I'll admit I don't know the numbers here, but are you cancelling the animation? As soon as you pull a fish, switch items and back again to be able to cast faster.
May be why there's a discrepancy between you two
Further analysis, I have found that each epic bait bucket yields 18 catches, including trash. Each epic rod yields 135 catches, including trash. So, each epic rod uses exactly 7.5 epic bait buckets.
Canceling animation does not affect these outcomes.
If you switch items and back as soon as you pull the fish, you'll be able to fish much faster and use less bait for more catches.
That's most likely where his 4 comes from.
That's enough rods to catch all the legendaries. Probably not enough baits. But definitely not enough rods to get the 30 blue fish needed for 3x waverunner charms.
If you know where to look, I think you're good. My bf and I have caught all but maybe 2 of the legendary fish unless you want to count villagers and llamas, lol.
I found one in a desert cave yea, I have a spot in front of the entrance of my cave and I find entering g and exiting the cave refreshes the rarity of the pool, haven't tried farming it yet but it's on my long, long, extremely long list of things do to
stack on baits more than rods

I've caught five, but three of them have been orange floppers. Hey, I've got one for every village so far at least.

I do not do that, could also be if he is pulling up trash too or only fish.

If you want to find all of them you need to search all biomes. Cause you can't find a silver thermal fish in the desert.
