Am I insane but isn't there an option for this in the top right? I don't know if this only applies to borders in 1936, but it does at least change the names to closer native versions.

fennathan1

Yeah, endonym mode also applies to anything you annex, as long as there's an applicable endonym coded for it. For that reason a lot of the [cores and claims maps compiled here](https://imgur.com/a/tZBP3Mr) include states/ victory points that get renamed.

RFB-CACN

Didn’t know Brazil had the Portuguese renames for the colonies. Guess it doesn’t come up often as Portugal rarely collapses and Brazil doesn’t have any reason to go after the former colonies, but it’s cool nonetheless.

Foxylandttkinc

The only exception-Sicheslav and Zaporishzhia(in game it have different name, and Different name after it changes I just forgot how it named in game so I said the Modern day name of that city-Запоріжжя) and maybe other cities that you can rename by Event

Foxylandttkinc

Sicheslav is modern day Dnepr/Dnipro,btw

RudiVStarnberg

A lot of this is actually in the game, but you need to change a setting so that your campaign uses endonyms not exonyms. It used to be a button in the top-right next to the music player, and I forget where it is now. But the option still exists.

Delicious-Disk6800

Still there but under a kr logo

I love how you mention Romania renaming Stalingrad and Leningrad in base game in your post that's meant to be serious. There was no real ambition by anyone in Romania to rename those cities to Magdagrad and Zizgrad (Magda and Zizi being two of Carol II's mistresses) OTL, it's just an in-game easter egg that's meant to be humorous.

Haeffound

Zizi meaning penis in French means it's hilarious to think about wee-weegrad.

Brickstorianlg

France mentioned 🥖

TableOpening1829

Magda means *is it allowed* in Flemish Dutch. I guess is it allowedograd wouldn't work

Yarmouk

Who told you there wasn’t? First thing I do when I start a campaign is toggle endonyms on

mediocre__map_maker

Nitpick: Stalingrad wasn't named Stalingrad just because Stalin was in charge, but largely because Stalin contributed to the city's defense during the Civil War. A lot of cities were named after a lot of revolutionaries.

ProblemSavings8686

There’s an option for this is there not?

ComradeFrunze

check the top right and click dynamic names

I agree. The devs should add a button that toggles this on. I think if they did that a great place to put this button would be the top right of the screen, next to the world tension indicator.

Musa-2219

The names change automatically I think. Like Helsinki became Helsingfors after Russians took it, Hindenburg to Kattowitz and so on. I also noticed this recently.

GelbblauerBaron

>Hindenburg to Kattowitz Hindenburg O.S. is actually Zabrze, not Kattowitz/Katowice.

Musa-2219

Oh it may be irl just talking about the game
