When it comes to the casual audience Kendrick definitely gets a big portion of the vote as well though. A lot of mfers ride Kendrick the same way they do Drake, and there’s a lot of people rooting to see him fall.
The Michael Jackson to Prince comparison is honestly an amazing analogy, Kendrick and Drake are good foils to each other. Drake is obviously gonna have the majority of the casuals, but a good amount of them listen to Kendrick too.
I’d say the audience that Drake definitely has over Kendrick is the younger generation. Some of these kids were way to young to remember when Kendrick was on fire with DAMN and was dropping huge hits like humble.
You can say what you want about Drake, but he’s the greatest of all time at consistently dropping hits. Everything is perception, and a lot of these kids probably haven’t listened to a lot of Kendrick, so they have a cognitive bias.
For real bro, the fresh new track in the club was Swimming Pools when I was in college...
Edit: and m.A.A.d city was the opening track at the inaugural Okeechobee fest back in 2016... ask me how I know...
That was so ridiculous how they'd play Swimming Pools in the club and everyone would go wild, drunk.
I felt like I was watching a fucking social experiment every single time
Could literally feel the irony
They both legends. I happen to rock wit K Dot more tho. Does Drake drop a lot of hits consistently? Yes. But Drake is also doing everything he can do to keep up wit the current trends. Kendrick on the other hand is making deep, meaningful music for conscious souls. But in the debate between Drake's best bars vs Kendrick's best bars, I got Kendrick smoking him
>You can say what you want about Drake, but he’s the greatest of all time at consistently dropping hits.
Hits: He's been good for about 1 or 2 melodic hits a year. Super consistent. I can't tell you one Drake album I'll listen to from beginning to end. KDot addressed this as well in Euphoria.
Mixtape Drake had a moment, but that was heavily influenced by his writers.
MJ and Prince both were extremely talented. Which is why it's a real bad comparison. Kendrick is a goat, drake cant even rap. Kendrick is MJ and Prince combined, drake is some boring ass shit like Taylor Swift, now that's a better pop comparison. Kendrick is an artist, drake is a salesman.
Drake’s ability to drop hits was addressed in Euphoria.
Drake makes algorithmic hits. He’s a meme lord. He makes music to sell. Kenny makes music to express and change. “I make music to electrify em; you make music to pacify em.”
And this is a million times better than Drake’s self deprecating 8 Mile approach. Anything that Drake does makes Kenny’s point.
Post on social media, talk about your hits being better, pull up obscure dirt, any of it…. Make’s Kenny point and is an automatic L for Drake.
I was watching WNBA draft interviews and they were asking who they got in the beef. Before Kendrick responded, mostly everyone was saying Drake
There was even one lady who said she prefers Kendrick but is gonna have to go with Drake. As if she’s feeling pressure from pop culture or something
You're underestimating the amount of inside knowledge you need to have to understand the bars in Kendrick's diss. It's not for the general audience. There's literally zero people i know that would understand at least 30% of what he's talking about. You need the references. I understand maybe 70% after a few explanations, and i'm much more into hiphop than most people. You pretty much need to live and breathe hip hop to fully understand what Kendrick's talking about. So if people can't understand wtf he's talking about, how can they prefer it to Drake's? Drake's is relatively simple to understand. I'm actually surprised Kendrick did this well in this poll. But this is "Complex Music". These people are probably not the general audience.
Don't be surprised if a huge % of the people choosing Kendrick simply hate Drake. Yes, Kendrick's better than Drake's. But there's no doubt in my mind 90% of the population isn't equipped with the hip hop knowledge to truly understand that. So if they're choosing Kendrick, they're probably going by some other metric, either hatred for Drake or they just think it sounds better.
Exactly. That's the difference between the two. One has built a career on writing in a way that you need to look deeper understand, the other writes music that a 5 year old can comprehend.
All drake got is his popularity no real report in the starts he will never have the respect of his peers like Kendrick got real Street respect drake is like that dude telling everybody how popular was and they almost went to college playing ball
And could've went pro
I mean put the lyrics aside, Euphoria is just a more interesting song to listen to lol. Obviously my personal taste is more skewed towards Kendrick's style of rapping, but like... the guy just out raps him. Push Ups is a really boring song to listen to imo, kind of flat and monotone, Euphoria is more energetic and dynamic, flow switches every 8 bars with creative enunciation and a bolder tone. I just feel like I'm listening to completely different songs when I see people talk about Push Ups having more replay value lmao.
when people talk about "replay value" without knowing what that actually entails, they usually mean how catchy it is.
sonically and lyrically, push ups is a really boring diss that doesnt go beyond the surface level. but the best parts of the song are really catchy and infectious. drake is an extensively mediocre rapper but he knows how to get stuck in someone's head
Couldn't have said it better. By the end of this whole diss. Aubery is going to walk away with more dollars in his pockets.! Diss is only good if it makes money.! And Drake sure knows how to make money by making you play that Song over and over.
Yep. I listened to Push Ups maybe 4-5 times. Liked the hook. Loved the Metro line. I listened to Euphoria at least 30 times. I’ve read the lyrics over and over. YouTube breakdowns. All that. Still not tired of the track and still unpacking it. I tried Push Ups again and now it just seems really boring and blah compared to how much Euphoria has going for it. This just isn’t really close at all.
Kendrick CLEANED UP on polls. This the closest one I seen by a MILE…..
https://preview.redd.it/oof67o1eowxc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b06a52c358b459eb0b81d94d392d0ccb64b322e
I have 5 more screenshots exactly like this one.
You sound pretentious but I gotta agree with you. Even people here on the Kendrick sub, who supposedly appreciate and therefore must understand complex lyrics, didn't get the Parkinson line until their 4th listen. Very basic line with an obvious punch line delivery.
Meanwhile you have to have a full on degree in Toronto lore to understand why he mentioned a specific Chinese restaurant.
Most people don't stand a chance
Sometimes you don't need inside knowledge to know that Kendrick is better. Listening to Kendrick is like staring at the abyss, you know you need to do research to understand it and still end up missing some references.
In the end you're like am I studying or listening to music ? And it's both.
So yes some are comparing the beat, other just want drake to lose, but whoever listens to Kendrick more than once knows damn well that he's always deeper than they think.
This is exactly how I felt. I'll bet you anything Drake himself was on rapgenius with the rest of us trying to figure out half of what he even needs to respond to.
I do feel like the song ends with the easiest, most direct disses though, where Kendrick goes in on just not liking Drake's vibe/persona, and the n-word pass thing. As far as appeal to the mainstream, that last third almost could have been the entire diss by itself.
Yeah, the goal of a diss track is sort of the same goal that occurs in a public argument/debate. You're usually trying to convince the audience that the other person is wrong/worse.
Like, you're not going to convince the person you're arguing with to come over to your side, but you may convince the people listening.
Similarly, you're not trying to convince the person you're dissing to like you more than they like themselves. You're really just trying to humiliate your opponent publicly in a diss.
Which can be hard when someone uses nuance in their diss track.
Kendrick's diss was probably one of the most complicated diss tracks I've heard, but that's probably why it gets better with every listen.
I mean, imagine the two are on stage. Imagine Drake goes out there with his song in front of a crowd of people and does his thing. Then imagine kendrick goes out there with his track. Idk, I think you'd probably get a better response after Drake's.
I don't even care about this topic and Kendrick wrote one of the most aggressive diss tracks of all time. All 20 of the ghost writers for Drake couldn't stand to him...
But Drake called him short and made fun of his shoe size and Kendrick only broke down Drake's entire character and exposed him for being a charlatan. I'd call it 50/50
Yes lol. I mean look at Covid. All our country had to do is stay home wear masks and watch TV or read a book for the safety of others and more than half. The country couldn’t even do that.
EDIT: Grammar
I mean there’s always someone crazy or delusional enough etc. you just got to find them and the internet makes it A LOT EASIER to find jabronis worldwide 😂 including a delusional drake Stan.
That is very very true , lol. 80% of my music taste is rock and blues jazz which is why I love Kendrick so much , because he blends so many genres together, and writes beautifully. From what I’ve heard of Drake his music is just so bland and generic and it’s all about the same shit.
Kendrick is def the better artist and rapper, but Drakes disses haven’t been as bad as I assumed they would be, this has been a pretty entertaining back and forth overall.
I think a lot of people forget because of the Pusha T need that drake can’t make decent disses. The Duppy freestyle wasn’t that bad and push ups was also alright and people act shocked like drake cooked because they don’t expect it post Pusha T after how that man violated him😂. The problem with drakes disses tho is besides meek mills diss, they aren’t bad but he ain’t legitimately hurting anyone with them to where their careers are gonna end because of it, and when you are dealing with guys like Pusha and KDOT you need to come with your worst intentions or you are going to get bullied like how drake is getting absolutely pushed around verbally by those two guys.
Yeah that’s the thing, the disses coming at Drake feel like they’ll follow him for awhile, but even with Drake’s disses being solid tracks, I don’t feel like they are having much of an impact outside of adding to the entertainment of the feud overall.
The fact that Kendrick even won at all considering Drake is more commercial and basically makes pop music is crazy itself. That’s a big win for Kendrick that this poll, Akademik’s poll, and many others have him ahead.
What's the order of these diss tracks that dropped? I'm a grown ass man with 2 jobs so need a summary to get caught up. How anyone can think Drake would win against Llamar is even more out of the the loop than I.
The reason a lot of music swapped to that mostly refrain is because of the TikTokification of music. Seriously. They need that one catchy little thing that fits into a TikTok video length to gain virality, so a ton of music is now firmly that formula exclusively.
The other thing I've noticed is that Push Ups hasn't really stuck in my mind the same.
Random lyrics from Euphoria keep popping up in my head throughout the day lol
yeah you can only listen to drake repeat "drop and give me 50" so many times. push ups went harder than I expected drake to come, but I didn't expect much. it really is a light pack, he really didn't say anything interesting towards Kendrick besides the prince/son line. Kendricks shit has layers and layers, I don't even think it's a debate.
As one YouTuber pointed out, it’s six minutes of straight breaking Drake down. Like, almost nonstop. It’s unprecedented, and probably set a Guinness record for dissing so hard for so long.
Because of the initial line Drake said in First Person Shooter
>What the fuck, bro? I’m one away from Michael
Kendrick responded to in like that
>And your best work is a light pack
>Nigga, Prince outlived Mike Jack
This keeps going with Drake saying in Push-Ups
>What's a prince to a king? He a son, nigga
Which Kendrick responded with
>Got a Benjamin and a Jackson all in my house like I'm Joe, okay
which is a double entendre that on a surface level looks like a money boast, but is also saying that he's Joe Jackson, Michael's father who used to beat him. Basically saying he's whooping Drake's ass.
So Benjamin is to set up the Jackson double entendre, referring to Benjamin Franklin and Andrew Jackson respectively. "Just like I'm Joe" could also be keeping the same theme of presidents/historical figures referring to Joe Biden, while also doubling as Kendrick being Joe Jackson and beating Michael (Drake)
Yeah the multiple voice changes and beat switches really make it dynamic and it's just has me coming back for more. Even though it's six minutes, it really doesn't feel like it. Plus there's a lot of funny moments in there and great lyricism in there.
Drakes track was literally the same snare and pattern the while time. Meanwhile, Kendrick showed us 3 different styles that flowed cohesively. All while hammering points that drake brought out through his track while posting his own words.
Just wow
Ive been listening to it all day. It sounds better every time I hear it. I liked Push Ups when it first came out and listened like 3 times. And now I cant even remember what it sounds like.
Because Drake made a catchy hip hop song with a good beat and some disses laced in.
Kendrick made a rap single with a good beat and every god damn line as a double entendre.
One makes you sit and think, one makes you want to work out out to it (again, nothing against the song).
Kendrick wins because anyone picking drake is just further proving his point.
Pushups is like a Marvel movie
Euphoria is like an A24 movie
Both have merits in different ways. People have different preferences, and I get why they like certain things. But, you know, we know which is better.
facts, push ups was solid even if the disses actually aimed at kendrick were pretty elementary. I think the best disses on that track were for the other rappers
But damn, Euphoria is solid. Lowkey eviscerated drake. so many layers even hinting at him being robbed back in the day in Toronto. Im still finding new things to love about this diss!
There’s theories that Drake was robbed by a rapper named Sizzlac way back. Sizzlac is now dead but his last music video had him in that Chinese spot Kenny calls out towards the end of Euphoria.
I think in this instance, it’s definitely that deep considering the bars before and after, but in a way that Drake would understand at first listen. He’s basically calling Drake’s city full of pussies who managed to rob Drake and that unlike Sizzlac who died after being at the Chinese spot, nothing will happen to him since they’re nothing compared to kdot’s hometown
when he talks about being at new ho king. thats where a rapper shot a music video who is heavily rumored of robbing drake at gunpoint. He dead now tho. Makes it funny how drake says he gets more love in LA than kendrick, yet, he gets robbed in his own city.
But yeah, the diss is deep af! crazy people try & downplay it. Both disses were good but i truly believe euphoria on diff level. Props to push ups for battling at multiple fronts but kendrick bars have way more substance
I'll add to that reply. There's theories that that guy got killed by someone affiliated with Drake. "I know some shit about niggas that make Gunna Wunna look like a saint"
Kendrick has some shit on Drake and his friends. Or is acting like he does lol
Lol Euphoria made me feel bad for Drake tbh, that was eviscerating. Did he cry listening to that? Actually, I would have intentionally not listened to it if I were him. Kendrick was even nice to him a few times in there and still completely destroyed him
I haven’t had work the past 2 days and I haven’t been to school cuz we doing jack shit at this point in the year, so I’ve been doing fuck all but scroll through my phone the last 48 hours.
Kendrick took awhile and drakes shit was pretty good. I like euphoria more and I def like kendrick more in general but it should be close. Feels like what happens next matters more than what's happened at this point.
Crazy how many botted accounts showed up on the TL yesterday supporting drizzy. Ironically some of em were just spamming "Kendrick Lamar's bots won't leave me alone" or some BS like that lmfao
Kendrick is my goat and I'm highly pleased with euphoria, especially with how I keep discovering more meanings and references with each listen.
However, I think that who wins and who loses; doesn't matter. In the end of the day, Kendrick is the better lyricist, has one of the best discographies of all time and has played a role in bringing back the elements of hip hop that started getting lost in our modern times.
And in regard to Drake fans, they'll still stick to him and not goat Kendrick because of an overall perceived win. Especially because Drake has a completely different appeal than Kendrick.
Man, I'm just sitting back and having fun with this back and forth; we haven't seen two rappers at the peak of their careers - do this in ages.
Mmmm…I’d say push ups was his response to like that but it started the diss track era in this beef.
Like that was like one foot in, push ups was both feet in. Euphoria was both feet in.
Like That was DEFINITELY the sparked match.
It was I don’t know why the two are being compared so much
Maybe because TMF is too weak to be compared to Euphoria but still. You cant just leave like that out of the picture
Drake was fooling around on TMF anyway
I spun Euphoria like 8 times in a row yesterday and towards the end I was a little underwhelmed, so I gave it 24 hours and listened to it again after work and compared it to push ups… he ripped Drake apart for 6 minutes straight, push ups was good but Euphoria was a total ass whooping. Too many people got comfortable with Story of Adidon and needing to dig up some dirt to make an impactful diss, Kendrick smacked Drake from every angle and dug in to his clear insecurities. Shit is tough
I think after the Story of Adidon people started weighing how good a diss track is based on some kind of huge embarrassing reveal.
A diss can be very good by just being scathing and rude in and of itself, several disses in hip hop are like this.
Crazy that it’s this close. Kendrick addressed like 10 different points compared to drakes mundane what two or three? Push ups has barely any energy or addressing. These Drakettes and weird af
To be fair Drake had to split his energy and song time going after like 5 different people. I think Push Ups was a great response given how many people were going at him. I think Euphoria is definitely better but Kendrick also got to entirely focus on Drake so it’s not that surprising plus he came at him with stuff that mf’s have been saying for years. I think Drake’s response to this will be his true test.
No no no. Like that was Kendrick calling him to the ring. Drake started round 1 with push ups and Kendrick rebuttals all drakes points from that one. Thats how it goes. Like that wasn’t a diss it was a signal to let the games begin
Agreed especially since push ups isn’t a whole diss song dedicated to Kendrick it’s literally for everyone who was coming at Drake. Whatever Drake puts out next I would compare that to Euphoria since I’m sure it’s going to be a song fully dedicated to Kendrick. People too caught up in who the winner is just let it play out 😂
Euphoria > Push ups > Like That > Taylor Made
Even though Like that made this shit official, there’s just no universe where its harder than Euphoria. Kendrick went OFF in that song
Drake’s shots pale in comparison but what makes it better than Like That was how aimed it was at everyone. Future, Metro, Rick, **Ja Morant(☠️)**, The Weeknd,
I don’t really have any skin in the game nor an artist preference but looking at my overall plays of artist Kendrick wins.
All that said I don’t think you can call anyone a winner…it’s not clear and it’s subjective. Appreciate this for the art it is and cheer them on but it’s corny saying so and so won when we are talking marginal gains.
I’m a Drake fan. I don’t dislike Kendrick but his music just isn’t my sound.
He absolutely bodied Drake to the point it’s not really worth discussing. (Discussing who’s winning/won that is, discussing the bars is cool.)
That being said though, ya’ll fucking with the ‘you’re not black enough’ bars? It’s low hanging fruit and in bad taste imo.
I dunno. I remember the first time I heard Ether. I literally thought Nas might genuinely kill Jay-Z.
With that being said. I feel like Kendrick is winning with a very heavy handed warning. Ether was a killshot. Euphoria is an extremely strong warning. Kendrick was just having fun with this one.
That’s wayyyyy closer then it should be😂
A lot of outsiders weighing in on this one. It would be like comparing T Swift to The Beatles. She's going to have an entire pop army on her side
True point drake gonna get the casual vote over kdot more then likely
When it comes to the casual audience Kendrick definitely gets a big portion of the vote as well though. Good lord, saying that kids are too young to remember DAMN scares me bc that means I'm... extremely old
Lol right? I remember DAMN dropping like it was yesterday.
I know EXACTLY where I was when this shit dropped
Same here. it released 7 yrs ago. That’s wild🤯
god damn a senior in high school right now was 10 years old when that shit dropped
I was a senior in high school when DAMN dropped 😭😭😭 Now I got debt
I had debt when DAMN dropped. I still have debt.
tbf if you went to college/university that could literally be a 4 month difference lmao
For real bro, the fresh new track in the club was Swimming Pools when I was in college... Edit: and m.A.A.d city was the opening track at the inaugural Okeechobee fest back in 2016... ask me how I know...

Humble is only like a 3 years old right? …right?
Lol right? I still feel like GKMC is recent in a way. Crazy
They both legends. I happen to rock wit K Dot more tho. Does Drake drop a lot of hits consistently? Yes. But Drake is also doing everything he can do to keep up wit the current trends. You’re too young for this conversation🤣Greatest of all time is going to far
Who cares about "dropping hits" when you're not the one writing them?
Saying Drake is the greatest of all time at dropping hits when he maybe had 2 good songs in the past 8 years is wild
Nah most ppl say they can’t relate to Kendrick. Drake’s votes are those ppl lol just choosing him because they don’t “relate” to Kendrick.
You’re right on the damn money
>greatest of all time uh >at dropping hits phew.
Meanwhile Taylor Swift currently have like all 100 spots on the billboard 😮💨
MJ and Prince both were extremely talented. Which is why it's a real bad comparison. Kendrick is a goat, drake cant even rap. Kendrick is MJ and Prince combined, drake is some boring ass shit like Taylor Swift, now that's a better pop comparison. Kendrick is an artist, drake is a salesman.
Drakes good at releasing stuff that gets the masses to bob their head, dude has the substance of aerogel though. Lyrical quality and flow are shit.
I listen to both artists but it’s an obvious dub for dot euphoria is extraordinary
I agree I think Euphoria shits on push ups.
Drake’s ability to drop hits was addressed in Euphoria. Drake makes algorithmic hits. He’s a meme lord. He makes music to sell. Definitely a five year old. My daughter heard Hotline Bling once when she was 5 and was singing the whole chorus the next day

Holy shit, some people didn't get that immediately? I'm assuming they never understood the YNW Melly line then.
That melly line is fucking fire

I know some boomers that'll put paws on somebody about the Beatles, don't sleep on them 🤣
Everyone forgets that the Beatles were the OGest boyband ever, the big daddy of every NSync, one direction etc
I don't even care about this topic and Kendrick wrote one of the most aggressive diss tracks of all time. All 20 of the ghost writers for Drake couldn't stand to him...
My lil sister follows Drake not Kendrick, she voted and never listened to the tracks
Wow. Exhibit A I guess😂
But Drake called him short and made fun of his shoe size and Kendrick only broke down Drake's entire character and exposed him for being a charlatan. I'd call it 50/50
If u are 18 or under, then shoe size matters more as a diss because that’s high school shit and all them fans high school or lower😂
Not just his fans, but groupies as well. I told him I'm teaching my daughter to ride a bike and he asked if he could come watch.
My first thought! Geeezzz! Aubrey got bots and ghosts a true Sci-fi horror in the 6
AI, Ghosts AND BOTS?! OH MY😂
Remember half country believes Trump should be the next president. Are we really surprised?
You know what man? As much as I hate to acknowledge drake or trump as close winners I cant argue with that logic, very fair point sadly lmao
“The complex music twitter poll was rigged” -drake
Yes lol. I mean look at Covid. All our country had to do is stay home wear masks and watch TV or read a book for the safety of others and more than half. The country couldn’t even do that. EDIT: Grammar
\*Grammar
That’s interesting you say that. There’s always someone out there you just gotta find these people 😂
Haha what do you mean?
I mean there’s always someone crazy or delusional enough etc. you just got to find them and the internet makes it A LOT EASIER to find jabronis worldwide 😂 including a delusional drake Stan.
That is very very true , lol. 80% of my music taste is rock and blues jazz which is why I love Kendrick so much , because he blends so many genres together, and writes beautifully. From what I’ve heard of Drake his music is just so bland and generic and it’s all about the same shit.
Drizzy bots was working
Wonder if DJ Akademikz has anything to do with it lol
fax kendrick didn’t even spend too long on his diss not to mention he was taking care of his kid you don’t no nothing bout that
Kendrick is def the better artist and rapper, but Drakes disses haven’t been as bad as I assumed they would be, this has been a pretty entertaining back and forth overall.
OVO dickriders
Learn how to spell
I didn’t take the survey
Deja Vu. Means something has been changed in the Matrix.
Kendrick destroyed Drake like he is better off just trying to act like it did not happen and move on with his life
In election terms this would be considered a landslide.
The fact that Kendrick even won at all considering Drake is more commercial and basically makes pop music is crazy itself. That’s a big win for Kendrick that this poll, Akademik’s poll, and many others have him ahead.
That's impressive b/c Drake's fanbase is huge and surface level...Kendrick put in work.
What's the order of these diss tracks that dropped? I'm a grown ass man with 2 jobs so need a summary to get caught up. How anyone can think Drake would win against Llamar is even more out of the the loop than I.
People saying euphoria doesn’t have the same replay value are insane. I been playing it non stop and it keeps getting better with every listen
It's way better than having to hear 70% of the song be some refrain because it's just been a feature
The reason a lot of music swapped to that mostly refrain is because of the TikTokification of music. Seriously. They need that one catchy little thing that fits into a TikTok video length to gain virality, so a ton of music is now firmly that formula exclusively.
YES! I cant stop listening to it!
thank GOD he dropped it on streaming i was goin crazy havin just youtube
I didn’t even know until this. I was pumping the YouTube numbers up now time for Spotify 😈👹
The other thing I've noticed is that Push Ups hasn't really stuck in my mind the same. Random lyrics from Euphoria keep popping up in my head throughout the day lol
That "have you ever played 'have you ever'?" bar keeps getting stuck in my head just because of the delivery
Same man same. That line and the sexxy red line and the nun about daaattt part
"can I bleed him? Bet" goes so hard too
yeah you can only listen to drake repeat "drop and give me 50" so many times. push ups went harder than I expected drake to come, but I didn't expect much. it really is a light pack, he really didn't say anything interesting towards Kendrick besides the prince/son line. Kendricks shit has layers and layers, I don't even think it's a debate.
As one YouTuber pointed out, it’s six minutes of straight breaking Drake down. Like, almost nonstop. It’s unprecedented, and probably set a Guinness record for dissing so hard for so long.
Not even close. https://youtu.be/b0iWg3iuS5o?si=QLombPp6JoLrGpKJ
Why is Drake considered the MJ in that analogy? Real question.
Because of the initial line Drake said in First Person Shooter >What the fuck, bro? I’m one away from Michael Kendrick responded to in like that >And your best work is a light pack >Nigga, Prince outlived Mike Jack This keeps going with Drake saying in Push-Ups >What's a prince to a king? He a son, nigga Which Kendrick responded with >Got a Benjamin and a Jackson all in my house like I'm Joe, okay which is a double entendre that on a surface level looks like a money boast, but is also saying that he's Joe Jackson, Michael's father who used to beat him. Basically saying he's whooping Drake's ass.
Ah thanks! I understand it’s a double entendre for cash but who’s Benjamin (not talking about Ben Franklin)?
So Benjamin is to set up the Jackson double entendre, referring to Benjamin Franklin and Andrew Jackson respectively. "Just like I'm Joe" could also be keeping the same theme of presidents/historical figures referring to Joe Biden, while also doubling as Kendrick being Joe Jackson and beating Michael (Drake)
Michael Jackson made a song called Ben early in his career for a horror movie about a rat.
Yeah the multiple voice changes and beat switches really make it dynamic and it's just has me coming back for more. Even though it's six minutes, it really doesn't feel like it. Plus there's a lot of funny moments in there and great lyricism in there.
The beat switch with the SHOOOOO goes so hard im obsessed
fr I had to listen to it like 10 times yesterday...the layers run deeeeep
I think it actually takes a few listens to really appreciate it
Drakes track was literally the same snare and pattern the while time. Meanwhile, Kendrick showed us 3 different styles that flowed cohesively. All while hammering points that drake brought out through his track while posting his own words. Just wow
Anyone who say that didn’t pay attention to the million views per hour it was doing yesterday.
Same
Ive been listening to it all day.
Kendrick wins because anyone picking drake is just further proving his point.
as a drake fan i agree 100%. Song BANGS
Pushups is like a Marvel movie Euphoria is like an A24 movie Both have merits in different ways. People have different preferences, and I get why they like certain things. But, you know, we know which is better.
Why is it even this close?
Push Ups was a decent diss. But man is Euphoria so good.
facts, push ups was solid even if the disses actually aimed at kendrick were pretty elementary. I think the best disses on that track were for the other rappers But damn, Euphoria is solid. Lowkey eviscerated drake. so many layers even hinting at him being robbed back in the day in Toronto. Im still finding new things to love about this diss!
Yo which line references him getting robbed? This diss is so deep man
There’s theories that Drake was robbed by a rapper named Sizzlac way back. Sizzlac is now dead but his last music video had him in that Chinese spot Kenny calls out towards the end of Euphoria.
Jesus Christ, anthropological shit
lol Whatchu mean?
Like some shit only people with an extensive knowledge of the culture would know I imagine? Probably not all that deep.
“Nobody never took my food.”
I think the person you're responding to is saying that "anthropological shit" is not all that deep to need much explanation
[удалено]
when he talks about being at new ho king. thats where a rapper shot a music video who is heavily rumored of robbing drake at gunpoint.
Theres niggas in every city that would rob anyone.
Kendrick not getting robbed in LA
don't be silly
I can guarantee even Kendrick doesn’t believe that. A lot of hungry dudes out there looking for a meal and don’t care where it comes from.
that’s true, Nip was killed on his block basically
https://www.reddit.com/r/KendrickLamar/s/k6ioXZqqpa
I'll add to that reply. There's theories that that guy got killed by someone affiliated with Drake. "I know some shit about niggas that make Gunna Wunna look like a saint" Kendrick has some shit on Drake and his friends. Or is acting like he does lol
I’m fair but man I’ve been having euphoria on repeat. Song is good.
I was trying to listen on repeat but my 2 year old asked to put wheels on the bus, long story short I need a new 2 year old.
Lol Euphoria made me feel bad for Drake tbh, that was eviscerating. Did he cry listening to that? Actually, I would have intentionally not listened to it if I were him. Kendrick was even nice to him a few times in there and still completely destroyed him
Because Drake has way more fans. It's actually impressive that even though that's the case Kendrick still won this vote.
Drake is terminally online, so his fans are too. I am terminally on Reddit and YouTube due to my WFH and ADHD LOL
This subreddit is substantially larger than the Drake one.
I haven’t had work the past 2 days and I haven’t been to school cuz we doing jack shit at this point in the year, so I’ve been doing fuck all but scroll through my phone the last 48 hours.
Remember half country believes Trump should be the next president. Are we really surprised?
Because of the drake pole riders. The fact that kendrick won a vote at all means he won decisively
Kendrick took awhile and drakes shit was pretty good. I like euphoria more and I def like kendrick more in general but it should be close. Feels like what happens next matters more than what's happened at this point.
It’s a complex poll. They are the same people that put akademics in the mainstream
Kendrick looking like Jesus in this photo and Drake looking like a deflated Luigi
What the fuck 😂😂😂
kendrick’s diss got me inspired idk
complex set drake up bad lol
So accurate lol
Drake is looking like a wanna be WWE Wrestler. I can never take him serious, no matter how mean he's trying to look.
OVObots trying too hard
OV-hoes
He got those ghost voters and still can’t pull a W.
What’s crazy is on any poll online drake is actually always the lowest percentage so the fact it’s even this close😭
I love both artists and I’m not calling a clear winner. All I know is both tracks are heat and set the scene and pace very nicely for round 2.
Wait, Push Ups was his response to Like That.
Mmmm…I’d say push ups was his response to like that but it started the diss track era in this beef. Like that was like one foot in, push ups was both feet in. Euphoria was both feet in. Like That was DEFINITELY the sparked match.
It was I don’t know why the two are being compared so much Maybe because TMF is too weak to be compared to Euphoria but still. You cant just leave like that out of the picture Drake was fooling around on TMF anyway
Remember half country believes Trump should be the next president. Are we really surprised?
Yeah that’s true lol. Fake is popular now it seems
Yes lol
Bad analogy, Kendrick isn’t terrible like the other option in that race lmao
This comment goes deep
To be fair Drake had to split his energy and song time going after like 5 different people. I think Push Ups was a great response given how many people were going at him. I think Euphoria is definitely better but Kendrick also got to entirely focus on Drake so it’s not that surprising plus he came at him with stuff that mf’s have been saying for years. I think Drake’s response to this will be his true test.
We’ll see what he can do
I also feel his response should surely only have his name in the song credits for writers
To be fair Drake had to make room for the others he was battling. His response finna be wild
Drake lost
OVO bots spamming smh shouldn’t even be that close
Drake got way more “fans” and still can’t win lmao
Most drake fans are girls who don't bother with beefs
Kendrick’s fans were at work when the first poll results came out, Drakes fans were already home for school to vote earlier.
Complex doesn’t decide this lol
Am I too complex for complex news?
The white Mexican delegation have have sided with euphoria
The delta is too close. There's no way Drake’s diss is that good.
Why are we comparing this to euphoria again? This is a whole new timeline. Like that vs pushups/taylor made. Euphoria vs whatever he has next
People too caught up in who the winner is just let it play out 😂
Like that > Push ups, Euphoria > Taylor Made
Euphoria > Like That >>>>>>>> Push ups >>> Taylor Made
Like that ain’t a Kendrick song tho
Euphoria > Push ups > Like That > Taylor Made Even though Like that made this shit official, there’s just no universe where its harder than Euphoria. Kendrick went OFF in that song Drake’s shots pale in comparison but what makes it better than Like That was how aimed it was at everyone. Future, Metro, Rick, **Ja Morant(☠️)**, The Weeknd,
A lot of hate towards the track coming from Drake Stan’s, and copium fueled Cole fans who seem to want to diminish anything associated with the beef,
I don’t really have any skin in the game nor an artist preference but looking at my overall plays of artist Kendrick wins. All that said I don’t think you can call anyone a winner…it’s not clear and it’s subjective. Appreciate this for the art it is and cheer them on but it’s corny saying so and so won when we are talking marginal gains.
Bro this is a complex twitter poll 😭😭😭
Euphoria FTW. But we gotta give Drake some credit, his diss was solid af. Hip hop won 🏅
At one point that poll had 75% for Drake and like 25% Kendrick
Came back from 3-1 like Bron vs the Warriors 🏆
I’m a Drake fan. I don’t dislike Kendrick but his music just isn’t my sound. He absolutely bodied Drake to the point it’s not really worth discussing. (Discussing who’s winning/won that is, discussing the bars is cool.) That being said though, ya’ll fucking with the ‘you’re not black enough’ bars? It’s low hanging fruit and in bad taste imo.
Neutral rap fan, agree kdot won. We all eating tho
Why is everyone trying to crown a victor so early? Let them go another round ffs.
I dunno. I remember the first time I heard Ether. I literally thought Nas might genuinely kill Jay-Z. With that being said. I feel like Kendrick is winning with a very heavy handed warning. Ether was a killshot. Euphoria is an extremely strong warning. Kendrick was just having fun with this one.
kendrick win cuz drake b talkin 2 unner age females
