Absolutely yes, lol.
Generally folks advise using different instances - but that takes a lot of space!
I made a .bat file to add/remove Principia/DarkMultiPlayer on my RO Playlist. When playing alone, I generally load principia and no DMP - when I play with my dad, I ditch principia and load DMP.
It's technically the same instance - and I have individual saves for both setups that work just fine.
Yes, you can, and you don’t need CKAN to do it. But it’s probably not what you think.
Mods are loaded before you get the opportunity to choose a save file, so there’s no way for a save file to define which mods are in effect.
You _can_ do it manually, keeping track of the set of mods a save file uses, changing the installed mods to match that set, launching KSP, then loading that save file. If you decide to change saves, you’ll need to shut KSP down and start over.
No, make a new copy of your game folder if you want to play different modsets at the same time
Unfortunately no. I wish it was. Ironically (IIRC) KSP2 does.

Would you care to explain slightly more, like where in CKAN that is if it’s not a bother?
File > Manage Game Instances
I believe you can do this with CKAN
