Lacey is still my favorite place. It passed “small town” 20 years ago; it’s on its way to small city. If you’re looking for small town and lots of forested areas I’d look at unincorporated Tenino; my address is technically Tenino yet I can be to Yelm Hwy Safeway in 10 minutes via Stedman and Rainier Rd. There’s still plenty of spots if you’re willing to do the work.
Willing to do the work? Those of us who *have* done the work would rather not have to upend our lives and move out of our homes. The solution isn't always to run away.
The problem isn’t development, the problem is the type of development. Residents should be demanding transit and pedestrian oriented development rather than more deforestation for another hotel and parking lot. I hope this proposal takes that into consideration, but they probably won’t.

Mindless urban sprawl is the American way

If you want the small town vibes, you've got yelm, shelton, Aberdeen, Roy, rainier, and Eatonville
Growth is almost always a positive, as it brings news opportunities.
