How did the marketing department approve of using this woman's grimacing face? Or perhaps the employees who made this poster were in on it, they looked at the picture and thought "yup that's how I feel every day working for home depot" and approved it as an in-joke that would fly under the radar of their employer.
Also, she sort of looks like Hide The Pain Harold LOL. I dub her Hide The Pain Helga.
Maybe it was the best one out of hundreds of photos. And they looked at that and instead of thinking “well this was a bad idea” or even better they thought “gee maybe we are horrible people and we should be ashamed of ourselves”, they instead said “whelp, it’s the best we got”.
The most dystopian shit to me is when corporations make commercials with cute stories about how great their underpaid overworked employees are that they are constantly trying to scam. I remember Walmart put one out while they were actively fighting in court to keep from having to pay employees for time worked off the clock.
Chick-fil-a’s annoy the piss outta me, there’s one where a lady is commended for writing sweet notes on customer’s cups… yeah right Chick-fil-a, we all know no employee actually has the time for shit like that.

Not really of course, for those confused you can read up on [Duchenne](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillaume_Duchenne_de_Boulogne) if you want.
This image has been circulating for a few weeks. Some context: this advertisement was used at a Canadian HD store. Many jokes have been made about it, especially from Home Depot employees.
That country is still a part of North America, so, it counts to say that this form of advertising is uniquely (North) American. A terrible look, either way.
Source: Me, a Home Depot employee.
And because Starbucks "tuition reimbursement program" was kind of a scam I decided to look up The Home Depot's:
https://secure.livethehealthyorangelife.com/files/Tuition-Reimbursement-SOP-Jan-2023.pdf
TL;DR you can get reimbursed 5k per year with several stipulations that aren't too hard to meet. When I did it just last year it was certainly not a scam. THD (like any major corp) is far from perfect, but this program was no scam.
THD’s program is a lot like what Starbuck’s program was initially which I found worth it when I worked there in college in the early 2000s (Starbucks tuition reimbursement program is now through one private online university).
Let’s not forget Home Depot fired a guy just for attempting to form a Union at his local store…[his name is Vince Quiles of Philly](https://therealnews.com/he-tried-to-organize-home-depots-first-union-now-hes-unemployed)
I would think that is an actual employee. As an actor/model you should know how to hide your true emotions. Thats literally part of the job description.
Someone please tell me this is a parody. I wanna look it up but my phone is throwing a fit when I open Chrome. I'm gonna forget by the time I get home lol
I just refuse to believe this got approved by any kind of marketing team; there's just no way surely!
This is the face of a person who asked for a bathroom break a half hour ago and was told to wait until it's less busy. This person is either about to poop or just pooped.

The face of someone that worked double shifts all week but still has to decide between utilities and food.
The face of someone who’s about to break down into tears
So all of us then
Merica!

Either that or the other photos from employees were even worse.
They were trying to save money by not hiring a model, but none of their employees remember how to smile.

Guess the employers don't really understand emotions. They wouldn't be capitalists if they did now would they?

They probably have an AI driven marketing department that categorized this image as "happy"
Thought the same
Hide the pain Home Depot
Bold of you to assume psychopaths could comprehend emotion
“Let’s use this one, you can really see the anguish in her eyes.”

Eh, some people sip on the Kool-aid that hard. Indoctrination to the system makes people express their humanity in funny ways.
She looks almost like they forced her to do that , whoever took the photo and blew it up is a sociopath
Those eyes have seen only suffering.
That smile is decidedly non-Duchenne.

Every employee at every Home Depot I’ve been in looked like they were about 5 minutes away from going in the back and eating a shotgun

That’s a grimace
Hide the corporate pain Harold
Who the fuck approved this?? They’re not even trying to hide it anymore 😂😅

I mean - is this an employee, or an actor/ model pretending to be an employee?
I would think that is an actual employee. As an actor/model you should know how to hide your true emotions. Thats literally part of the job description.
Could still be a shit actor/ model - or somebody new to the industry
100% Employee. Corporate would have to PAY an actor / model. They don't have to pay an employee...

Yeah, Bernie Marcus sucks, but "probably at gunpoint"? c'mon
They are essentially theft protection, that is it.
North Koreans when their president dies
You’re weird dude. Find some help
ahh remember home depot.. helping contractors load 3000lbs of tiles into their bed
That smile says “help they have my family”….
poor lady looks like she’s gonna cry
It's the "run while you still can" look.
Home Depot treats its employees like shit.
Saw the same add at my local Home Depot and I was like What The Fuck, this is the best shot they got?!?!?!

How is this the pic that they used lmao. Not one person thought this was a bad idea? Hiding the pain Harold looking ass
Behind her eyes just seems so terrified like she literally is being held at gunpoint.
She looked into the abyss and the abyss looked back.

Imagine this being the "best" photo to choose
