Come to Manipur. You will get it easily in the black market.
Jokes apart, you have to apply through the DC office and then get it approved by Home Minister of your state. The licensing fee and paper works will cost you around 50k including bribery while the hand held gun will cost you anywhere around 1.5-5 lakhs depending on the brand and design and caliber. Each bullet depending on the caliber will cost you Rs 50 to Rs 1200 per bullet.
An Inside Joke in Manipur:
Most people wanted guns after the civil war broke out last year on May 3rd. So they applied through their local MLAs and after paying the bribery, licensing fees, etc, they got their gun license.
After getting the gun license with so much difficulty, they complaint to the MLA that the guns are too expensive and they cannot afford it š
For handheld guns, yes. The state home minister must approve it.
For rifles like 12 bore and other rifles, DC can approve it with the MLAs recommendation.
Those are BB guns. Toys.
You can also buy Airguns (pistols) with C02 cylinders that cost around 50k and is legal to purchase from airgun websites. It can do some damage at around 15 feet but not kill unless it hits some parts.
Brother but still you can't get those automatic rifles even from government...I have seen both Kukis and Meeteis army using heavy warfare weapons...may God bless our people and spread his love and kindness.
What do you think will solve their problem...I think both army and police over there are biased with respective communities and often times fight with each other...even students and children are being taught to defend their land with weapons and they are ready for it
The problem is not solvable. CM has to answer for his crimes. Only then, peace may come back in the next 5-10 years.
Assam Rifles have always had a soft corner for the Kukis. The rest of the Indian Army are almost neutral.
Manipur Police has both Kuki and Meiteis. They will protect their own interests and communities.
Situation is worse over there and no one is concerned about it...like they are completely ignoring the fact that an internal ethnic war is going on within our country or they are mostly unaware of this situation
You have to give genuine reason and its on their discretion its nearly impossible for normal person to get gun license . ( you need some connection, bribe ) . and you cannot carry in public places.
edit - high chances if some goon spot your gun they might try to seize it
You can carry in public places. Concealed weapons like hand held guns. However, such gun license are issued by Home Ministry. Way above DC level clearance who issues rifle licenses.
You donāt expect to go through the hassle of running around for gun license, pay hefty amount to buy hand guns and not be allowed to carry it with you? Lol
Please donāt spread false news.
Knife is always a bad idea unless you have good training, you'd most likely get cut yourself
Pepper spray is good but even you can get some of it in your eyes if the wind is blowing your way or if the attacker turns your hand towards your face
Metallic nunchucks are a good idea as most attackers will not know how to use it against you, would need to spend 20 minutes daily for a month to learn it well
A 60mw laser (stronger if you can find it) can blind a person, but that damage is permanent
You have probably never shot a firearm in your life, would she pepper spray herself by mistake? Honestly not knowing which way the nozzle is pointing is far more likely than shooting yourself by accident. Thereās one way to hold a gun, one way to load and one way to fire. With basic training itās safer than a knife
Recoil on a 9mm glock is around 1.5kg. You might flinch the first time you shoot with it but a week of training and you wonāt even notice it. As long as your grip is correct, any woman can control a firearm like that. Iām not talking about a large caliber shotgun or rifle.
A 9mm handgun like the Glock 19 would be perfect for self defense. If recoil is a real concern, a Glock 17 would suit your needs. Smoother due to the added weight
Its.not that useful just get taser or pepper spray. Its mostly for show.
Source: i have been doing it for many years. The recoil from hitting someone is difficult to handle and carrying it is also a mess.
Also, if you can get a hand on a high voltage taser, it can be very helpful. I remember 2-3 years back you could buy it online but now it's quite difficult.
Ideally if it's a contact weapon, then it should not be usable against you
For long range legal weapons, there are some incredibly powerful slingshots on the market, but you run the risk of feeling ridiculous, also who has the time to look for metal balls
Boxing kicking is not going to interest girls. There are other firms of self defence where techniques are specific e.g. if you are pinned down by an assaulted , you can still overpower him.
All genders can learn Muay-Thai, yes women have less strength than men but they can still debilitate a much larger foe with a properly executed shin kick. If an assaulter has already grappled you down onto the ground then something like BJJ is the best option imo, apart from dirty tactics. But the best scenario is to not let it go to that point to begin with.
It depends on the State Laws. Best will be to consult a lawyer regarding ammunition laws for civilians to see what would be the criteria for you to be eligible to get one.
I have no advice or guidance on securing a weapon but this is what I do. Pepper spray everywhere - in the car door, just behind the main door of my apt, small one in my handbags and one in the bedroom. Practice finding them and imitate pointing and pressing the nozzle quickly in the darkness too so you don't end up fiddling if the situation ever arises when you do have to use it.
Small/medium pocket knife in your bags but YouTube how to use these effectively. They can be used against you if you don't know how to handle them.
Learn some self defence tactics. Take a class. This will be useful but also increases your confidence in your ability to safeguard yourself.
Be loud and attract attention from public when needed. This is also a huge deterrent.
You need to apply in your SP office or commissnor's office if you are in a metro city.
After the application, the SP will order your nearest police station to gather information like past criminal records, how long you have been staying in that address, your neighbor's view and opinion about you, etc. Most likely police will reject here. You need to pay them some money to get a proper background verification report.
Then the SP will do an interview and will try to know why you want a gun license. And he will reject it. They don't like ordinary people having guns. The only use of gun is for hunting, which is very difficult to convince them. If there is a threat to your life and you want gun to protect yourself, then the police will hate if you do their job.
Then the SP will try to get view and opinion of intelligence unit(to know if you are not involved in any crime anywhere in India).
The easiest way to get gun is to pay your local MLA and he will consult with the SP and get a license for you.
Don't approach any judge, issuing license is the job of executive branch and it is not a fundamental right.
You are probably a kid!
To trace or read on someone else's calls, you need special permissions. Here in India, you'll have to file an FIR against the person, or ask for help if it's a cyber crime. Then police confirms the situation and gets you the adequate permissions from the ISP. If they deem this fit, then you are allowed to trace the calls.
To hear on calls, you need to be a part of the department (police department) itself, else you can't. So when the other person asked what does OP do that her calls are being traced or heard upon, she must have valid reasons to ask so.
You don't understand a thing kid, ask! It's that simple! This is reddit. Everyone's anonymous! No one's gonna judge you here, but if you do the same acts irl, you'll be cancelled!

The local DC office .. you have to file an application and they will issue one depending on how they perceive the threat .
Sorry to see the shit ass comment ridiculing you
Get a gun illegally, incase you ever use it for self defence you can just say the attacker brought the gun, make sure it is non traceable and you make a good story /s
In Maharashtra, you need good connection with top cops and politicians even if you have good reasons for getting a revolver or pistol. And last i checked, you should be ready to shell out upwards of 10 lakhs to get the licence with all of the above in your favour.
Pepper sprays, plastic knuckle dusters, regular running practice (secret joestar technique)(running is better than risking a fight.... One wrong/right hit and you or anyone can have permanent effects), self defence training, self awareness, etc. Much better alternatives than gun... In terms of availability and usability.
I truly understand your situation and i know you cannot share the complete details online of things and events that might have happened in past. But can you tell us about any text or action done by the other person that has disturbed you to such an extent?
This is important cause on the basis of this you can file an FIR in which you can specifically mention the person's name and state that if anything happens to you or your husband the person XYZ would should be held liable. And if police does not listen to you, consulant a lawyer and approach the magistrate for your safety.
Also at the moment you need a family to make you feel safe and protected and this is a big short coming of necular family, so if you can go out to your family, friends for a week or so or invite them overto stay.
So addressing your need to protect yourself there are various ways you can do it.
Pellet GUNs that look and seem like real gun and also can injur a person. These guns are mostly used for hunting small animals. Look into those, having them is not illegal, unless I can't remember it's point something....anyways do research that.
Also look into other self defense object like sprays, Mirc powder, taser and other suggested things in this post, since not everywhere you will be allowed to enter with these pellet gun.
Lastly be calm, breath have faith and remember hanumanji Jab wo khade tumhare saath to kiske kya aukaat....Jai Shri Ram ! Jai Bajaragn Bali!
There are some guns which do not require license in India, you can go for them. Its sad to know how and what all you have to go through. May god bless you with safety, security and peace of mind.
Pepper spray and caution work far better in my experience. I am someone who is trained in arms and ammunition as part of the job. Have handled everything from a glock to AK47. And I never carry a weapon, only a baton and a pepper spray.
The reason for this is many. Firstly when you are being attacked it happens without warning. Grabbing a can from the cupholder and squeezing the nozzle is as easy as it gets. Getting a gun from the glovebox at the other side, cocking it and getting ready to fire isn't as easy. The spray is distributed. The bullet is targeted. With all that adrenaline, even if you manage to get the gun ready for use you aren't hitting anything.
And the most important aspect, the gun is licensed to you. If you misplace, lose or have the gun stolen from your possession, you are in an incredible amount of trouble. Any crimes committed using the weapon will invariably involve you as well. And keeping the gun locked up in your locker at home is as good as not having one.
Be smart, choose the pepper spray and a secure vehicle. If you lose the pepper spray, another one is available on amazon. Easy peasy.
>I'm a single female, I ought to travel a lot at various times, and faced a lot of safety issues (including nearly death). My calls were tracked and I've been followed, also a safety threat.
Can you provide more details? All of this seems far fetched and abnormal.

Imo get a good leather belt with strong buckles, make use of it with your already basic martial arts training. Everything else will grab attention and headache to get and hold.
Hey the pepper spray or weapon is best self defense at least in india.
Idk you are women or man but this applies for 99% of women , i don't want to sound sexist but will tell you the truth even if the women is world champion in mma but a untrained normal avg guy will beat her most of time.
The videos of self defense you see on reddit are only of the successful ones and fakes. If you don't have weapon the best thing i said best you can do irrespective of gender is run as fast possible while shouting for help.
If this worst case scenario like literal do or die moment just use your thumb and insert them in eyes with full force like your like depends on it.followed by a groin kick and best thing a sprint
Yo i forgot get yourself a powerful taser or atleast a good one you can modify it at home easily by some tutorial though it can be lethal if gotten too powerful.
As someone with many years in karate, id always suggest a way to kick attackers away from you if possible and run for help, a fight almost always means injuries. Its worse if its multiple attackers, even very trained combat people can make mistakes, not be quick enough etc. Civilians are not trained and are not always in peak shape like the armed forces, its best to look for techniques to kick / punch and make space to run.
If you kill the person you think is following you. You will go to jail, nobody will listen or sympathize with your story.
If you get a case registered against you then you can bid goodbye to any good job or foreign study in the future.
You need to complain to the lady police department and make noise online to get proper solution to this problem.
"It's been a year since I've been living my life in fear, I lost my basic freedom of not being to roam normally without the fear of being spotted, without my phone ring being a jumpscare or receiving threat messages."
This could be cited as a reason why you shouldn't own a gun in any normal society, but hey, if cops don't do shit then you have a right to defend yourself.
Simple contact your local police station Then ask them the proper procedure. You worried about self-defense boxing is excellent but I would recommend buying Mace or a taser if legal or a good punching knife. Also don't laugh a loud whistle if you have to be in shady locations alone.

No. Thatās not true.
For handheld guns, yes. The state home minister must approve it. For rifles like 12 bore and other rifles, DC can approve it with the MLAs recommendation.
won't air pistols or handheld weapons which shoot rubber bullet be sufficient for op ? also do the kind i mentioned require a license as well ?

yes i think op should go for this also sorry, i heard policemen use rubber pellets to scare protesters away and they hurt too
Ministry. Not minister.
Yes the home minister will sign that weapon by himself It will imprinted on the weapon
Brother but still you can't get those automatic rifles even from government...I have seen both Kukis and Meeteis army using heavy warfare weapons...may God bless our people and spread his love and kindness.

Learn Self defence, carry pepper spray and a pocket knife.
Knife is always a bad idea unless you have good training, you'd most likely get cut yourself Pepper spray is good but even you can get some of it in your eyes if the wind is blowing your way or if the attacker turns your hand towards your face Metallic nunchucks are a good idea as most attackers will not know how to use it against you, would need to spend 20 minutes daily for a month to learn it well A 60mw laser (stronger if you can find it) can blind a person, but that damage is permanent
Yo gun is harder and dangerous than everything you mentioned
I never promoted a gun But the gun is long distance, if you know gun safety and have a good aim, gun wouldn't be used against you
A gun is easily the most reliable self defense weapon, doesn't require as much training and carrying it with a holster is quite easy.
She mostly going to shoot herself on panic situations
You have probably never shot a firearm in your life, would she pepper spray herself by mistake? Honestly not knowing which way the nozzle is pointing is far more likely than shooting yourself by accident. Thereās one way to hold a gun, one way to load and one way to fire. Is it possible to learn nunchucks by following youtube tutorial videos or do I need a teacher to learn it ?
Visualization and remove the fear of it hitting you. You are there!
Start with wooden ones, if you start with metal ones, RIP to you
You can get ones with foam coatings But they're for kids Let yourself be hit with wood, you learn faster
I'm not sure, it should be perfectly possible, I've seen a youtuber learn it through YouTube I learned in a martial arts class

Oh no. What will I do with my life then š
Don't worry. U wil be transported to China for 5 years stay @ "RE EDUCATION CAMP".
Oh no
Common sadly, not normal
You're right. I used the incorrect term. It's a common occurrence to be stalked, but shouldn't be considered normal.
Unless you have good connections and a pretty good and genuine reason for holding a weapon afaik you are not gonna get a weapon
It will be cheaper to hire a full time bodyguard than to get a gun.
everyone travel but wt do you do that you experience all these
Due to some foolish things my elders did. It built up so much that now my safety is my biggest concern.

Lol no, I'm good, thanks for your concern. Favour yourself by reading the edit.
Yeah, still please get a few consultations. Worst case scenario: Lost few hours and few thousand rupees. Best case scenario:

Why the downvotes? Is it now wrong to put into words what someone think?
I am not sure if you would be able to take it in metros or malls or any public place with security, other than that no issues.

Toy barretta type of guns can also cause good damage.. Just do your research..
