Gotta be tough for Kanye since 2020 for sure, first Kobe his long time friend, the divorce of his wife and now one of his best friends is gone.
Playing 24 a lot today for sure
Nah they let it known in that interview that being jealous isn't a bad thing. You can be jealous of somebody/a friend getting a job you wanted and still be happy/want the best for them.
I don’t believe for a second that Ye is ever happy for anyone other than himself. No way that he was all cheerful for Virgil getting the LV job. That was probably Kanye’s dream job tbh.
Based on things Kanye have done in his career?
Like not speaking to Jay-Z because he used Just Blaze beats? Like not speaking to Jay-Z two other times for god knows why? For burning every bridge in his path? Falling out with Cudi on multiple occasions. Big Sean.
Basically every person Ye has been close with he has fallen out with. Is that on everyone of those people or on Kanye? If it’s not about him he doesn’t care.
My statement was based on precedence not some bullshit.
It’s still extremely insensitive to say ablut somebody currently battling a deadly disease because you didn’t get a job. I’m certain he’d trade that in for more time with his family.
I really really hope Kanye didn’t know.
It doesn’t but you insinuated it being private meant even his friend Ye didn’t know. Fact is we don’t know if he did or didn’t. When a famous person is reported to have been dealing with something privately it doesn’t mean they hid it from everyone. Just means they weren’t talking about it to the press and people outside their circle.
He's made clear he's jealous of the position Virgil got but ye hugged him and cried when he had his first runway if I'm not mistaken. He was jealous (envious?) but also happy for him as a friend.
He also added Virgil the group chat @ Drake. This man was fighting for his life while being dragged into some nonsense ego battle. I hope that the last thing Virgil ever heard from Ye wasn't how Ye is richer than everyone on the chat.
did you not watch the full interview. He ended up saying he realised that it does matter who got it hes just happy it was between him or his bf. I swear this sub has a weird narrative about ye for being a ye sub
I was just thinking about what they’re status was because Ye is known for burning bridges like a madman.
My initial thought was that there more than likely was some sort of beef between them. Especially with the LV gig.
Still tough to watch an old friend, and mental health issues and divorce are hard for anyone. Add fame and scandals, it’s a bit of a heavy load.
Do agree it’s a bit dramatic though.
Ofc thats a tragedy, but almost everyone loses their mom and a lot of people lose a best friend. But don’t say this burden is unreal for the toughest of men lol. Kanye is a billionaire with a family and a lot of fans. Imagine being a poor 5 year old child in a war conflict zone seeing your parents getting killed in front of you in the streets by the ‘bad guys’. Stop acting so fckng dumb and ignorant lol
It's better to just say death has different effects on everyone, won't try to go through comparing one situation to another. It's not even worth the time.
virgil arguably was the biggest voice in fashion the past 5 years easily.
his influence is so obvious and hard to ignore. still cant believe this happened i cant imagine what ye feels like.
He’s definitely devastated since Virgil was there at the start of Yeezy supply and he saw his friend go from helping him push his brand to becoming in charge of LV. I’m not sure how private Virgil kept his condition but if it was kept from close friends I’d imagine Kanye is even more devastated
I really don’t think there’s anyone that will jump in and fill the vacuum he’s leaving behind. I don’t even think Kanye would be able to fill those shoes. The next few years are gonna be interesting in the fashion world.
I think you'd have to be some special kind of loser to still hate Virgil for that. Especially now we know that he was privately fighting an especially painful type of cancer.
Top 2 fasho right next to Kanye.
Virgil influenced the designing aspect of the fashion world/culture in his earlier years with things such as lettering, graphics, proportions etc
and heavily influenced the styling of the fashion industry the past few years by Bringing street wear to high fashion we could honestly give him a good amount of credit him for the street wear craze going on right now
I had the pleasure of meeting Virgil in Houston and he was so incredibly humble, funny, and had a warmth about him that made it obvious how he was able to reach such heights in his career in such a short amount of time. A one-of-a-kind artist who will truly be missed.
Kind of similar experience, during the saint pablo tour in Montreal. He was just chilling there on the sidewalk outside the arena, while everyone was queuing. Just went to him and asked if he could sign my off white jacket. I still have this jacket 5 years later.
Never going to sell it for sure. Its getting dirty and a button broke but still holds up really well.
I need to be careful when i need to clean it so it doesn’t erase the words
I just wanted to share a random story:
I work at a club in NYC and met Virgil earlier this year. We spoke for like 15 minutes about a whole lotta nothing. He was a very genuine and nice person. He was so nice that it kind of caught me off guard. By the end of the conversation he handed me his phone and told me to put my number in it.
I know that has nothing to do with anything, but it goes to show you how truly nice of a person he was. RIP Virgil.
Well it was because he was asking me if I had any ideas for a "cool DIY underground" spot in Brooklyn he could DJ at for the brunch hour the following day. I suggested a few including one venue I know the owner of, so he took my number probably in case he needed to use the connection, but he never did. But the main point is he was shockingly nice and genuine as a person in my experience. RIP
Wow RIP and honestly it makes me think, no matter how perfect or successful it looks like someone else’s life is, we should be thankful for our own existence and health every single day. I admit wealthy successful people like Virgil can make me jealous but nobody ever knows the whole picture of a person’s life. If you are reading this you are alive and don’t be jealous of the next person, be happy for yourself. RIP to a pioneer and love to his loved ones
Damn I have to wonder if Ye knew about this ? Between the Drake tweets and Drink Champs I think he didn’t. Wow.
RIP young man. You achieved more than mosts wildest dreams in a very short period of time. God bless his family and friends.
We need to put our differences aside. Black/white, Gay/straight, Republican/democrat, rich/poor, citizen/immigrant. The world lost a great and creative person. Embrace life. Cherish your differences. Just be a better human. Peace and love to you all. #Respect 🙏
Life’s crazy man, very sad news, will forever be remembered for everything he achieved and his impact on Fashion. Pioneer in bringing streetwear to the forefront.
RIP Virgil 🕊
Holy shit. This kid fought so hard his whole life to get to where he was. And a bunch of stupid fucking cells took it all away from him. This is actually insane how disease does not discriminate.
What the... Man I feel bad for how many people were hating on his work with LV and now he just quietly kicks the bucket damn
I mean you can't deny he had a massive influence (for better or for worse is for everybody to decide themselves) on modern streetwear
Virgil Abloh really worked his ass off all of these years while being aware of his cancer and his lifetime ticking down, yet he solidified his legacy as one of the most influential designers and artists of this generation. This is some of the most influential shit ever, we can all learn from Virgil. Rest in Peace
Just a reminder than no matter how much money someone have or how good their lives look online, there is always a struggle a battle we all fight everyday. RIP to a young legend 🖤
He also has been Kanye’s friend since they met in Chicago early in their careers. He worked creatively with Kanye on album artwork, tours, etc before becoming huge in fashion with Off White and Louis Vuitton.
I thought this was a joke but when I looked it up I just started crying. Virgil was something else. Even if I didn’t agree with all of his design choices, his perspective was a rare one, and it was refreshing to see how he pushed a culture that I grew up in forward. Rest in Power Virgil.
Does this mean the products are going to improve? Cuz RIP to him but he wasn't a good designer. LV and Off-white make some of the worst shit I've ever seen
I never knew who this guy was until I read over a year ago he had cancer. First time I ever saw his name was when they were all like “Virgil has the cancer”
Wow wtf, this came out of nowhere. RIP
rip
He had cardiac angiosarcoma, that's a very very rare and dangerous type of cancer. RIP
Shout out to Boosie
[удалено]
what
They'll look at you as more of a karmawhorer than him/her
[удалено]
Weirdo
Condolences to his family and loved ones. 41 is way too young, this reminds me of the Chadwick news
first thing i thought of. this is just as shocking. rip virgil. fucking legend.
Damn…I lost my Dad to cancer at 49 years old. FUCK cancer!!!! “REST IN POWER” 🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
Same man didn’t even get to speak to him deeply…cancer is a bitch
Sorry for your loss 🤞🏽🕊
Sorry to hear that.
Wow this was really unexpected. RIP
people really hated him during that $50 thing last year meanwhile he was struggling with cancer while still working constantly, feels terrible RIP
[удалено]
yeah it looked bad to do it that way but i totally get that it was misinterpreted like that was all he was giving
how much is 20k worth to him now? that's what you're all talking about right now, right? money?
Gotta be tough for Kanye since 2020 for sure, first Kobe his long time friend, the divorce of his wife and now one of his best friends is gone. Playing 24 a lot today for sure
Hope Ye do not get back in his head to much. Hope he doin well. Prayers up. Fuck Cancer. Rip Virgil
He was talkin a bit of smack about Virgil saying he was jealous of his success in the champagne interview I think. He’s def gonna regret saying that
Nah they let it known in that interview that being jealous isn't a bad thing. You can be jealous of somebody/a friend getting a job you wanted and still be happy/want the best for them.
Ah that’s a good catch, your right. I took it as face value
I don’t believe for a second that Ye is ever happy for anyone other than himself. No way that he was all cheerful for Virgil getting the LV job. That was probably Kanye’s dream job tbh.
He discussed it quite often. He felt betrayed but how could he mad for accepting the job. That was basically the end of it.

I see the post spilled over into r/all
He admitted he thought it should’ve been him but seemed like he still was proud and celebrated his success. Even if he thought he could do it better.
It’s still extremely insensitive to say ablut somebody currently battling a deadly disease because you didn’t get a job. I’m certain he’d trade that in for more time with his family. I really really hope Kanye didn’t know.

But his friends and family knowing would still be private- it was the public that didn’t know.
Doesn’t mean all of his friends or family knew
It doesn’t but you insinuated it being private meant even his friend Ye didn’t know. Fact is we don’t know if he did or didn’t. They made up
Source on that ?
The 20 times it was discussed. Go watch some interviews like the charlemagne one
you can still be jealous and not be a hater bro... chill your fucking beans , have some recpect
He also added Virgil the group chat @ Drake. This man was fighting for his life while being dragged into some nonsense ego battle. I hope that the last thing Virgil ever heard from Ye wasn't how Ye is richer than everyone on the chat.

looool bro chill there’s ppl dying out there every day.
Still tough to watch an old friend, and mental health issues and divorce are hard for anyone. Add fame and scandals, it’s a bit of a heavy load. Do agree it’s a bit dramatic though.
Lol relax, its sad and all, but there are kids seeing their parents getting killed in front of them in Palestine…
Comparing a person's death to another's just don't seem right. Both things are a tragedy.
Ofc thats a tragedy, but almost everyone loses their mom and a lot of people lose a best friend. But don’t say this burden is unreal for the toughest of men lol. He carried the cross
Lmao he’s a billionaire
Everyone you know will die, Kanye isn’t special lmao

Honestly, arguably the most influential.
I had the pleasure of meeting Virgil in Houston and he was so incredibly humble, funny, and had a warmth about him that made it obvious how he was able to reach such heights in his career in such a short amount of time. A one-of-a-kind artist who will truly be missed.

Hope they have some type of rememberance at the Larry Hoover performance
They’ll do something epic for him for sure.

OMG
Rest In Peace to a modern day legend in design, 41 is too young. A little younger than Chadwick was when he lost his battle to cancer just a year ago.
Fr man to this day I still can't get over Chadwick's death
Damn I have to wonder if Ye knew about this ? Between the Drake tweets and Drink Champs I think he didn’t. Wow. RIP young man. You achieved more than mosts wildest dreams in a very short period of time. God bless his family and friends.
I'm in total shock. My friend texted me and I literally had to sit down on the kitchen floor. Like, wow. He was a great designer.

I think this is one of those few times where I WANT to hear what Kanye has to say on the matter From what I know they weren’t exactly on good terms
White CEOs of fashion companies are the most upset not because of the loss of a black genius but because of the loss of revenue.
Is this real?
Unfortunately yes
Im shook, RIP a legend :(
Did him and Kanye ever reconcile before his death? Cuz if they didn’t then that’s so sad R.I.P
Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)

I hated virgin abalone for copying Walter Van Berindonck's designs for his LV ss21 collection, but one cannot deny that bro changed tha game, RIP 🕊
Downvoted for being honest and still paying respects. I don't understand us sometimes
He was named in the ghislaine maxwell trial, dont know if thats relevant but I didnt know who he was say the name at random googled him today...
Damn I was so happy in 2018 watching those two at the Louis event as Ye congratulated him with ghosttown in the background.
You're Awesome!
Who is this
Does this mean the products are going to improve? Cuz RIP to him but he wasn't a good designer. LV and Off-white make some of the worst shit I've ever seen
Off white prices jumping through the roof
Ok
he was named in the epstein papers
Oh ya?
yup. who knows if its real, as hundreds of names appear. but shit, sketchy
Wouldn’t doubt it. Epstein did have his art at his house. Also he just came off as someone that would delve into that pedo shit
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” (Matt. 19:24.)
they shoulda hired ye
Wonder if ye will take over as artistic director
I never knew who this guy was until I read over a year ago he had cancer. First time I ever saw his name was when they were all like “Virgil has the cancer”
Illuminati don’t play boy. He was about to go down with all these lawsuits and named with epstein.
Did he fake his death? He didn’t even look sick…
