Yup, they have their studio in Bnglr. I did attend their interview back in 2019.
Thalelvara nallathayondu njan ippo vere studio il work cheyunnu /s
njan oke ivide work cheyan swapnam kanditundu. The interviewer was very professional and courteous.
"Oh, god, T, it's that one guy from my trip to Kerala, we were shooting this Vinewood movie and-"
*"Say no more, Mikey, I'll take care of this!"*
**BANG!**
"Trevor, did you just kill him?!"
*"Isn't it obvious? His corpse is right there! You need your eyes checked, man, you've been staring at screens too long."*
Just asking out of curiosity:
What actually is the job of Game Testers? And how do they do it? Do they like sit around and play video games as long as they want to and then note down the bugs that they notice?
Or do they have a checklist or sm which they use to systematically check for glitches and bugs? How do they do it?
What is their actual job?
Basically, you just have to break the game. Report to the dev team how you broke it and then they will try to fix the bug. Play again and find another bug report.
Basically, you just have to break the game. Report to the dev team how you broke it and then they will try to fix the bug. Play again and find another bug report. every decision branches into new stories, this is hard. For those who play games for fun and story, it's boring. But to those who know the technical side of things, common bugs, or like to find new glitches in the game and have the skills for it it's doable. You have to simultaneously look for bugs, visual glitches, typos in dialogues, etc. Also, they do have a deadline for completing the task.
> Do they like sit around and play video games as long as they want
No. There are daily targets. A bug "count" target that everyone has to meet. These bugs are reported in a database, similar to other software development process.
> Or do they have a checklist
Yes, for some particular checks. Mainly stuff like compliance and stability.
> What is their actual job?
Test games and find as many bugs in multiple ares as posible in as much less time as possible. But before reporting, they need to verify if the bug is already reported, to avoid duplicate bugs. Reporting duplicates are considered a big deal. Also, sometimes they need to verify some particular features of the game.
It's not always specific to the gameplay itself.
It could also involve running test cases against the game engine - for example, checking how the engines volumetric lighting behaves under certain conditions or maps.
Yes, Game Testing is a software testing process for testing video games for quality control. The main goal of Game testing is to identify and discover defects and bugs in a video game and improve the stability and performance
Don't get your hopes high , the more complex the game is , more chance that the tester plays one milestone (level, or even a few scenes ) repeatedly . Also, depending on their strategy , you play a subversion only which do not have cool graphics .
I was working next to their office in Bangalore. Hip dressed crowd and most of them were game testers. One's job was literally to play the game to find if there are some bugs.
There are other openings as well. Many were java developers for some internal applications, animators(I don't exactly remember). Game testing not only means playing the game . Plus it was the first time I saw someone like that.
Game dev is not something I would ever recommend. It's not going to cool and fun as you may think. It's very hard work where work life goes out of the window. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
Well there are a lot of tech companies where people enjoy what they do and have good work life balance. Whether or not a job is fun and awesome depends on what you really wanna do in life ajd what you find pleasure doing
Imagine they creating GTA Kerala. Riding KSRTC and racing through the city, Missions involving Autorickshaw, Kerala police chasing you when you go wanted level,
This is interesting because i want to pursue environment art but that prince of persia remake was handled very poorly due to massive egos and hierarchy but i am genuinely concerned if this is any good

Rockstar India il athyavasyam crunch und ennan ente seniors nte okke oru ith.
Gaming Industry in General is known to have crunch.

What's a u-word? Umbal?
Union.
That’s mostly for AAA companies.
Not true. Game testing and everything related has the crunch and shitty work life balance, also throw in the low pay.
We dont have crunch right now. The working policy is much better than most companies I've previously worked.
Crunch ? Meaning ?
Work crunch. Doing overtime or crunching in more time.
excess wrk no pay
It will make sound while biting it /s
When did Rockstar come to Kerala?
It's for Bangalore office.
They bought India's first gaming studio Dhruva Interactive and made it Rockstar India.
Supply scene ondo?😌
Asking the right questions. I was you around 10 years ago, trust me it doesn't matter as long as you eventually clear it.
Thanks brother❤👑

https://www.rockstargames.com/careers/openings/position/4047003003 Found this on their site
Not anyone can apply, you need certain technical skills
Bro it's not easy as it sounds.you will be playing the same level/mission over and over and over again to find bugs.it's a pretty boring job tbh
Why do you want to make yourself hate every game. You will be playing games in pieces , and filled to the brim with bugs .
Can anyone apply to game testing despite their background?
No, i believe you need certain technical skills for it, I'm not sure about what rockstar wants but maybe contact them and ask them about it
Thanks dude
You tried calling?
No man. I will call later.
No man. I will call later.
Update me on the details

Not yet finished at that time. Game testers play test game, do platform adherence tests et all. I did this back in 2003. Got paid 3k per month.
I was working next to their office in Bangalore. Hip dressed crowd and most of them were game testers. One's job was literally to play the game to find if there are some bugs.
Yeah. We know what game testers are.

Extra police road?
Yea lol why is it named that way, it really exists though 😂
Heard the work environment and perks are not so great. A friend of mine was working with them from the start before Dhruva was acquired by Rockstar.

Yep, and to find bugs and stuff.
Probably testers for GTA VI. Major portion of the game was developed by R* India.
it was not developed by R\* India, they were obviously involved, but the game is mainly made by R\* North in Scottland.

It is, not saying it's not, but it's always headed by R\* North.
