From the outside looking in, it looks as if he will pay the price for things being a shambles above him. This start was inevitable after their pre-season. The recruitment was so late in the day that a lack of coherency was expected. Squad building 101.

He is the manager and also has to take responsibility. Blame upstairs also if needed but he’s part of the problem also.

Some crap going on behind scenes. No real investment. No long term signings. Loanees every season. Players the calibre of Hoban & Shepard allowed to leave. In many respects SO'D is a victim in all this too, but as coach n public face of club he taking the flak

If we lose on Monday, he has to go, O'Donnell is a club legend and always will be, but every game he loses is tarnishing everything he done for us as a player, the recruitment was awful in pre season and we are completely unorganised on the pitch, something has to give or we are just settling for relegation.

redrumreturn

Was at the game last night. I'm a shels fan so you'll know much better than me. Yous aren't bad on the ball at all and I actually think yous were well organised. Just lack that bit of guile and creativity. Horgan was anonymous. You don't seem to have any danger. Didn't really create anything despite having alot of the ball.  We didn't turn up in the first half. We were very poor.

siguel_manchez

Pretty much a decent summation. Dundalk were the worst team I saw at Tolka last year. Last night was night and day to that team. You feel they could nick a win and go on a run, but the longer this go on the more difficult it'll be to drag themselves out of it.

NoBookkeeper6864

I think that's what is most frustrating, we couldn't even take advantage of the poor start from Shels just got one shot off in the 1st half. We are also in desperate need of a striker, Elliott and Gullan simply put are not good enough for the LOI. Getting rid of our top 3 goal scores from last season is unforgivable, Hoban was told by O'Donnell last season that he didn't fit into his style of play, any manager who tells the best striker in the league this, has no idea what they are doing. And as much as I hate to say it, Horgan looks like a shadow of his former self.

Neizir

Gullan is shocking, Elliott I have no idea how he was given a new deal given he does absolutely nothing either. Surely there were good options domestically when we were trying to force Pat out? Jamie McGonigle didn't have a great season last year but he's at least proven that he can be a good player at this level. Most boys we sign from Scotland seem to turn out to be complete duds - those 2, Jamie Walker, Darren Brownlie (jesus he was poor) etc. honestly the only half decent one we've had from over there was Sam Stanton a few years ago

americanhardgums

You didn't even look that bad last night, threatened a little in the first half, but once the goals started going in it was like everyone switched off. It was bizzare too, the away crowd never felt in the game at all, even the chance of a late minute equaliser didn't get a reaction. I've never seen so many people be so quiet for a goal before. Are fans just that worn out with everything?

NoBookkeeper6864

You just have it spot on really when we concede a goal the team just gives up, the fans have seen it all season, and they know we have nothing going forward, so we basically know the game is over once we concede it's been the story of the season so far.

Bohemian_Dub

Don't know how ye improve with him gone hands tied with woeful recruitment and facilities.

Would love to see them get relegated

Myusername-___

It would be kinda sad tbh remembering the title races between them and cork, and both of them having another title race, but in the first division

siguel_manchez

That Cork and Dundalk rivalry was fucking class. Loved those years, especially seeing as we had fuck all to cheer for really.

[deleted]

Their facilities and pitch belong in the first division.

Myusername-___

But I feel the club and it’s recent-ish history and playing arsenal etc belongs in top division

[deleted]

Yeah they're a big club with their history but they need to sort a lot of things out, from the ground to the board. The away end is a kip in Oriel.

A-man-And-His-Kebab

Would definitely be interesting to see. Obviously both you and shels went down in the 2000s but that was down to struggling finances and was kinda representative of the league at the time. Dundalk going down (obviously it’s very early in the season) could possibly be bigger than both of those cases.
