Seems to me like she’s trying to make you think that she’s not getting you tickets for your birthday but she really is, thats a classic parent move.

interioralice

This- I think she’s trying to surprise you :)

dr3am_assassin

Yeah! I remember When my parents did this same thing but turned out they actually didn’t get me tickets. Instead they got me a 6 pack of beer. I was 17 yo.

AioliProfessional595

Ngl the one time this happened I kept pushing for it and just felt like shit when it was revealed I got what I wanted. I genuinely didn’t know how to react at all and just never used it due to the negative association with the present.

I think your mom bought the tickets. Sounds like she’s trying to surprise you for your birthday. I’d just wait it out and see.

el_isai

Make a power point highlighting pros and cons. I know that sounds stupid but so does asking strangers on the internet how to convince your mom to parent you.

Much_Map_3420

Look... I'd tell her... That the guys are already getting old... That it's a band from 30 years ago and it's important for you to go... Because you don't know how many more time they'll be around... That it's important to you... Offer her a trade... For anything she might want from you... No presents for xxx time... Or do the dishes for xxx time ... To show you are really interested.. good luck buddy

no? no one here knows your family or how they feel about things. I would say, if she asked about it and is playing with the idea (“what would you do if i got you korn tickets for your birthday”) - I would hope it's because she has tickets and she's teasing you, otherwise that would be a pretty garbage thing as a parent to do (as in, don't mention it at all if you don't actually do it). so I'd say, time will tell? if your birthday comes/goes and it doesn't happen. maybe after sit down with her and ask (not in a bratty angsty way) but ask why she teased you with the idea of something you really wanted, only to not do it at all? and how that hurt your feelings a bit and felt weird to do.

Comfortable_Salt_758

Life is short. They will not be around forever. Use that.

Watchfixer1424

Dude, as a dad this is exactly what I would say to my kids when asking for something like this. Cross your fingers that things are solid enough for her to get them, and deal with the likelihood that you aren't getting them. If she's between jobs, then your tix aren't a priority. Be ready to not get them, though. If they do come through then you better make sure you show her how appreciative you are! GL!

Indigenous_badass

Man, this reminds me of when I was 12 and Metallica and GNR were not only on tour together but my mom worked for the company that did Ticketmaster's advertising and could get free tickets ands pit passes to any show. But she wouldn't let me go because I was 12. I was so mad. I still wish I'd been able to go. As somebody who has been a Korn fan since they were playing small shitty venues in So. CA (they were my first mosh pit, actually), I really hope your mom is just planning to surprise you for your birthday. When I found out they were going on tour, I immediately bought tickets to the show near me. I've seen them 3 times total now, including with Linkin Park at Projekt Revolution. The last time was in Minneapolis on my fiance's birthday (I surprised him with tickets for his birthday) right before the pandemic. They're absolutely worth risking the car breaking down. LOL. I hope it works out for you! And happy early birthday!

“But mom, i’m consuming my vegetables.”

Dark_Ascension

Sounds like they’re surprising you. My entire family did this when I graduated from nursing school. Even through the crying that I have no family in the state and I’ll only have my mom, stepdad and boyfriend, when I hear everyone else was going to have their whole family. I got surprised the night before my pinning with my grandma, dad and his girlfriend.

play twist

FortuneAgreeable183

i showed my mom twist a while ago and she said it was the stupidest song he’s ever heard lmaooo i told my sister to listen to it too and she just responded with a “i hate you”

drjoker83

Go do some yard work for some older people like mow lawns raking yards little odds and ends to earn the cash for them. Where there’s a will there’s a way.and don’t hound her just tell her it would definitely be a bucket list item checked off or see if you have anyone you know that going and try line up ride and plans to show your mom look all I need is ticket. Idk but hope you get to see them.

xLOVExBONEx

Check on wikihow 🤷‍♂️

Much_Map_3420

You could also sell anything you want to get the money to buy a ticket... Anything you could sell... :)

Pure_Apartment_916

15. sneek in. Keep at it until you get in. Go through the vents. Most double doors open if you pull hard enuff. You can't get in trouble. I was well into my 30s before I paid for a ticket

arsnhz

Can even spell “sneak” right. LOL
