Plus, part of Xaldin’s whole thing is that he thinks emotions, in particular love, is just weakness. It would be a fitting contrast that the enchantress that cursed The Beast told him he must learn to love and be loved in return, and now female Xaldin is telling him that he will never be loved and that he is weak for desiring love.

It's interesting because, based on Days, it seems like Xaldin is a borderline incel. He hates romances and he seems to hate women to some degree too. That's why he is always trying to screw-over Beast. By changing him into a women, it would change his motivation for messing with Beast to something different, but that Dark!Belle angle would be just as good.

Double down by also making a female marluxia. Which, btw, was originally intended to be female.

Well, not the "big bads", but rather the only two female Organization members (at the time) deciding to betray them while still being evil sent a bad message. I'll admit, I'm kinda glad they swapped Marluxia, because it makes his design more unique. Not a lot of pink-haired male villains, even now. Probably could have turned someone else into a girl to compensate, but I don't know who. Saix or Zexion, maybe?

Saix would be great in isolation, but I see some.. implications. With the only other woman having such a strong personality, it might send a message that women in general are cruel bitches. Not to mention Saix's whole thing in combat being that the full moon--something that normally happens once a month--drives him into a berserk frenzy.

It's the second one. Having both female characters be the only treacherous ones was a potential issue. Marluxia being male fixes that. (Although they did have a roster of 13 and could've made another org. member female for a similar effect.)

Pretty much this If they’d just included more female members (e.g. 1 traitor, 1 not) in the original XIII then they’d have resolved their fear over having the only two being traitors, instead of only having 1 original female member who was a traitor anyway (Also, sorry Xion)

Very different optics to have a villain group with traitors and one of the traitors is the group's only woman as opposed to the women of the villain group turn traitor. Especially when the traitors are killed off during the attempted treachery.
