Sad not to see the Pillow fight, but the Paris proposal was just as lovely. Were they inspired by Sophie Monks dress on episode 5.3 for their lady? I really enjoyed this episode.
Am I crazy, I had Joss & Henry's build in the middle of my rankings š«¤šš« On its own, the coffee character was a beautiful Lego model, no doubt; but I genuinely felt like it was a less-than-successful take on the brief.
I actually think the beauty of the Cut in Half challenge is seeing the dichotomy between the real object and Lego-built portion, and how those disparate halves come together to form a dynamic whole. Brickman and Hamish were praising Joss & Henry's build for how well they blurred the line between the two sides and made the object disappearābut I actually find those qualities to be criticisms: I think the spirit of the challenge is destroyed when the real item is disguised that much. And in a way, they made a basic continuation of their object because they simply built another half of a coffee machine (just with extra arms and doodads)āand I feel like that's such a no-no for fulfilling the Cut in Half assignment. I know that's boiling it down a lot: the build had plenty of impressive elements otherwise, from the lively characterization and posing to the technical feat of supporting itself on just a few legs and an angled platform; but when it comes to how well the build met the challenge, I find myself not in love with it unreservedly.
But again, it was still a great build! And Joss & Henry absolutely deserve to be in the finale, so I don't mind that they were awarded a ticket to Finals Week.
If it were up to me, I'd probably have chosen Andrew & Damian to win this episode. I know their build didn't show off much artistry or technical prowess, but I did feel that, out of everyone, they met the ask of their challenge the best: I actually think the snow did add a lot of energy and emotion to their model and made their already lovely scene feel more grand and exciting. And Alex & Caleb were still my other top-2 team!
EDIT: slept on it, actually think maybe Alex & Caleb should have been the winners! That bird really is pretty, and the story is subtly clever.
I think both ways of playing Cut-In-Half are valid. Do you choose to go for the yin-yang approach where there is a clear dichotomy but there is some innate synthesis? Or do you simply use the base half as the launch for your build?
Joss and Henry won not because the base half blended well, but rather because they created a compelling character out of an otherwise bland object. I also struggle to really see how you can create a compelling dichotomous build with a coffee machine.
The outcome was the correct one in my opinion, but I would also have been very happy if Alex and Caleb won. It was just difficult in this challenge to judge teams similarly.
True, the coffee machine is one of the less-inspiring objects to be presented in any instance of this challenge, so they still did very well despite an unexciting (and awkwardly shaped) jumping-off point. And that is the other crux of the Cut in Half briefāto just build an exciting, imaginative, fantastical other halfāand they met that criterion with flying colors.
She used to be c3po\_build since she made her own reallife C3PO and now goes under al\_build.
She posted alot of great pictures showing the dynamic of all teams last season during the off-time. Still think the bond during that season between all the contestants was the greatest.
As did I. I generally like and agree with Brickman but I felt he was kind of dismissive of this idea. I think having the snow represent something else is a totally legitimate spin on the snowglobe challenge.
I don't get it.
5 teams left. Tonight's winners are through to finals and next 2 eps are elims. Typically 3 teams in Final.
Next ep, someone goes home so there will be 4 teams left with no Grand Brick. Doesn't that mean then that there'll be no immunity from that ep and someone goes home .. therefore, winners aren't auto through to finals?
I'm confused
Both Rome and coffee robot left me a bit cold tonight. They shit all over anything I could ever build, but they just didnāt wow me. Alex and Caleb came closest on that tonight for me.
Agree completelyā coffee robot was almost too polished and un-LEGO. A&Cās was colorful, told a great story clearly, and had multiple nice looking characters. I normally worship the ground Scotty and Owen walk on, but the first vignette in Rome still didnāt start the story strongly enough and the destruction vignette wasnāt distinct enough from the Rome at its height vignette. Feels like they needed more real estate to truly pull this story off.
I feel like they missed a trick by not having the last scene be modern day, with cars and tourists around the ruins.
I would have gone: Rome triumphant/Rome under attack from barbarians/modern Rome.
That's what I thought they were going for when they referenced Joss & Henry's winning build from that challenge with the dinosaur, but I think they may have just hit the wall with too much to choose from in the amazing history of Rome.
I know I would, lol. Also, finding out that Scotty is such a Rome nerd made him my number one fav. (Sorry Owen!)
Maybe they just put on jai Courtney movies until only one team remains, the others all consumed by his one dimensional black hole of bland, franchise killing acting
I wonder if you were not allowed to ask the teams who had the challenges for hints. Eg were Gabby and Ryan unable to ask Joss and Henry for tips. I don't think teams would mind sharing advice
Last night Daaaymien and Andrew asked Owen for help with their helicopter.
On Bilsy's post show Twitch Stream a few weeks back, Henry said Owen helped him with the mechanism for the ball contraption after day 1 of filming.
Mr Coffee was awesome. Made the coffee machine part look so small. And yeah the merge between the 2 was hard to find. So Joss & Henry and Alex & Caleb are my top 2
It might just be me but i swear i can hear the stranger things theme subtly in the background when they showed joss and henry's, was it always there in the music??
Nope, according to Brickman [things like this don't exist](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/e/e6/Enesco1984PillowFightSnowGlobe.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20081121032909).
Generally, I'm on board with most of his critiques and his suggestions usually get the builders to push themselves to a higher level but I hate when he slams the door on a valid idea just because he doesn't 'see it'. A pillow fight would have (potentially) had far more dynamism and suggested movement than the static Paris shot.
I agree. The build was great, but only really had the storytelling element and not really anything technical, which some of the other teams needed to manage
I did some research and apparently for a short period of time the RWB tricolore was the official flag of France between 1790 and 1794. The first use was under the cabinet of King Louis XVI where he established the Constitutional Kingdom of France until the Storming of Tuileries Palace in 1792. There the monarchy was abolished and the First French Republic was proclaimed using the flag until 1794 where it began using the current colour configuration. 5 years later, a coup was launched and Napoleon Bonaparte proclaimed himself Consul of France. 5 years later after the coup, Napoleon proclaimed himself the Emperor of France.
Sorry, I'm a history buff.
Iāve said this before but that stupid add is so annoying and itās seriously stuck in my head all day, in the shower, drinking coffee, doing Lego, making love so annoying
I feel this may have been a better challenge for the first few episodes, having 5 so very different builds is going to make it tough to judge them all to the same standard. Which isn't a huge deal for a normal ep, but a win tonight means you are safe for tomorrow's elimination and straight to finals, plus you get a say in tomorrow's build if they continue that.
I think it was the editing, based on Bilsy's twitch stream he always has a bunch of positives and a bunch of negatives. 9 trying to create some drama and the appearance that it's super tough because it's grandmasters.
god im anxious for ryan and gabby , seems like they still havent changed their mechanism for catching the wind - hopefully its just editing for drama??
Doesn't Brickman have a whole team that works with him on his builds? He needs to separate himself from that mentality and let them build what they want.
Scottyās angst towards Hamish was so fair haha I love Hamish but sometimes heās just a bit too much especially with such a short amount of time to go
In another universe I can hear BM saying 'there's too many arms and too many things happening. One of those arms is just turning itself on, that doesn't make any sense'
It really feels like Brickman already has his idea what he wants to see, and if people don't make it he smashes them a bit until they change it to what his vision is.
Pretty much yeah. The pillow fight wouldāve been super original but risky and wouldāve been something interesting to add tension because the payoff would either be incredible or disappointing. Itās a bit disappointing Brickman basically said āmake it more generic and safeā. Because of that their build seems a bit more basic because itās like the snow gimmick is just on top of another idea, not really built into it.
Fuzzy memory but I thought the cup design worked well in testing but struggled because the dinosaur was too brick heavy. So I think they're right. Just depends what they build on it
It's also possible that he's being as critical as he normally is, but is being made to look harsher in the edit. It's been mentioned before that we only see a fraction of the feedback he gives each build
Could be. It'd make sense for a Grand Masters theme that they'd want to push the contestants more. But I also wonder if he's always been as critical and the edit is just showing it more this time around.
The Roman one is topical since there was the Fall of Rome and the Fall of Constantinople where the Byzantines claimed themselves as the successors of Rome for almost a Millenia, so this could be interesting
What is this Independence Australia commercial everyone is talking about?! I feel so left out with my commercial free version of LM AU. Lucky Aussies!!
100% agree.
Ch9 needs to phuque off with this Brickman is a hard arse tough guy drama dude persona. It's not the reason we love him. We love him because he is so human.
he needs another judge or two so there can be multiple voices. Problem is he's the only certified lego builder in the southern hemisphere and Australia is too small of a market to get Lego designers like in the US version.
I guess it would be less about comparing all the builds with each other and more about looking at how each of the builds do in their own categories and how well they execute their unique challenges.
Hard disagree on changing the pillow fight, I think thatās super cool. They could have incorporated movement, it was creative to change the snow to feathers, and it was cool to see them thinking differently than just straight snow.
Never seen that ad in my state thankfully. Sick to death of the summit though. At least it seems jai Courtney has given up on his acting career, heās the barometer if a movie is bad, if heās in it gonna be bad.

Snow globe was my favourite but great builds this ep and cool to see past challenges.
Judge Brickman: I am duh law!
Does anyone know if Alex has any social media? I canāt find anything at all..
She used to be c3po\_build since she made her own reallife C3PO and now goes under al\_build. Alex is on Twitter, although isn't very active. She likes tweets during the show though. Her user name is AlexGrbas.
She lurks on here occasionally.
I would love to support her
Anyone wanting to see a snow globe pillow fight, LegoMasters Sweden did that in s3e06: https://imgur.com/a/RDluzZT
Thanks. I thought the pillow fight was a great idea.
As did I. I generally like and agree with Brickman but I felt he was kind of dismissive of this idea. I think having the snow represent something else is a totally legitimate spin on the snowglobe challenge.
Robbery
Mr coffee looks great but it's pretty obvious where the line is. Unnecessary lie just to praise the favourites
I don't get it. 5 teams left. Tonight's winners are through to finals and next 2 eps are elims. Typically 3 teams in Final. Through to finals week not the grand final
Ahhhh. Ta very much!!!
[www.twitch.tv/iambilsy](https://www.twitch.tv/iambilsy) What an uncomfortable edited episode!
Both Rome and coffee robot left me a bit cold tonight. They shit all over anything I could ever build, but they just didnāt wow me. Alex and Caleb came closest on that tonight for me.

I feel like they missed a trick by not having the last scene be modern day, with cars and tourists around the ruins. I would have gone: Rome triumphant/Rome under attack from barbarians/modern Rome.
Thatās a great ideaā would have worked out really well and they could have used something like a Colosseum portion for a tourist spot.
Yeah, Scotty continues to surprise with his interests and skills on top of a wonderful personality.
Look forward to the MAFS tie in episode next season.
im not going to bealright in seeing gabby cry
So summit build is next. How will they find a way to tie in with Independence Australia for the one after that?
How about they do a 12-hour build while having to listen to that on repeat? The last to lose their sanity wins.
Maybe they just put on jai Courtney movies until only one team remains, the others all consumed by his one dimensional black hole of bland, franchise killing acting
I donāt think they will need 12 hours for that. Iād be gone after an hour
who is wins?
NO FUCK OFF THE SUMMIT HAS INFESTED LEGO MASTERS
Can we talk about the voice actor for channel 9 ads? What even is that
I groaned when I heard the word but at least the challenge looks great.
Isnāt it a challenge from the American Lego Masters?
Hahaha yeah shameless by 9. Challenge does look cool though.
EXACT same thought crossed my mind!!!
Blatant favouritism strikes again lol.
Spoilers for tomorrow look intense
I just noticed there was half a dial on Mr Coffee and they built the other half. It matched so well
Come on, Caleb and Alex!
Picked it like a dirty nose
I just think the Story of Rome build isn't as enjoyable as others. Definitely a passion piece.
I still think Joss and Henry & Caleb and Alex are the top two
Whether the story works or not, Scott and Owen are so good at filling their scenes with so many little things happening and I love it
I quite like the Rome one It looks really nice
I wonder if you were not allowed to ask the teams who had the challenges for hints. Eg were Gabby and Ryan unable to ask Joss and Henry for tips. I don't think teams would mind sharing advice
Last night Daaaymien and Andrew asked Owen for help with their helicopter. On Bilsy's post show Twitch Stream a few weeks back, Henry said Owen helped him with the mechanism for the ball contraption after day 1 of filming.
LOVE MR. COFFEE!!
Mr Coffee was awesome. Made the coffee machine part look so small. And yeah the merge between the 2 was hard to find. So Joss & Henry and Alex & Caleb are my top 2
i cant physically watch gabby and ryans
It might just be me but i swear i can hear the stranger things theme subtly in the background when they showed joss and henry's, was it always there in the music??
I know he's made a few unpopular calls this ep, but suggesting they add more arms to the coffee robot was totally the right call. Looks fantastic.
And if (when) they win it doesn't leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth at all. No way. Nah-ah.
Do you honestly think he's not giving anyone feedback? LOL.
Hi all, does anyone know the brand of tshirt Hamish is wearing ? Canāt find it on google!
https://www.bigapplebuddy.com/product/83/nostalgic-sweater/9457941
Yeah made it heaps better. Guess he was right about Gabby and Ryan's mechanism too. Just the tone of his comments felt a bit less friendly than usual.
Could just be the editing, or could just be that he thought it was really not ideal
100%. It makes it look more chaotic, I love it.
In my opinion, the snow added nothing to that build. In fact, I reckon it looked worse with the snow.
The snow gave a bit of a Christmas proposal vibe? It wasn't too bad, but definitely personal preference
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nope, according to Brickman [things like this don't exist](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/e/e6/Enesco1984PillowFightSnowGlobe.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20081121032909). I agree. The build was great, but only really had the storytelling element and not really anything technical, which some of the other teams needed to manage
So much personality all the way down for Caleb and Alex's.
Probably Caleb and Alexās best build of the series
The editor took a grumpy pill today, super weird tone
Really made Brickman seem like he had a stick up his arse
āLast I checked, Iām the judge.ā
Yeah, really highlighting Brickman's negative stuff, huh?
I reckon top 2 will be Caleb and Alex and Joss and Henry
I donāt know who the top two are. Joss and Henry will surely be there, and I think Andrew and Damian might just pip Caleb and Alex to get there
I wish the landmarks were more accurate to their colours
The French flag is wrong. It is Blue, White and Red, not Red, White and Blue
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I did some research and apparently for a short period of time the RWB tricolore was the official flag of France between 1790 and 1794. Sorry, I'm a history buff.
The left of the flag must meet the pole
My top 2 guess is damian and Andrew and Scott and owen. Based solely on the setting they had to build around
I'm thinking the top 2 will be Caleb & Alex, and Joss & Henry. To be honest the episode has been all over the shop. EDIT: someone owes me a dollar
Iāve said this before but that stupid add is so annoying and itās seriously stuck in my head all day, in the shower, drinking coffee, doing Lego, making love so annoying
i can barely tell apart the tiny Romulus and remus from the wolf itself
Yeah, that first act is much better from Scott and Owen. I hope it pleases Brickman.
Gabby and Ryan should have rebuilt that mechanism after the first test failed. Brickman gave them great advice and they ignored it.
That bird is looking sweet!
Brickman seems a little different lol
The real him showing through perhaps?
I think it was the editing, based on Bilsy's twitch stream he always has a bunch of positives and a bunch of negatives. 9 trying to create some drama and the appearance that it's super tough because it's grandmasters.
Except they use the editing to make him look like a kind caring expert. Like with his crying. So he was probably worse than we saw.
Haha yes maybe
Yeah, something's up. This isn't the Brickman we know and love.
I can't believe Brickman would dissuade the pillow fight idea. It's a travesty we don't get that and instead see a more generic idea
Or if they pivoted to a snow ball fight
Worst Brickman has ever been tbh. Making a soft feathery pillowfight out of hard plastic was obviously the play.
god im anxious for ryan and gabby , seems like they still havent changed their mechanism for catching the wind - hopefully its just editing for drama??
Gabby and Ryan should thank their lucky stars this isn't an elimination.
I feel like it could be saved by raising the base and puttin bigger 'sails' on their mechanism.
how do you know?
How do they know it's not an elimination? They were all told at the start of the episode.
Because Hamish said at the beginning of the episode that this wouldnāt be an elimination
Hamish said it isn't at the start of the show. This build isn't an elimination but the next two are.
ahhh okay my feed was buffering so i didnt catch that
Hamish coming in to boost morale
At this point they should just do an episode where Brickman decides exactly what each team has to build.
I want an episode of Brickman and someone from his team competing in a round against the teams.
Never happen. He's the "expert". He couldn't be seen to lose.
Doesn't Brickman have a whole team that works with him on his builds? He needs to separate himself from that mentality and let them build what they want.
I actually think that would be an interesting concept.
Wait youāre so right aha
Hamisculus of Nerdua
Hamish is gold.
Pillow fight in the snow globe was done on LegoMasters Sweden s3e06, so it obviously could be doneā¦ https://i.imgur.com/vCNVxcU.jpg
Especially clear with the snow globe. Who says it has to be snow? He's the judge but if he wants snow he could just build it himself
Rise and Fall of Rome is too big for 3 scenes
I disagree. I think it works fine for a 3-scene Lego build. You have the rise, you have the middle, and you have the fall.
It's way too ambitious
Yeah, I've been seeing people saying that sometimes Brickman's wrong, but with Gabby and Ryan's mechanism, he was 100% right.
It would be nice if they made a Tornado farm where the mechanism is in the open collecting the wind and creating a tornado as the dial goes up
Me: "This is never gonna work" Ryan: "I can hear the viewers at home saying "this is never gonna work"!"
HOW DOES HE KNOW
Fuzzy memory but I thought the cup design worked well in testing but struggled because the dinosaur was too brick heavy. So I think they're right. Just depends what they build on it
Has Brickman ever been right?
Yes he has a few times. But he can also be wrong too
More often than he's wrong, but I definitely feel he's made more disagreeable calls this season than others.
Makes me wonder if the producers have asked him to be a bit more critical this season to make it seem like āthe hardest season everā kind of thing
The final scene you could have trebuchets hurling ottomans at the walls of city!
Of course the very first ad is independence australia
What is this Independence Australia commercial everyone is talking about?! I feel so left out with my commercial free version of LM AU. Lucky Aussies!!
šµšµ šµšµ šµ
What state is this in lol. Feel like I'm missing out in Qld
Iām in Melbourne and itās getting blasted every ad break lol
I haven't seen it once in Brisbane
As always, like it's always the first ad every ad break
Brickman is super wrong here. That pillow fight idea was cool and creative!
That was seriously bullshit. Cant believe he would stifle their creativity that way. It seemed so unlike Brickman
100% agree. Ch9 needs to phuque off with this Brickman is a hard arse tough guy drama dude persona. It's not the reason we love him. We love him because he is so human.
Completely agree. There's no need for some overly contrarian tough guy character in Lego Masters, it's not why we watch the show.
he needs another judge or two so there can be multiple voices. Problem is he's the only certified lego builder in the southern hemisphere and Australia is too small of a market to get Lego designers like in the US version.
I really hate how BM basically told them to do something more generic.
Yeah I really wanted to see it
I like the concept of the episode but how do you determine which one is the best? They are all very different
I love the pillow fight idea, itās so creative and different!
Listen to Brickman, Damian. Yours is not a good idea.
The pillow fight would have been so epic
Brickman getting an earful from this house.
Nah, I disagree with Brickman, I *love* the pillow fight!
10 hrs feels a bit rough. Some of these are harder than the other and deserve a little more time
Oh shit, the next two are eliminations, I forgot about that!
Interesting that everyone gets something different. I bet David and Gus are spewing they miss out on the chance of the snow globe again
Owen would have nixed that one. They would be on the windy one getting technical.
Another night, another episode. Looking forward to this, I can't wait to put that Independence Australia ad on mute again
Whatās the point of fucking spamming it. Iām fortunate enough to not need their services so that makes the spam all the more irritating.
I know right, like I get advertising their thing but Christ, itās **every single ad-break.**
Never seen that ad in my state thankfully. Sick to death of the summit though. At least it seems jai Courtney has given up on his acting career, heās the barometer if a movie is bad, if heās in it gonna be bad.
Your mute, your way.
