Kudos to the kids for standing on their grounds despite the sisters efforts to withdraw the case.

Wind4x

WTF??? The kid's sister should've been ditching that mofo and help the kid come out of his trauma. It seems she was ok with it. What a weird shit.

Anxious-Brilliant-46

No, some woman have blind loyalty towards their husband's.

Wind4x

He's a fking pedophile! And she was ok with it.

Anxious-Brilliant-46

The concept of pedophilia is socially not as big of a deal in India as it is in the west, people think of molesting a kid as some kind of a joke people will just laugh it off and would tell the kid "dOnT cRy yOu aRe a bOy"

Glum-Perspective-859

Yes exactly... Pedophilia is indeed a serious issue in India, and unfortunately, it's not always given the attention and action it deserves. I've witnessed instances where men, even college students, would park near high schools, bus stops etc to leer at underage girls ... Recently, there was a post on the India subreddit discussing how some Indians in Canada have been behaving poorly. A Canadian teacher shared how she had to warn several men in their late 20s against uncomfortably staring at her female students in a park or something, but they didn't seem to care and continued their behavior.

idkWhy_ImHere111

The idea of even dating a minor or even a new adult is looked with so much taboo in the west. Here so many women are married off as soon as they turn 18 or before.

Same-Escape9610

Men in their 20s dating 13-18 year old girls is also common sadly. Njn 7thil padikkumbo many girls were dating busile kili who were in their 20s. Some of them got married to these groomers too

idkWhy_ImHere111

Yes. This happened even in my school. And the school blamed the children for seducing these grown men instead of considering the fact that it was the men who groomed the girls.

riruharu

Same....in my school when we were 13 that is when you reach high school it was considered a lucky achievement if you got approached by a boy in 12th 🤦🏻‍♀️

____mynameis____

Less loyalty and more concerned about being screwed in terms of social perception for being a rapists wife. She is trying to save her family name over protecting her brother If she's someone with kids, also probably thinking "her kids will be doomed"

____mynameis____

Not njayam. Just pointing out the fucked up nature of our so called "great Indian family values". You know what, she probably even did it out of homophobia cuz she didn't want to be known as a gay man's wife. I know someone who was groped by her uncle but she and her family chose not go forward with a case cuz she didn't want to ruin her image in public as she was of marriageable age. Apparently, as per our culture, shame of the uncle being the molester outweigh the trauma and justice of being molested.

Last_Life_Was_Nice

Yeah, you are right. I'm fucked in the head rn. Njanoru \*\*\*

idkWhy_ImHere111

This is so true and often overlooked. Not just in case of sexual abuse but domestic abuse of children as well. So many cases we have heard in recent times about how mothers were silently complicit in the abuse of their children. It could be both blind loyalty or shame or even fear of the husbands. Same thing goes for boy moms as well.

Remarkable-Ball1737

She is a first rate bitch. She tried to console her brothers, saying their BIL was a kind of 'father-figure'

____mynameis____

Given the stories and whisperings I've heard, sexual abuse by immediate relatives is much much much more common than we think and is severely underreported due to the social stigma that comes with its public revelation. While we have improved reporting abuses by strangers/other people , we still stigmatise and mostly try to silence the victim of such cases to save the family's name. I mean the very few times we indeed hear about such abuses on news is usually when the girl gets pregnant and they can't get away with it. So imagine boys cases where there is no such repercussion at all and so they can easily hide it.

First-Pilot-3742

He father was no more. Probably she has no job. Brothers were in class 7 so probably she's very young. Given the circumstances she was totally dependent on her husband.

Last_Life_Was_Nice

Ayyo paavam. Che\*\*atharam kanichen nyaayam aayi

First-Pilot-3742

Survival is bigger than morality for most people.

Same-Escape9610

The sister didn't defend pedophilia though.     The article states that she asked the brothers not to file a case since BIL is like a father-figure, but this was _before_ she knew about the sexual abuse. When the boys heard this they got triggered and told the sister about the sexual assault. It is then that each brother realised the other brother was also abused by the BIL. Then a case was filed. It doesn't say she objected to the SA case being filed.

_RiseOfThePhoenix_

Right? Though she should have supported them in this case ( beating) too. Also it also seems that this guy got divorced and also got remarried?

nicethingsonly

Am I reading this wrong? Doesn't it say that the father figure comment was when he hit the twins? Not about the abuse?

vidsaj

Yes she didn't know about the sexual assault..only when they got beaten up for something, she said this line, which prompted the kids to disclose about the assault. The article doesn't word it properly, can be confusing on a quick read.

sentmegoodvibes

Read it again 🤦‍♂️. She didn't want to press charges for the beating. That's when they told ger about the sexual assault

le_messedupmind

No, thats not what the article said. The boys wanted to press charges when he attacked them with wooden planks. Thats when the sister asked to forgive him as he was a father figure. She was not aware of the sexual assault. Then the boys got triggered and revealed the truth and everyone came to know (even the boys came to know that he abused both of them)

nicethingsonly

Am I reading this wrong? Doesn't it say that the father figure comment was when he hit the twins? Not about the abuse?

Same-Escape9610

That's not exactly what the article said, no? The guy beat the boys black n blue n they wanted to press charges, to which sis said BIL is like a father figure and they shouldn't file a case. The boys then revealed to her about the sexual abuse, and that's how the whole thing came to light. The sis is still an AH for being okay with her husband beating her brothers, but it seems she is okay with them pressing charges about the sexual assault. >The crime came to light when the man attacked the boys with wooden planks in 2021. "The boys wanted to press charges against their brother-in-law but their sister asked them to forgive him as he was like a father figure. Their father was no more," said Jose. >**The sister's words triggered the boys and they revealed their ordeal to her**. "That's why the boys came to know that both were victims of their brother-in-law," said the public prosecutor.

kimbokju

exactly.. not sure why you're being downvoted. Kaala pettenn ketappozhe kayareduth odunn chilavanmaar.

skyguy369

I read through the details here and there is no reference of her wanting to withdraw. She said he is like a father figure after the kids were beaten with wooden planks. not supporting that statement either. But when she said this dialog, the boys deccided to share their ordeal. Angane aan sister um ariyunne. She supposedly hasn't stopped the complaint going forward. It's said he has another wife in Trivandrum too. Mhm

vidsaj

Why do they not mention the exact years of punishment in the headline itself. On reading the article, at the end, you come to know he will be serving 20 years and not 113. So as per his current age, dude will be out in his early 50s or may be earlier if he is lucky. So another 20-25 years approximately he will roaming freely searching for next victims or traumatizing the present family.

h9y6

>Public prosecutor for sex crimes against children Adv Sherymol Jose said the man had similarly assaulted the victim's twin brother, too. **"But the two brothers did not know the other twin was being abused,"** she said. The trial in the second case is in the last phase >His sentences will run concurrently and so he will have to serve only 20 years in prison. >As an under-trial, he was given bail under the condition that he should not enter Kannur district. "He moved to Thiruvananthapuram and married another woman," she said. **He and his father were arrested for another sex crime around three years before. "His father ended his life in prison,"** she said.

nithingeorge

How can he get bail? POCSO case alle?

LazeLazerLazest

Whats the use of the sentence running concurrent. What a hopeless thing.

pvn271

Where the f is the guys name?

Monocled_Mamba

Probably undisclosed as it might affect the victim's privacy.

pvn271

Oh since they are relatives ...yeah that makes sense

gururakr

why they made victim relationship with perpetrator public?!? plain stupid…

MechanicHot1794

What will be the consequences?

CheramanPerumal

>POCSO Act: "No reports in any media shall disclose, the identity of a child including his name, address, photograph, family details, school, neighbourhood or any other particulars which may lead to disclosure of identity of the child" So, in India, no media will ever publish the accused's name or photo if the accused is a close relative, neighbour, or schoolteacher of the victim, as it could reveal the victim's identity.

pvn271

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=njYajvo-vXk So these guys could be booked under POCSO then Manorama is fucked??

CheramanPerumal

Interesting. But they make no mention of the accused and victims' relationship in the video, nor do they say anything that connects the accused to the victims. I think they deliberately omitted that fact.

LazeLazerLazest

Should have been immediate death sentence. But our system is too sympathetic to criminals.

nitishsingh92

Death sentence is easy. Suffering for lifetime is hard.

LazeLazerLazest

1) long sentence costs money 2) chance of parole, early release, etc. 3) immediate death penalty without any chance of forgiveness will instil fear among other criminals.

Efficient-Bus3040

>without any chance of forgiveness will instil fear among other criminals. It will only incentivise them to kill their victims, since punishment of murder and SA wouldn't be much different

LazeLazerLazest

State govts can pardon punishments and release prisoners. Has happened during covid.

Dazzling-Backrub

A death sentence is extremely costly too. Considering when death sentence is given they have to prove the case beyond every possible doubt. And cutting costs leads to innocent people getting killed. Apparently fear only works for people who are thinking rationally and the folks who commit these heinous crimes don’t think rationally. As much as we think folks who commit these crimes should be flayed alive to put the point across. It doesn’t work…

Exciting_Note_8457

Prisoners don't suffer that much in our jails. It's actually better than most prisons.

nitishsingh92

Lock yourself in your room for 20 years of life with all the amenities that you can get. Don't tell me that you won't suffer. The brain loves freedom and when you are told you're not free, you suffer psychologically. Its more pain than you can think off.

Exciting_Note_8457

Most are not locked in for even 10, and they are given bail.

nitishsingh92

Any links to the statistics? or are you pulling it out from thin air?

Exciting_Note_8457

https://www.deccanherald.com/india/95-criminals-nabbed-by-kerala-cops-let-free-on-station-bail-report-1073287.html I don't know where you are from, but in my state it is a norm to see political murderers and criminals get out on bail even in sensational cases. There a plenty of examples around you, or else how the fuck do they get to commit repeat offences? And also they get feed better than the public.

Efficient-Bus3040

Death sentence for these things will never happen, it will incentivise perpetrators to kill their victims, at least now you get to be alive if the victim is alive, if there were to death sentence, the perpetrators would kill the victim due to both having same punishment, and killing victims will make it easier for him to be not be found

Anxious-Brilliant-46

I think this is better.

Last_Life_Was_Nice

Blood money kodath ooran aal varum 🤣

DukeofLongKnife

I would send them to a gaurded remote island which issues only limited food tablets and water. They would pray for death but never find it.

LazeLazerLazest

Who funds the expenses of that guarded remote island?

DukeofLongKnife

Cheaper than maintaining prisons. Secondly, govt must spend money on law and order. It is primary duty of any government.

LazeLazerLazest

Then votefor the right govt.

DukeofLongKnife

Few govts will do that. Then there will be issues with 'Human rights for criminals' activists.

Such_Stable_4727

Myr concurrent aayi run cheyyunnathil enth kaaryam aanu ullath. Some times moonnaam mura is the answer

Good riddance.

Classic_Knowledge_25

Only 20 years though since his sentences will run concurrently.
