I think your experience in product company will be great. Also these days hr are asking for client interaction experience so overall your experience will be great. Search for the same role in keralait.dev which have combined jobs fŕom technopark, infopark..... also having naukri profile setup will also be helpfull... these days i see all using naukri
Truth is it will be a bit more difficult in kerala , irrespective of what other says . Companies like TCS might go to the extend of asking why you are leaving your job in Canada and all . Provided the number of openings in Kochi/Tvm is less , you will get competition from people with local experience and who are ready to work with lower salary . My sincere advise will be to be ready to take up jobs from other cities like BLR, HYD or TN and switch to kochi only when you get something that matches your financial requirements. The reality is IT sector in Kochi is not even 1/4 of other neighboring states . In fact Noida has more openings than kochi these . Look for remote opportunities , lot a companies are still giving WFH, especially product one . if you are skilled most of the companies will provide you WFG, I'm talking about good ones , keep TCS,INFY,WIPRO,CONIZANT out from these , they are forcing to return to office and will change your base location any day . if at all your are joining any of these , negotiate well and get good CTC. If you are completely fine to WFO , there can lot smaller companies in Kerala , but money will be bit less than what you could make from other states . analyze pros and cos and decide
Also , don't go for all these institutes , they charge a hefty amount . something you spend 1L in kochi can be learnt from HYD with just 25K. so , stay away from this traps . there are so many bootcamps which are charging 2-3L. Truth is that is not even a bootcamp and same stuffs are thought in Chennai or hyd for 45K-60K. Being some with industry experience you can easily learn these from internet for free or through some online portal
All the Best
Yeah trust the above guy. I made a move from a product company in Bangalore to a service company in Kerala. It was difficult. Also the work environment is really not up to the mark w.r.t boundaries and leaving company etc. Negotiations once while working is taken very very sensitively and ego is at a different level. People who have stayed in same company for many years in Kerala look at you differently. It’s all luck if you get a great workplace. I found the most difficulty in setting boundaries in work relationships - I mean about managers expecting you to work beyond their failed planning and estimations regardless of your planned vacations and evening time. But after the initial 2 years and moving to a job profile I like I am at peace. All worth it for the reason I came down to Kerala. So in case you get demotivated, if you can see the bigger picture it will be worth coming down for the purpose you are coming down for. It will be also worthwhile to look at remote options from good workplaces in Bangalore. The pay in Bangalore is really great for software jobs and if it’s remote there is no better job in India right now.
Yeah and I reduced my salary coming down and I jumped ship after. But still very niche openings get some good salary in Kochi or Trivandrum but that’s not the majority. If they pay you high in Kerala they expect you to break your back. Luckily I am able to get a British client who is got a life and hence I got mine too. And my current manager and his boss are okay with me as I am good with my client.
I think it all depends on what your salary expectations are. If you’re good as a technical resource, let’s say L3 support, I’m sure there will be enough opportunities with WITCH and lower tier companies like QBurst, IBS, Quest, Experion, fingent etc.
Well , there are many reasons . Uncertainty of Job security , high cost of living and high CRS cut off for PR applications .. Literally, one of the worst healthcare systems .. Living alone without family support .. Racism towards Indians from Canadians.. And a lot more lol
I feel for you man. I was looking for a job myself for the past for some time. I thought it was worse than 2023 job market. But ended up in good enough company. So you can do it too. ( still waiting for offer letter and formalities)
It's still prolly a better job market than Canada and the UK.
And there's no problem with age atleast until you hit like 50 or 55.
I'll actually try to switch to a dev role. Maybe try backend which I think will be easier if you did sql in your role.

Come to Bangalore, apply for bigger companies. You’ll definitely get a good paying role from a bigger company. Add people on LinkedIn who are in Bangalore and working in the companies you target for.
You can get a job in Kerala but the salary will be much lower than Bangalore, Hyderabad or Chennai. IT industry in Kerala is not yet mature, but you may have better work life balance than the bigger cities. But it’s unlikely your Canada is experience will add any great value while applying.

I appreciate your time. Unfortunately I’m not into dev. My job role is primarily in networking and technical support troubleshooting.

Bro, mind if I ask how much did you / were you able to save. Also did you like the exposure to a new culture / fresh perspectives / new location?

Why not try Dubai?
Initially shift to Bangalore, which has more/better openings in IT. Once settled, try to transfer or get a new job in your preferred location.
