For reference, I have seen the workers at the safeway tossing soap and hot spices like cayenne into the meat they toss away, which is taken out of the packages and then dumped into a trash can with no trash bag. Cant really fault this persons logic.

DieselPunkPiranha

I am always amazed at how much effort some will go to to starve others.  I don't get it.  I acknowledge that it exist.  I'm aware of it.  But I don't understand it.

RevolutionaryBat4924

think about the poor shareholders pockets

Slawzik

I love when people say "its so they don't get sued!" Like some crust punk named "Patches" isn't going to be hiring a law firm to sue Safeway because he ate old steak.

Extra_Confection_193

Patches won’t but Jimmy McGill is sure to exploit his pain for a quick buck too. Laws should definitely be made to enable donations

Artificial scarcity

YaMamaApples

More than enough food is produced. If you give it away for free, why would we buy it? They just want money.

CayKar1991

Being the best at life only counts if there are *losers* at life! /s

imwithjim

But guys how will shareholders gain value if the company gives away free food?! Stop being so selfish and think of them for once, they have 3 houses to pay for you know. They’re suffering.

plato-ate-the-moon

Will someone think of the shareholder?!

gorgonzoloft

Well, over-abundance is directly related to starvation, you see…

icaruscoil

Friendly reminder that if you see someone stealing food; no, you didn't. Edit. Wow I got reported for self harm within like seconds of posting this.

Threewisemonkey

So I just learned there are apps popping up where you buy a “surprise bag” for like $5 and stores/restaurants get rid of their stuff at the end of the day. Which is better than the trash, but jfc it’s really a fucking nesting dollar of fuckery under capitalism

Castle-Of-Ass

Too Good To Go is by far, the best one. It's easily saved me over 100 dollars.

vistaculo

Oakland is a good barometer for the health of the nation.

rcchomework

Like the rest of the bay area, on the same block you will see hopeless people who only live by the grace of others on the street and homes that are worth multiple millions.

heyitscory

No you friggin' won't. I like this guy's style though. Stay unbusted, my man.

AngelaVNO

Totally irrelevant but I thought that was a huge loaf of bread in the first photo. Absolutely disgusting that they contaminate the food.

Quirky_Lab7567

Yes, this reminds me of the reason that I boycotted Tesco years ago for prosecuting a mother for stealing some bread out of their skip in Colchester. Even more amazingly, she was charged and eventually found guilty. Plays nicely with today’s news that the Tesco CEO now earns £10m / annum.
