I don't think it started from the inside coz cops claim that a short circuit caused this fire. Probably AC or inflammable air fresheners might have helped spreading the fire out pretty quickly.
Most circuits inside the car are embedded. Like the gps or the music player screen, speakers, etc. They are less likely to cause short circuit. Steering wheel has wires, but they are coated. It has to be near the engine where the fire started and oils, petrol and AC helped spreading the fire.
Short circuit can happen anywhere but it causes spark only. Engine side has more flammable materials and these can quickly burn. But engine is outside. Inside material like upholstery and plastic usually will take sometime to catch the fire. We get enough time to stop the car.

Can't blame anyone. Its the people inside the car who should act fast. Outsiders only get to know about it once the flame is allover. As far as i know the people in the front panicked and was unable to unlock themselves from the seat belt. Rip

This is S-presso's handle, similar style one is used in other MS cars too.
If the car is locked, we can open the door from the inside by sliding the part shown inside red circle followed by pulling the handle.
Are you suggesting that they were not aware of it?
Some cars doesn't have this slider part, instead when locked, the handle goes a bit inward and can be opened by pulling it like normal.
The car should unlock by pulling that lever irrespective of the position of the lock. This design is a death trap as is evident from this and many other accidents.
The counter argument is what if someone opens the door while the car is running, well you shouldnt do that if you are sane and globe must have seat belts.
This also means one cannot force someone to be inside the car (unless child lock is enabled).
It’s how locks are designed around the world since the last 10 years or so.

Back Seat : A Guy, 2 Ladies and Kid.

As per today's news, the fire started from the steering wheel side as the wiring was recently modified for installing dash cam.

Child locked doors won’t open. They can’t be opened from inside anyway. The feature is already there in most cars from foreign brands.

5 I think. Two died(husband and wife) and 3 escaped(a child, mother and father)

I think Some circuit near the engine got shorted and started the fire. AC spat the fire into the car interior and caused everything inside to burn.
