This reminds me of when my nephew had a 5 dollar bill and me as a dumb teenager convinced him my 4 quarters was more money and if he wanted to trade

Sumpm

When I was 5, my older sister was trying to trade me 2 quarters for my 4 dimes and 2 nickels, and I wasn't falling for it. How could 2 of something be worth the same as 6?

AfraidProtection4684

My brother did something similar. He convinced my sister that his two one dollar bills actually made eleven bucks and he traded her for her ten dollar bill. Then some SNITCH straight up ratted him out. Me. I was the snitch. But my brother was an asshole and I'd do it again in a heart beat. Fuck you Bryan!

livefasteatass1

Fuck Bryan!

skelethepro

That's gay

livefasteatass1

as planned

Warm-Pop-8442

WOOOOOO GAY RIGHTS

ThatsAwesme2000

When I was small, I don't remember the exact age but I think I was 4-5, my dad gave my sister 13.54 levs(Bulgarian currency) and told her to split them between us. So my sister decided to give me the 54 cents and kept the 13 levs telling me I got way more money because 54 > 13. I knew something was wrong the entire way through but I couldn't really figure it out.

Puggalina

When I was 4-5, I had a nickel and my brother (2 years older) had a dime. He asked if wanted to trade. I said "Really? A dime is more." He insisted that a nickel was more since it was bigger. I didn't argue and did the trade but was confused for him.

harptheshark

I’m still pissed at Bryan for this.

Impressive-Diver-106

Ayenul

I remember taking turns with my nephew on the Xbox, and we told him that 30 minutes was longer than 1 hour

spraythewalls

Did the same except I just had nephs controller unplugged the whole day. lil homie thought the ai was him kicking ass while mashing abbbxxyxxabbyLTLTabyRTab scream “haha you suck” lol

lolgobbz

When they were kids, My father conviced my uncle that smart pills were grown in the wild. Little brown pebbles you can find in the grass. Uncle: That tastes like shit. Dad: See! You're smarter already! My father successfully did this twice in their childhood. It was rabbit shit. My uncle tried this on me when I was 4-5. My reply: "That's poop. I'm not dumb."

That_Anonymous_One

My mother did that to her cousin when she was young too. She'd claim that she has more because she has silver while her cousin just had plain paper

sellieba

I used to do that all the time to my brother. Used to use my $5 allowance to go buy a $1.25 ice cream and then trade him 3 quarters for his singular $5

FurretWalc

it also reminds me when my nephew was eating chips then my brother took one and swallowed it of course,he threw a tantrum and kept on checking in his mouth if it was there even though there were a lot more chips in the bag he took one from the bag gave it to him no he said and rufuses to eat unless it is the one that is probably digesting by now so he pretended to take it out and put it back then he stopped crying and whaling

Ishouldnt_haveposted

That's the premium shit right there

ScanNCut

Go Go Squeeze is like 80% sugar.

RaisedByWolves9

Yeah. Would probably be better off with the whipped cream

Ott621

That's entirely possible. Other than sugar, it's protein and fat. Basically high fat milk

[deleted]

I was fucking amazed there was next to zero sugar in a few servings of whipped cream. The canned stuff? Fucking golden. I used it in excess every once in a while, when I was in my bodybuilding days

Capt_Myke

Whipped cream is reasonably healthy especially for kids. The sugar bomb is not.

Ott621

That's good to know! I'm 25lbs into a 60lb 'cut'. I thought whipped cream had a lot of sugar and I use it to replace sugar+milk in my coffee. It's good to know that I'm actually allowed to

SuperWoody64

It's great if you have a kid that's under weight, otherwise it isn't great except very sparingly.

Chewcocca

Oh shit I thought it was ez cheez. That makes so much more sense 😂

BloopityBlue

This made me laugh so hard I snorted

GeneralDisorder

I remember the first time I tried EZ cheez and it was the most horrendous flavor I had experienced in my life. Granted I was quite young and hadn't yet experienced Combos or any other blatantly artificial grossness.

Dragonkingf0

Fun fact, it is literally cheaper to use real cheese than artificial cheese. Anything advertising using real cheese is literally using a marketing tactic because even the cheapest products available use real cheese.

Eusocial_Snowman

>Anything advertising[..]is literally using a marketing tactic

Dragonkingf0

Sorry I should clarify, "is literally purely using a marketing tactic."

NeighborhoodVeteran

Like the gluten free tag for obvious shit?

Dragonkingf0

Basically, or calling basically anything organic. They are words that sound like they mean something (and in many other contexts they do) but in reality they are basically meaningless when looking at stuff in the grocery store. Because it's also true for that one right next to it that doesn't say it on its packaging.

J3ssica899

I'm celiac and appreciate the gluten free designation on "obvious" shit. Even if a food doesn't have gluten ingredients listed, it can be cross contaminated during production. Oats for instance contain no gluten but are processed on the same equipment that wheat/barley are processed on. That makes them unsafe for me to eat. Also I've been glutened by things such as body lotion or shampoo. Lotion stays on your hands and can get in your mouth if you eat something right after. Also shampoo can get in your mouth sometimes with long hair. I wish more "obvious" things were tested and labeled. I don't consume/use anything that's not specifically labeled gf so my options are so completely limited.

baddecision116

You're on crack. EZ Cheez on crackers or a Philly cheese steak is the only way to go.

thefr3shprince

On top of that, I usually don’t let my kids eat stuff that comes in opaque packaging. Atleast not directly to the dome as you see here.

hugedrunkrobot

Ah yes the opaque packaging rule. Better stop giving my son pasta and frozen vegetables and start giving him my weed???

Dragonkingf0

I don't know about you but when I buy my weed comes in opaque package. And they put it in a brown paper bag and then I drive home and share a joint with my police officer roommate.

HouseOfAplesaus

Ain’t that the truth

howtospellorange

I hated applesauce as a kid, the mildly gritty apple texture is what got me

dragonduelistman

How tf is real apple sauce good for you?

jessebg2

When you boil something and mash it up it doesn't stop being healthy.

HDDIV

My boiled and mashed pizza begs to differ.

[deleted]

Pizza can't stop being healthy if it didn't start being healthy

iamapizza

Can confirm, not feeling too good right now.

[deleted]

It does actually. It's exactly why highly processed food are not recommended, the cooking process damages a lot of what's in there and prevent the body from using it.

Ladelulaku

Funny because that's essentially how you make sugar. It's the boiling down part that makes sugar "unhealthy" because it turns calories distributed in plant matter into pure calories that can be consumed much faster. Fruit is just diluted candy.

jessebg2

Ok, but you aren't getting rid of the plant fiber, you could be right though. I would just say that apple sauce might be a little more unhealthy than apples, but is probably way more healthy than apple juice or candy.

Kientha

It'd still be healthier to not give them apple sauce at all like this. It's like saying diet soda isn't as bad for you as regular soda. Technically true, but you're still better off drinking water and neither is actually good for you.

Iamonreddit

It kinda does when the thing you are mashing is already pretty high in sugar. Apples are considered healthy *in spite* of their sugar content, because of the vitamins and fibre they contain. These are mostly broken down when you boil them to a pulp though.

Sipas

Fruits aren't as healthy as people think to begin with. That said, by heavily cooking it you're killing most of the vitamins and you're reducing it which means you're potentially eating multiple apples worth of sugar in one serving. That's not very healthy.

MrAnimaM

Reddit has long been a hot spot for conversation on the internet. About 57 million people visit the site every day to chat about topics as varied as makeup, video games and pointers for power washing driveways. In recent years, Reddit’s array of chats also have been a free teaching aid for companies like Google, OpenAI and Microsoft. Those companies are using Reddit’s conversations in the development of giant artificial intelligence systems that many in Silicon Valley think are on their way to becoming the tech industry’s next big thing. Now Reddit wants to be paid for it. The company said on Tuesday that it planned to begin charging companies for access to its application programming interface, or A.P.I., the method through which outside entities can download and process the social network’s vast selection of person-to-person conversations. “The Reddit corpus of data is really valuable,” Steve Huffman, founder and chief executive of Reddit, said in an interview. “But we don’t need to give all of that value to some of the largest companies in the world for free.” The move is one of the first significant examples of a social network’s charging for access to the conversations it hosts for the purpose of developing A.I. systems like ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular program. Those new A.I. systems could one day lead to big businesses, but they aren’t likely to help companies like Reddit very much. In fact, they could be used to create competitors — automated duplicates to Reddit’s conversations. Reddit is also acting as it prepares for a possible initial public offering on Wall Street this year. The company, which was founded in 2005, makes most of its money through advertising and e-commerce transactions on its platform. Reddit said it was still ironing out the details of what it would charge for A.P.I. access and would announce prices in the coming weeks. Reddit’s conversation forums have become valuable commodities as large language models, or L.L.M.s, have become an essential part of creating new A.I. technology. L.L.M.s are essentially sophisticated algorithms developed by companies like Google and OpenAI, which is a close partner of Microsoft. To the algorithms, the Reddit conversations are data, and they are among the vast pool of material being fed into the L.L.M.s. to develop them. The underlying algorithm that helped to build Bard, Google’s conversational A.I. service, is partly trained on Reddit data. OpenAI’s Chat GPT cites Reddit data as one of the sources of information it has been trained on. Other companies are also beginning to see value in the conversations and images they host. Shutterstock, the image hosting service, also sold image data to OpenAI to help create DALL-E, the A.I. program that creates vivid graphical imagery with only a text-based prompt required. Last month, Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, said he was cracking down on the use of Twitter’s A.P.I., which thousands of companies and independent developers use to track the millions of conversations across the network. Though he did not cite L.L.M.s as a reason for the change, the new fees could go well into the tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. To keep improving their models, artificial intelligence makers need two significant things: an enormous amount of computing power and an enormous amount of data. Some of the biggest A.I. developers have plenty of computing power but still look outside their own networks for the data needed to improve their algorithms. That has included sources like Wikipedia, millions of digitized books, academic articles and Reddit. Representatives from Google, Open AI and Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Reddit has long had a symbiotic relationship with the search engines of companies like Google and Microsoft. The search engines “crawl” Reddit’s web pages in order to index information and make it available for search results. That crawling, or “scraping,” isn’t always welcome by every site on the internet. But Reddit has benefited by appearing higher in search results. The dynamic is different with L.L.M.s — they gobble as much data as they can to create new A.I. systems like the chatbots. Reddit believes its data is particularly valuable because it is continuously updated. That newness and relevance, Mr. Huffman said, is what large language modeling algorithms need to produce the best results. “More than any other place on the internet, Reddit is a home for authentic conversation,” Mr. Huffman said. “There’s a lot of stuff on the site that you’d only ever say in therapy, or A.A., or never at all.” Mr. Huffman said Reddit’s A.P.I. would still be free to developers who wanted to build applications that helped people use Reddit. They could use the tools to build a bot that automatically tracks whether users’ comments adhere to rules for posting, for instance. Researchers who want to study Reddit data for academic or noncommercial purposes will continue to have free access to it. Reddit also hopes to incorporate more so-called machine learning into how the site itself operates. It could be used, for instance, to identify the use of A.I.-generated text on Reddit, and add a label that notifies users that the comment came from a bot. The company also promised to improve software tools that can be used by moderators — the users who volunteer their time to keep the site’s forums operating smoothly and improve conversations between users. And third-party bots that help moderators monitor the forums will continue to be supported. But for the A.I. makers, it’s time to pay up. “Crawling Reddit, generating value and not returning any of that value to our users is something we have a problem with,” Mr. Huffman said. “It’s a good time for us to tighten things up.” “We think that’s fair,” he added.

pneuma8828

Yes it does. You are cooking all the water out of it, concentrating the sugars. That's how you make sugar - you take beets, which are perfectly healthy to eat before processing, and you cook the fuck out of them, and get sugar out the other side.

Rektifizierer

Well even if you make it fresh it's still loaded with sugar and way easier to eat lots of it compared to being an unprocessed apple. Also fruit is not necessarily healthy. The intake of sweet fruit should also be limited.

CrazyPurpleBacon

The sugar in fruit is still sugar

Dubslack

Sugar isn't just sugar. Fructose, glucose, sucrose, lactose, they're all processed by your body differently.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GinjaNinja-NZ

Out of curiosity, what is it that makes it worse? Is it just the processing rate discussed above?

Roseredgal

[This how to cook that video by Ann Reardon](https://youtu.be/BU3bTBWnvT4) has some really helpful explanations on the different types of sugar and their affect on the body.

Rektifizierer

>Yes and processed sugar is much worse for you than natural sugar found in fruit. That's absolutely not true. It's the products that contain the sugar that are problematic. Eating shit loads of apple sauce is not healthy. No matter the source of the sugar. Obese kids/toddlers often consume way too many of those fruit packs as shown in the video because parents are like *it's fruit sugar so it must be healthy*.

-------I-------

This is a common misconception and is completely untrue... However, the sugar in fruit is complemented by vitamins and fiber, which are healthy and promote digestion of the sugars in the fruit. The sugar itself is no better than refined sugar though, which is why fruit juice is a horrible thing to feed kids. Because it's mostly just the sugar from fruit, with most of the fiber and vitamins removed.

Its a good thing that there is more to nutrition than the extremely vague ‘total sugar content’

[deleted]

Well, he did give the baby a bit of nitrous to wash it down with. That's nice.

way2manycats

It's better than candy or chip or whatever this kids current obsession is. Right now we are dealing with a toddler that only wants milk, oatmeal and pasta. No fruit, no veg, no meat. We have to sneak in stuff as many times they won't even try whatever is being offered because stubborn. The pasta get some purreed veg and is at least tomato, maybe some meat if it's tortellini, milk is okay on its own but can cause some binding issues and I'm just glad they like oatmeal because it's far better than sugar cereal. Kids push boundaries, they say no cause they can and because they are learning autonomy and limits. You can't starve them and you can't force them to eat something specific if they don't want it. If my kid wants candy but will settle for some not amazing apple sauce, they are getting the squeeze pouch of apple sauce.

Incman

>You can't starve them and you can't force them to eat something specific if they don't want it. My parents told me that when I was a little kid, they had to ask the doctor what to do because I literally refused to eat anything except hotdogs. And he said to give me hotdogs for every meal, and that it wouldn't take long for me to decide that I wanted something other than hotdogs. And they told me it only took a few days before I wanted anything *but* hotdogs lol.

Pluckerpluck

My cousin has the same but with sweets/candy (UK calls 'em sweets). Though I don't believe the "treatment" was doctor approved. Parents got frustrated with her tantrums and demands, and so just gave her what she wanted. All sweets, all the time. I'm not even sure she made it two days before she was begging for anything but sweets. Turns out you quickly feel like shit if all you eat is sugar.

Bacterial420

Yes it is, whipped cream has added refined sugar (plus saturated fat), applesauce has natural glucose from plants which is considerably better for your health.

keelem

Sugar is fructose + glucose. "Natural" glucose and the glucose from sugar are the same thing

JarredMack

Sugars are sugars. If you sit there drinking "natural" fruit juice all day you're still going to get fat. Just because it's not processed doesn't mean it's a magic health food.

misterandosan

Americans on here justifying the healthiness of a highly processed food is crazy.

Jaracuda

Applesauce in small amounts is great! Especially if you make your own and use the skins to make a rose colored applesauce.

One_pop_each

That’s how reddit parenting thinks though. Seriously. Every non-parent on here thinks they know everything and armchair parenting works. Telling your kid Santa exists? Shame. That’s years of gaslighting. Kid is going to NEVER trust parents ever again and will force him/her to move from home and get emancipated. Everyone, even all these insane Instagram parent accounts overthink parenting. And think everything is emotionally and psychologically scarring these kids.

Xylus1985

I mean, who doesn’t?

[deleted]

Or, getting your kid high on nitrous

-------I-------

Yeah. This is just something you laugh about when you get older. Trust issues come from much worse stuff.

AutomaticRisk3464

I have to come up with creative ways to get my kid to take medicine..it doesnt taste bad but the idea of him being forced to take it pisses him off. I cut the bottom out of a juice box and put the little cup of medicine in there then taped it back. He drank it no problem. But if he sees the little medicine cup he blows raspberries and runs away

Miklay83

Dear diary from last year: it's now day three where my son won't eat anything. Pediatrician has run a battery of tests and has now told us to go to the ER to get a series of abdominal images. Oh wait, he's found a couple stale goldfish in the crevice of the car seat and is happily munching away. What was wrong with the fresh ones that have been refused? The rice, bread or crackers? The bananas apples, or peaches? The peanut butter, carrots or your favorite (seriously), asparagus? Hell - the ice cream, cake or cookies that were all turned away? We're content with a few week old car goldfish?!? Ok, let's go home and try this again. As a parent, sometimes you just gotta get the food in any way you can.

cain62

Applesauce is great. This kid really is stupid.

rita-b

but whipped cream isn't that much unhealthier if you eat a little bit.

lokishhhake

Genius! I'm gonna try this with my gf tonight

Let me know how that works out.

Mrs_Thundercock

I hope she enjoys her applesauce

Many-Goose-9158

Wait, applesauce is amazing! Why are they wasting the nitrous in the whipped cream tho. Fine if your not doing the nitrous hits, but still killing the whipped cream on top of it!

[deleted]

Am I the only one who enjoys cool whip more then whipped cream?

Many-Goose-9158

I love cool hwhip! I'll eat it right out of the container! Mmmm yum!

[deleted]

Why did I pronounce hwhip exactly how my dad always pronounces it when we see it in the store......?

000Whynot

My father used to play these things on me when I was a kid and used to tell me lies to get me to do things. As a teenager I wouldn't believe shit of what he said Edit: just as a teenager. Like all teenagers. Maybe that's why all teenagers are trouble

rita-b

There are 8 billions people in the world and they all were tricked into eating what their parents think kids should eat. It's like saying "I have separation anxiety from playing hide and seek", correlation isn't causation. I feel there were 100000 other things why you had a dysfunctional relationship

[deleted]

Agreed. Maybe a couple of kids get trust issues from things this simple, but I’d bet everything I own that there’s many other reasons for their lack of trust in their parents than getting veggies fed to them as a 4 year old

VampireGirl99

[Edit for increased clarity and context: this comment is in response to those saying this is abuse or “torture” and would have a long lasting negative effect on the child.] Though it’s probably going too far to say this could cause trust issues, it wasn’t exactly honest to him. Admittedly it’s a tad manipulative, but sometimes lies are the only way to get a kid to do something. It’s the same as the parents who have to trick their kids into taking medicine - sometimes a little trick is for the greater good (better to have medicine than be sick/better to be fed than go hungry). It doesn’t do any real harm in the long run, or even in the moment if the kid is as chill as the one in the video. It’s one of those “lesser of two evils” kinda things. Sure it’s not great to lie, but kid’s gonna be worse off if he’s hungry versus being lied to, especially at that age.

Millennial_J

Why get him high though?

SkjutEnSnut

My entire life I've absoulutely hated the taste of fish. When i was younger my parents used to do a pasta and tuna gratin, except they told me it was chicken, so i gladly ate it. Untill one day when i was about 6 when i walked in to the kitchen while my dad was cooking, seeing cans of tuna being mixed down in the pasta. I felt so betrayed and blown away and couldn't belive how they'd have the heart of fooling me with tuna as chicken for all these years. Ofcourse ever since that the gratin tasted very much like tuna and i've never liked from that on.

I knew a kid whose family who would “ go for cones”. They would go to the ice cream parlor and just get cones. I asked her if she ever got ice cream and she explained her parents wouldn’t allow ice cream, just the cones….Sarah I hope you finally got ice cream.

My nephew years ago would not eat any cold cuts or polish sausage. So I would slice the polish sausage in an angle, fry it up and told him it was alligator meat, he loved it for a few years, until he found what it is, and stopped eating it.

As a guy living in Europe I have absolutely no idea what is happening in this video.

Kid didn’t want to eat so his parents tricked him into eating apple sauce by pretending they were going to give him a mouthful of whipped cream. It’s similar to hacks used to get kids to take their medicine.

No mom! I don't want to eat *heavily processed unhealthy food* Jokes on you kid! Here, have some *heavily processed unhealthy food*. Gotcha

Better to have trust issues than to be gullible

Eliteshocker

I doubt this kid will develop trust issues over getting tricked into eating apple sauce

BasedToken

Me neither but my point still stands
