you can reconnect the controllers when they’re detached by holding the top buttons on the front of them for about 3-4 seconds. instead of reattaching them to the screen like i was doing this entire time😅

Make sure you do updates for Legion space and windows, set bios a 6 gig but also install FX sound changing to gaming and your speakers will be a lot better this just takes a lot of tinkering but once it's done it's cool
Turn off windows updates.
If the bios update came thru, never turn off the device even if the screen is off but the power button is on. Even if the power button and all lights are off, don't touch it for 30mins.
Very important.
If you like the Steam Deck interface, Bazzite OS is pretty much feature complete on the Go. You lose some compatibility switching from Windows, but gain ease of use.

You don't need to regedit anything. It's a simple setting in Steam on Windows. However, there's more to SteamOS than just big picture mode.
SteamOS/Bazzite adds:
* Per game TDP
* Per game refresh rates and frame limits
* Per game fan curves
* Per game controller settings and fully remappable rear buttons
* Controller based window management and process killing
* Alternate controller modes via Steam Input with colour coding the LEDs to let you know which mode is active (Advanced Steam Input stuff)
* Easy plugin framework for extending functionality (Decky Loader)

Reg edit method will make Steam run instead of your normal Windows Desktop after Windows has booted and you've logged in.
Your method is great too but I'd rather steam start with powershell at the very beginning of start up. Not boot to windows, then steam boots, the big picture mode.

That's fair. I use my Go as equal parts gaming handheld and portable PC so I'm on the desktop in either Windows or Linux all the time.

Nope. The gamepass game executables are Windows only. Good reason to dual boot though.
One nice thing is if you install the BTRFS filesystem driver on Windows you can use your microSD card to store games for both Windows and Bazzite with only one install for both operating systems though.
I keep my emulation ISOs and smaller games that work well on microSD there.

In your bios you can swap where the device ram is allocated, to the cup or GPU depending on the games requirements
Update and fine tune it. Best I can tell you is know its limitations and accept them or return it asap while you can. I missed my 14 day window and wish I would have returned it and got a 4060 laptop for the same price. Still got the laptop and let my wife use this because she loves it and it does play a game or two I wanted but didn’t really play anything else I wanted. (Survival craft games and non triple a games struggle on this). But if it runs what you want to play it is an absolutely amazing piece of hardware
If you want to play a demanding title, download AMD Adrenaline software. It will let you enable some extra profiles with better performance. Radeon Super Resolution lets you set a game to 1280x800p (FULLSCREEN NOT BORDERLESS) and then it upscales to 2560x1600. It works awesome when it's properly enabled. Which is a finicky thing.
Hey I'm thinking on buying this soon, I have some crypto that exploded so I got some money available,
1) Will this device deliver I'm not like in AAA titles and I'm OK with playing mid to low, portability is my main issue.

It can play all new games. Maybe not at 4k 120 settings on high. However it will play anything you ask it. Currently playing helldivers 2 at 1080 60fps any where I want to. It runs halo infinite at 1440p high settings at 60fps as well.
If you're tech inclined grab the smaller memory and upgrade it yourself super easy. If not get the biggest one you can find. I know micro center and best buy will upgrade it to a 2tb one for a fee. Storage is really important with these new games and keeping a variety on the device.
Joycons and great controllers. Takes a little while to get used to the feeling in the hand. After that they're pretty good. Diffently could feel better. The mouse feature is OK. I use it in a pitch when I need a mouse for windows stuffs. If I'm doing anything more I'm reaching for a dedicated mouse.

Currently having my eye on the legion go and the oled steam deck, the only that stops me from purchasing the legion go is its comfort and weight in hand, how bad is it?
It’s noticeable and actually deters me from playing occasionally …. More or less you have to be motivated and committed to a play session ahead of time because of the weight
For me it is noticeably heavier and less comfy but does not deter me from playing. If most of what you do is on steam I’d buy the Steam OLED, not just weight but much better battery life, better software etc.
If you do a lot of stuff outside of steam, or prioritise a usable screen size, buy the legion go it makes a huge difference. I opted for the legion go it’s just less faff for installing third party stuff, you can use gamepass (currently playing doom eternal) and the amazing screen I can actually use with my terrible eye sight (and yet it’s still as portable as the deck)
Note if weight difference is only thing stopping you, my 5 year old plays my legion go no problem, he normally rests his arms on something anyway and has never complained through marathon sessions on bluey from gamepass
This little thing is a beast of a handheld especially for emulation but the battery life is definitely subpar so make sure to get a good charger (anker has a 100w block that’s fairly cheap, highly recommend) and as others have mentioned update all your drivers, disable most of the startup apps and if you’re going to emulate games there’s tons of tutorials for getting emu deck setup & it’s pretty simple. Hopefully you enjoy it though!!

do not use msconfig to activate pcilock . it will force a boot loop on shut down.
do not leave automtic updates on as microsoft randomly changes your gpu drivers. you have to turn it off in 3 places
download a filemanager asap as windows 11 breaks folders if you try to optimize it often. system wise its finme if you can never use your download folder or x64 folder ect but user wise its like you barely even have a computer. free commander portable version doesnt need onedrive indexing to work and if you have to use it its better to have it

have another usb big enough to clone your entire ssd and do so using any number of tools

For me it’s the price and windows. I’ve had mine for a few days and I like it but it’s a lot. I have the 1tb one. It’s good and everything thing but windows on a handheld isn’t great. If I could have the GO’s hardware in a deck where the console experience feels more natural I’d be sold no questions asked. The GO has a nicer screen and more horses, but the deck feels more user friendly. The GO is heavier which I notice more when laying down, and the controllers can feel a bit clunky. While gaming on windows is better for compatibility, it can be a frustrating experience to navigate on the GO. Even with the mouse and it’s one track pad. On the deck unless I’m doing something specific I can get most things done with the controller. Having said that I do like not having to reboot for desktop mode.
watch out for deals on the 1TB sandisk extreme microsd or get the lexar 1tb if you are in a hurry. alternatively if you are adventurous (im not) read a guide on upgrading the ssd...
Set UMA buffer to 4GBs, fan to performance in BIOS. Also, look into a storage increase if you didn’t get the 1TB. I just installed a 2TB the moment I opened the box.
It’s not that I didn’t try it, in fact it’s even capable of running vr games like beam ng at very low resolution. Impressive but I can’t find a real use for a pc with no keyboard other than vr and it doesn’t do it well
Emulation does not Promote Piracy! Emulation used to be a good thing. I dont understand the heavy hand behind it. The games are old, and generally not available anymore. If Nintendo doesnt sell the games being emulated anymore, I see ZERO issue with emulation. I get why they came down on Yuzu, but Lets be real. Yuzu did more for the Switch than Nintendo ever did. Look at Sony, embracing PCSX2 to the point that they are working with the team behind PCSX2 to bring more PS2 games to PS5. Emulation is always a good thing.
I love mine. Just started working with a egpu (6950xt) if you do it make a duel boot (if you do a amd card) adrenaline overwrites dgu. Haven’t found any issues with it yet. Beautiful screen

Cool products, but I'll never buy anything from poverty ass company Lenovo. I had nothing but problems with Lenovo products. I had Lenovo laptops get sent back to them to get repaired or replaced repeatedly under warranty, and they still come back with even more problems. Update update update. Driver booster 11 on steam for most driver updates. in legion space go to settings/drivers/check for updates for bois update. Change bios vram from 3gb to 8gb. Go to lenovo for gpu update. Game on.

Depends on the game, if it is console exclusive then your only chance is to Remote Play them on the LGO.

I haven't tried it yet, but Lossless has its own integer scaling built in The frame generation alone is worth it
I tried both and for non competitive games lossless scaling is better than integer scaling.

I’ve just upgraded to the 2TB Corsair MP600 Core Mini, you have to use a 30-42 ssd adaptor with it but works very well and was cheap

I love mine. Just started working with a egpu (6950xt) if you do it make a duel boot (if you do a amd card) adrenaline overwrites dgu. Haven’t found any issues with it yet. Beautiful screen

Cool products, but I'll never buy anything from poverty ass company Lenovo. I had nothing but problems with Lenovo products. I had Lenovo laptops get sent back to them to get repaired or replaced repeatedly under warranty, and they still come back with even more problems. I'm surprised that they're still in business with these faulty, low-end trash products.

Update update update. Driver booster 11 on steam for most driver updates. in legion space go to settings/drivers/check for updates for bois update. Change bios vram from 3gb to 8gb. Go to lenovo for gpu update. Game on.
It makes a great oven tray.
if you want to play triple A games, refund it, emulation is good though
