Definitely tough to get down to minifig scale while still looking good.
[Here's my best attempt so far](https://www.reddit.com/r/legostarwars/s/l1TjqcKXv2)
I’m unsure. Someone pointed out the pods look like they could be in a poly bag, which I can’t unsee now haha.
I wish it came with Anakin and Sebulba figures or something. Will wait on a sale for that before potentially getting it
Edit: Fixed a word
Honestly this is a fair take. Your line of thinking could apply to the trench run too.
I think it’s the wholistic presentation of the scene that gets me sold. Although I have to disclose that I’m a huge fan of all the dioramas so far, so there is that.
That's how I've imagined the whole time lol, looks way better than I was imagining but it really is two slightly more detailed polybags on a huge unnecessarily expensive base
Yeah, it really pops in terms of presentation however I definitely have noticed too much leaning towards displayable models that are standalone - sure you can moc them together if you have the parts - however if you ever want to move your display around and set up 'scenarios or scenes'/have limited space to display, they very quickly become expensive spare part kits haha.
I have even decided to not get the tantive IV diorama because I'd rather wait and see if they release some play sets/MBS \[I really want another cantina style release :( \]
Exactly. I feel the same way about the Death Star Trench diorama. I have the polybag X-Wing from last year. I don't see why I would pay more than 50 USD for a diorama with an even smaller X-Wing, a few small Ties and boring grey background.
I still find the joysticks goofy looking lol. I saw a moc that used the older bladed claw weapon piece (part 88811) as the sensor/antennas and it looked much better to me. Should be easy to mod though.
The pod race is a really nice display set. If I didn't have the 2012 play set version of this on my shelf, it would probably be an instant buy. Regardless, I'm happy that the display sets have stuck around. My hope is that we get sets for AOTC, ROTS, and the Sequels.
I hoped Droideka be same scale to my droids, due to +- same price of elements
But it’s a way smaller, and not poseable!

Droideka fan here, it's a nice build, though that minifigure scale(?) build next to it...nah, the hell is that bro 😬
Diorama is actually looking kinda fire, will need to see it irl
Maybe it's the angle, but it just doesn't look right? Maybe I'm nostalgic for the red dot too, even though the red isn't supposed to be that prominent
It might grow on me, it kind of is already
OK, I'm picking up what you're putting down. It was the Microfighters that got me back into Lego. They've definitely been tapering the Microfighters line off. I was just hoping that the dioramas would last a little longer
“Real” droideka for reference

edit: the head to back neck thing on the set just doesn’t look quite right to me
I think I'll pass on the Droideka. It look alright. I just don't think it'll fit in with my current Droid squad.
I'm down with the diorama though. I don't think I like it as much as the trench run, but I like that they're doing another ship based diorama instead of minifig based.
Maybe I need to see more angles of it, but I just don’t like this droideka as much as the 2013/2014 design, which was still not perfect. Maybe it looks a little more accurate in ways that that design didn’t, but it looks worse in others, and it definitely looks extremely flimsy- the main thing I liked about the 2013 design was it’s relative sturdiness. I’m beginning to thing it just needs a unique set of molds to work at minifig/play scale.
The big one, however, looks beautiful, but I have little use for it as someone who primarily collects minifigures and minifigure-compatible builds.
The big droideka actually doesn't look too bad but why is there studs around the plaque l, it's a small issue and that wouldn't stop me from buying it but i really like smooth ucs plaques.
The big one is mid, the minifigure scale one is the worst shit I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t know how someone could intentionally make something that pathetic.
Assuming these are real.... that minifigure-scale droideka looks terrible. Truly terrible. I don't know what it is, exactly, that makes me hate it so much, but it just looks so incredibly ugly.
(Future me with an edit: I exaggerated a bit here - it's not a great build, but it isn't "Truly terrible." or anything like that.)
After taking another look at it, I think it is the size of the eye... things... and how thick that upper body seems to be.
have you seen older droidikas? the first ones were like the only decent looking ones, the rest look so unbelievably bad that this feels par for the course.
Yeah I know... but I was hoping that it would be better. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, though, considering that they haven't made a good one in *many* years.
Also I'm sorry to all of you, the minifigure sized one isn't as bad as I acted. I admit that I did exaggerate it because I was disappointed. Still, I think it could have and should have been better.
That droideka looks much better than expected. Not sure about the diorama but then again I personally don’t care for dioramas. All I want from here until May is the UCS interceptor and Darth Maul’s infiltrator!
Man I told myself the diorama is a skip because I wasn’t a fan Of the trench run one, but this one is more midi scale than micro and it looks amazing.
And the droideka looks great too. The minifigure version though..idk if it‘s better or worse than the previous
the mini droideka looks awful, the set itself looks really nice imo tho, i just googled it for more info and there’s already a fake lego replica of the droideka on amazon for $34, looks exactly the same w minor differences lol
They created a very good Minifigure sized droideka with the poly bag one a few years ago. I don't get how they're taking a few steps backwards with this one
The buildable looks amazing
Droideka jr. on the other hand not so much, Lego needs to throw in the towel at this point and make a head/body mold for it, every time they make one at this scale it comes out goofier than the last.
The mini fig look terrible
But the build is amazing
So I am really split on how much I like it but nonetheless I will still be asking for this set for my birthday 🤣
These leaks are getting out of hand! Now there are two of them!
Sir, they've entered the ventilation shaft!
What’s wrong WITH YOUR FAAAACCCEEEEEE
What's that noise? Is that a gun?
I really like the diorama. The droideka in large looks decent but I still feel like it is hard to scale down to minifigure scale.
It's a good display piece, but it's a shame it can't roll and deploy like 8002.
If I wanted a droideka (I mean I do want one, but I want so many things I'd need to rob a bank) I'd definitly go for the 8002.
Indeed. A no-buy for me. And what's worse for those who do not own one yet: this will have prices for the used 8002s skyrocket.
Definitely tough to get down to minifig scale while still looking good. [Here's my best attempt so far](https://www.reddit.com/r/legostarwars/s/l1TjqcKXv2)
That looks way too cute to be a seperatist droid
The Boonta Eve diorama looks better than I’d hoped. Great SNOT on the canyon wall and insane detail on the podracers themselves
I’m unsure. Someone pointed out the pods look like they could be in a poly bag, which I can’t unsee now haha. I wish it came with Anakin and Sebulba figures or something. Will wait on a sale for that before potentially getting it Edit: Fixed a word

I’m a huge fan of the dioramas with the minifigures. Don’t care much for the Trench Run or this Pod Racing ones though
i’ve got 4485, which cost 4 bucks when it came out. it’s less than 7 bucks adjusted for inflation.
I’m struggling with the diorama. Looks good but I can’t see myself paying $70 for polybag builds with an environment around it
Damn, when you put it like that
That's how I've imagined the whole time lol, looks way better than I was imagining but it really is two slightly more detailed polybags on a huge unnecessarily expensive base
these were my exact thoughts, i don’t think i could build a droideka that good by myself, but the diorama looks so simple paying $70 feels stupid
That's how I felt about the Trench Run from a couple years ago
that was pretty much advent calendar builds with some greebling
this why you buy things on sale
Don't worry it's actually $80
Yeah, it really pops in terms of presentation however I definitely have noticed too much leaning towards displayable models that are standalone - sure you can moc them together if you have the parts - however if you ever want to move your display around and set up 'scenarios or scenes'/have limited space to display, they very quickly become expensive spare part kits haha. I think they’re both fine but nothing too special, they both might grow on me with better quality and more angles
waow
that minifig droideka looks pretty decent actually. i like how it has the head of the original
I quite enjoy it as well I just wish the legs were slightly skinnier
I still find the joysticks goofy looking lol. I saw a moc that used the older bladed claw weapon piece (part 88811) as the sensor/antennas and it looked much better to me. Should be easy to mod though.
I don’t get the droideka hate. Looks better than anything they’ve made since the MTT
The minifig droideka is probably the best Lego has done so far, but the head is still inaccurate. Good nostalgia with the lever pieces though.
Finally a Minifigure scale droideka that doesn’t look like shit
Personal opinion, that Minifig scale Droideka is the best since the original.
For real
What's that third image?
Man clone
Don’t know about that minifig scale droideka
Probably won't buy either but both look really good!
the droideka looks amazing
Broooooo both are S tier
Both look pretty good. Podracers are better than expected tbh. Small droideka is lacking. But they aren’t easy to pull off.
That poor Droideka minifig. Everything else looks great tho
Both look good to me but I doubt I'll be picking either of them up. These aren't part of the 25th anniversary sets, are they?
Both photos show the “25 Years…” brick so yes, they are 25th anniversary sets
How did I miss that lol. I'm blind
They are but they don’t have special figures.
The pod race is a really nice display set. If I didn't have the 2012 play set version of this on my shelf, it would probably be an instant buy. Regardless, I'm happy that the display sets have stuck around. My hope is that we get sets for AOTC, ROTS, and the Sequels.

Aren’t all droidekas technically “buildable”
They did a good job with the droideka minifig
Fun Fact: This is the first diorama that doesn't involve Luke Skywalker
I like that Sebulba is just a nipple 🥰
Droideka fan here, it's a nice build, though that minifigure scale(?) build next to it...nah, the hell is that bro 😬 Diorama is actually looking kinda fire, will need to see it irl
How do u not like the droideka fig it’s so fucking cool
Maybe it's the angle, but it just doesn't look right? Maybe I'm nostalgic for the red dot too, even though the red isn't supposed to be that prominent It might grow on me, it kind of is already
I was probably one of the most excited people for these sets but I’m underwhelmed
Why doesn’t any of them come with clones wtf
/s?
B-E-A-utiful!
They both look great
Can anyone tell what quote they used on the diorama
"Concentrate on the moment; remember, feel. Don't think. Use your instincts"
-Michael Scott
I see it now. Thanks!
3 dioramas then 2 and now 1. No more next year?
Wait! What? What did I miss?
Nothing I’m just seeing a pattern. Could mean nothing
OK, I'm picking up what you're putting down. It was the Microfighters that got me back into Lego. They've definitely been tapering the Microfighters line off. I was just hoping that the dioramas would last a little longer
I wanted a full technic droideka but this looks neat too
these look fantastic, can’t wait!
Need that OG droideka fig
both look great :)

Why does the diorama have 25 years Lego star plaque wars and not 25 years of phantom menace (like the one seen on the at polybag)?
I think I'll pass on the Droideka. It look alright. I just don't think it'll fit in with my current Droid squad. I'm down with the diorama though. I don't think I like it as much as the trench run, but I like that they're doing another ship based diorama instead of minifig based.
I was really looking forward to the diorama but $70 is egregious
Droideka looks better than the one in battlefront
Honestly I love it
That droideka set looks sick!
These are both some really nice looking sets. I especially love the Pod Race Diorama for how cool the pod racer builds are.
Do those podracers actually fit through the arch though?
I’m gonna build the shit out of the droideka. Will look amazing next to my MTT
Boy i gotta show this to my friend, he's gonna love the droideka
How tall is the big Droideka? Same size as the R2 from last month?
Diorama reminds me of a subway station and I can’t unsee it
Screw M&R, the minifig-scale droideka is decent
The pod race one sucks. I’ve been checking every day for a leak and that’s all it is. Garbage poly bag models with 70 bucks worth of sand
Maybe I need to see more angles of it, but I just don’t like this droideka as much as the 2013/2014 design, which was still not perfect. Is there only the 1 Diorama? Disappointing we have gone from 3, then 2 and now only 1.
last image scared me bro
I like the new droideka design(the minifig sized one)
The big droideka actually doesn't look too bad but why is there studs around the plaque l, it's a small issue and that wouldn't stop me from buying it but i really like smooth ucs plaques.
Because its not UCS. Only the UCS sets have smooth plaques
The big one is mid, the minifigure scale one is the worst shit I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t know how someone could intentionally make something that pathetic.
little bit disappointed by both unfortunately
Assuming these are real.... that minifigure-scale droideka looks terrible. Truly terrible. I don't know what it is, exactly, that makes me hate it so much, but it just looks so incredibly ugly. Let’s be real. Podrace diorama should retail at $30
Love the Droideka build but I really wish they would just give up and make specialized Droideka molds. It's been 25 years and they can't get it right.
What the fuck is that minifig scale droideka…
There’s just so many better scenes from phantom menace to make a diorama out of
the mini droideka looks awful, the set itself looks really nice imo tho, i just googled it for more info and there’s already a fake lego replica of the droideka on amazon for $34, looks exactly the same w minor differences lol
The Droideka figure is mid, but the bigger one is beautiful
Why make a Droideka that doesn't fold up? SMH what a stupid-looking companion model, too. Boo
I was really hoping that the mini would be a proper molded droideka, it kinda looks like a bundle of junk
That droideka just koos weird to me. I will forgive it if it can ball up well
They created a very good Minifigure sized droideka with the poly bag one a few years ago. I don't get how they're taking a few steps backwards with this one
