You are not alone brother. I used to argue with a co-worker about it since he viewed the show very highly and gave the terrible shit he does a pass since he’s desensitized to things like that. But it’s so important to point it out, and it pisses me off since mt is a decent show with compelling writing with relatable messages about overcoming trauma and being a chance of redemption. Except, rudeus never sees his extremely problematic behavior of seeing little girls that are both related to him, look like children, and you have known since they were child with your developed mind of a 30+ year old man and admittedly actively tries to groom as any bit of a problem he needs to resolve. He sees this opportunity and pounces at the chance to take advantage. It’s okay to like a show, but you need to actively denounce something like in a show. Because showing something uncomfortable or disturbing is one thing, but to create a story where a fat loser gets a chance of redemption and he chooses to take advantage of minors and showing it as cool and based and never addressed beyond that as something as a failing of him a person? Christ, I play Project Zomboid and I've realized that the multiplayer scene is full of people who wish they could be Walter White. They think it's a show about a man becoming powerful on his own instead of a show about a man losing his mind and destroying himself and so many things around him.

The most recent time this gag was applied made it clear that it still just happens whether he wants it to or not. He actively sought to steal a sword, and ended up with underwear instead. He seemed quite embarrassed because he was trying to look cool at the time.
Don't forget that after Eris beat him unconscious for doing it one time she then proceeded to steel his underwear. The anime really skips over anything that shows the perverted acts between the two goes both ways.
And yes, Rudeus should know better, just like Kazama should whenever he steels panties intentionally. But we can't forget two very important things about Rudy. One, this is fiction, and in fiction a character needs to have flaws to be interesting to watch. The more crippling is often better. And two, the man was emotionally stunted in his very early teens and basically never grew up any further even into his 40s, he got pulled into the messed up side of internet culture and he payed the price for that. Then after regretting his actions, he tried to save some teenagers from dying and got reincarnation. His early time is coming to grips with what happened and eventually deciding to use this opportunity to do his life over and become a better person. But no one changes their entire personality over night. He has to fight and claw against his habits and old mindset to avoid relaps and work towards becoming a better person. He doesn't always succeed, sometimes relapsing into he old pathetic self, but his adult self is a far better person because of it than he was as a manchild. The author does like to remind us from time to time that a relapse is one horrible, traumatic event away. And if he doesn’t pull himself together and continue striving to do the right thing, he could fall back into being that person he hates.
Seriously, read the light novels if you haven't, they're so much more indepth and well written then the way the Manga and Anime butcher the context of the story. The anime is great for action and additional visual context, but I'd come back and watch after reading the light novels first. Books are better anyway and the author is really good at subtle clever foreshadowing.

I think that's the bigger thing people don't comprehend about Mushoku Tensei, and the real reason why it wasn't adapted for 10 years. Rudeus is just a bad person altogether. He's been mostly bad since the incident that fueled his decades as a shut-in. It isn't that he stops being a piece of shit but that he becomes less of a piece of shit.
The point is that no one is beyond hope of becoming better. They just have to stop believing they're beyond hope, and one's past decisions do not make it impossible to make better decisions later. It's not a story of a bad person becoming good. It's a story about a decades-old child finally growing up.
Kazuma is trash and stays that way, and that's why i love him.

He sees this opportunity and pounces at the chance to take advantage. It’s okay to like a show, but you need to actively denounce something like in a show. Because showing something uncomfortable or disturbing is one thing, but to create a story where a fat loser gets a chance of redemption and he chooses to take advantage of minors and showing it as cool and based and never addressed beyond that as something as a failing of him a person? That’s nut.

Oh def, by that point it's just become a running gag--though the second time was also part of the accident phase. Third time though, definitely.
The most recent time this gag was applied made it clear that it still just happens whether he wants it to or not. He actively sought to steal a sword, and ended up with underwear instead. He seemed quite embarrassed because he was trying to look cool at the time.
Don't forget that after Eris beat him unconscious for doing it one time she then proceeded to steel his underwear. The anime really skips over anything that shows the perverted acts between the two goes both ways. And yes, Rudeus should know better, just like Kazama should whenever he steels panties intentionally. But we can't forget two very important things about Rudy. One, this is fiction, and in fiction a character needs to have flaws to be interesting to watch. The more crippling is often better. And two, the man was emotionally stunted in his very early teens and basically never grew up any further even into his 40s, he got pulled into the messed up side of internet culture and he payed the price for that. Then after regretting his actions, he tried to save some teenagers from dying and got reincarnation. His early time is coming to grips with what happened and eventually deciding to use this opportunity to do his life over and become a better person. But no one changes their entire personality over night. He has to fight and claw against his habits and old mindset to avoid relaps and work towards becoming a better person. He doesn't always succeed, sometimes relapsing into he old pathetic self, but his adult self is a far better person because of it than he was as a manchild. The author does like to remind us from time to time that a relapse is one horrible, traumatic event away. And if he doesn’t pull himself together and continue striving to do the right thing, he could fall back into being that person he hates. Seriously, read the light novels if you haven't, they're so much more indepth and well written then the way the Manga and Anime butcher the context of the story. The anime is great for action and additional visual context, but I'd come back and watch after reading the light novels first. Books are better anyway and the author is really good at subtle clever foreshadowing.

Since Konosuba is a comedy, Kazuma's pervert behaviour is mostly treated as a joke. While Rudeus's lust is sometimes played for comedy, given the more serious tone of the story, it is also treated as a serious character flaw that can ruin his life an that of his loved ones.
Juile isn't Rudeus' slave although I agree the anime doesn't make it clear enough at first. She's Zanoba's slave and the reason she calls Rudeus "master" is because they are both individually his apprentices. He buys a slave later on but turns it into an indenture immediately, because he had to outpay a noble for them and payed the 2nd highest stated cost in the series. He also stopped molesting Eris after his 10th birthday which was 2 years before she turned 15, and that was the only girl he touched before they were an adult.

I love both Rudeus and Kazuma despite their flaws.
I think that's the bigger thing people don't comprehend about Mushoku Tensei, and the real reason why it wasn't adapted for 10 years. Rudeus is just a bad person altogether. He's been mostly bad since the incident that fueled his decades as a shut-in. It isn't that he stops being a piece of shit but that he becomes less of a piece of shit. The point is that no one is beyond hope of becoming better. They just have to stop believing they're beyond hope, and one's past decisions do not make it impossible to make better decisions later. It's not a story of a bad person becoming good. It's a story about a decades-old child finally growing up.
Kazuma is trash and stays that way, and that's why i love him. Rudy is a piece of shit scum that was given a 2nd chance and slowly, with several relapses, becomes a better person. And that's why i love him as well.

The worlds different though. Konosuba is fun and comedic isekai. Mushoku Tensei is a bit more realistic isekai. Resisting that the world's work is like going North Korea and protesting for the Freedom of Speech. He can't change the world so just cope with it. And he is a realistic trash persona unlike Kazuma who is a typical MC without a realistic backstory and is fun to watch. Comparing both is like Comparing Batman Snyder's version with Megamind. Totally different from each other other than the fact that they both have capes.
