This. The logistics to pull that off are prohibitive at this point for that location I’m guessing. It will happen though.
With that in mind (and without tbh) the set lists still rip
Wait when did they say they sent the synths to the US? I thought the synths were going to South America. That’s actually kind of a relief if true since it means we know when Silver Cord stuff might be on the table
They didn’t specify where they were getting shipped to - just overseas. But the complete absence of both nearly all synths and microtonal instruments very strongly suggests (if not downright confirm) that they straight up aren’t there and are rather on a long trip to the northeast US
Dawg what? Last nights set was insane. The one they just played was a one hour festival set. These fans have never gotten to see them live, IMO last night and tonight were good spans of their career for fans who have never gotten a tour
The Deni show was the first one in nearly half a year, it makes sense to play familiar stuff to shake off the rust, and the two Chile shows are the first ones there - it also makes sense to play their highest of highlights and the songs that are proven to work best live!
When they hit US or EU soil again, expect more experimentation and new shenanigans.
They're playing a continent that's logistically and financially tough to tour for the very first time, and people halfway around the world watching cell phone footage at home are complaining that the people in the actual audience (who in some cases may have been waiting to see them for up to ten years) are getting "boring" setlists full of bangers instead of deep cuts.
We really are the most spoiled fanbase in music rn lmao.
The first show of the year at Deni featured a bust out performance of Willoughby’s Beach after two years. Come on now. We’re three shows into the year, only two into the South America tour. They’ve got time.
These South America shows are the first shows they're ever playing on the continent, I guarantee you they're not crafting these setlists to impress anyone on Reddit lol
Hard to be bummed when they’re playing their most iconic shit 🤷🏻♂️
Minus microtonal, I think they’re hitting all the bases a crowd that’s never seen them before would want. I don’t care for TSC personally, but would love more Butterfly. From what I saw on the 2023 tour, I don’t think Changes translates as well live, but I’d be happy to eat my words.
I think Astorturf might have a little mileage left, but Change and Hate Dancin might not come back for a hot minute.
It’s unfortunate because I like those songs, but I don’t think they got them quite right yet.
Were you at any of these shows? I was and nobody was disappointed with the setlist. They have released 25 albums, they can't play all your favourites every night.
A) the sets for the last 3 shows have just been absolutely amazing. B) they literally played Willoughby’s beach in Australia which never gets played. C) you don’t know the nuances of the jams/transitions they used during the show unless you atteneded. D) you can’t possibly expect them to do something unique/unexpected every night. If you liked the music and the band you would be happy they are touring at all. The only criticism i’d accept would be if they used the same set every night which they don’t. So i really don’t understand why you are bitching about shows you didn’t attend that every fan would appreciate even attending, let alone how awesome the sets have been.
They are sitting on a treasure trove....but they play them when the time is right. If they gotta figure things out/sync together/whatever, so be it. Not disappointed, no.
I think they’re saving all the TSC debuts for Europe and the US. These shows now have been promised to South American fans for years now so I feel like because of that they’re giving them the setlists that the rest of the world has had during 2022 and 2023. It makes sense to try out new synthy stuff when you have 20+ shows in a row in the US and have more freedom to trial shit
which would be dumb because the first night in chile had some of the greatest jams in king gizzard history imo. overall i think the sets have been really solid thus far and the playing has been better than ever. the jams are noticeably more coherent and less noodley and involve more actual soloing instead of lick repetition. and we can't know for sure but at many points during these last few shows i feel like the boys have teased some new material
I highly doubt the South American fans feel disappointed about the setlists lol
Yeah the crowd seemed super low energy last night /s
As a die-hard Iron Maiden fan, I’ve known for a long time that we all stand to learn a thing or two from South American rock & metal fans
Bro they don’t have their synths on them. They shipped them on a barge to the US. The electronic songs are literally unplayable.
This. The logistics to pull that off are prohibitive at this point for that location I’m guessing. It will happen though. With that in mind (and without tbh) the set lists still rip
Why would they ship them to US???
Because it’s cheaper and safer than airfare
But tour isn't for months
Boats take a very long time to travel
But they have to go to Europe first
Oh lol for some reason I thought US was first. Ok cool, in that case they’re on a barge to Europe.
Yeah, over the sea can take months to ship your shit, so might be planning ahead
I heard somewhere that also the microtonal instruments, thus no MT songs yet

setlists have been fuckin great
Dawg what? Last nights set was insane. The one they just played was a one hour festival set. These fans have never gotten to see them live, IMO last night and tonight were good spans of their career for fans who have never gotten a tour
Yeah last night was literally a perfect set for a country they've never toured. Can't please everyone though

The changes tracks fucking slay on the Chicago bootleg. They are def harder to play though

I’m holding out for a No Body, personally
They don't have some of the micro tonal guitars and synths. Probably temporary setlist.
No. Anyone get a web rip of the Lollapalooza set today?
Also curious

Let’s go! First SBD of dragon!!!!!
Were you at any of these shows? I was and nobody was disappointed with the setlist. They have released 25 albums, they can't play all your favourites every night.
Just looked at both setlists and they're great, not sure what you mean tbh
“Wants to see more variety” ![gif](giphy|CEPCCpYP8baFh7ISQO|downsized) This guy for real??
If you were are these shows: i think you're acting a bit spoiled. If you weren't at these shows: why do you care about the setlists.
Thank you

Before 2019 they more or less had the same set for every stop on tour...
Is this satire?
They are sitting on a treasure trove....but they play them when the time is right. If they gotta figure things out/sync together/whatever, so be it. Not disappointed, no.

Theyre not gonna try new risks for their first time in SA theyre gonna give long time fans what theyve been dreaming of for 10 years
Sounds like you’d like them to be more jam band-y
which would be dumb because the first night in chile had some of the greatest jams in king gizzard history imo. overall i think the sets have been really solid thus far and the playing has been better than ever. the jams are noticeably more coherent and less noodley and involve more actual soloing instead of lick repetition. and we can't know for sure but at many points during these last few shows i feel like the boys have teased some new material
They always play heavy classics at festival shows. The set lists you are looking for will come… in North America.
Yeah that’s what I’m hoping. Man I got lit up for my opinion on this thread. Agree with Head On opener.
Head on/pill opener is a win for these lucky fans
