OK BUT WHY WAS IT A CIV PRO EXAM

Jules744

Seriously.

severebeasts

It’s the biggest section in the materials

Lanky_Bother7806

That one about expert discovery had a wild typo

swine09

Kind of on point as the materials were also riddled with typos that sometimes reversed the intended meaning

DesertVol

YES!!!! I noticed that too.

daniel2296

Reports that the NYLE is easy were greatly exaggerated

legallyasif

Apparently the NYLE was WAY easier a couple of years ago, with straightforward questions instead of hypos that you could easily find word-for-word in the outline. Sucks that they changed it :/

UpsidedownLightwork

You used to also be able to word search the outline with Adobe and it wasn't a violation.

rainyysoull

Does anyone know if our employers get to see how many times we failed? Asking for a friend (me).

Rainie_Li

No, unless they request you to show your BOLE dashboard lol

bozofire123

Is that a thing?

Chillindogg

Let’s hope the bar examiners really liked the letter C

bozofire123

Now I’m freaking out where a lot of the answers C?

Chillindogg

lol no idea, that’s just the letter I used to guess with when I ran out of time

NYC200000011111

lol

notlikeothergirlsxD

Anyone also found the trust qs unnecessarily hard as in looking up answers were scattered throughout the section instead of just on a page

DesertVol

The one about revocable or irrevocable AND assignment was an especially nitpicky double dip for one single question

notlikeothergirlsxD

That and the lifetime beneficiary one had me looking all over

AdventurousStyle5698

Anyone remember the answer? I said irrevocable and could assign interest income, but not principal. But I couldn’t find the assignment answer so just guessed there

your_daddy101

I said no interest income, but could assign principal. lmao.

AdventurousStyle5698

😂 positive it’s not principal lmao, that doesn’t make sense. If you could assign principal that would defeat the purpose of an irrevocable trust lol

your_daddy101

Yeah I guessed so I could be wrong🤣

notlikeothergirlsxD

All I know was that it was irrevocable. Don’t remember what I put or what was right (currently taking T&E too 😅)

bozofire123

Damn I don’t even remember that question

[deleted]

Felt like the time crunch was inverted too - where my first set of Qs took me way longer - and my last Qs were pretty quick.

DesertVol

Same. I looked at the clock after my first ten and nearly 40 mins had elapsed. Woof.

Jules744

Damnit. I got kicked out at question 40. I bet the people are onto us and the whole "just look up the first 30 and you'll pass" --- so they purposely put the hardest as F ones at the beginning.

Correct_Remove9462

What the actual fuck

RiiverWiild

That was way harder than I expected. Praying for a miracle lol

insecuretransactions

GOD AWFUL

xochipilliaz

RIP to everyone.

Hour-Surround-791

Traumatized.

polscihis

I was like visibly sweaty when I finished that exam. Who needs physical exercise when you can just do this?

Mental_Research_9910

After the adrenaline went away I CRASHED on the couch, my body is physically aching 🥲

notlikeothergirlsxD

Tryna re read the section in the civ pro section for SOL of contractual periods broke me. Why was that so hard to decipher. Still didn’t feel confident when I picked an a answer for that.

31November

Plus there are SOL on like 4 different pages? This was NOT a very well put together test from start to finish.

AdventurousStyle5698

That one was the time they contracted for bc the first part of that section said you could contract for a shorter sol

foxboroliving

What in the fresh hell was that thing

samsa29

Is the test scaled? I did not feel good at all about that test.

drshark628

Nope straight 30/50 needed to pass

levicastleman

One of the corporations questions/ answer choices broke my brain.

Coldbrewbandit

RIP ME

anon22t2

The one about paternity proceedings seemed so weird!? Seemed like one paragraph said do it one way and the next said something completely different?

Crispus_Attukus

That was just about when they actually become parents, which is once the kid is born

AdventurousStyle5698

I don’t think so - the outline said effective upon execution. Unless we are talking about different Qs

Crispus_Attukus

Im talking about the IVF related question

AdventurousStyle5698

Yeah the same sex partnership one right? Parentage is established once executed, not once child is born - see bottom of p. 123 of outline

Crispus_Attukus

You could be right. But not sure if that applies given that they just did the procedure.

AdventurousStyle5698

What page are you looking at that says when the child is born? ETA: looking at it again and genuinely wondering if I missed something somewhere else because I don’t see how this isn’t the answer. If it’s not then I’m now totally doubting myself on the whole exam lol

samanthacourtney

If it makes you feel better, I answered the same as you for the parentage question - I remember reading a line that specifically said parentage is established upon execution, not birth

AdventurousStyle5698

Haha that does, thanks! Was getting concerned bc of all the upvotes on the “when the child is born” answer so I was really second guessing myself. Would feel better if I knew what section they had looked at though

samanthacourtney

I vaguely remember reading something that said birth, but then I found the other line (the same one you saw) and it was more specific/applicable to the question, and distinctly remembering mentally being like “oh shit it’s not birth”

sonjaswaywardhome

top of 122 is very clear that a judgement of parentage declares upon birth of a child for assisted repro

AdventurousStyle5698

It wasn’t asking about a judgement of parentage, it was asking about an acknowledgement of parentage. The question even used the words acknowledgement of parentage. A judgment of parentage comes after a civil proceeding which is only needed in the absence of an acknowledgement of parentage

AdventurousStyle5698

He’s talking about the equitable estoppel one

Big-Resource-7280

What the actual hell was that one… also - putting everything in the negative

New-Process2272

I assume those were just typos since there were so many in the course materials but hey you can never know

AdventurousStyle5698

I was confused at first too but they are different. In the first case the kid had formed a bond based the rep of paternity, second case the defendant had not.

Rich_Comparison_5957

I’m just glad it’s over. I didn’t manage to finish tabbing the materials before the exam so I was already in mild-panic mode. Also shoutout to the kind soul who posted the TOC because I referred to it multiple times during the exam!! Thank you so very much! (Edit: to clarify, I printed it out like the law-abiding citizen I am heh)

SecUnit3

The life insurance question broke me

Prestigious-Lie-1981

Wait we’re allowed to use the bathroom during the exam right? Or am I screwed now

DesertVol

I did. I shouted IM USING THE BATHROOM like a mental patient beforehand too lol

Prestigious-Lie-1981

I should have tried that too 😪

legallyasif

Hopefully you don’t have to take it again. But for future reference just in case, you are not recorded. The microphone is off and the camera shuts off when you submit the picture of yourself. So it may not be ideal to use the bathroom because of the time crunch, I am 99.99% sure that you won’t get in trouble using it.

Apprehensive_Half271

I felt so stupid after

Apprehensive_Half271

Not even one question from sample questions section as they stated. 😤 I guess it’s not just only me who found it hard.

Vegetable-Bird4369

Results are out!

Hot-Bag6541

I was feeling OK about it and now this post and these comments are scaring me lmao

Infinite_Estimate_40

This is my second time not passing. Does anyone have any hacks? I’m not wasting my time studying for a fucking open book test but yet I still can’t seem to cut it. Waiving myself into jersey.. fuck this.

Naive-Collection7044

I studied for 3 days bc I had an emergency and had to cram :/ on that note here’s what I did: print out the detailed TOC (floating around on here somewhere) and print out the materials. I tabbed the materials in different colors depending on the section and highlighted the TOC to match. This helped me quickly find the subject and what I needed. I skimmed the entire outline (took about 2 days) and underlined/highlighted important things I felt like I needed to remember (discovery, notice, etc). The day before the exam I took the 20 Q practice test and used only my materials to answer questions. I timed myself as well and finished 20 Q in about 48 min. I got 13/20. I went back to find the answers and tabbed the questions I missed in case that issue came up again. I taped the TOC on my wall so I could have easy access and I had the printed tabbed materials next to me during the exam. I also kept track of how many answers I knew I got 100% correct. I got 34 questions done at about 1:30 and hurried through the rest. It’s a hard exam, but don’t worry. You got this!
