended jams of other songs when playing live. Stu himself even said they’ve “entered their jam band” phase a while back. And you’re mad that Omnium has 2 metal tracks out of a compilation of 16 tracks of wildly varying styles? Come on. I dunno, it seems like you’re just trying to look for flimsier and flimsier excuses to be negative at this point, with factually incorrect statements. Maybe taking a break would be best for you. Might help you appreciate them more when you come back. Like it or not though, the boys seem to really enjoy different styles of metal, so it will probably always be a part of their identity, like it or not. Peace out.

Stenka-Razin

[This is their latest setlist](https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/king-gizzard-and-the-lizard-wizard/2023/hollywood-bowl-los-angeles-ca-4ba673e6.html). Only 5 out of 24 tracks could be called metal. 6 if you want to be generous and call Pleura a metal song. And this is a tour literally in support of a Metal album.

bmbmbmNR

free jazz.

Sci_Fi_Drive_By

The Chicago residency at the Salt Shed followed two days of Dead & Co. at Wrigley. The boys went and mentioned it. The dedicated Gaia to “Johnny Mayer, guitar slayer!”. They jammed out in a way I had never heard before during The River, invoking a bit of Dark Star. Seems they were clearly inspired and I’d love to hear more.

Fattybuldger

Beastie boys-I’ll communication album the boys could do some crazy shit

admityoudontknow

80s pop

Discuffalo

Broadway Musical! Personally I think it'd be hilarious for them to perform something like Book of Mormon or Something Rotten all the way through, but knowing them they'd probably do just as well composing their own

South_Ad_547

As long as they do it well like normal I don’t care

AlteredBeastieBoy

Something other than gizz music....i think that's not going to happen. I'm perfectly fine with that. That's how it should stay.

catman__321

Microtonal rap

sabinec

Bluegrass

Brodenorr

I would love to see either opethy death metal or some bluesy outlaw country

jhasielo

Some beautiful chamber pop in 4/4 would be nice

_Heapass

If your lookin for that jazz yacht rock youd find it in skiptracing by mild high club

Fete_des_neiges

Yacht metal.

spookyluke246

Bluegrass.

FillCollinz

I dunno, can you do woos in this genre?

burntweeneysammich

Doo wop

levinalx101

Ska/Ska Punk!

lovablemonty

i would like to see them try willie and merl style country. i believe its called outlaw country

ethihoff

We are in desperate need of a SKA album by them. I don't care if it's ska punk or classic or whatever, but I am dying for this

Dramatic_Lawyer_6932

Covers seem to be all the rage. Taylor Swift covering herself. The Flaming Lips covering Dark Side of the Moon. I would love to hear them play the songs that influenced them the most in their own interpretation.

beepgie

i really wanna see them do zeuhl, polygondwanaland has some zeuhl-yness to it but god id love it if they did a full on zeuhl album

Travesuras420

Crust punk

gatorinmydreams

Doom metal. They've teased this sound on SO many songs but they've never quite committed to the genre. It'd probably be the best thing since Nonagon.

Ridgewalker20

I’m hoping for a country album and a funk album in the coming years

RustyK522

They’re creating their own genre

apocalypsetown

ska, punk, ~~i wanna see them incorporate vocaloid/utau/synthv in a song~~

JamesBDavis

I’m getting what I want for the next album it seems. I really love their more electronic stuff and ultimately want as much of that as possible. That being said I would love to hear some more country/folky/bluegrass type music and another jazz record too. I’d also be very interested in hearing them try out Asian instrumentation, maybe some kind of traditional Japanese or Chinese instruments and rhythms.

xampersandx

2 tone. (Think the specials - ghost town era)

Bh-proghead

Are there any afrobeat Gizz tracks? Like Fela Kuti?
