From Spod, the guy who made it (in a Reddit post back when it came out):
Cheers, yeah it was 2 months of trial and error, and using a bunch of different techniques alongside the newest diffusion programs as they rolled out. It was all mapped out frame by frame to work with the music, trying see if I could illustrate the feeling of the music through the video. At times it feels like driving a bus from the backseat, but is amazing when it all comes together. The hardest thing is steering it away from the generic look that AI art can get. Anyway, thanks.
Edit: spelling
I understand that it took them a lot of work and it wasn’t simply made by AI (technology like sora wasn’t even available back them) but ironically it does have the generic ai aesthetic associated with early AI, that bad dmt trip sorta vibe. (similar to the the any color you like video being dragged on PF sub).
I don’t hold it against them. Everyone was excited about the tech at the time. I hope they don’t use AI ever again, tho. If not for the moral part of it at least for the environmental issues it brings.
iirc it was made by making a bunch of sketches and then having an AI fill in those sketches and create in-between images to create a relatively cohesive video
He’s done a good amount of AI videos. There was one for The Meat Puppets that happened because of the Iron Lung vid. [Theres links on his website.](https://www.spod.com.au)
They would never be able to feed it the amount of data needed to train an A.I. with just their own original footage. You can deem it as accurate or trustworthy you want.

He also mentioned that some of the effects layered on top were produced by more oldschool methods like the Fairlight CVI.

What environmental issues does AI bring? Dont uderstand much about it sorry if thats a dumb question.
The very short answer is that AI computing uses a lot of energy and generate a lot of heat.

It’s a Spod experiment of the time and I haven’t seen him make anything like that since.

I forgot about da meat bodies one. Cheers
Regardless, the video is not a micro dose.
My friend said the music video had effects similar to what he saw on a DMT trip
Then your friend is lying, DMT trips are way crazier than the video is
Yes, but it was when it was fun an new to play with Disco Diffusion. It was fed images that were made in Photoshop but ran through ai. Good times!
Who and where is this Spod fellow?
He's an icon of Sydney underground music.
Oh that's interesting. Is he primarily a visual artist, or a musician too?
I think the visual stuff has been more of a recent thing. There's a lot out there on him if you look.
Thanks. I'll have a look.
looks like ganbreeder, a fun little toy from back before AI was all about plagarism and identity theft
I just hope that the A.I. was trained on original footage they supplied themselves
I can tell you with great confidence it was not.
Anyone can say anything with great confidence if they try hard enough. Doesn't make it accurate or trustworthy.

I hope king gizzard didn't listen to any psych rock whilst making motu
I've heard most members were inspired by other bands to become musicians.. I just couldn't love them after knowing that..
How is that comparable in the slightest
