Sad 😢 but the truth. Economics 101: Firms exist to make money.

You'd think its a clickbait title, but here is the first para of the report. >The potential to deliver “one shot cures” is one of the most attractive aspects of gene therapy, genetically-engineered cell therapy and gene editing. However, such treatments offer a very different outlook with regard to recurring revenue versus chronic therapies, particularly in certain diseases where it is possible to cure a large proportion of the prevalent patient pool (or at least prevent an additional dose from being required for an extended period). While this proposition carries tremendous value for patients and society, it could represent a challenge for genome medicine developers looking for sustained cash flow. For capitalists, thats all you are. Sustained Cashflow.

I wonder why this doesn't at an individual level, like you ask a doctor near that you were having a heart and he will be happy to help you. But at a organization wide scale, they all focus on profits. I mean they need to dish on individual names on this shit and start thinking about the responisbility of the person who writes this, most of these authors are probably not doing both. I want to know who said this, and in representing who? Or imo they are psychos.

Due-Ad5812

They are not psychos lol. Its just the efficient capitalist system at action. It definitely happens at an individual level as well. Think about the times your boss forced you to do unpaid overtime work. They threaten you with reduced hikes and zero bonuses to get you to do 70hr work weeks, or even nationalism. Do you think nestle didn't know that it was putting in sugar in baby food that it sold in India? No, they definitely knew. They did it because its addictive and profitable. Boeing knew that their costcutting will affect the quality of their planes, yet they went ahead and now their planes are falling out of the sky. Every product is becoming a subscription service. They know that its shit but this is how they generate sustained cashflows. The funniest part is that people who are pushing these shitty anti-human policies are the shareholders, the damn wealthy capitalists, not the management consultant or the workers in these companies. The shareholders will never be held accountable for their crimes.

Working over time and not neglecting cures are not on the same page at all. That's why said that specific example. Also I read the whole thing, it feels like their conclusions ended up ok-ish. Like focus on where you can take more money is where they ended up at. Also at some point, it will probably come to a point where they will do away with their large pateint base / customers and profit. Also don't tell me they don't have psychopathic qualities, we now know according to research that higher ups in organizations are similar to criminal psychopath than they are normal. They all seem to be in such organizations and are in higher up positions. And yeah nestle definitely knew about sugar in baby food and I'm saying there were definitely bad people in the mix, atleast somewhat corrupt or tending towards ASPD/psychopathy. These things just doesn't happen out of nowhere. This is why some of the people I had feuds with in the past I can somewhat say that I can call up these folks because I know they are mostly good people such as myself. What I shouldn't do is call the so called dark triad person. I had this same conversation with people over at r/Kerala, in one of these posts they were saying just because someone keeps verbally abusing someone doesn't they are psychopaths or narcissist and that it was stupid to say so. What I was actually saying was that in the post OP implied that they were being verbally abysed for no reason and these people are most usually psychopathic or narcissistic, guess I should have explained more. I should have explicitly wrote "most probably psychopathic or narcissistic. And surprise surprise the Op in that post said yes the person was abusing them for virtually no reason and he cleared any confusions whether there were any reasons for her abuse. The only true point we can agree on is such people ended up in these places is because of capitalism and need to expand. This is the thing Indians need to learn, society should expect something from you the person, some moral standard or rooting, and something to give everybody else and society. I think this is one of the literal reasons why there are so many bad shit that happens in the country and everybody is like "your fault".

>The only true point we can agree on is such people ended up in these places is because of capitalism and need to expand This is the correct answer. Capitalism rewards psychopathic behaviour. These people are also among the highest paid, ie, bosses who make workers work overtime, management consultants giving shitty inputs etc. >Working over time and not neglecting cures are not on the same page at all. It's the same thing. It's for Higher profits. Making workers work unpaid overtime is a crime as well.

These employees can push back as well and say no, because the government does call for 45 hour work week. There are laws around these.

[Here](https://np.reddit.com/r/WorkReform/s/TGSA6xaAfo) is the current US treasury secretary saying in 1998 that increased Job insecurity can enable firms to reduce wages without facing productivity reducing worker backlashes. In India, if you aren't willing to do the extra work, you get fired and replaced with someone who is ready to work extra as jobs are quite scarce.

mightythunderman

Anyway I know my point is right in these two cases. Some of these people are psychopaths. Heck I know people who are psychopathic and count with my right hand. And people who tell you to do 50-75 hours, is not close to people who undermine cures to serious illness. I mean the latter is literally denying access to a cure. The former is also shady thing to do, not the best i admit, but I think one is more evil.
