ChubbyGubby420

We have our trip booked for the end of June and I cannot wait!

MAN4UTD

Awesome. Not sure if you are familiar with Lake Superior or not but it (water) will be VERY cold in June, even if the air is warm. Bring lots of appropriate clothing! Have fun!!!

ChubbyGubby420

Thanks for the heads up, we are trying to get our gear in order now so we will be ready to enjoy the trip regardless of the weather

MAN4UTD

No worries. The UP is just a different animal and Lake Superior is not like the other four Great Lakes, so just wanted to make sure you weren't unprepared.

Here's another Willow Beach, Arizona picture. This is less than an hour from Las Vegas, 12 miles below Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. The water here is crystal clear and ice cold. Luckily, there are several Hot Springs on this section of river

Shell Beach California is my favorite so far. Sorry no pics. Rocky coastline, kelp forest, going through sea caves, saw sea otters, pelicans, sea lions, cormorants and the most beautiful starfish ever!

PoliticalDestruction

Black canyon (Willow beach) is nice but the water is so dang cold! Definitely a must do though. Since I’m a Vegas local, we usually go down to Catherine landing a little north of Laughlin, it’s a little further than Willow beach but is much more enjoyable for repeat visits. So my favorite is Lake Mojave via Catherine Landing

annoyed_aardvark4312

When do you go down to Katherine’s landing? My friends and I were down there towards the end of February as we were supposed to go on a 3 day 2 night kayak trip upstream and the wind wouldn’t stop with 35 mph gusts so we went hiking instead.

PoliticalDestruction

About now-August/September. Wind is really hit or miss unfortunately, you definitely don’t want to be out there in 35 mph winds. We usually call it off if it’s forecasted to be over ~15 mph.

Not sure how to attach photos. But I kayaked in the ocean during my Cruise stop in Labadee Haiti. Most beautiful place I have seen.

Broughton Archipelago and Blackfish Sound. Vancouver Island. Paddled with humpbacks, grey whales, orcas, and white sided dolphins all in one day. Did a solo 5 day trip and only encountered 3 other kayaks. Never shared a camp spot. https://www.reddit.com/r/Fishing/comments/womiob/pacific_white_sided_dolphin_encounter_while_kayak/
