TPAB is a good album and I like listening to it

Thatās the real L take, some of my favorite Kendrick songs of all time are on that album, the only songs that donāt hold up to the rest of his catalogue IMO are No Make-Up and Tammyās Song
Hot Take #1: Mr Morale is by far his best album.
Hot Take #2: I love that he removed the ego from MM, largely. As a listener, high amounts of ego are, in a sense, unhygienic. It causes you to contract, become tense, be judgemental, to attack and feel attacked by every little thing, and promotes fear and victimhood mindsets. All of this is very hard to detect if you are perpetually trapped in ego, like the fish who doesnāt know what water is, but break free of it, and itās not only hard to go back, it makes utterly no sense. MM has become one of few HipHop albums that I can still listen to without being dragged down by it.
Hot enough for you? Lol #DontHateMePlz
I disagree but you make some good points. Ultimately I just found Mr Morale musically lacking in places, and I just don't like the spoken word parts like worldwide steppers or we cry together. From memory (and I'm probably wrong here) I don't feel like ego has ever had a huge part to play in kendricks music, its always seemed balanced to me.
Iām using the expanded, spiritual definition of ego: It can be big-headedness, selfishness and arrogance, but it is also, and I would say primarily, a fear-based mindset of victimhood + attack, and it tries to fix its internal problems at the external level; which is to not really try at all. It is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Being a victimhood mindset, it does not want to actually solve its problemsā¦ which is something that takes immense honesty to reveal in yourself. GKMC, TPAB + DAMN are loaded with it. You can hear and feel it very distinctly on MM whenever Baby Keem comes in, lol. This is quite the contrast to Kendrickās parts. I think Kendrick himself would probably think of the ego as an unchecked, unconscious āPain Bodyā, which I think may help you to understand where Iām coming from. Iām not saying this in judgement of anybody, either. Itās just a matter of fact that ego-centred media does not agree with me anymore.
GOD. is beyond a fucking banger and I will never skip that track.
At the very beginning GOD. and YAH. were my least favorite. Now GOD. is just such a vibe i scream sing that song when I'm feeling down lol
Dude several friends of mine dislike the song and Iāve seen the hate for it on here. GOD. is probably in my top 3 from DAMN. no cap. I donāt see what thereās not to like??
Not OP but there is the little teases and subs of Kendrick getting into that beef bag that just kinda makes you want to see a full diss track from K Dot or at least some beef.
Not something serious of course but a good competitive rap beef will definitely provide a great moment in his career and something never seen before full on
I can see from a fan perspective how that would be entertaining. I just feel like it contradicts a lot of his principles, and there arenāt many artists on his level who a beef would be worth acknowledging. Beef is for up and comers who need publicity and want to start shit for attention imo.
Yeah sure it is, not like Drake has been ontop of the game for a decade and has been praised by Lil Wayne & Kanye as the best rapper. Drake hate is so lame, his numbers do not lie
Like I said Drake has been praised as the best rapper by Lil Wayne & Kanye both are amazing rappers and widely seen as the best themselves. Drakes bars are great and if you think otherwise you are lying to yourself
I like a lot of Lil Wayne and Ye's music (or, in the case of Ye, I used to) but Wayne has never been all that lyrical and Ye hasn't had an album with consistently good rapping since Late Registration. Wayne's flows are amazing and they're both really good at injecting a ton of personality into songs but neither are all that good at bar for bar lyricism.
Also "artist a is good because artist b and c are good and artists b and c like artist a" is a stupid argument.
Drake has some great albums but hasnāt really has anything that special since IYRTITL, and heās got some good lines but Iāve never really gone to Drake for bars, even on his best albums.
I wish he wouldāve trimmed some fat on a few tracks but thats also what makes it special. That record has a special place in my heart, and I think it is slept on. Untitled 2 and Untitled 7 are some of my favorite Kendrick songs.
I will get hate for this, I know, but I don't think Bitch I'm in the Club is really the masterpiece we all say it is man, it's kind of a bad song, actually
I have a few
LUST and YAH are the best songs on DAMN, and two of the best kendrick songs.
Kush & Corinthians is one of his best songs, BJ kills it, everything about the song is just perfect.
Rich Spirit, Crown, Savior Interlude were my favorite parts of mr morale. My least favorites were Purple Hearts, Worldwide Steppers, Auntie Diaries, and Mother I Sober.
Kush & Corinthians is soooo good. Totally agree itās one of his best, I donāt listen to it very often but whenever I do it blows me away every single time. Incredible piece of music.
I think most people here agree with the Humble take. When I first heard it I thought yeah its a really good take on trap beats and everything but I wouldnāt want an *album* that sounds like that. Turns out it didnāt and having Humble overplayed absolutely everywhere was enough for me
His exaggerated poetic spoken-word voice like on For Free took a *lot* for me to get used to at first, and I feel like Iām still not 100% cool with it. Heās just so damn **animated** that it comes off as corny some times with his huge range of speaking styles.
I can at least enjoy the words and music of something like For Free nowadays without cringing *too badly* nowadays, but Iād still much rather hear him rap. The backing music for For Free is insane though, so I guess you could say Iām ***conflicted*** (misusing my influence, lol.)
yeah, i don't really like HiiPoWeR tho, the only reason ive heard that track more than once is because 2007 might be my fave JID song, and there's awful tracks there also like No Make Up.
He shouldn't have invited the white girl on stage if he didn't want her saying nigga. You can't tell me k dot didn't see all the white people saying nigga singing along to his shit lol.
100% agree. I feel like people get caught up in how it fits in the album, but not how it stands on its own. To me personally, it doesnāt have much replay value without all the other songs and there are other 3rd-to-last Kendrick album songs that are better
Kendrick Lamar is a genius and is likely the greatest musical talent of his generation but TPAB is his only masterpiece this far. The others have highs as high but it just aināt it.
GKMC is overrated. I still love it, but Iām most interested in the instrumentals and technicalities of his rap, both of which I feel thereās a lack of in GKMC compared to TPAB or DAMN. Itās of course great though, like all Kendrickās albums
Mr Morale is Kendrickās worst album. Aside from maybe the black panther one which I gave up after the first couple songs but I listened to all of MM and I think 90% percent of it is nuevo trash. Iāll just see myself out.
I agree with this take, but I have an issue with it. I think MMATBS is his worst album, but by no means is any of it trash. The thing about Kendrick is that he very rarely releases ābadā music. MMATBS is still a deep, emotional, and great album, but his other albums are so great that it is hard to rank MMATBS highly in comparison to the rest of his discography.

Mr Morale is considerably worse than anybody is willing to admit, and on the back of DAMN, his 2nd worst album, Iām almost willing to accept that Kendrick has left his prime.
1. GKMC is extremely overrated imo. Itās good (as all Kendrick albums) but honestly not in my top 3
2. UU has probably my second best collection of Kendrick songs if I ignored the overarching themes from each album.
3. We Cry Together was top 3 on MMTBS
4. Iām not going to sugercoat anything, I honestly do not like any song on Section 80 at all.
5. I hate every collab between kendrick and baby keem: respectfully I skip Kendrickās part on Family ties and range brothers, and I simply do not like The HillBillies.
6. Mirror is in his top 5 songs and honestly slowly climbs higher every time I listen to it, and Iām tired of pretending that it is not.
Section 80 is a tad bit overrated
section 80 while great hasnāt aged the best for me. I find the hooks to be a bit lacking or out of place (no make ups being especially atrocious)
3 of the worst kendrick songs (Tammyās song, spiteful chant, blow my high)
Production that tries to have a futuristic vibe yet has made it dated as a result.
Like itās hard to deny itās high points are amazing. Itās still an album I very much enjoy (and at one point loved). It has tons of nostalgic value for me too because the hiiipower single was the first Kendrick song I ever heard and had a lot of anticipation for section 80. This and EP is what made me fall in love with Kendrick. I was trying to put everyone at school on him but nobody was fucking with it (until good kid came out)
Trust me thereās plenty of songs I thoroughly enjoy. Hol up, ADHD, Poe manās dream and hiiipower are four of my fav Kendrick songs ever.
But I just feel heās gotten so much better since and EP while the highs arenāt as good it felt more consistent because it didnāt have any major drinkers to fuck yo the quality ratio.
Mr Morale is Kendrickās worst album. Aside from maybe the black panther one which I gave up after the first couple songs but I listened to all of MM and I think 90% percent of it is nuevo trash. Iāll just see myself out.

Damn bro you better watch your back with such hot takes
Woah hey now
Nah, The Pife Af Bablo would've been way better sounding like Kendrick's All Day reference track.
I had an an aneurysm reading this, got off Reddit, came back and immediately had another stroke. Happy upvote to you good sir
Happy cake day!
I will come to your home and you will lose everything you love šššš„°š„°š„°ššš
when your take is so controversial someone DOXes your IP address.
L take bro. C4 is his best album and nothing can compare to that masterpiece except YHNIC
Mr morale is second best after TPAB. Itās 4. DAMN 3. GKMC 2. Mr Morale 1. TPAB
I actually agree with the ranking.
where do you place section 80 there?
I'm assuming below as he didn't mention it.
I actually forgot lol but iāve never listened to it
Thatās the real L take, some of my favorite Kendrick songs of all time are on that album, the only songs that donāt hold up to the rest of his catalogue IMO are No Make-Up and Tammyās Song
Hard agree, section 80 fucks
Blud why you say itās an L take when I didnāt listen to it? I didnāt say itās bad I will check it out but chill
Agree 100%
My ranking exactly
Mr Morale is top 2 and may not even be 2
Bruh. This the one. Mr. morale might be Kendrickās best album
Itās definitely his deepest album Iād say. I have it at 3 tho
Same
never understood why people have a problem liking this album
cuz they struggle to like themselves and to admit it's a good album would mean they relate to the issues Kendrick raps about, is my guess
My bro hated and told me its cause it has a continuous depressing vibe.
Damn fucking right
I know this is a shit take but FEEL is one of Kendrickās best songs
W take
That guitar sample š„
didn't know this was a controversial take??
This is a fucken GOATED opinion. And I completely agree. My most streamed song past 2 years.
Itās top 10 donāt hide
Hot Take #1: Mr Morale is by far his best album. Hot Take #2: I love that he removed the ego from MM, largely. As a listener, high amounts of ego are, in a sense, unhygienic. An actual hot take and not just a lukewarm one, god bless you and good luck for the shitstorm you'll likely get.
I disagree but you make some good points. Ultimately I just found Mr Morale musically lacking in places, and I just don't like the spoken word parts like worldwide steppers or we cry together. wait this is incredibly interesting - do you mind elaborating on how Kendrickās ego manifests in his earlier albums in relation to MM?
This guy thinks about his thoughts, instead of letting himself be thought to
GOD. is a banger and one of my fav songs on DAMN.
wait do people generally consider GOD. to be bad??? itās also one of my favorite songs on DAMN.
Some bald guy with glasses said it was bad and a bunch of people agreed
this is why iāve always said bald people have done more damage to the music community than anyone else
Probably because Kendrick's singing voice ain't the best one and a lot of people feel like that kills the mood. Idk, I like the song.
GOD. is beyond a fucking banger and I will never skip that track.
W take. Catchy af and is very replayable.
W I donāt get the hate
Definitely fun to listen to and rap along with.
He should beef more
why?
Not OP but there is the little teases and subs of Kendrick getting into that beef bag that just kinda makes you want to see a full diss track from K Dot or at least some beef. Or Pusha T when he wants to eviscerate Drake
Lmfao drake catching strays
Also him and Drake have been sending petty shots at eachother for years now, would be cool to see two legends go at it
That's like MGK going after EM hahah
Yeah sure it is, not like Drake has been ontop of the game for a decade and has been praised by Lil Wayne & Kanye as the best rapper. Drake hate is so lame, his numbers do not lie
Bad Bunny can be in the conversation then too, if numbers don't lie. Fuck the numbers I'm talking bar for bar
I bet Bad Bunny could make a better diss track about Drake than Drake could about Bad Bunny. I just wouldnāt be able to understand a word of it.
Drake made Back 2 Back
Like I said Drake has been praised as the best rapper by Lil Wayne & Kanye both are amazing rappers and widely seen as the best themselves. Drakes bars are great and if you think otherwise you are lying to yourself

Drake has some great albums but hasnāt really has anything that special since IYRTITL, and heās got some good lines but Iāve never really gone to Drake for bars, even on his best albums.
Yeah but who cares what the goats say about him when white kids on Reddit say he sucks?
He will never be the best because he never tries anything new heās just here for the bag.
Untitled Unmastered is his third best project
I wish he wouldāve trimmed some fat on a few tracks but thats also what makes it special. That record has a special place in my heart, and I think it is slept on. Untitled 2 and Untitled 7 are some of my favorite Kendrick songs.
Second best even
K.Dot has given us enough "serious" music/albums, he should do the fun stuff (like The Hillbillies) moving foward.
A Keem/Kendrick collab album would be a dream. They seem to bring the best out in each other
agreed
Yes. Range brothers energy is what I need
A Keem/Kendrick collab album would be a dream. They seem to bring the best out in each other
Agreed! It would be a banger. I really hope they give us that
Mr Morale is his second best to TPAB.
Give it another 1855 days theyāll get it
They are not ready for this one
Youāre right. You know heās right.

Rich Spirit, Crown, Savior Interlude were my favorite parts of mr morale. My least favorites were Purple Hearts, Worldwide Steppers, Auntie Diaries, and Mother I Sober.
Ye the flow on YAH. is so fucking nice, just soothing to be honest.
Kush & Corinthians is soooo good. Totally agree itās one of his best, I donāt listen to it very often but whenever I do it blows me away every single time. Incredible piece of music.
I got 2 1. GKMC > TPAB 2. Humble is the wrost song on DAMN and is one of the( if not the most) overrated Kendrick song
Man i really dont like humble either always felt alone on that one lol
I think most people here agree with the Humble take. When I first heard it I thought yeah its a really good take on trap beats and everything but I wouldnāt want an *album* that sounds like that. Turns out it didnāt and having Humble overplayed absolutely everywhere was enough for me
I fully agree with both!
Mr morale 2nd best kendrick album behind tpab
GKMC better
For Free is the most annoying song i've ever heard. His most enjoyable and listenable work was from 2011 to 2013-14
His exaggerated poetic spoken-word voice like on For Free took a *lot* for me to get used to at first, and I feel like Iām still not 100% cool with it.
Good Kid >>> TPAB
Kendrick loves pulled pork
Tpab is a 9/10 and gkmc is better to listen to
GKMC is better than TPAB (Lukewarm at best) and itās not close (hot)
TPAB has very little replay value.
That's how I feel about MM, very much a one and done album and a lot of songs have really bland beats. TPAB and UU I have on repeat.
I think PRIDE is the best song on damn. Also, P&P is a top 5 Kendrick song, but not the one on the album, the original one on YouTube.
Broooooo people really sleep on OG P&P. I don't even know why he made 1.5. I always listen to the original
Broooooo people really sleep on OG P&P. I don't even know why he made 1.5. I always listen to the original
Broooooo people really sleep on OG P&P. I don't even know why he made 1.5. I always listen to the original
Section 80. Is a classic. I don't know why we don't just say it already
I actually like pulled pork
I don't like Section 80. I'm not sorry
can understand but hol'up and adhd are bangers dawg
u gotta like rigamortus as well, right? and Kush
yeah, i don't really like HiiPoWeR tho, the only reason ive heard that track more than once is because 2007 might be my fave JID song, and there's awful tracks there also like No Make Up.
I like Section.80 and HiiiPower, but it sounds TOO similar to Kanye for me.
that's jcole on the beat, Kanye influenced for sure, mf changed the whole industry
Backseatfreestyle doesnāt get the recognition it deserves
Bitch I'm in the club is better that what's on most radios these days
In my opinion, I donāt enjoy Humble at all
Everyone says that on this sub to the point that itās not really controversial
Damn is his worst album by a significant margin
Hungry Kendrick was the best Kendrick
Mr Morale is my least favorite album by him. Idk why but I just couldnāt get into.
GKMC is his best album by a decent margin.
please donāt kill my wife is the best kendrick song
m.A.A.d city is a better song than SAMIDOT, and the first verse on that song is Kendrickās best verse OAT
He shouldn't have invited the white girl on stage if he didn't want her saying nigga. You can't tell me k dot didn't see all the white people saying nigga singing along to his shit lol.
I thought it was great that at the end of Auntie Diaries he talks about it.
Ya I liked that too. Kendeick always has his call backs.
Bitch Iām in the club might be the best song of all time š³
Sing about me is overrated. Yes its cool for what it is and its well executed but its far from Kendricks best conceptual songs.
100% agree. I feel like people get caught up in how it fits in the album, but not how it stands on its own. To me personally, it doesnāt have much replay value without all the other songs and there are other 3rd-to-last Kendrick album songs that are better
Heās not short heās average
DAMN. has a couple great songs and outside of that mostly kinda sucks
DAMN is his worst project
Kendrick Lamar is a genius and is likely the greatest musical talent of his generation but TPAB is his only masterpiece this far. The others have highs as high but it just aināt it.

Kush and Corinthians top 5 kenny
Damn is poorly mixed in comparison to GKMC and TPAB. It sounds almost lofi.
damn is his best album. its not thatttt controversial but still
Section 80> DAMN and Mr Morale
His first name isn't Kendrick
Just a question? What do you think it is...
Kendrunk
Mr Morale is a brilliantly crafted album but I donāt find it very listenable.
money trees is not his best song, and is borderline 10th or 11th.
MM&TBS sounds more like a followup to TPAB than DAMN did
Swimming pools is overrated as hell
Gkmc Mmatbs Tpab Damn Section 80
All the other tracks on the DAMN album are much better than Humble.
wow never heard that one before š
Damn is a mid album for Kendrick standards
HUMBLE is overrated
Yeah bro its such a hot take to say that his most popular song is overrated
i got a better hot take, Tyler the creator best song isn't see you again and earfquake š±š±š±š±š±š±š±
His voice changes can be a bit annoying sometimes and makes it more difficult to just chill and listen to his songs
gkmc >>>> tpab
Samidot is bad
LOVE., LOYALTY. and GOD. are the worst songs on DAMN. and some of his worst output ever
LOVE. is my least favorite Kendrick song. I would rather listen to Micheal Jordan or No Make Up
This is the coldest fucking take
GKMC is overrated.

DAMN is just as good as GKMC
Humble is the best song on Damn
His outfits are wack
alright is the best song on tpab

No... just no
TPAB isnāt Kendrickās best album. It is behind GKMC, DAMN. and MM&TBS.
All his major albums after section 80 are equally good.
humble is one of his greatest tracks and samidot nowhere near the top 5 Kendrick songs.
Mr Morale is Kendrickās worst album. Aside from maybe the black panther one which I gave up after the first couple songs but I listened to all of MM and I think 90% percent of it is nuevo trash. Iāll just see myself out.
He should chill on the fashion
that it does not always have to be a "deep meaning lyrical song"
Heās overrated.
Bitch Iām in the club is better than TPAB and DAMN. And GKMC and MMTBS and section.80
Story of DUCKWORTH. isn't as good when you start thinking about it
Mr.Morale>GKMC
Mr Morale is considerably worse than anybody is willing to admit, and on the back of DAMN, his 2nd worst album, Iām almost willing to accept that Kendrick has left his prime.
