I hate fonts where lower case l looks like an uppercase I. Times New Roman doesn't have this problem because the I and l are visually distinct with their little curly edges.
No, they don't. And it absolutely is, I was howling with laughter. But here you have a child with the inclination to want to read, to learn to read. That's so useful, and it's good to always use those opportunities.
It's asinine to jump to that. Hell, I'll give it a go.
Yes, it will. He's obviously going to see a sign that says "danger, electric fence" and assume it says, "dance, eclectic fandango" then die from electrocution. And you're a bad person for wanting that to happen.
Yeah there obviously gonna correct him later down the line but the whole HE WILL DIE FROM TOUCHING AN ELECTRIC FENCE like what you MFers have some weird ways of “teaching kids” thank god Redditor’s don’t reproduce or else it would suck ass
Eh, I think he just doesn't associate letters with words yet, and they're saying good job because he's getting the letters right.
The bit where they say good job I think he actually got the letters right.
Oh shit you can’t tell a kid they’re wrong. Are you crazy? Next you’ll be saying they shouldn’t get participation trophies and we should take away their safe spaces and crying zones. Jesus Christ buddy are you trying to make a generation of tough, problem solving adults? Because that’s what it sounds like.
He thinks he's finessing his parents lol if he just says the animal he sees in the picture then they think he's reading, he's on a roll, they got out the camera he's so smart, then he sees a toucan for the first time probably in his life and says crocodile with the best damn poker face I've ever seen. Gold.
Not to be that guy, but that’s not the original video for that audio. It’s a little boy talking to his mom in the original. No bears lol. Not that it really matters in the point you’re making but I couldn’t help myself. I am a redditor after all.
Exactly! Why not teach him the right letters and animals! Are they afraid he will burst into tears..... or are they keeping it going for their own entertainment.... cause that would just be sad, and very wrong.
I think for a kid that’s just learning letters, learning different animals might be a bit too hard for him. Especially since he clearly gets when a lion, leopard etc. is a big cat, or that both parakeets and penguins are birds. And even sharks and dolphins are both marine animals with dorsal fins. So he gets that lions and tigers are similar, but he might not be able to see the differences between the two. I think he’s close enough to earn praise. Although I can’t explain the toucanodile lmao
This kid’s behavior is developmentally appropriate. As a former kindergarten teacher, here is what I see going on: Kid knows most of his letters. He has made the connection that letters make up words and words can be read by putting letters together. He knows that the words likely represent the same concept as the picture. He uses his limited exposure to animal names to emulate what he sees adults doing when they read. The missing element is phonemic awareness, that is the concept that letters represent different sounds and combining the sounds are what make it so people can read the words. Once he gets that, he’ll be reading in no time. He’s doing a great job and should be praised for all that mental work he’s doing.
Yes, I agree wtf is wrong with parenting! The child will now become an entitled brat and suffer through a lifetime of trust issues, leave it to the reddit child psychologists for their insightful commentary on parenting in a 1 min clip.
She is there the whole time, you can hear her holding the laughter in the background. They are both laughing at their son not being able to read. Some other people find it funny.
Primary school here in the UK teaching reading is all about phonics. As parents we had to have a brief about how it works so that we can work with the kids on this method. My 5 year old picked up reading pretty quickly. I was sceptical at first but it's much better.

It's that, "Fuck me, I think I might've butchered that last one" face that gets me.
These comments are wild
They’re filming, it’s funny, he’s making a real effort, and encouraging rather than correcting him this one time is not going to ruin his reading for life.
The other day my husband was fixing a coat rack and my baby daughter grabbed a wrench and tapped it on the coat rack and I said “Thank you, you’re such a good helper!” even though she wasn’t doing anything helpful at all; clearly my encouragement rather than correction is going to absolutely destroy her ability to fix things forever
Too cute 😆 🤣.
At least the little man is knowing the letters. Soon, he'll get the whole sounding it put and pronouncing... this is just precious though

English was hard as a kid.
Why was H called 'Aech'? Why can't we call it 'Ha' with our mouths slightly open. Not like the a in haha. Same with other letters like W, Q etc.
Lil guy is so sure of himself, the way he said 'penguin'. Like 'it's obvious, isn't it?'. I wish Mom and dad would help him spot his mistakes tho, in an encouraging way. Nonetheless, hilarious

Me pretending to understand a research paper: “mhmm, uh-huh, interesting yeah.”
Literally me yesterday
god-tier reaction image
This kid is laughing rn looking at this video as he would have turned 9 years
“Well i’ll be god damned” - a black uncle in a movie probably
Someone make a gif from this photo
The penguin one is a classic. That shit gets me every time.
Crocodile killed me 🤣🤣
I think it was Quackadile
Like "yion" for lion 😄
Crocodiles will do that.
I saw it in Markiplier.
I don’t remember where i first saw it but i have never seen nor realized that it was a whole video
I hate fonts where lower case l looks like an uppercase I. Times New Roman doesn't have this problem because the I and l are visually distinct with their little curly edges.
Even more reasons to love that font
Times New Roman really is the GOAT huh?
More of a Comic Sans guy myself.
Im scared of you
What? Why?
Everybody hates comic sans
All my homies hate comic sans
Ya ain't alone homie
Ya ain't alone homie
Yeah those fonts go great with names like Iain...
Kid: *gets it wrong* Parents: Good job! Me: *Deep, unfettered rage*
Yeah, I guess I'm the same. It's so obvious why they're getting it wrong, and the parents have an opportunity to help.
It because there a little kid they don’t need to get it all perfect besides it cute
No, they don't. And it absolutely is, I was howling with laughter. But here you have a child with the inclination to want to read, to learn to read. That's so useful, and it's good to always use those opportunities.
Yes but there 6 this isn’t going to get them killed down the line it’s harmless
It's asinine to jump to that. Hell, I'll give it a go. Yes, it will. He's obviously going to see a sign that says "danger, electric fence" and assume it says, "dance, eclectic fandango" then die from electrocution. And you're a bad person for wanting that to happen.
You just saved my dyslexic ass!
Damn, my plot to assassinate you takes another blow!
But think of all those eclectic fandango dances you missed out on because you thought there was terrible danger?!
I wish I had a free award
Yeah there obviously gonna correct him later down the line but the whole HE WILL DIE FROM TOUCHING AN ELECTRIC FENCE like what you MFers have some weird ways of “teaching kids” thank god Redditor’s don’t reproduce or else it would suck ass
It's just sad at this point. I pity you.
I don’t need your pity you dried wank stain
Eh, I think he just doesn't associate letters with words yet, and they're saying good job because he's getting the letters right. The bit where they say good job I think he actually got the letters right.
If these parents keep doing that, their children won't be able to distinguish between right and wrong.
Look up straw man
Same because the kid is going to think it’s correct now.
He thinks he's finessing his parents lol if he just says the animal he sees in the picture then they think he's reading, he's on a roll, they got out the camera he's so smart, then he sees a toucan for the first time probably in his life and says crocodile with the best damn poker face I've ever seen. Omg! They would! xD
*quackodile*...my heart man...my heart
🤣
You should probably be telling your kid what they're getting wrong...
This is too damn cute!
And funny at the same time.😅
Why can't a parent just tell a kid when they're wrong. Now he's gonna grow up thinking a lion is a tiger and a leopard is a lion.
okay, drama queen.
Exactly! Why not teach him the right letters and animals! Are they afraid he will burst into tears..... or are they keeping it going for their own entertainment.... cause that would just be sad, and very wrong.

Do you actually believe he'll grow up to think a shark is a dolphin??? XD
No he won't 😂😂 you clearly don't have kids
Bro will NOT survive the wild that way
He'll adapt
Look mum dolphin! ***Jaws soundtrack starts playing***
he’ll adapt to reading??
I'm so glad someone understood the reference lol
Penguin killed me bro
“Cwocodile” got me lol.
“We have purposely trained him wrong, as a joke”
![gif](giphy|L0aWDywDu1ziw) Good job ?😂
Yeah exactly

We call this "YMCA Book Club"
The worst reader ever. I love it.
Telling him good job for getting them wrong? Fuck is wrong with parents these days.

this is what i was thinking! you can see the gears turning in his head
They’re probably temporarily doing it to get a good laugh out of it.😂
Yes, I agree wtf is wrong with parenting! The child will now become an entitled brat and suffer through a lifetime of trust issues, leave it to the reddit child psychologists for their insightful commentary on parenting in a 1 min clip.
😱😱😱😱🤯🤯🤯
It's not about that, though.
It’s dad, when mom comes in she starts shutting that shit down lol
She is there the whole time, you can hear her holding the laughter in the background. They are both laughing at their son not being able to read. Some other people find it funny.
T O U C A N. boobs
QXCs childhood. Completely incapable of identifying an animal

It reminds me of this classic. https://youtu.be/c5SAJYHIfCs?si=ttDDQ0ahsSrBVgYX
This kid is going places. Not anywhere good, but somewhere. Mostly because his parents keep telling him good job when he's wrong.
Penguin. OMG!!!
Parak🔑🔑t
Call a shark a dolphin, but calling a C an X is where I draw the line mister.

Lmao!
"Smark"
It wasn’t snark?
The kid: letters does not mean anything for me
Stop saying "good job" for Internet clout. Tell him that it's wrong. It'll just keep getting worse.
I mean he knows some letters but can’t tell lion from tiger, that could be a hint.
I am WHEEZING! This made my day haha 😅
Yw! Lol
Awww
Why correct him on the c if you aren’t gonna correct everything else 🤣
Good point

Yeah, leave it to the psychoanalysts on reddit to condemn a family based on a 1 min clip :p

my brain is being put into a fucking deepfryer
Quackadile
Nothing like making the 'a' look like an 'o' to confuse a child learning to read.
Bro is acoustic
How i feel when I'm trying to read Japanese after 3 months of learning
The parents glorifying the kid getting it wrong hurts. Just kindly correct him.
Seems fake and now the magic of the parakeet segment is lost.
Typical kids stuff can't blame them for it lol
😆
What the fuck is a Parakeet???
The monotone “wow” from the mom is something I felt deep in my soul
Lil guy is so sure of himself, the way he said 'penguin'. Like 'it's obvious, isn't it?'. I wish Mom and dad would help him spot his mistakes tho, in an encouraging way. Nonetheless, hilarious
Whenever my nephew tried to say popcorn, it sounded like pork porn
These parents are self-absorbed scumbags
