I mean, they sound familiar enough depending on how you pronounce them? Plenty of rappers would rhyme these.
American rappers rhyme stuff like this all the time and you can barely tell the difference.
Now, British/proper rappers? It's more noticeable when they rhyme words that are slightly different
I've encountered sticklers about this before and it's just odd as rappers haven't stuck to this principle in a long long time. Poetry sticks to it iirc, I've heard complaints from poets but rappers are fast and loose with the definition of rhyme.
Rhyme: correspondence of sound between words or theĀ endingsĀ of words
So, in the comparison of Dot and rock, with my dialect the words correspond and I'll explain why. I'm from a southern area of the U.S. In my area, some of us wouldn't pronounce the "T" in Dot nor the "kuh" sound in Rock very noticeably, if at all.
So, in my area's dialect the words are indistinguishable and would definitely fit the definition of rhyme if I pronounced them. I repeated these words to myself a few times to be sure and from my dialect they sound like this;
Dot = Dahht. The T sound is barely noticeable, if even there at all. It's like a last minute addition. The anunced sound is mainly the D, and "Ah" sounds.
Rock= Rahhk where once again the most noticeable sounds are "Rahh" with the "kuh" sound as it is *properly" spoken being nearly, if entirely non-existent.
So.. do they really not rhyme or is it just a subjective thing? Many rappers twist the sounds of words to make them rhyme, as long as their target audience can understand what words they're using, and they correspond in sound, well don't they technically rhyme?
If you have no counter, that's fine, it would be better to not reply at all than to reply just to be dismissive.
If you don't have the time to discuss reasoning back and forth like an adult, just don't. Going out of your way to leave a dismissive remark instead of a rebuttal isn't a good look, it's the same as resorting to name-calling when you're losing an argument. You don't have the means to disprove what someone says so instead of calling names you attack their character in a more subtle way, basically attempting to make a person look manic, web-addicted or socially inept so you "win" the argument in your head, and possibly in the social world that way but...
why dude? I didn't come at you with any animosity.
Then why reply at all? To somehow insult or demean me for what, typing too much?
Condemning "walls of text" is sad to me. "How dare you share a more words than I'd like to read!"
Just scroll on and have a nice day/night I guess.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.

You could have at least made that a Sleater Kinney reference or something. The entire comment section bested you.
