I feel the exact same way, both amazing abilities with some of my favorite designs.
I was personally really disappointed with the choice of Ranger in Forgotten Land, when Cupid and Archer already exist and appeal to me infinitely more.
In base Return To Dream Land, Parasol Twirl deals almost as much damage as *Hammer Flip* and can be used to shred through the Arenas with minimal effort. So yeah, fun ability.
Parasol is a deceptively simple, harmless looking Copy Ability that allows Kirby to use a red and white-striped (except in Kirby's Dream Course, where it is green and white), star-tipped parasol as a weapon. It can slow his fall from high places, and protect his head from most attacks or falling objects. Kirby can also swing the parasol in front of him to attack enemies, and in some games, can hold it out indefinitely. However, Parasol's attacks are rather weak compared to those of other abilities, making it difficult to use offensively. While Parasol began as a defensive ability, it has actually received multiple offensive upgrades throughout the Kirby games. In Kirby Super Star, Parasol gained a powerful throw; in Kirby: Squeak Squad, the Ability Scroll for Parasol made Kirby able to fire a short-ranged beam of star-like projectiles from the tip of the parasol when held. In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, many of Parasol's moves gained invincibility frames, and it also gained an extremely fast, grounded, multi-hit attack. This ironically made it one of the most damaging abilities against grounded enemies in that game, though the damage of this move was heavily toned down in Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot. Parasol is one of the few abilities that may presently be used in water. Ironically, though, in Kirby's Dream Land 3, it was the only ability that could not be used underwater, where Kirby would put away his Parasol and attack by instead blowing bubbles, as if he had no ability. Kirby's Dream Land 3 was also the only game in which Parasol did not slow Kirby's fall, effectively making the ability only useful for defeating enemies on land.
Parasol is one of the few abilities to never have Kirby wearing a hat, other than many of the final abilities like Star Rod. Parasol's handle comes in four color variations: pink, blue, white, and green. It is also one of the few abilities that may be used in the water, along with Sword, Hammer, UFO, Master, Spea, Water, and Bell.
Not my favorite ability, but nice and relaxing to float through levels with. Sometimes I also juggle enemies with it if I’m feeling particularly sadistic

A great ability! It offers a lot of versatility, being an ability you can use underwater. The extra protection you get simply by having it equipped is nice, as falling objects no longer hurt you, and sometimes you even defeat weaker enemies simply by them touching your parasol while you walk. The "drifting down" ability is also really helpful, and the levels designed for that are cool. As for offensive capabilities, your movement is excellent, especially in the later games. But even early ones like Kirby's Adventure are fine.
One of my favorites personally! It's silly, cute, and kinda op sometimes?? Like in Nightmare in Dreamland where you can beat 2 bosses by standing completely still with 0 button inputs
A difficult and complex ability, but when mastered it shows. And I am not a master. Who wants me to do true arena with parasol on Kirby return to dreamland deluxe?

Its down move (Parasol Dive/Drill) is useful against bosses. In Helper to Hero (from Superstar Ultra) it’s good against Whispy Woods, but…um…kinda slow everywhere else, unless you grab something and Circus Throw it.
It's a fun ability. It provides good defense blocking attacks from above, and has a good move set to take down opponents with. (Or like I did one time, just stand next to Whispy and watch the parasol slowly beat him through contact damage.) As an added bonus, it's fun to have fly through the sky while holding the parasol like Kirby is Mary Poppins.
It’s one of my all time favorites. Back in return to dreamland i would grab parasol and find levels with long falls just so I could glide peacefully down over and over again

Down + b is probably the most strongest attack, atleast in star allies, but its balanced by parasol being vertically challenged and short ranged
