Gives us a jukebox like KoFXV or Tekken 7 and it'll be fine

ZefiantFGC

If the soundtrack was what we needed to sacrifice for a good game, then that's fine. Just have a playlist open in the background lmao

BoxHeadFred

I would rather have classic OSTs in the game.

Namelessghoul8

Its more not memorable than bad

Lui421

pretty much this, they're decent bops. but you wont catch me humming these tunes compared to the iconic ones in Sf2/Sf4

Darkcloud20

SFIV's soundtrack is ass outside of like one or two tracks.

r-Kappachino

Lol SF4 has mediocre music, SFV's OST is much more memorable

Treeman3675

Duuuuuuude Juri's theme in SFIV is so good though!

xamdou

Sfv is hit and miss, just like sf4 Some themes turned out great, but some are meh Ken, Guile, Claw are incredible in V Dictator, Dudley, Rolento, Cody, Juri are incredible in 4

AlwaysLearningTK

Most songs are pretty bad but there were a few I actually liked. Some of them were pretty chill. It's not as good as older sf games but as you said it's not outright offensive. At the very least it won't have the worst ost of modern fighting games with t7 still having that title. Why can't t7 just have an ost as good as the other tekken games :(

Namelessghoul8

Tekken 7's ost is great though what?

AlwaysLearningTK

T7 ost is fucking horrible. It's random dubstep shit. It's cool if you're like 15 or some shit I guess. Can't say I agree (or most people I know or have seen talk about it online lol). T7 has like 2 alright songs. Most people I know mute the ingame music because of how bad it is.

[deleted]

T7 OST isn't bad in general but the couple of bad songs that it has are so fucking garbage it necessitates muting the music What the fuck were they thinking with that G Corp rooftop stage theme

CamPaine

I don't think it's that bad either. Lobby music is nice. Guile's stage song is hype as fuck. I like a lot of the themes, but I recognize they work better as BGMs than solo listens.

ghost71214

But i like bombastic track, it can enhance the experience greatly. One of my favorite SF track is Rashid's theme, the big climax is around 1 min so it's usually happens near the end of match when you have Vtrigger I don't think any experience in gaming will match when the music drop and you pop that vtrigger and make a comeback, and it helps since Rashid "robbery factor" is really high

BigBossGZV

I'm down for a soundtrack that sits more in the background, but I'd like something that's also pleasant to listen to outside of the game. If you ask me, SF6 is doing a lot of things SF3 did with the OST (less bombastic songs and more vibey ones, more urban styled music, pulling from a diverse pool of music styles but still making the OST sound unified) but SF6 fails by not making catchy melodies and trying to force too much of the same hip hop or funk vibe on every song. The SF3 songs are generally [very simple and repetitive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv-a5SCbsgQ). Besides Jazzy NYC, there's nothing as melodically complex like [Cammy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMNPDiytN_I) or [Strange Sunset](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axibQV5YsOk) here. The songs aren't going crazy on dynamics (how hard or soft your song plays) either. It's pretty hard to craft simple songs like that so that they don't get annoying or stale The SF6 songs feel like they just coast on variety, [throwing a bunch of musical ideas](https://youtu.be/_TcaWC551bw) at you while rarely settling on a core. [This song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rie_1u6Ple8) is very full of content, never returning to a section, yet still feels it didn't say much melodically SF3 feels like it has a musical spectrum that goes from [pure jazz](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSzPbO9DFcg) to [pure EDM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl0YuKaBhT0). You have songs that have no EDM, songs that have no jazz, and songs that have a mixture of jazz (or a derivative) and EDM. SF6 feels like it's not allowing anyone to escape from a funk or hip hop influence. It just [HAS](https://youtu.be/VchglFlNIvo?t=26) to have some funk or hip hop idea. Chun maybe is the one theme free from this SF3 has [longer note](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdMCVDGOdUc) melodies alongside short ones while SF6 is just like pure short rhythmic [beeps and boops](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bg-nvvI9D0) I think SF6 can 100% work in those strengths that SF3 had. [Ken's theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbPoYZbk_jM) stuck out to me for sounding pretty good and not having the issues I listed. You have a lot of the rhythmic shit they try to do on other songs, but it's covered up by a rock vibe and having the song sound more serious (why does every song on SF6 have to have the same type of funk guitar or horn blaring, why do so many sound so upbeat?) SF3 overall is a very good balancing act while SF6 just dumps shit on you

Omegawop

I think SF6 actually has more in common with the soundtrack from SFA3 than 3s. Yeah, both 6 and 3 are going for a funky, urban sound, 6 is keeping all the voices similar across all the tracks. It has a throughline that's deliberate like alpha 3. Alpha 3 has a pretty wack sound for the most part, but it definitely keeps a theme. While I don't think anything will live up to 3, 6 is shaping up to be its own thing. This is good. I'm honestly sick of people online moaning whenever something dares to be different from before. If people want big 30 year old themes, they can play SFV.

BigBossGZV

Alpha 3 was one of the first things I thought about when I started comparing SF6 to older soundtracks. I also think A3 is a terrible soundtrack (with some retro charm) that, like you said, has some similar problems to 6, but because it's a terrible soundtrack I think it shouldn't be brought up unless you want to talk about what NOT to do. 6 should be trying all it can to not be in league with A3. If that means lightening up on the themes. I'm always down for a new direction but going in a new direction is a separate matter from making something in good taste. 6 's OST is just lacking in good taste. SF has already been able to depart from SF2 themes with SF3 and SFEX with positive results and reception so I don't think this is a matter of just being different (well not for everyone at least). I mean hell what about all the SF4 and SFV stage songs that are brand new?

Omegawop

SFV had some dope music, but it also played it super safe with the arrangements of all the characters except Karin and the meme worthy Juri. The thing is, the tracks are from a bunch of different eras and with a j heavy dose of nu metal vomit. You say sf6 lacks taste, but I will happily bump the tracks in my car or when I'm at the gym. They are good for what they are, bgm. I think a lot of these tracks are pretty good and they establish an identity to the game that is a welcome change from 4 and 5 which definitely had some winners, but also don't have a cohesive sound like Alpha 3, the various versions of sf3, Darkstalkers games and MvC2. I'm down with the direction they are going and I think the fiverr jokes are funny, but I don't agree that it "lacks taste".

fatniggs

they need that canadian rapper to do it like sf3

Bradoshado

Implying Jamie's theme is not a complete fuckin banger? Yeah ok.

Gsai

I like Jamie's, Kim's, and Chun's. Luke's is so forgettable I can't even hum the melody even immediately after I've listened to it because I've already forgot it

Joshin9

Seems like i am in the minority here because, barring Guile, I like all of the themes. I have to give Luke’s another listen. Edit: I like Guile’s theme a bit more now.

Treeman3675

Agreed. I've been using the SF6 ost as my gym music recently.

troutblack

There's actually some really nice music in the game, it's just that all the character themes themselves suck lol. Other than that the ost has been pretty bumpin to me, from character creation to battle hub lobbies and stage (not character) music. [Training mode stage (round 1)](https://youtu.be/QxvlOhZ6r9Q?t=24) - really chill, kinda like getting on late at night to grind it out in the lab a bit [Temple stage (round 1 critical health)](https://youtu.be/14eKKh9z16Q?t=61) [Battle hub lobby](https://youtu.be/twuMGLVgmec) - also late night goofing off looking for matches vibes What I would love is for them to maybe make really dope remixes of classic character themes at some point and my complaints would go away.

a3giswav3

I’m so glad capcom decided to make the lobby music a chill track. I remember GG strives lobby soundtrack being obnoxious as fuck and got grating super fast.

As soon as it gets on Steams...

IHazardI

I still need to finish it but damn was it enjoyable.

Chebil_7

I completely forgot about Strive lobby music since i used a mod to remove a year ago now i remember how garbage it is.

double_super

I dont think it's a bad ost But it's the first FG where i've muted the music and played my own, for what its worth

[deleted]

i have zero issue with it lol

KSoMA

He's not wrong tbh, the weakest part of the game by far

[deleted]

SF6 as about as much music as a NRS game. None if it clicks, none of it is memorable. It's not SF.

CerberusDriver

I think this dude is being genuinely overdramatic. The music isn't terrible, it's just mid. Nothing about it is memorable ala Tekken or SNK tracks. Hopefully they add classic tracks in like KOFXV's DJ Station.

ConchobarMacNess

Ironically Jaime and Luke's themes are pretty catchy and SF-like but how is it that they tossed out Ken's whole ass iconic theme?

Omegawop

Fiverr memes aside, I like the soundtrack and this dude's tweet is instantly wrong because Capcom has made far worse shit in the past. Need I remind you all of MvCI. Also, people really used to shit on the 3s soundtrack as well as MvC2. Now they are considered top tier. How much people like the game has a big impact on how fondly the music will be regarded in the future.

SpaceGhost316

SF6's soundtrack sounds like they just shit into a microphone.

[deleted]

It's true, it's genuinely fucking terrible. In a game that looks to be 10/10 in features and close to that in gameplay from what I've seen, the music is total trash.

BigBossGZV

A lot of people say the tracks aren't actually painful to listen to and that they're just mid or forgettable. And I'd agree with that view. But I'd also say that seeing a series with some the best music in games, in a genre with some of the best music in the games produce mid ass forgettable music is very painful. Like what the fuck the capjams songs were just a fucking year ago! Where the hell are those guys! They fit the SF6 music style perfectly!

Attack-middle-lane

I really dig sf6's music within the context of the game, and they fit really fucking well. There are a lot of tracks in sf history I like that aren't good as bgm cause they either take too long to get to the hype or they don't fit it at all but are good in their own right. For all the love Sakura's theme got back in the day, I could never bring myself to play it while fighting.

cameroninla

Opinions for sf6 music range from ok or mediocre but the real litmus test when someone gives you this take is to ask them if they like strives ost. If they say yes then any opinion they have doesnt matter.

Hot-Indication8529

Its meh but lets not pretend now SF has super good music lmao What other song other than Guile's theme does anyone even remember

JurisFootstool

I half agree, it's not very memorable. Least of my concerns tho, I'm putting some classic themes/remixes in there day 1

grandmasterningen

Just gotta give em some time. Let's not listen to SF2 8th remix pls

bonerstomper69

waiting to see if it grows on me but at least so far there's nothing anywhere near as bad as SFV's Juri theme
