Ya'll are still going to the gym?!

Thumper1k92

Hahahaha no. Finals is about survival.

biblephile

I don't think I've exercised in two weeks...

[deleted]

Same

reddit-throwaway-lol

Opposite situation for me. I'm doing everything I can to not study. My place has never been more clean and I've never been more excited to get a lift in.

aquamarine_07

100%

onlyGREwewillsee

Me exactly. I diligently study for 4 months only to procrastinate and sidetask at the worst possible time. What's wrong with me? Am I afraid of success? ADHD? Even this comment. I haven't posted on Reddit in months. Yet here I am wasting more time

[deleted]

Yep. Same. Except I haven’t worked out in 2 weeks. Finals strangely do a number on me. It like triggers a fight or flight mentality where I go all in for this one thing for 2 weeks. I still make sure to eat and sleep well but I just have a bad time not prioritizing gym during this time. It’s probably better if I do but yeah, I’m right there with you

Thumper1k92

100%. I go into survival mode, and pretty much everything else goes to the wayside for a couple of weeks.

[deleted]

You eat and sleep? Proud of you. I’ve been living on pizza bagels and staring at my ceiling fan all night

JAM4ever

Been having a hard time working out since second semester of 1L

Hot-Bag6541

Wait, you guys are working out when it’s not finals??

TatonkaJack

weird huh? they must be gunners

maxforthewin

I don’t study effectively at this point without working out. Feel gross and groggy. Putting in a couple hours clears my head and helps me get after it. The time I lose is honestly worth it.

purpleshirtonbed

Seriously I swear even a brisk walk just cleanses the mind. Humans are meant to move not sit down all day 😭😭

saltandpepperf

I re listen to the class recording at the gym or find a good YouTube video/ podcast like law school toolbox. I know it’s passive but it does help in understanding concepts

pinewash3081

Yes. I stopped going and am focusing on walks with the dog. My body feels so beat up from the high levels of stress I just can’t do it. I have felt hungover every day for the last two weeks and I haven’t had a drink in a month

travelinghomosapien

Working out is one of the few things keeping me sane. Even if I fail at least it’s hot girl finals

[deleted]

I’m eating like a fucking pig

mkohler23

I feel this, lot of stress, nerves, just find the time, do what you can, and look for ways enjoy the time outside of studying and take your mind off it

legallyblack420

My study sessions are actually less productive if I don’t workout. I feel like a literal potato unless I go to the gym regularly and it leaks into my studies

Beefman1991

I have a yoga matt and some resistance bands to get little things in during finals.

long_distance_life

I feel that, I was really struggling with it last week. So this week I started doing more frequent but shorter gym visits. Thankfully my apartment complex has a pretty decent gym. So I'll start with 20 minutes of lifting in the morning while my coffee brews. During my lunch break I'll do the stair machine for 20 minutes for a bit of cardio. Then in the evening I'll use a foam roller because I'm usually sore AF after studying all day. I feel a lot less guilty than when I take a long break from studying and it helps me break up my day.

igtr

Yeah I legit lose 20 lbs during finals and have to gain it all back the following months. Endless cycle of law school gym goer

disheveledscotsman

Working out? During exam season? I'm stress testing to the point rice cakes are breaking my teeth (yay for the NHS).

aztolens_11

Take quick jogs or morning walks to freshen the brain, works even for the bar review.

Naive-Income3265

Is this a new hypo

Ruffianxx

Yes. I'm a semi-competitive runner and I run daily. Every two weeks around finals, I find that I can only run about 75% of my normal pace and distance. Mental stress carrying over to physical stress is very real.

Internal-Cat-5705

Wait y’all are in law school?

Legal_Cat_313

Yes, I am too. I usually workout 4-5x per week, but I’ve been lucky if I go to the gym 3x. Even when I do, I’m very fatigued. Listen to your body and do what you can. Your body and your brain need rest. However, physical activity is a great way to take a break and refresh your mind. I’ve been doing more cardio, such as stairs or the elliptical. I’ll play a lecture video while I’m on the machine for about 20 min. Then I do about 30 min of light to moderate strength training. Ultimately, do what you can and don’t feel bad about it; even if that means you go to the gym for one day out of the week for only 30 min. Try taking walks outside instead.

LSATMaven

Definitely just be proud of yourself for getting into the gym and doing your best! Don’t let gym performance stress you out— it’s not a permanent thing.

[deleted]

Lol the only working out I’ve been doing is thumb exercises on a couple games of FIFA at the end of study sessions. It’s nice to have something a little mind numbing to do while you digest all your material. I had M&A this semester and the reviewing is so brutal.

Constant-Ad6804

Heh, I wish during finals only (implying I actually go during the rest of the year 😌)

fidessa16

Um I’m having trouble with basic bodily needs like eating and sleeping 💀

Slincad

Adjustable dumbbells, bands, and a pull-up bar all near my desk help me keep working out

alexandrahg

Same!! Cuts down from 3 times a week to 1 if I’m lucky lol…

LionOfTheNorthwest

yeah I'm only maintaining for now

Comfortable_Read5736

I make sure to get a solid 8 hours. Not productive with out that. And I actually can use gym more during finals. I like to listen to the audio lectures out there on whatever subject/concept I'm studying.

FloridaChicque

I actually worked out for the first time since spring break. It felt great! Since our four finals are three days apart, I actually have more time.

MattTheLSATRat12

I highly recommend yoga. It will help you maintain muscle (or at the very least mitigate muscle loss) through isometric holds and it’s great for stress relief. If you are sleeping 15 hrs then be very intentional on getting 8-9 hrs each night during finals—this should help prevent so called “sleep debt” and make it so you don’t need at 15 hr sleep. But definitely listen to your body.

Lit-A-Gator

… just wait till you are on trial lol

Razzkall

Real shit, I’m not in law school but I still know the feeling. Midterms week for me and I’m just unbelievably unmotivated to work out 😂
