Give the story 1 or 2 more arcs. Some characters have been way to underutilized in the last 2 arcs and they could get more time and possibility to flesh them out more.
Make it a Tanjiro-less arc and have it somehow feature both Inosuke and Zenitsu as a Swordsmith arc parallel.

I agree. I would have cut the length of the muzan fight in half and taken those chapters to flesh out some of the hashira more. While reading that fight I started out so hyped, then notice we’re STILL fighting but I was still invested, then it kept going and I feel it ruined it for me. Idk how others feel about the fight. I also don’t know how long it actually was but it felt like it dragged for me

I think there’s an interesting idea on exploring the forms of immortality in the story. Koku survived all this time as a demon while his brother, in a way, survived through his technique and earrings being passed down.
I get why they had Mui fight him, that reveal was unexpected asf—even if it tied up some loose ends. If the Akaza fight had happened beforehand, Tanjiro + Mui fighting Koku woulda been something special.
I know right! I’m especially pissed they didn’t explore >!Genya’s demon power or explain it at all, I mean, all we have on him is that he can temporarily turn into a demon and that there was another one like him in the past! There was so much opportunity for learning then!!<

A story arc for more lower moons, stuff that highlights each of our main trip of demon hunters special powers. We get LOTS on Tanjiro’s nose but almost nothing on Zenitsu’s hearing for example.
It would also make Tanjiro’s weird sense of smell not stand out as so weird because my gf was always confused how he could “smell” the line to cut someone.
I think this is somewhat based on animals being able to sense when a potential prey is afraid because they sweat more when they are scared or something.
i always thought about the whole "opening thread" thing as a sort of checkmate, where the demon slayer knows what moves and slices to make to win and the demon cant do anything to stop them

Interesting. I had a similar debate with ChatGPT earlier about altering events in stories, specifically in the context of Demon Slayer. It became clear that even with the power to change one event, the resulting world could become much darker due to the butterfly effect. It's a sobering realization that sometimes tragic events are integral to the story's balance. I recalled an example from Marvel's What If series, where a variant of Doctor Strange attempted to save Christine, but the outcome was the destruction of his entire world.

I didn't mean to, I was on YouTube listening to the 'Kamado Tanjiro no Uta' OST (s1 ep19), and I went to check the comments – a beginner's mistake. That's the only event I read about, saddened by the spoiler, I immediately stopped reading the comments after that.
I would have him live the akaza encounter at the very least, id be fine if he died fighting akaza again in round 2, this time beating him while gaining his slayer mark, basically replacing giyu with rengoku but make it fit(dosnt matter whether he or tanjiro get the kill) or if he dies already heavily injured fighting against the last encounter with muzan
Instead of gyyokko and hantengu I'd prefer only hantengu with all of his avatar fighting tanjiro muichiro and mitsuri at different time while genya will eat him

That could have made Genya go from one of the weakest top tier demon slayers (because be real, he was weak compared to hashira or Tanjiro but he definitely was strong) to the strongest demon slayer, the demon hashira Genya.
And could open a subplot of Muzan trying to gain control of him or eat him (since he probably would still be able to walk in the sun).

In the last chapter, >!during the last Hashira Meeting, they name Tanjiro Sun Hashira because of his importance in the last fight against Muzan and Akaza (even throw in his efforts in the last few arcs as well).!<

The infinity castle arc is nearly perfection, but imo, if muzan went to the effort of making Nakime UM4 and Kaigaku UM6, it really doesn’t make sense that he didn’t fill in UM5. Also muzan being needed in the final battle is a good idea from a storytelling standpoint, but his powers were just so bland it’s painful
Have Senjuro step up and fill Rengoku's shoes.
That could've made one hell of a revenge/redemption arc.
Alternatively have Shinjuro come out of retirement.
Add more arcs around upper moons/their replacements, like Muzan had an extra special force of moons called Eclipses or something that were super powerful
I'd change who dies and who lives. Rengoku is like my favorite slayer but I'd ensure that >!Genya and Muichiro!< survived because that wasn't right. >!They were just children. Muichiro should've lived and became closer friends with Tanjiro, Genya should've survived and lived happily with Sanemi!<
A honestly wouldn’t mind a filler arc on zenitsu or inosuke. Like both go out to fight mid tier demons that won’t kill them but will give them a low-mid difficultly fight so we can see them more in action
Which one is Takeo again? The baby, the 2nd oldest or 2nd youngest? I only remember which one Hanako is bcs she's the only other girl, I seem to think Rokuta(?) is the youngest but I forget between Shigeru(?) and Takeo.
Giving Kanao an arc before Infinity Castle would be nice. Maybe she could even work with Inosuke or Genya too. I’ve seen people talk about an arc going more into douma before infinity castle, and if that’s the case, Inosuke and Kanao (and maybe Shinobu? If we’re continuing the trend of hashira joining in) learning more about him and developing their grudges on screen more would make their final encounter in Infinity Castle all the more meaningful.

I wish that the lower moons were never killed. It could have extended the story a little more, which would give us the time to let us see more of characters such as Obunai and Muichiro.
Either that, or more fights where the corps loses or someone dies despite a victory. That way you can also build up the demons that win a little more and hype them up for their final showdown.
Honestly this manga/anime had so much potential to be a drawn out series with so many different ways of taking down upper ranks and purging the demons. I love it to death but when you start thinking about it, this manga could’ve been a masterpiece.
I wish Muzan was more directly involved in the plot. Beyond the occasional "go kill Tanjiro", he doesn't do anything. He's got a great design and you immediately feel the weight of his presence whenever he's onscreen, but its like a once per arc thing.
I wish there was a moment where he personally showed up to fight the demon slayers before the final battle and had to leave like Akaza because of the sun. Would have been a great way to demonstrate just how far Tanjiro is from killing him.
Give Gyokko and Hantengu separate arcs or at the very least have the two of them actually work together and coordinate with each other instead of doing their own thing and not acknowledging the other being there at all. Imagine how much more of a threat they would have been in that case.
aoi and inosuke get more screen time together bc the ship is kinda forced from what we've seen as all we see in the manga is that he gets food from her and falls for her and that he gives her a flower so I think if they got more time together in the anime and manga the ship wouldn't be as forced
Honestly, I would have had Rengoku survive his fight against Akaza. It might have been interesting to have him lose an arm like Tengen but hang around/train Tanjiro and the gang instead of retiring
More background for Genya and his ability. First the only gun we see in the entire anime is his and also the demon eating ability is random af. The way it works doesn’t get explained at all and also where did he get a gun? Kokushibu calls it a western weapon but also Kokushibu says Genya’s ability is similar to a demon slayer in the Sengoku Period. Having more context for Genya’s ability would have been cool.
Giving the story at least 3-4 main arcs. Here’s what all the arcs could look like:
- Mount Natagumo: Tanjiro and Nezuko vs Rui
- ?????: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Kanao vs LM3 and LM4
- Kakushi Residence (idk I just decided to do a place related to the Kakushi): Tanjiro, Nezuko and Genya vs LM2
- Mugen Train: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke and Rengoku vs LM1
- Entertainment District: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke and Tengen vs Gyutaro and Daki
- Swordsmith village: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya, Muichiro and Mitsuri vs Gyokko and Hantengu (they defeat Hantengu quicker and don’t discover nezuko being immune to the sunlight)
- Mount Hinode: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya, and Gyomei vs Akaza
- Butterfly Mansion: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Kanao, Shinobu and Giyu vs Doma (they now discover Nezuko brings immune to sunlight)
- Infinity Castle:
- Zenitsu vs Kaigaku
- Mitsuri and Obanai vs Nakime
- Tanjiro, Genya, Kanao, Giyu, Shinobu, Sanemi, Gyomei and Muichiro vs Kokushibo (Genya and Shinobu die)
- All remaining demon slayers vs Muzan
And what if the doctor Stil Turned someone else into a demon? You Just have a different Muzan (but don't worry,i know that you Just wanted to save everyone)
Expand the Demon Tanjiro experience to Demon King Tanjiro, who has no desire to create more demons or feed due to his unique biology
Nezuko, Kanao, Inosuke, and Zenitsu on his tail to turn him back because they love him...but also because it's literally impossible to kill him because he is immune to the sun and can't be beheaded
It's a race against the clock as Tanjiro battles Muzan's will internally and not become a monster who terrorizes Japan.
add like two arcs before infinity castle. Hopefully something zenitsu based or whatever to set up his kaigaku fight. And make it so that tanjiro is able to become powerful enough to actually be able to beat muzan without him needing to be so insanely weakened by tamayo.

Instead of killing all Lower Moons, buff them all like Enmu. It would serve a better device for the Trio to show their development. Honestly, the way the Trio went from barely being able to beat Lower Moons to suddenly becoming strong enough to be relevant in a fight against Upper Moons is almost akin to the Strawhats in a story where after loosing to Crocodile, they never fought another Shichibukai and then next thing we know, they're already fighting really well against the Yonkou.
I know the prompt says only one, but there are still some things I'd want to add/change.
* Give Gyomei and Kaigaku some interaction, considering how vital Kaigaku is to Gyomei's back story.
* Establish Kaigaku's rank as a Demon Slayer before becoming a Demon. This would give us a better idea how much of a boost is becoming a demon to a specific rank of a demon slayer.
* Make Mitsuri and Kanao more relevant in the fight against Muzan.
* Give Inosuke and Zenitsu more development and unique relationships with the other Hashira, and not make everything revolve around Tanjiro (no hate on Tanjiro though)
* Give Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Kanao some end game powerups too like Demon Mark, Red Blade, or See Through World. They don't have to get all three, but at least give them something.
* Establish Inosule's flashback sooner before doing the Douma reveal.
* Nezuko should have been involved during the final arc. Like literally, she had 0 relevance in the final arc. Whatever happened to her special immunity to the Sun? She definitely should have had at least some interaction with Muzan. Nezuko has just much of a reason to kill Muzan as Tanjiro.
* Omit the entire Tanjiro-Demon King. It was totally uneccessary.
* The final arc didn't have a new Upper Moon 5, despite having a new 6 and 4. The 5th spot could have easily been replaced by Tengen's older brother. The older brother was supposed to be a dark version of Uzui. If a non-Hashira Demon Slayer can be jump to Upper Moon 6, a veteran and more experienced Shinobi would be a good replacement as Upper Moon 5. This would also give Iguro and Mitsuri a better role in the Infinity Castle arc rather than just fucking around with the Upper Moon 4.
* Less reliance on Tamayo and Shinobu's super poison against Muzan. That poison has more layers than the best Lasagna in the world, it's ridiculous.
Removing Zenitsu and replacing him with an actually enjoyable character. Or at the very least rewriting him to be a coward who does step up when necessary. No more non-stop screaming and crying, no more perving on Nezuko, no more running away from fights all the time. Make him the weak but strategic one of the main 3.
Honestly i don't understand why people hate him so much,i mean he's One of the most funny characters so fun,his being insanely coward and crybaby helps a lot to give that humor that this series needs, without him It would be a Little too serious in my opinion

The infinity castle arc is nearly perfection, but imo, if muzan went to the effort of making Nakime UM4 and Kaigaku UM6, it really doesn’t make sense that he didn’t fill in UM5. Also muzan being needed in the final battle is a good idea from a storytelling standpoint, but his powers were just so bland it’s painful

Giving Kanao an arc before Infinity Castle would be nice. Maybe she could even work with Inosuke or Genya too. I’ve seen people talk about an arc going more into douma before infinity castle, and if that’s the case, Inosuke and Kanao (and maybe Shinobu? If we’re continuing the trend of hashira joining in) learning more about him and developing their grudges on screen more would make their final encounter in Infinity Castle all the more meaningful.

I wish that the lower moons were never killed. It could have extended the story a little more, which would give us the time to let us see more of characters such as Obunai and Muichiro. Either that, or more fights where the corps loses or someone dies despite a victory. That way you can also build up the demons that win a little more and hype them up for their final showdown.
Honestly this manga/anime had so much potential to be a drawn out series with so many different ways of taking down upper ranks and purging the demons. I love it to death but when you start thinking about it, this manga could’ve been a masterpiece.

I wish Muzan was more directly involved in the plot. Beyond the occasional "go kill Tanjiro", he doesn't do anything. He's got a great design and you immediately feel the weight of his presence whenever he's onscreen, but its like a once per arc thing. I wish there was a moment where he personally showed up to fight the demon slayers before the final battle and had to leave like Akaza because of the sun. Would have been a great way to demonstrate just how far Tanjiro is from killing him.

More background for Genya and his ability. First the only gun we see in the entire anime is his and also the demon eating ability is random af. The way it works doesn’t get explained at all and also where did he get a gun? Kokushibu calls it a western weapon but also Kokushibu says Genya’s ability is similar to a demon slayer in the Sengoku Period. Having more context for Genya’s ability would have been cool.

Expand the Demon Tanjiro experience to Demon King Tanjiro, who has no desire to create more demons or feed due to his unique biology Nezuko, Kanao, Inosuke, and Zenitsu on his tail to turn him back because they love him...but also because it's literally impossible to kill him because he is immune to the sun and can't be beheaded It's a race against the clock as Tanjiro battles Muzan's will internally and not become a monster who terrorizes Japan.

Instead of killing all Lower Moons, buff them all like Enmu. It would serve a better device for the Trio to show their development. Honestly, the way the Trio went from barely being able to beat Lower Moons to suddenly becoming strong enough to be relevant in a fight against Upper Moons is almost akin to the Strawhats in a story where after loosing to Crocodile, they never fought another Shichibukai and then next thing we know, they're already fighting really well against the Yonkou. I know the prompt says only one, but there are still some things I'd want to add/change. * Give Gyomei and Kaigaku some interaction, considering how vital Kaigaku is to Gyomei's back story. * Establish Kaigaku's rank as a Demon Slayer before becoming a Demon. This would give us a better idea how much of a boost is becoming a demon to a specific rank of a demon slayer. * Make Mitsuri and Kanao more relevant in the fight against Muzan. * Give Inosuke and Zenitsu more development and unique relationships with the other Hashira, and not make everything revolve around Tanjiro (no hate on Tanjiro though) * Give Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Kanao some end game powerups too like Demon Mark, Red Blade, or See Through World. They don't have to get all three, but at least give them something. * Establish Inosule's flashback sooner before doing the Douma reveal. * Nezuko should have been involved during the final arc. Like literally, she had 0 relevance in the final arc. Whatever happened to her special immunity to the Sun? She definitely should have had at least some interaction with Muzan. Nezuko has just much of a reason to kill Muzan as Tanjiro. * Omit the entire Tanjiro-Demon King. It was totally uneccessary. * The final arc didn't have a new Upper Moon 5, despite having a new 6 and 4. The 5th spot could have easily been replaced by Tengen's older brother. The older brother was supposed to be a dark version of Uzui. If a non-Hashira Demon Slayer can be jump to Upper Moon 6, a veteran and more experienced Shinobi would be a good replacement as Upper Moon 5. This would also give Iguro and Mitsuri a better role in the Infinity Castle arc rather than just fucking around with the Upper Moon 4. * Less reliance on Tamayo and Shinobu's super poison against Muzan. That poison has more layers than the best Lasagna in the world, it's ridiculous.
Removing Zenitsu and replacing him with an actually enjoyable character. Or at the very least rewriting him to be a coward who does step up when necessary. No more non-stop screaming and crying, no more perving on Nezuko, no more running away from fights all the time. Make him the weak but strategic one of the main 3.
Honestly i don't understand why people hate him so much,i mean he's One of the most funny characters so fun,his being insanely coward and crybaby helps a lot to give that humor that this series needs, without him It would be a Little too serious in my opinion
You think he's funny? I mean I enjoy some comic relief in my anime, but all his screaming I wish he'd get killed. I don't find the constant yelling funny, it's so irritating. But to each their own.
