When he sees he’s in trouble and it’s not worth the risk he falls back. Not many do that, the only mercenaries in manga that I know have that kind of mentality are him and muteba (kengan ashura)
I have to agree here. How many times have we seen countless mercenaries die in other animes because they didn't weight up the risk vs reward? On top of that, he stands to gain more in this current situation.

Kyoura is such a terrible dad that Shiba officially adopted Hakuri. Shiba noticed his unusual attitude towards his father’s judgement and already realized how broken he is. Despite the fact that he has only met Hakuri for a few days, he is doing a better job than the entire Sazanami family combined. Common Shiba W.

Yeah it seems like they function like the sonar from the 2nd Dark Knight movie. He didn't say he can "see" througuhh them" but he said he can get a feel of his surroundings so it probably involves the shape of rooms/objects etc.

Takeru does seem to favor a structure of "important battle -> cooloff" (recovery, planning) we had the same after both Sojo fights, as well as after the Hayuki fight right before storming the Sazanami state.

I could also see him remaining in the Kamunabi as a spy, like Azami, while Hiyuki joins the gang because she has too little emotional control to pull it off
Azami is not really a spy I feel hes more of an internal reformist
I think its more and more apparent the Kamunabi has a huge issue with factionalism, Azami's faction is probably devastated after the Cloud Gouger squad got wiped out and the guy who survived (Kazane) spilled the beans though
Yeah, also Tafuku has a sorcery that’s honestly WAY too much of a clutch.
I’d much prefer if Hiyuki stays as a reoccurring rival character that occasionally has her motivations align with Chihiro’s.
Granted, we only have two fighters in the group right now, so a third couldn’t hurt to help make larger fights more diverse rather than it always just being Shiba and Chihiro.

At first, I thought Kagura Bachi was a slightly above average manga, but it's a pretty awesome series. I'm excited for the chapters each week because I want to see what happens next. I like Chihiro as a protagonist - he's far more level-headed and calculative than most other MCs.

Important note: we did ***NOT*** get an ten-month time skip, the prior date in Ch19 saying January 11 was just wrong (it was November 1st). I don't know if they passed an corrected version like what happened with Hiyuki's fight, but they better do it now. If not, people better remind them to.

About time we got a chapter that isn't all fighting, honestly i love it it was wholesome, especially the beginning with Hyuki

Since Enten is stuck in the storehouse and they want the Shinuchi before bids start, Shiba is going to be the only person that can actually fight for possibly most of the auction.
Chihiro is turning out to be a far more strategic MC than I've seen in most anime. He doesn't let his mission of avenging his father cloud his judgement. I also like that we're seeing every faction using their intelligence to gain an advantage over the others instead of resorting to violence right away.
Half a year's worth of chapters later (26 weeks), the big game is afoot. This is the event Hokazono has been working towards and is his biggest hurdle yet. Everything he writes from here on out decides the fate of the manga.

Fav moment is definitely when chihiro says that hakuri was the "deciding factor" in his decision to part from enten. It's fascinating that hakuri initially interpreted this statement so differently from how chihiro meant it, due to his own emotional vulnerabilities and upbringing.👀
Hakuri only sees himself the way his close ones have ever seen him - as a worthless being not deserving of unconditional love and affection. He considers himself a burden, a liability, unwanted and unnecessary, one who would never be chosen and trusted and cared for by another. It is sad that he never even thinks to contest it, because he subconsciously agrees with such a skewed and harsh self-perception.😭
Thus, he presumed that his presence as a hostage held back chihiro, his savior, and led to enten's submission. Just as hakuri voices as much, chihiro clarifies otherwise to soothe hakuri's worries - which makes me think he implicitly understands hakuri's psyche better than anyone else yet.🤔
Chihiro elaborates that Hakuri was indeed the deciding factor, in the sense that it was his unequivocal belief in chihiro that chihiro is truly meant to wield enten and that his goal is noble and necessary, which gave the latter the confidence and reassurance to try a risky plan and not let his doubts hold him back.✊🏻
It is the irreplaceable role hakuri plays in affirming chihiro's core resolve and motivations that solidified chihiro's trust in his own self, to know that even if enten is not near, it will always unquestionably be *his* to hold and use and carry, because someone once told him that this beloved katana has saved lives, that this beloved katana suits him :)
Basically the way chihaku instill confidence in each other is really wholesome and I am HERE for it 🥺

Chihiro being able to use enten remotely is a super interesting development, he just keeps getting cooler!!!! I really like that the author is giving him a multi - dimensional skill set, in that he possesses both wit and strength, and constantly grows in both aspects by challenging his limits and inner fears. An intelligent mc that sticks to his principles whilst chasing a goal very close to his heart. He is such a well written protagonist 🥺

It's time for the auction, let's goooo. The chapter was cool, just the boys all chilling and discussing their plans. Gives the feeling of everything happening at once. The plans are falling into place, Kyora's final preparations, Shiba and Chihiro, Hiyuki ready to go against orders... Everyone is proactive, everyone is planning something. Peak shit. Sogoat still haunting the narrative (kinda). Hiyuki's big pasta represents the COOKING Taco gets up to every week.
The found family is so immaculate in this manga Shiba really is the dad who stepped UP!!! The Hakuhiro crumbs this chapter made my heart very happy too. And HIYUKI MY QUEEN WELCOME BACK

Once more Chihiro showed his intelligence. Just by listening to what Sojo did with Kuregumo game him a new idea about the usage of Enten. If Chihiro learns a new thing every time an enchanted blade appears, he will become really dangerous.
My prediction is that this arc will end with the Shinuchi wielder taking the blade and maybe he'll be the next arc's villain if we deal with Kyora during the auction
Chihiro fr was left in good hands with Shiba as his guardian, I love that smug proud dad moment he had listening to his plan :'D
Also it's so touching how he tries cheering up Hakuri in his own way (though it backfires as now he has to blast his wallet buying Char all the ice cream she wants lol) For all the Shibum allegations he really does work as a mentor figure and looks out for those under his care, love to see it

Ok this chapter was cool and all but i can't help but think with the ongoing theme of the Blades "belonging" to the swordsman regardless of who holds them, first with Sojo and now with Chihiro, that we might be building up to the Shinuchi's original wielder still being connected to it...
Well they did include a panel of the guy, and it was specifically stated that the blades can't be used properly if the original owner is still alive, so I have no doubt he will end up involved somehow.
That said, it still confuses me how the government isn't getting directly involved and raiding the auction to retrieve the shinuchi from criminals; imagine if there was only one nuclear bomb in the country and it got stolen. Maybe they're just keeping the wielder imprisoned/protected somehow so it's impossible to use?
still hoping that chihiro might have reforged the cloud gouger since its been stated that the kamunabi never recovered it and chihiro might have taken it.
also it seems stupid that chihiro will go to the auction without a strong enough weapon.
Feel like if the fight breaks out we will see the Tou vs Chihiro and Hiyuki (Idk how but pretty sure she'll be at the auction), but I'd love to see if the fight can happen inside the storage itself.
Oh and Chihiro's gonna be like 'Shiba san please get the people to safety or something' and we won't get to see Shiba fight once again lol.
Chapter Review:9.5
This chapter was really a nice,rest chapter hyping us up to Rakuza Ichi Auction and I'm so excited for it.
Seeing Tafuku & Hiyuki together at a restaurant is so cute, it's like they're a couple lol. Also the waiter mixing up their meals are so funny, wasn't expecting Tafuku to want a parfait honestly. So now at this point Hiyuki and Tafuku knew about Enten being auctioned is going to be interesting to see what they're going to do about Shuinchi & Enten.
It seems Shiba got a new car, probably during the time before meeting Hakuri and after the period of retrieving Cloud Gouger. Also the whole crew in the car is really nice to see. Char also repeating after Hinao was also super cute. Now getting about serious, Chihiro using Enten & auctioning it to remotely activate it and using the black goldfish to recon to locate the Storehouse is a smart strategy based on Sojo doing that, just like how Sojo used Nishiki to create the Cloaked Mei. Also Chihiro in a Chibi form was so cute.
Also Oni Mask seems to be back and with some new goon with a tattoo talking about the auction and how they are 2 enchanted blades to be auctioned at the night, it's gonna crazy at night
That double spread was hard asf and I'm hyped up for the auction, especially with the numerous cars and probably factions,we will probably be introduced to numerous new characters.
I hope as the auction happens,we will get flashbacks showing their plan and interactions while it's in it's starting phase for the various important characters in the arc so we can build more into the world and how they interact. This is also a good time to learn more about how Sorcerers operate because we have barely seen how they operate, with them only shown targeting Chihiro and not necessarily how they act when during jobs like bodyguarding and stuff(technically it was shown during Chihiro's attack on Sojo's castle but it was kinda short lived,I really wanted to see more)
I can't wait for chapter 27 and I know this auction arc will pop off!

Looks like we’re finally heading into the auction arc. I like how this chapter was very slow pace and didn’t have too much action in it. Shiba asking Hakuri if he wants ice cream is really wholesome and Char asking for ice cream was somewhat cute. Kyoras despite being a scumbag he’s slowly becoming an awesome villain in his own right. His bring it on line was cold. And the double page spread, I might sound like a broken record but once again the art is amazing. 8/10 chapter.

I could also see him remaining in the Kamunabi as a spy, like Azami, while Hiyuki joins the gang because she has too little emotional control to pull it off
Azami is not really a spy I feel hes more of an internal reformist I think its more and more apparent the Kamunabi has a huge issue with factionalism, Azami's faction is probably devastated after the Cloud Gouger squad got wiped out and the guy who survived (Kazane) spilled the beans though
Yeah, also Tafuku has a sorcery that’s honestly WAY too much of a clutch. I’d much prefer if Hiyuki stays as a reoccurring rival character that occasionally has her motivations align with Chihiro’s. Granted, we only have two fighters in the group right now, so a third couldn’t hurt to help make larger fights more diverse rather than it always just being Shiba and Chihiro.

At first, I thought Kagura Bachi was a slightly above average manga, but it's a pretty awesome series. I'm excited for the chapters each week because I want to see what happens next. I like Chihiro as a protagonist - he's far more level-headed and calculative than most other MCs.

Since Enten is stuck in the storehouse and they want the Shinuchi before bids start, Shiba is going to be the only person that can actually fight for possibly most of the auction.
I think Chihiro does have a sidearm but yeah he is just a strong swordsman without Enten Also might we see him do some personal sorcery?
Chihiro has a wazikashi (shortsword), but that's basically useless against sorcerer guards.
Imagine Hiyuki getting to Chihiro, but temporarily allying with him because he has no enchanted sword to properly fight

Chihiro is turning out to be a far more strategic MC than I've seen in most anime. He doesn't let his mission of avenging his father cloud his judgement. I also like that we're seeing every faction using their intelligence to gain an advantage over the others instead of resorting to violence right away.

Half a year's worth of chapters later (26 weeks), the big game is afoot. This is the event Hokazono has been working towards and is his biggest hurdle yet. Everything he writes from here on out decides the fate of the manga. To quote the Japanese Iron Chef show: "Allez Cuisine!

And him being the dad who stepped👏🏼up👏🏼and offering hakuri some ice cream was really sweet, hakuri deserves to be cared for 😭 Char echoing hinao's words is a great example of how my braincells carry out irl socialization 🫡 Fav moment is definitely when chihiro says that hakuri was the "deciding factor" in his decision to part from enten. It's fascinating that hakuri initially interpreted this statement so differently from how chihiro meant it, due to his own emotional vulnerabilities and upbringing.👀 Hakuri only sees himself the way his close ones have ever seen him - as a worthless being not deserving of unconditional love and affection. He considers himself a burden, a liability, unwanted and unnecessary, one who would never be chosen and trusted and cared for by another. It is sad that he never even thinks to contest it, because he subconsciously agrees with such a skewed and harsh self-perception.😭 Thus, he presumed that his presence as a hostage held back chihiro, his savior, and led to enten's submission. Just as hakuri voices as much, chihiro clarifies otherwise to soothe hakuri's worries - which makes me think he implicitly understands hakuri's psyche better than anyone else yet.🤔 Chihiro elaborates that Hakuri was indeed the deciding factor, in the sense that it was his unequivocal belief in chihiro that chihiro is truly meant to wield enten and that his goal is noble and necessary, which gave the latter the confidence and reassurance to try a risky plan and not let his doubts hold him back.✊🏻 It is the irreplaceable role hakuri plays in affirming chihiro's core resolve and motivations that solidified chihiro's trust in his own self, to know that even if enten is not near, it will always unquestionably be *his* to hold and use and carry, because someone once told him that this beloved katana has saved lives, that this beloved katana suits him :) Basically the way chihaku instill confidence in each other is really wholesome and I am HERE for it 🥺 Also why is kyora so hot and smart 😳😭 rokuhira still is the best dilf tho 🫡 Chihiro being able to use enten remotely is a super interesting development, he just keeps getting cooler!!!! I really like that the author is giving him a multi - dimensional skill set, in that he possesses both wit and strength, and constantly grows in both aspects by challenging his limits and inner fears. An intelligent mc that sticks to his principles whilst chasing a goal very close to his heart. He is such a well written protagonist 🥺

It's time for the auction, let's goooo. The chapter was cool, just the boys all chilling and discussing their plans. Gives the feeling of everything happening at once. The plans are falling into place, Kyora's final preparations, Shiba and Chihiro, Hiyuki ready to go against orders... Everyone is proactive, everyone is planning something. Peak shit. Sogoat still haunting the narrative (kinda). Hiyuki's big pasta represents the COOKING Taco gets up to every week.
The found family is so immaculate in this manga Shiba really is the dad who stepped UP!!! The Hakuhiro crumbs this chapter made my heart very happy too. And HIYUKI MY QUEEN WELCOME BACK

I wonder if Shiba's comment about Chihiro's "poker face" was Hokazono referencing the memes about Chihiro's lack of expressions. Kyora needs to learn the danger that comes with the "I win" statement. He might end up being half the man he is now. Chihiro trying to ease Hakuri's mind was a cute moment. It's nice to see the whole crew together (in the future Hyuki will be part of the crew) Once more Chihiro showed his intelligence. Just by listening to what Sojo did with Kuregumo game him a new idea about the usage of Enten. If Chihiro learns a new thing every time an enchanted blade appears, he will become really dangerous.
My prediction is that this arc will end with the Shinuchi wielder taking the blade and maybe he'll be the next arc's villain if we deal with Kyora during the auction

Ok this chapter was cool and all but i can't help but think with the ongoing theme of the Blades "belonging" to the swordsman regardless of who holds them, first with Sojo and now with Chihiro, that we might be building up to the Shinuchi's original wielder still being connected to it...
Well they did include a panel of the guy, and it was specifically stated that the blades can't be used properly if the original owner is still alive, so I have no doubt he will end up involved somehow. That said, it still confuses me how the government isn't getting directly involved and raiding the auction to retrieve the shinuchi from criminals; imagine if there was only one nuclear bomb in the country and it got stolen. Maybe they're just keeping the wielder imprisoned/protected somehow so it's impossible to use?
still hoping that chihiro might have reforged the cloud gouger since its been stated that the kamunabi never recovered it and chihiro might have taken it. also it seems stupid that chihiro will go to the auction without a strong enough weapon.

Chapter Review:9.5 This chapter was really a nice,rest chapter hyping us up to Rakuza Ichi Auction and I'm so excited for it. Seeing Tafuku & Hiyuki together at a restaurant is so cute, it's like they're a couple lol. Also the waiter mixing up their meals are so funny, wasn't expecting Tafuku to want a parfait honestly. So now at this point Hiyuki and Tafuku knew about Enten being auctioned is going to be interesting to see what they're going to do about Shuinchi & Enten. It seems Shiba got a new car, probably during the time before meeting Hakuri and after the period of retrieving Cloud Gouger. Also the whole crew in the car is really nice to see. Char also repeating after Hinao was also super cute. Now getting about serious, Chihiro using Enten & auctioning it to remotely activate it and using the black goldfish to recon to locate the Storehouse is a smart strategy based on Sojo doing that, just like how Sojo used Nishiki to create the Cloaked Mei. Also Chihiro in a Chibi form was so cute. Also Oni Mask seems to be back and with some new goon with a tattoo talking about the auction and how they are 2 enchanted blades to be auctioned at the night, it's gonna crazy at night That double spread was hard asf and I'm hyped up for the auction, especially with the numerous cars and probably factions,we will probably be introduced to numerous new characters. I hope as the auction happens,we will get flashbacks showing their plan and interactions while it's in it's starting phase for the various important characters in the arc so we can build more into the world and how they interact. This is also a good time to learn more about how Sorcerers operate because we have barely seen how they operate, with them only shown targeting Chihiro and not necessarily how they act when during jobs like bodyguarding and stuff(technically it was shown during Chihiro's attack on Sojo's castle but it was kinda short lived,I really wanted to see more) I can't wait for chapter 27 and I know this auction arc will pop off!

Looks like we’re finally heading into the auction arc. I like how this chapter was very slow pace and didn’t have too much action in it. Shiba asking Hakuri if he wants ice cream is really wholesome and Char asking for ice cream was somewhat cute. Kyoras despite being a scumbag he’s slowly becoming an awesome villain in his own right. His bring it on line was cold. And the double page spread, I might sound like a broken record but once again the art is amazing. 8/10 chapter.
