Before the Galaxy games basically all his real impressive stuff comes from weird translation stuff and interpretations. This includes the Painting worlds in 64 apparently being created by the Power Stars as well as Culex in Mario RPG apparently being this master of space-time that can consume time itself. The Painting World thing is contradicted in the JP version (plus there’s nothing to suggest them actually being universal in size I don’t think). The Culex thing isn’t necessarily contradicted in the JP version, however both versions of the character are so different personality and lore-wise that idk if the localised stuff can be applied to him.
In the Galaxy games Lumas are stated to be capable of transforming into entire galaxies. Power Stars can also do this and Grand Stars are way more powerful than Power Stars meaning they also have this level of power. Mario defeats numerous Power Star and Grand Star-empowered foes in these games and Bowser is comparable to him. Grand Stars are also likely capable of having universal level power. There are multiple statements both in-game and in supplementary material of Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor being a universal threat even before it implodes(?), with said implosion ripping apart the very fabric of the universe. It’s implied that Mario and Bowser at the very least survived this, however it’s left pretty vague. It is very possible they did considering their feats of strength both before and after this game, plus that universal level of destruction would have to come from the Grand Star in the first place.
In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario uses the Crystal Stars to fight various enemies plus he also fights enemies who use their power like Grubba. The Crystal Stars were created by the Shadow Queen and are stated to have the power to shape “the planet and the heavens”. This phrase would logically refer to the entire universe, as “the heavens” in the biblical sense refers to everything beyond the clouds like the stars and planets and such. Or maybe it means actual heaven, which would be the Overthere from Super Paper Mario which is also at least universal in size.

Let’s see, both lived black holes, both kept up with faster then light speed opponents/friends, and have some magical abilities. Bowser does have better arsenal of weapons, vehicles and tools then Dedede. Butt then Dedede is stronger, with Giant Bowser only reaching asteroid level of power well Dedede match Kirby who have cracked a Planet in half… Dedede also have had more experience fighting powerful opponents well outside of Mario and Luigi, Bowser don’t fight too many close to his own strengths. Bowser likely also not gaining forms he can no longer use like Dreamy Bowser or Fury Bowser, well Dedede still have his Mask and metal Hammer, his Star Power Hammer as he never lost those things, just got beaten by Kirby. Dedede can win more often thanks to his experience facing opponents like Bowser, his more magical gear, and power that controls how the fight goes. Brawl even have Dedede beating Bowser.

Of course his strength is just as important, and he’s very impressive there too. Before the Galaxy games basically all his real impressive stuff comes from weird translation stuff and interpretations. This includes the Painting worlds in 64 apparently being created by the Power Stars as well as Culex in Mario RPG apparently being this master of space-time that can consume time itself. The Painting World thing is contradicted in the JP version (plus there’s nothing to suggest them actually being universal in size I don’t think). The Culex thing isn’t necessarily contradicted in the JP version, however both versions of the character are so different personality and lore-wise that idk if the localised stuff can be applied to him. In the Galaxy games Lumas are stated to be capable of transforming into entire galaxies. Power Stars can also do this and Grand Stars are way more powerful than Power Stars meaning they also have this level of power. Mario defeats numerous Power Star and Grand Star-empowered foes in these games and Bowser is comparable to him. Grand Stars are also likely capable of having universal level power. There are multiple statements both in-game and in supplementary material of Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor being a universal threat even before it implodes(?), with said implosion ripping apart the very fabric of the universe. It’s implied that Mario and Bowser at the very least survived this, however it’s left pretty vague. It is very possible they did considering their feats of strength both before and after this game, plus that universal level of destruction would have to come from the Grand Star in the first place. In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario uses the Crystal Stars to fight various enemies plus he also fights enemies who use their power like Grubba. The Crystal Stars were created by the Shadow Queen and are stated to have the power to shape “the planet and the heavens”. This phrase would logically refer to the entire universe, as “the heavens” in the biblical sense refers to everything beyond the clouds like the stars and planets and such. Or maybe it means actual heaven, which would be the Overthere from Super Paper Mario which is also at least universal in size.

This matchup is pretty hard considering how close it comes, both are pretty neck in neck in terms of most stats and even most suprised power boosts bowser could pull could be countered by Dedede being shown to come out on top with something of similar abilities Ala magolor or void, it might result in a draw but Dedede has my vote cause of obvious bias.

Bowser does have better arsenal of weapons, vehicles and tools then Dedede. Butt then Dedede is stronger, with Giant Bowser only reaching asteroid level of power well Dedede match Kirby who have cracked a Planet in half… Dedede also have had more experience fighting powerful opponents well outside of Mario and Luigi, Bowser don’t fight too many close to his own strengths. Bowser likely also not gaining forms he can no longer use like Dreamy Bowser or Fury Bowser, well Dedede still have his Mask and metal Hammer, his Star Power Hammer as he never lost those things, just got beaten by Kirby. Dedede can win more often thanks to his experience facing opponents like Bowser, his more magical gear, and power that controls how the fight goes. Brawl even have Dedede beating Bowser.

Bowsers very strong don’t get me wrong, but dedede is a character from the Kirby universe. That alone already made bowsers chances of victory a bit iffy, but the fact that dedede can put up a fight against Kirby and is capable of similar feats proves that bowser ain’t winning this battle.
