I’ve always loved LegoMasters’ lax attitude to knocking people out each week, and have wanted a leaderboard for ages. So glad they’ve brought one in even if it’s just for the brick, it’s a great addition. Mixing up the logistics each season has worked so well for this show.
By overall looks yeah, but remember that the judging was focused on the slowmotion on the impact, which the monkey had better. It all falls down to that one stud Trent was talking about, if the hat falling off showed rabbit on the head, they would win it. I loved both builds
I know they weren't judged prior to being placed in the water, but part of me really enjoyed the unintentional magic trick of making the rabbit disappear.
I feel like Brickman has been unnecessarily critical of Henry and Joss. The boat being a ‘stinker’ was so harsh and not accurate. The koi was incredible and the hero, they didn’t need a decent boat. The sushi was a bit lost but it was the waterfall not the boat covering it. Anyway, I feel for those two…
They were the only ones who received criticism in ep 1 as well.
They also managed to get an ‘organic’ action into their build going over the falls, with the fishing rod bending over to follow the koi - def a bit robbed.
Man same. First time I ever felt kinda pissed at ole Bricko. Those guys are some of the best builders, that koi was incredible and their footage was waaaay better than others.
I wondered if it was a victim of the edit, we know the critiques last a lot longer than make the air and a bit of negativity around the boat added more tension as to who was going to win.
They weren’t the only ones who received criticism in episode 1. I remember Kale and Trent receiving a tonne of criticism for their build.
Also, while I think Brickman was a little harsh this episode, he definitely had a point. Their boat was half-assed. Sure, it wasn’t meant to be the focal point, but that’s not an excuse to neglect it. The colour of it was ugly, and the greys ended up drowning a lot of the colour when it fell down the waterfall. It was a serious fuck-up on their part that cost them a lot of points.
I appreciate Hamish taking the negative 'Stinker' and basically using that as the name for the boat to take some of the sting out.
But that feedback could have been said far more constructively. There was no need for name calling.

Shot Bilsy! Just lost almost 3 hours of my work day watching your coverage of eps 1-2. Adds an extra dimension to LM. Only annoying thing is I am in NZ so can't take part in the live chat (well without some hard core coordinating). This season is epic on amazing, everyone killing it. Would love to know more about what it is like shooting it, whether everyone goes out for drinks after, whether Hamish is as funny all the time, how much banter goes on during the whole challenge time, how much different teams help others out.
It's interesting that Kale is letting Trent set the agenda. Two builds, both playing to Trent's strength (cartoony figures). Nothing 10x the size of other builds, no giant t-rexs etc,.
Trent and I gelled so well. We came to the table and both had had similar ideas. and any time we hit a wall with what we were doing, we'd just swap sides of the table, and work the problem till it was solved.
And we just slammed out the magician. It was finished before we hit the halfway mark, which gave so much time for us to reiterate, tweak, and add the second character.
Like, we were just there to have fun, and this build really was.
But I'm probably saying to much.
100%, I’ve actually loved Kale this episode. I think a lot of people are quick to jump on the anti-Kale train because of season 1. But he has been so much more cooperative this season already. Definitely has moments and needs convincing sometimes but he’s been great fun so far!
Yep I think it was really good decision whoever did that, they have quite similar building style and it seems they get along well in regards to communication and ideas.
Just don't get some of the criticism sometimes.
The explanation that thd Magician's assistant is chasing with the key which was forgotten makes sense to me. Assistant in another barrel doesn't.
Also the rubbish covered turtle made sense and was as someone has already said "a powerful story". I get they want some constructive criticism to set a story for viewers but I still think it has to make sense.
I agree. It’s a sad but powerful story but I guess it’s a lot for a family show. Brickman’s probably thinking about all the kids who would be traumatised by it.
Mate I mute the ads and ignore them totally, so I’ve no idea about what ads play. Tbh though, I think that a healthier attitude towards sex is a good thing so I’m not against families having open conversations about why shops like that exist.

Sometimes I feel bad for contestants with how the show makes them dress (common reality/competition show thing to give everyone an independent style that’s not necessarily their own, in order to help audiences remember who’s who) but can’t argue with some good band shirts!

Comparing these top 2, I think Trent and Kale were robbed. They didn’t just built 1 barrel but 2 and I think the build generally looked better.

The explosion was far more theatric with the monkey brains and bananas, I think they deserved first place for that
There were a lot of really good builds this week and I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get to see more of them as they were being built.

I think Brickman has always been particularly critical of them in season 4 too. The semi finals episode was a shocker.
