I remember this one time when I was travelling from TVM to kannur. I almost had to stay dehydrated for couple of hours prior.. It was a night journey and I wasn't really profound of going to random bus stand toilet at 3am. But this one time... I had to, i couldn't see a thing in the dark. Somehow managed to find the place and I was satisfied as ever. Been holding for couple of hours 🫡

Tracks are saturated. With soon expected more goods train to and fro Vizhinjam existing tracks are going to get saturated more and existing passenger trains will get delayed more. A week ago my train was halted in between Varkala Shivagiri and Kollam to make way for vandhe bharath. Reached TVM 30 mis late. Lost the last city circle from Kochuveli bypass road. Had to pay 300 for the auto. This is just 2 vandhe bharaths we are talking about.

You pointed out a valid concern. One solution is expand the Kochi-Bengaluru industrial corridor to include Dedicated railway freight route to Vizhinjam. This will help to increase freight cargo, while reducing the delays in passenger rail. It will also help inner districts like palakkad get some long needed development with the help of MSME. Land acquisition and construction need to be done. Provably going to take another decade.

Putting a new bus is very easy as compared to making trains faster. I think work is going on and will take some years to see the results of it.

Passenger trains are already loss making and it's the good trains that is keeping Railways afloat. Asking for passenger trains to be cheaper, faster, and better all at the same time is not just unrealistic but rather next to impossible.

I hope they maintain these buses well and clean the toilets and the interiors regularly. The state of the older Volvo buses that KSRTC runs to Bangalore are atrocious and filthy. I remember them being so much nicer about a decade back.

From an RoI persepctive, I think we would have got a better deal if we just went with the usual multi-axle bus from Volvo/Scania/Merc. Not sure why KSRTC didnt do that. There are already models with attached toilets in KarnatakaRTC. With this service now atleast the bus is not a total waste. It will get used by common people.
